I deleted all my sms messages by mistake and I was wondering if anybody knows a way i could restore them like on windows were they'll stay in the trash until you permanently delete them. I doubt there is but thought i'd ask anyway.

you cant. they are gone forever. maybe if you ask tmobile to send you a printout, i have done that with success before, but once you delete them they are gone.

after writing an SMS, I wondered about all my messages got deleted automatically. Additionaly to this, the whole call log was erased at the same time.
Luckily I did an backup so I could restore nearly all of them. But this really sucked. Hope, it will not happen again.
So anybody of you knows what could have caused this? I obviously disabled the option in the stock sms app to delete old messages.
Normally I'm using Handcent SMS on CM 5.0.8...

Have dome a search but not really found anything about my problem. Basically on occasion when I need to reboot Android, especially if it is a hard reboot (removing battery) when it has crashed/hung, when I eventually manage to restart android, my SMS messages appear to have reverted to a backup. It leaves me with exactly the same messages every time. I don't use any backup software (although I will now!)

Weird.
Installed SMS Backup, it gives an error when trying to save SMS but when I use it to view SMS, everything is there. All the messages that appear to be missing.
Very odd.
It sounds like for some reason it's reverting to the messages stored on the sim card, potentially there's something wrong with the storage on the sd card or the settings in your message client? Just an idea really.

Got a weird one here... I was using my phone earlier, and had all my sms messages in there. I sent a text about 1:30pm, and all were still there then. I received a phone call at a little after. After the call, put the phone down, and didn't look at it for a couple of hours. About 3.30pm, I went to send a message. In the messages, it was all empty. A bit confused, I restarted phone. Upon restart, still empty. So, sent a text, and then I'm the only message in there?!
So, what gives. How come this all deleted?!
A bit fed up, since the last backup I have dates back about 2 weeks ago... I guess there's no way to get them back. But, how come they would just delete like that?

It seems no solution or explanation was found for the moment.
So the best is to backup regularly your SMS until a fix is possibly released someday.

Now, I'm wondering whether it might be something to do with the htcsense.com website and the syncing?!
I used to be able to get the messages showing on htcsense when I first signed up for it. But then, I had to factory reset the phone. When connecting up to my sense account, I Had all sorts or problems. So, I deleted my sense account, signed up again. After this, they had disabled the messaging etc. But, when I went in to htcsense yesterday, it looked a bit funny (i.e. the locations was apparantly disabled, which I had after I first had problems with it). So my guessing is htc sense deleting all the messages as it synced?!
Also, I got a message when restarting phone saying something like background searching de-activated... Couldn't find this on google?!
Have now set sms backup & restore to do a daily backup... Had that before, but when I ran the latest update, it messed up, so had to run full ruu, and forgot to setup the schedule for backup and restore! More fool me
Not sure that it's got anything to do with htcsense.com.
When it happened on my DZ, I got an FC of the SMS app then when I restarted it all my messages were gone.
Maybe there's some sort of reinitialization that it does if it detects corruption in the messages?
Does anyone know where and in what format the messages are stored?

Hey guys, so recently I went from one phone carrier to another and my text messages were not working (inbound and outbound). They told me to delete all my messages in order for it to work. So I did a backup with SMS Backup+ and gave it a try and the outbound worked (I had not yet tried getting an inbound yet) So I asked the CSR if I can restore my messages and he said yes everything should work now. Well, that's where the problem started. Once I restored, SMS keep crashing, it says Loading conversations forever and then I had to reboot my phone. Once I was able to get in, I see the messages but when I click on one, its just blank as it trying to load but nothing is happening. I rebooted and tried to delete them all again and its just stuck, nothing happens. I looked around for solutions and someone mentioned to get another text messaging app to at least get in your messages so you can delete it and then use the stock app for messaging again. I got chomp SMS and yes I was able to get in and said delete all, well its says deleting for the past 2 hours now and not sure if it is actually deleting or just stuck. Any help would be appreciated to get this working again

Try deleting the data of the SMS app from the android settings.
