How To Check If My Diamond 2 Is Real? - Touch Diamond2, Pure General

Hi, I'm sorry if this thread had been posted before but I did a forum search and could not find anything on the topic.
I just bought my Touch Diamond 2 three days ago. It's also my first Windows Mobile Phone
I am very happy with it but I came to know about the concept of TD2 clones
Now I'm confused if I have the real deal
Is there any particular procedure- manual/software oriented/ list of steps to chck if my mobile is the real deal?
I installed TD2 tools v3 and here are some of the things shown in Device info
Device Model ID: Touch Diamond 2 T5353
CPU: QUALCOMM(R) 7200A
CPU Speed: 528 MHz
OS Kernel Version: 5.2.21869
Manilla Version: 2.1.19201317.0
ROM Version: 2.17.720.2(68613) WWE
I'm from India and I upgraded my ROM to Windows 6.5 from 6.1 using the official RUU from HTC India site.
Can you please point me out in the right direction?
I'm sorry for the long post, just that I'm too tensed.

If you were able to upgrade your ROM with an official HTC tool, I think its pretty safe to bet it is real. Also, on many fakes the zoombar is a volume control, so check yours

Thanks so much for a prompt and helpful reply.
Zoombar checking done, zooms perfectly on photos , no effect on audio player
Just curious, any other tips(mainly software that checks versions and all) to see if my phone is real
Just curious coz I'm a student and used all my saved up money for this phone

Hi.
Most of the clones don't have Qualcomm processor, only 3MP camera, no front camera.
Biggest difference: no clone EVER wad upgraded with official HTC rom.
So you can relax, yours TD2 is real.

Thanks a lot, I feel so much better now
Off to learn about custom ROM installation.( It's hard for me)
But with all the great guides, I'm sure I'll crack it
Thanks again

Magician 2 ... rumours rumours!!

Don't know if this old news for some ...
http://www.theunwired.net/./?itemid=2696
An identical device to the Magican with WM5, WiFI, 128MB and 2 replaced buttons!
I spoke to our logistics manager today (TMUK) and he confirmed that the Compact II looks the same as the original with Windows 5 OS. Didn't have anymore tech specs to hand although don't be surprised if some more case colours appear. If I get anymore info I'll update.
BulletTime,
many thanks for your reply. Looks like we might get the long awaited WM5 through "official" channels then!
Hence my excitement!
Athena anyone?
I'm not entirely sure if this is the Athena or not. I heard rumours that this could be the athena but I also heard rumours of an athena that has a different shape than the Magician altogether. I think we'll have to wait and see ...
Could be the HTC Prophet
German tmobile also claims a new release of our mdacompact should appear before christmas. And "yes" they say its planned to be equipped with WM2005 wlan and 128mb.
Greetings
T-mobile compact II (HTC - ???)
http://msmobiles.com/news.php/4493.html

Cons: no hardware buttons for wm 5.0 softbuttons.
XDA Atom (Quanta - Athena)

HTC Prophet
http://msmobiles.com/news.php/4436.html
Pro: wm 5.0; 2MP camera; fm radio; softbuttons; wifi
Cons: only MiniSD!!!
Obviously, images and specs may change before release. We have only rumors.
Bye bye
Isidoro
No more a rumour!!!!
The word is out!!! :
German tmobile is offering the mdacompact 2 around middle of novembert2005.
Specs:
128mb
Windows mobile 2005!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Seemingly NO wlan!!!!
See photo from official catalogue:
Are u sure the photo is not a fake? Compact II should have Start and OK hardware buttons instead of contacts and agenda. See

Definately not a fake!!!!!
Picked up the new catalogue for november just an hour ago!
Greetings
So Compact II will be a S110 with windows mobile 5.0? Nothing more, nothing less? Well, at least i think we'll be able to install its rom in our magician in short times!!!
Oh Prophet, we are u???
Bye
Could you please scan page 12 and link it for us?
Or at least tell us what further information about the MDAcII is given on page 12?
Edit:
It seems that the missing page/information is given here.
That's great, because we could use the firmware and have wm5 on our magican i suppose... If anyone have the solution for that please provide us with it.thx

Unpopular model?

Is it me, or has the herald never gotten popular? And why not? I mean it's a smaller, faster and better Wizard. Comparing to the activity on the Wizard or even the big, chubby Hermes, this sub forum is close to dead! I dont get it.
I'm thinking that too, cause If we see the other forums, the others PDA has a lot of movement in their forums. I think that model is so great, better than other models like the models that you said.
It's just a matter of time. When I joined this forum I already had my HTC Prophet for some time and the community was similar in size and activity like the Herald's now. If you have a look at the Prophet forum now its pretty huge and active, too. It also depends on the prices those devices are sold so people will jump faster on them. The Prophet is avaible for just 10€ with a provider contract here in Germany, the Herald not even close. At least we have some very active users already on our side experimenting in putting cooked ROMs on our beloved Herald's. Sooner or later we we will be able to choose which custom ROM we want to put on our devices.

Yep -i guess also. The wing in america is our chance for cooked roms. Because german romcooker are not very presented (look at ppc-welt.com)
Except you and me - lol
So what can the folks with the Wizard do that we can't as far as ROMs? I just quit using my Wizard (or should I say it quit), and bought my Herald. From everything I see it's the same phone internally. So doesn't it make sense to be able to use a cooked Wizard ROM in a Herald? Of course I don't have the balls to try this myself to see if it works, that's why I'm asking the question.

Wizard uses an "old" os file version = nbf
herald uses = nbh
and the nbh files have to be signed. and we cannot singd it.
That´s the difference. It is not such eays like oin wizard and on hermes they got a prefabricated bootloader with supercid.
for herald they amde it better like for vista etc.

Exactly, the newer devices follow a higher protected filessystem.
The differences might look minor, but they are effective from being modified.
As papamopps said, its comparable with WinXP's to WinVista's protection.
But I'm certain we will have our custom ROM some time soon.
Other XDA communities like PDAMobiz or PDAViet and many others
are having their hands on HTC devices, so I wouldn't worry much,
at least we will get official WM6 ROMs and that's something.
It's just a matter of time... the Wing is the hottest selling PDAphone so far in the US.
And believe me, I bring up custom ROMs for the Herald/Atlas/Wing every chance I get!

the ship rom sucks
I also hink it's only a matter of time but for the time been I have had the herald (tmobile Wing) for 3 days and I am soooooo frudtrated with the lack of program memory (not storage memory) on this thing it's a nice phone but geeees the rom on it sucks I cant even have half the programs I had on my Wizard installed 15 programs and the 16th one was igo gps nav and it wont run unless I do a soft reset from lack of memory so i am thinking to go back to the Wizard untill I REAL custom rom is available without all the T-Mobile crap in it I tried to get some of the stuff out but not much luck most of the Tmobile stuff is par of the rom as far as I can tell. 3 days and I really miss the core 2.0n I have on the wizard WHAT A DIFFERENCE.
Not sure if i agree about best selling, Dash still outsells the wing in my area of the us Minnesota. The low memory issues is still really annoying me. official rom is out there somewhere?
With the latest rom from the danish retailer Dangaard, my P4350 is running quite well, haven't had memory problems since flashing it.
Well i guess the people are getting confused by the herald... i bought it because i knew that there is an dual core inside + windows mobile 6! If you don't know that the processor is a dual core, then 201Mhz just seem to be a bit low... i'm running them now on 260Mhz - kinda battery drain, but the speed is awesome! DVD watching *jammi*
The WM6 fixed a lot of bugs and added features, that are very handy + it has long time support, because of the "windows mobile update" option.

Yeah - after 30minutes of researching i found that out too... but why does the xda-developers wiki state a dual core in the prohpet running on TI 850?

The HTCANDROID project! Let's get it running!

Hey!
As i've previously mentioned here once (I think), i started a small forum where I tried to gather all the setups for running Android on various HTC models. Now that the HTC G1 (Dream) is soon released, we will will get some very interesting challenges while trying to build Android ROM's, etc..
This forum is great, but its also very big. Thought that it might be a good idea to have our android resources on a separate forum?
Anyways, thought i could register a domain and such, but for now the forum is at http://www.connect-utb.com/htcandroid
Some of you are there already! Hopefully, with the experienced user base we have here, we can get Android ROMS and whatnot for our HTC models, as the HTC Dream looks rather poor. (Although better devices will surely come in the future).
you must be joking. Android is a total OS unlike apps that we see all over which are portable among HTC devices. It takes months alone just to get Android as it is today for the kaiser. Mostly everything for WM can be ported among other devices which some exceptions to nontouch devices. It'll be a long time until you see Android ported over to more devices than now. My suggestion would be to use a device that's got android projects already in progress or at your nearest convenience to buy a device with android on it.
Think we misunderstand each other, but you dont believe that if we can extract the android ROM from the HTC Dream, and modify and install it on lets say, the Kaiser?
You can always try before saying that it isn't going to work.
I will track this post because i'm very curious by the Android OS.
I get it...and completely understand what this is about...it's HTC...which means theoretically we should be able to at least somewhat get it working...I've started a wizard thread on your new forum in hopes that any information or progress getting it ported over gets posted all in one location for easy access....kudo's for thinking ahead as I dont think android is going anywhere soon and while this forum is very useful it's mostly for winmo devices....nothing wrong with speading the wings a lil bit and branching out...
looking forward to the press conference!!
I would say we should be able to get Android to run on the OS level of our devices, but it will probably need a bit of modifying. However, since it's open source I'm hoping the modifying will be a lot easier because of this.
Hey,
I was just on HTC homepage ( htc.com ), where the G1 is shown.
They printed the specs, which are very similar to the diamond
Same chipset, same rom size, same ram size,...
SO I think, it would be ( maybe easily?) possible to port android to the diamond

Same here!
If my memory does not fail, I remember that one of the first peaks at Android was being run in a Blue Angel. So, I guess there is a big chance that we might in fact be able to see Android running on more than one device (of course, you will have more or less features depending on the device's capabilities and hardware limitations, namely apps that work with an accelerometer, etc).
Maybe, the development should be worth following because as much as I don't want to believe it, my device (Blue Angel) will only trick death for so long (by death I mean not being able to move to newer versions of WM) and we will need a way to pass the time .
HTC Touch Vogue in progress of being ported
Hey don't forget about the senior member "DZO" that started ANDROID porting to HTC Vogue and it is Successful
This is his direct link to the files : http://cs-alb-pc3.massey.ac.nz/vogue
And here is the link to the posting: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=382265
I think he did a GREAT job porting Android. I am running Android 0.9 with most of the featuress except installing programs but only because he is the only one that does that. So, he needs help! I am sure... Plus, on this site people are cheeping in for HTC Diamond so he can work on that too...
Here is the link: http://www.myhtcphone.com
So, if you want something done we should start by contributing either money, or programming support! I wish I knew how to program this
ahhhh I wish I would have fully functional Android on my HTC
Thanks for the support! The forums are slightly active now!
Hopefully, we will be able to get Android running more or less flawless soon! As pointed out, its possible!
he he nice link, it seems that there are allready htc devices running with android.
just wondering, is it possible to have dual boot in one device ?
hmmm, seems to have no desktop syncing.. this may be a huge set back for anyone trying to get androig running on another HTC device.

well currently (or in the case of the vogue) android is being booted via haret (a linux bootloaded) running on top of windows mobile.. so i guess its already kind of dual boot
For now, Android has to be run from within Windows Mobile, so no true dual boot yet

Someone ported Android for BlueAngel?
Please can someone tell me if Android is already running in BlueAngel? If there is a way show me how. Thanks Man!!!
Maybe I'm mistaken, but wasn't Android made so that it can run on a wide range of devices. I, for one, can't wait till its ported to samsung omnia. Damn, that would be good!

Which WM 6.0 and 6.1 to choose ?

Hi guys, I'm contemplating to upgrade my tytn to either WM 6.0 or 6.1. Due to quite a few choices available, which version of WM 6.0 and 6.1 should I choose ? Your opinion is very much appreciated. Thank you.
Regards,
William
So many people ask this... Its really a personal choice, you REALLY need to read the description of whats in the rom and the last few pages of comments from people who have flashed the rom.
What is good for me may not be for you.
So saying I use the new 21109 build 21109 ROM by TAI_sw, with a bit of surgery for the 1st and 2nd flash screens and a special blend of apps. It seems to be stable and quick, but its early days yet...
Cheers...
Yeah, go and confuse the poor guy...
Personally, I have two favorites right now:
1) Schnap's Windows Mobile 6 Pro - It has great visual appeal, excellent visual coherence, and it's fast. Unfortunately, the biggest problem with it is that it's outdated.
2) PDACornerPro V27 - Great visuals and very fast. Visually, I prefer Schnap's over the PDACornerPro, but PDACornerPro is updated. Most important of all, at least from my opinion,is that it has a perfectly working 'HTC Youtube' app.
Currently, I am using the second one, and I am very happy with it.

WM official update to 6.5.3 for Omnia II ???

Hi, I'd like to now, before buiyng Omnia II, if Samsung gives the possibility to update in an official way (maybe through their updates) windows mobile 6.5 to wm 6.5.3 or 6.5.5.
And if there isn't this possibility, to download the unofficial roms from Modaco, obviously i have to be registered, but to register, do i have to pay? Otherwise is there a way to download these roms from xda?
Finally between the Arm1176 800 Mhz of Omnia II and the Snapdragon QSD8250 1Ghz there is a big difference in daily use? theoretically video playback should be the same for standard definition, or not? and windows mobile is almost equally fast for both the processors, or not? where should i see the benefits of Snapdragon?
Thank you very much (and sorry for my bad English)
Bye
Hi,
Samsung didn't announce anything about WinMo 6.5.x upgrades, so I wouldn't bet on it.
Registering at Modaco is free, and the ROMs posted there from Secany are semi-official, some kind of development snapshots from Samsung, and they are getting better and better Maybe Secany will post them here also in the future...
Finally to the difference between the ARM and the snapdragon: With the snapdragon everything will run faster than with the ARM. Especially starting Apps but probably also stuff like viewing pictures. Video playback will mainly depend on the video hardware which has nothing to do with the main processor. As far as the Omnia II is concerned, playback in SD is as smooth as it can get and I didn't notice any significant lags, except for Samsung's own main menu (which you really don't need).
ok, thank you very much WebReaper21 !!!

Nonsense. "Snapdragon" is market name of RISC-architecture CPU with ARM instruction set.

These are some nice links. I was referring to the specific Processors as mentioned in the first post (ARM for the OMNIA 2, Snapdragon as in the HD2, I presume). While both processors may have an ARM instruction set, the Snapdragon has a newer and in most applications faster architecture AFAIK.
Please correct me if I'm wrong there...

WM ROM for Samsung Omnia LITE (GT-B7300)
I'm sorry if this isn't the best spot for this question but I'm doing my best to not clutter up the board with a new thread dedicated to what I'm hoping will be a simple answer.
While in Thailand my girlfriend purchased a Samsung Omnia LITE or GT-B7300, which you can see more of at pdadb.net (search for the GT-B7300, I'd provide a link but as I'm a new account I cannot do that yet. The phone came with a WM 6.5 English and Thai ROM and I'd like to get either...
1. An English and Chinese ROM (preferable so Google Maps works while in Beijing).
2. A way to add on Chinese characters so texts and programs can do simplified Chinese.
I've not see any mention of this phone on XDA; any suggestions on where to get the right ROM or at least have the right character set put on the phone?

I read somewhere (reliable) that someone got an WM6.5.3 update in a Samsung Service Centre, so I believe this version is comming soon
Hi all,
I am planning to upgrdae to WinMo 6.5 through the official update, I have a few questions..
1. Is there a possibility to rollback to 6.1 from 6.5 (without flashing it with custom Roms)
2. Is it faster then 6.1
There are some official 6.1 roms, but you can flash it only with Octans or Octans Mini.
6.5 is a bit slower than 6.1 and has memory leaks.
you don't have to pay to get'em form modaco but it is kinda hard to install them.
There is unofficial service update to win 6.5.3 by Samsung. Version build 23103. This is not public service test update. Don't ask me how i knew that, just believe - wersion 6.5.3 is coming soon.
Is it possible to obtain this update?

In fact, it seems that JD1 ROM is 6.5.3....
Correct, it is.
flashed and using for about a week now and it works great way fast. Using a lite ROM and get 98MB free on fresh boot and 70MB with SPB
The builds starting with 253 were part of the COM3 builds wasn't it?
I wonder how long it'll take verizon to butcher it..
I just can't see flashing this phone until a stock rom is available.
Still looking for other radios too for my community project...
