You can ask Orange to unlock it for you after three months. There is a one off charge of £20.

people who have got a replacement phone from orange can get £20 credit if your previous phone was unlocked. all you have to do is ASK. once you have your replacement phone, you can contact orange and get unlock code. i dont think you will have to wait for 3 months as its their fault of providing a locked phone inplace of your unlocked phone!

Not like those ejits at orange...
v. expensive
Orange charges around £20 i think to give u the unlock code... and you charge £40... wouldnt it be better to go through orange and do it legitamately.

HEY MATE IF YOU THINK YOU KNOW SOMTHING THEN WHY DONT YOU GO AND BUY FROM EBAY AT 0.99 GBP THE SOFTWARE AND SEE YOU GET NOTHING .
FOR YOUR INFORMATION AND ALL WHO READ THIS XDA EXEC AND JASJAR COMES FULLY UNLOCKED FROM FACTORY IN ASIA.
THE ONLY ONES THAT ARE LOCKED ARE THE T-MOBILE THE ORANGE AND THE VODA .
NOW LETS SEE YOU MAN UNLOCK IT WITH THAT SOFTWARE AND BY THE WAY READIN IS ITEM DESCRPTION ON EBAY HE CAN ONLY UNLOCK THE SXA EXEC NOW READ THE FEEDBACK HERE AND TELL ME WHO IS RIPPING OFF ME OR YOU OR MAYBE HIM OR MAYBE YOU ARE HIM !!!
GD LUCK TO EVERYONE .
Yep he is right ... the O2 XDA is already unlocked so that ebay guy is ripping people off.. unless it works on the mda too. (which I doubt)
-jc
MOTIN, iYOUR 40£ IS DOUBLE THE PRICE OF WHAT ORANGE, O2 and TMOBILE CHARGE FOR GIVING THE UNLOCK CODE. THATS STILL A RIP OFF! I ADVISE PEOPLE TO RING ORANGE, UNLOCK IT THAT WAY, MUCH CHEAPER
1. ebay guy solotion does not work at all on any unit so be aware
2. orange t-mobile will do it maybe cheeper but only if you leave in uk and have an orange or t-mobile account.
gd luck
so you think 200% the original unlocking price is justified just because you can unlock phones that are not from uk?
if you can do it cheeper you are welcome to offer your service
but just talking and doing nothing is not a big deal
so go spend your weekend doing things for you or others
but not agianst others.

I think if people will pay it, and he offeres a money back guarantee, which he does, then its entirely down to the persons choice...
I tried all other avenues, orange refused to unlock my phone, saying I had to live in the UK, and the previous owner was under contract blah blah blah...
As I only paid £300 quid for a brand new boxed SPV M5000, yes I believe the cost was completely justified...
If you dont wanna pay it, stop *****ing, as there are people out here who are very grateful...

Ok, I'll bite ... why on earth would you want to do this? I can't think of any reasons which aren't outright fraudulent, so I'm curious....
I'm not aware of a method to carrier-lock an unlocked phone but I imagine it's quite possible to do so. If I were you, I wouldn't expect the community to be terribly interested in finding a method if it's not already known though.
Richard
simple but complicated, if i lock it, i will be able to sell it...as i said, complicated. but this is what I need...

None of my business anyway, but I can't imagine why you'd need to LOCK the phone to sell it unless buyer or seller were planning on defrauding the carrier to which you intend to lock it by claiming the device were a carrier-sold device. Note that many/most carriers doing this know the range of IMEIs they purchase so attempting such fraud would likely be unsucessful anyway.
Oh well, have fun with it.

HTC HD2 on o2 - locked!

i ordered an unlock code from the web said 5 to 30 mins, that was 5 hours ago !! im still waiting........ i will let you know if and when it comes through.
first handset i think o2 have locked.
is there no such thing as an imei unlock code generator ?? how do all these websites do it ??
if anyone can unlock my HD2 quicker i will pay for it !
Second in the google results is leo.unlock-now.com
I purchased the unlock code for my Touch HD (was locked on Orange) from blackstone.unlock-now.com

Yes i did ask O2 for it they said it would be upto 28 days... and would cost me 15.00 pounds.
i paid 17.99 on MOBILEUNLOCKED.COM for a 5-30 mins service which i thought was worth the extra few pounds.
digging around a bit there are a few websites this guy runs (the contact info in it is the same) and the e-mails come from mobileunlocked.com
If they clearly sold you a phone without simlock, they must provide a device without simlock, it is as simple as that. If they are not willing to change it fast, I would give it back and get it somewhere else.
If they are customer friendly, they usually do have ways and solutions. A Samsung phone I had was unlocked in a service center within 10 minutes, my Xperia took the same way. I actually never "buy" phones through contractual down payments...
will let you guys know how I get on with leo.unlock-now.com

What get gets me is that people quote a few minutes to unlock but then they do not getting back to you.
If i had an e-mail saying sorry it will be 24 - 48 hours then, at least i would know. (sorry to moan !)
i've used leo.unlock-now.com as well, but put in the HD2 first rather than the HD2 T8585 (Which is the O2 one). Haven't heard back yet, but have sent an email to state what I did wrong. I'll let you know too!

also - can anyone with an o2 one find the screen allignment option? looks like o2 have basterdised the os a bit too much.
It's under settings>advanced>display but pointless as you don't have a stylus.

Anyone heard from their respective websites yet? I really doubt that a website will be able to unlock it over the insternet in "a few hours" when a phone provider has to send the information off to htc to get it done.
I have had bad experiences in the past trying to unlock sonys and nokias (not mine) and wouldnt use one again. Im sure there are very reliable sites out there but the ones I used which I researched before using just took my money then kept it for 2 days before saying that my phone couldnt be unlocked.
Freaky LOL
im thinking of buying htc hd2 from o2 for 400£ should it come unlock or unbranded?

Unlock x10

I am searching for a method to unlock the x10 but i can cat the right method.
For the unbrand method ( by flash another firmware ) i cant find the dutch rom.
At the other program i must by credits over a paypall acount but i dont have paypall and the unlock must be done as soon as possible.
So what is the best and the fastest way to unlock the x10i branded from HI in holland?
( sorry for my bad english but as you can see i am from holland )
You can unbrand it.
Unbranded dutch rom can be found here
But you should know that unbranding your device doesn't unlock it. So you still won't be able to use non-Hi/KPN sim-cards.
If you do want to unlock you can buy the unlock code from Hi, but that'll cost you €68,- i believe.
I used unlocking.com and paid £19.99 and got my unlock code in approx 24hrs and it worked fine...

I thought unbranding remove the simlock
I cannot contact HI about it becouse i dont have a HI number. I chance the x10 fore my vivaz pro and not the numbers.
The only way to unlock the x10 is to order a unlock code and wait for a couple of days?

After a week waiting for unlocking.com to get my unlock code, I got nervous and went to htccode.com for it. Surprisingly, this guy did it in 10 minutes, so I really recommend the service in there. A bit pricey (40$), but definitely worth it. Nice support, and really fast. Comparing it to a week of waiting and asking to support service what the hell was going on, it's definitely worth the price.
Regards!
I am trying to get unlock code for my new X10a (Rogers). I tried from ebay and again yesterday from http://www.cellunlocker.net/. Both took about a day each and sent message saying there is no unlock code for my IMEI. Do newer Roger phones take time to get unlock code? I am now worried. The phone is brand new and I opened it. It's clearly Rogers branded.

From which place?
My xperia x10 was locked to orange. I did a lot of research and like so many ppl i placed an order at unlocking com. After waiting for 8-10 days, they replied that the code couldnt be found. Out of options i tried htccode To be true i was a bit afraid by reading lot of bad stuff about htccode. But in the end it worked pretty well. During the whole process i was in touch with the support rep and effectively it took only 5-10 mins to complete the process. I know the price is a bit high 40USD but in my opinion it is worth spending.
PS: The views expressed in this post are of author's only. I am not advertising htccode neither do i have any affiliation with them.

I am not willing to spend over $10 . Anway, the Locked Rogers X10a I have right now is in Black and I really don't like it as much as I like my white X10i. So, ordered an unlocked White X10a this time and will sell my black X10a if I can't get it unlocked in a week or so. If I can get it to unlock I might just use it and give the white X10a to my wife.

Unlocking

This is probably a stupid question but is there an issue with unlocking a Desire HD from Vodafone UK? I was looking for code websites and one for instance said they couldn't supply codes for Desire HDs and Desire Zs etc...
If this is possible are there any recommendations for the UK?
Just ring vodaphone and tell em you wanna use a foreign sim when you go abroad they should give you unlock code
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
I just unlocked mine here in Australia (from Vodaphone).
Maybe there is a similar site in the uk
hxxps://unlock.vodafone.com.au/voila/handsetunlock/self-service.html?method=selectService
Mine was free to unlock.
Now just to work out how to get rid of the Voda bootscreen as my system folder is still read only after perm-root and using Root Explorer.
Cheers
I should add that I'm not a Vodafone customer - bought it from eBay...
Worst case the seller said he could call them up which I though was quite amiable...

Mine is. Just tried an o2 SIM, worked perfectly.
chrisa86, please don't think I assume ur dumb but are you certain that it's locked? Because I've been on vodafone for quite some time now and mine always came lock free and happy I read smwr there's even some EU laws now against sim-locking phones that expensive ( correct me if im wrong ).
If after all that's the case, I suggest mancuk29's solution. Call, be nice and charming and they'll give u the unlock code.

I think you have to S-OFF your Desire HD, this will allow you to read/write ALL flash
Maybe a fool question but let's assume that we have got a locked DHD (whether Vodafone or something else) and we could not get unlock code from carrier.
In this case, If we root + S-off + recovery + flash a new rom does this transaction make it unlocked?
No, sorry. SIM lock is very different.
AndyCr15, can u elaborate on that. What animal exactly simlock is?
Sorry, can't elaborate as I don't know how it works. All I can say is SIM unlock usually (always that I know of) has to be done using a code from a site or eBay. It's not part of the ROM.
Wow I did not know that Andy. Thanks for the heads up. So should be stay away from locked version.

Not in OZ. Mine was definately carrier locked to VHA. I went through the 'online' process and it was free. If I had of rang them on the phone to do it it would have cost me $75.
That's easy money for a company that sells phones to people with no idea, and as they believe, no option - whats online mean ??
