HTC HD2 on o2 - locked! - HD2 General

o2 have supplied me the handset locked to the network even though I purchased it out of contract outright.
I know there is no hardspl out there yet but anyone unlocked their HD2 yet?
o2 need to fill out a form and send it to HTC which could take 28 days

yes yes anyone can google but half of these sites are dodgy. Why do you think I posted here.

i ordered an unlock code from the web said 5 to 30 mins, that was 5 hours ago !! im still waiting........ i will let you know if and when it comes through.
first handset i think o2 have locked.
is there no such thing as an imei unlock code generator ?? how do all these websites do it ??
if anyone can unlock my HD2 quicker i will pay for it !

Second in the google results is leo.unlock-now.com
I purchased the unlock code for my Touch HD (was locked on Orange) from blackstone.unlock-now.com

Yes i did ask O2 for it they said it would be upto 28 days... and would cost me 15.00 pounds.
i paid 17.99 on MOBILEUNLOCKED.COM for a 5-30 mins service which i thought was worth the extra few pounds.
digging around a bit there are a few websites this guy runs (the contact info in it is the same) and the e-mails come from mobileunlocked.com

If they clearly sold you a phone without simlock, they must provide a device without simlock, it is as simple as that. If they are not willing to change it fast, I would give it back and get it somewhere else.
If they are customer friendly, they usually do have ways and solutions. A Samsung phone I had was unlocked in a service center within 10 minutes, my Xperia took the same way. I actually never "buy" phones through contractual down payments...

will let you guys know how I get on with leo.unlock-now.com

may well be right ! can't remember that far back !
What get gets me is that people quote a few minutes to unlock but then they do not getting back to you.
If i had an e-mail saying sorry it will be 24 - 48 hours then, at least i would know. (sorry to moan !)

i've used leo.unlock-now.com as well, but put in the HD2 first rather than the HD2 T8585 (Which is the O2 one). Haven't heard back yet, but have sent an email to state what I did wrong. I'll let you know too!

mine is a T8585 as I have an o2 one.
also - can anyone with an o2 one find the screen allignment option? looks like o2 have basterdised the os a bit too much.

It's under settings>advanced>display but pointless as you don't have a stylus.

I do not have an advanced top level menu under settings!?

thank you - needed to hit All settings.

Anyone heard from their respective websites yet? I really doubt that a website will be able to unlock it over the insternet in "a few hours" when a phone provider has to send the information off to htc to get it done.
I have had bad experiences in the past trying to unlock sonys and nokias (not mine) and wouldnt use one again. Im sure there are very reliable sites out there but the ones I used which I researched before using just took my money then kept it for 2 days before saying that my phone couldnt be unlocked.
Freaky LOL

im thinking of buying htc hd2 from o2 for 400£ should it come unlock or unbranded?

thats the cheapest so far ... unless you ask your carrier for the sim unlock code. I know in US your carrier has to give it to you after 3 months of service don't know about UK regulations.

aah that sucks ... sorry .. That was a suggestion for op as he didn't want to pay the 50 (wait it out another 2 months ).
UK providers
UK phone providers Orange - will ask for the full value of the contract to unlock it - ie if you have 12 months left at £30 then £360 for the code + unlock fee £20 quidish.
Not sure about T-Mo - but i believe at the end of the contract they will give it for free, but dont say your going to another network, as they'll charge you for the privilidge.
Been there done that... htccode.com appear to be the cheapest at present at £15.
Reviews of service appear to be very positive!

Found this Forum whilst looking for quick way to unlock HTC Touch HD - follwed this recommendation and it's unlocked From sending Paypal payment to getting code took about 5 mins - made contact via MSN and they are really good - if anyone is going to do this, saves asking them the same question as I did - when you enter the unlock code it'll say it's accepted but will then say it's locked again - enter the code once more - that'll do it

What's funny, I bought my HD at Bouygues Telecom in Paris. They claimed it's locked to them. Once I came to the hotel and inserted my SIM card - it worked with no problems. They lied! Actually, I think the same thing was at Fnac. They had two versions of the phone - locked to one of French providers for EUR 589 and unlocked for EUR 699. I guess it was the same phone. I bought my one for 549, flashed to WWE and it works like a charm!
its illegal

GOOD NEWS-FREE "sim lock" UNLOCKING

Good news everybody on UK O2 network. Just been on the phone with O2 today(1/12/09) and been advised that unlocking O2 HD2's is free. also been advised that it can take up to 28 days, but as long as it's FREE that's not abig issue. Sorry to other networks users, you might need to contact your network rpoviders if you HD2 is locked to your network.
Blue Skies...
yeah, O2 are unlocking all locked contract phones free, only exception being the palm pre. Just need to go to https://www.o2.co.uk/apps/help/help?qid=1&q1=2&route=unlocking&case=Handset Unlocking Form and fill in your details
Is this once your contract is fully paid-up? Why would they lock them in the first place?
Good news for some people, I guess I am lucky, because despite the contract my operator don't lock the HD2.

Did you get it for free? If you compare Globul's offer (almost UK SIM free price + 2 year contract) with any of the UK pay monthly offers you will understand. The Bulgarian mobile operators are simply pathetic and no one which uses their services is lucky.

yeah, ignore the last two digits displayed on the actual device (if you did *#06#). Just input the first 15 displayed.
The number on the box is 15 digits long and the number on the phone is 17. I don't know why.

Nope, I did't get it for free, actually 389 EUR + 13 EUR/month for 1 year = 545 EUR and they give me - 750Mb internet traffic, 75 messages and 150 minutes. If I have to buy the device alone, I have to pay around 600 EUR without anything else. Also I get it sim unlocked from Globul, so I think this is quite a bargain for Bulgaria, but I have to agree that Bulgarian mobile operators are pathetic.
xD I got it for a 24 Month contract without any simlock
8€(x24) a month + 225€ for the phone.

First i got this reply a couple of days ago:
Hi,
Thank you for your email.
We have been informed by the manufacturer that the IMEI you have
provided is not showing on there database. This could be down to one of
two reasons:-
a). The IMEI number you have provided is incorrect (this can be obtained
by typing *#06# into the handset.
b). The IMEI number you have provided does not belong to a RIM device.
Kind Regards
Justin Peter
...................................................
Then i sent this reply:
Hi, thanks for the reply. Regarding the below problem with my unlock request, I have rechecked my IMEI and it is the same as the one I submitted and as for 'point b' stating that it must not be a RIM device, nowhere on the form did I enter that it was a RIM device. My handset is made by HTC and the model is a HD2 as was submitted on the form. Please advise of any other problems.
Thanks,
....................................................
Then i receive this today:
Good morning
Thanks for your email about unlatching your HTC phone. I understand from
your email that you've rechecked the IMEI number is it's the same. Also,
your handset isn't a RIM device. I appreciate you're using a HTC phone.

Whats going on? Anyone managed to get their code yet off O2? I think i might re-submit my info and try again.
I got my unlatch code and it worked with no problems, now I have an unbranded unlocked HD2
o2 have had that unlock page for some time. I've read several threads (and has also been what happened to me) that many peopled don't get the code after the first 28 days, and you have to phone them and they'll say "oh it didn't submit right"
the guy I spoke to even opened with "you know there may be a charge?"
so yes they will unlock it, but you might have to hassle them a bit!
mine came pre-unlocked - might be lock of the draw (teehee, get it?)- check sims before you go through the hassle.
used my t-mobile sim right up until the numbers switched over.

Oh happy days

just got HTC HD2

Got my HTC HD2 today.
A little tricky to work with their UI system and prefer the original Windows theme.
Anyway, I got mine from O2
I hope someone can tell me the answers to these questions please:
1) How can I get back the original Windows themes/sounds?
2) How can I SIM Unlock the device without having to fill out their form?
3) I have noticed that some system event sounds are LOUD regardless of the settings of the system volume. Bug in the ROM?
Thanks!
All sounds on my O2 HD2 were original.... cept the ringtone, which i changed to one of my own anyway.
Go buy an unlock code somewhere else.
possibly, never heard any myself.
buy an unlock code? That's a bit unfair considering how we pay for the contract and so on?
I remember with other WM devices, we could easily SIM unlock it either by a reghack sometimes or by using other tools like PDAUnlock (I think thats what it was called) and it would do it.
you either contact o2 or pay for a code, cant be unlocked via any other method yet
yeh which takes 28 days......
I bought a code from eBay for £7.20 and was unlocked after a few hours.

I unlocked my O2 HD2 via the O2 Web form and it didn't take the full 28 days, maybe 2 weeks, so I'd use it and before you know, you're unlocked for nothing.
they don't give out the codes otherwise people would get an upgrade, unlock the phone and flog it on eBay all the time...T-Mobile say you've got to be with them at least a month before giving you the unlock code, and then its £15
and when you say 'their' UI - it's not O2s, it's HTC Sense and it can be turned off if you want...

Unlock x10

I am searching for a method to unlock the x10 but i can cat the right method.
For the unbrand method ( by flash another firmware ) i cant find the dutch rom.
At the other program i must by credits over a paypall acount but i dont have paypall and the unlock must be done as soon as possible.
So what is the best and the fastest way to unlock the x10i branded from HI in holland?
( sorry for my bad english but as you can see i am from holland )
You can unbrand it.
Unbranded dutch rom can be found here
But you should know that unbranding your device doesn't unlock it. So you still won't be able to use non-Hi/KPN sim-cards.
If you do want to unlock you can buy the unlock code from Hi, but that'll cost you €68,- i believe.
I used unlocking.com and paid £19.99 and got my unlock code in approx 24hrs and it worked fine...

After a week waiting for unlocking.com to get my unlock code, I got nervous and went to htccode.com for it. Surprisingly, this guy did it in 10 minutes, so I really recommend the service in there. A bit pricey (40$), but definitely worth it. Nice support, and really fast. Comparing it to a week of waiting and asking to support service what the hell was going on, it's definitely worth the price.

I am trying to get unlock code for my new X10a (Rogers). I tried from ebay and again yesterday from http://www.cellunlocker.net/. Both took about a day each and sent message saying there is no unlock code for my IMEI. Do newer Roger phones take time to get unlock code? I am now worried. The phone is brand new and I opened it. It's clearly Rogers branded.

From which place?
My xperia x10 was locked to orange. I did a lot of research and like so many ppl i placed an order at unlocking com. After waiting for 8-10 days, they replied that the code couldnt be found. Out of options i tried htccode To be true i was a bit afraid by reading lot of bad stuff about htccode. But in the end it worked pretty well. During the whole process i was in touch with the support rep and effectively it took only 5-10 mins to complete the process. I know the price is a bit high 40USD but in my opinion it is worth spending.
PS: The views expressed in this post are of author's only. I am not advertising htccode neither do i have any affiliation with them.

I am not willing to spend over $10 . Anway, the Locked Rogers X10a I have right now is in Black and I really don't like it as much as I like my white X10i. So, ordered an unlocked White X10a this time and will sell my black X10a if I can't get it unlocked in a week or so. If I can get it to unlock I might just use it and give the white X10a to my wife.

SGS2 O2 PAYG in my hands

This morning I called O2 to check on my PAYG order and was told it is out of stock so the order was not processed. Went to the local O2 and bought one! Very happy!
Quick notes below and I will add more info later. If you have questions please ask:
1. Screen is AMAZING - looks like a high-gloss magazine print, but very little reflections.
2. The device is SIM locked to O2. In store I was told it is locked for a year but I can unlock it with after market shops and services (non-O2). I already had an O2 PAYG SIM so no need to buy one. Vodafone SIM requires Network Lock Control Key. Will checkout online unlock options.
UPDATE: Paid online for unlock service at http://www.mobileunlocked.co.uk/. Tracking informations states 'Order in Progress with Bulk Supplier. Delivery Time: 6 to 12 Hours from order time'.
UPDATE 2: Got unlock code back in 11 minutes! Unlock successful!
3. O2 stuff: Wallpaper is a panorama view of the O2 arena area (actually nice!). Boot and shutdown screens are with O2 logo. No other O2 stuff and no O2 apps.
4. About info:
Kernel version: 2.6.35.7-I9100XWKDD-CL161513
Build number: GINGERBREAD.XWKDD
Baseband version: I9100XXKDH
Congratulations...you'll enjoy it very much

Are you sure it is SIM free? Mine wasn't and it doesn't seem likely they have both SIM-locked and SIM-free devices.
I got mine in North Finchley. They had one unit and I asked to reserve for me and they did.
I really hate the O2 logo on boot and shutdown. Anyway to remove it?
Well it has my vodafone sim card in it now and its working. It was the first sim card ever put into the device.
