Bargain price for a n1 or what? - Nexus One General

hey guys,
I'm from canada, where the nexus 1 has not been released, so I found a person who's selling a 1 week old nexus one for 625 dollars. Is it a bargain or what?

Anything less that the £420 i paid in total for mine i'd consider a bargain
£420 = $636 USD
$655 Canadian

Is that cheaper shipped than you can get it retail? Not sure what sort of duty you pay having it shipped into Canada.

lol, it got sold missed it

Order it yourself using this:
http://www.demailbox.com/
It'll cost you their fee (probably about $10), whatever shipping method you choose to canada and canadian tax.
You won't pay US tax, nor US shipping since its free. So it'll be $528 + $10 + shipping + tax
Which is only $10 more than it would cost you if google did ship to canada!
There are loads of other 'virtual US' mailbox services you can use. Just be carefull to choose one in a state that doesnt have US sales tax, or you'll pay US tax AND canadian tax.

Until now this is the best buy it now offer i found on ebay....it is a lot cheaper than the price sold in UK.....also looking at the prices i think if the supply is enough the price of Nexus S will drop quite quickly.

Auctions are slightly cheaper.
$631 + $40 shipping.
$612 + $75.95 shipping.

Because "Best" Buy has put an embargo on exports to Europe - "known freight forwarders" included. This idiotic policy leads to black market prices here.

What do you guys think is a fair price to sell the NS on eBay for including shipping?
Don't forget about eBay and PayPal fees.

Shipping where? Next door or overseas? There might be a tiny difference.
What would be a decent markup, excluding shipping? There's little point in selling it on for a meagre $10 profit. As a buyer, I don't think I'd pay more than $50 extra, which gives $579 + shipping. What are the fees on that?

The problem is: There is no fair price because of those fees and taxes. When I get the phone for $670 (shipment incl.) on eBay, I have to pay another 19% VAT for importing the phone to Europe.
So here we are:
$529 at "Best" Buy
$700 using a "known freight forwarder" (forbidden by "Best" Buy)
$800 via eBay.
That's what I call "black market prices".

But the $529 is without taxes. Add your 19% VAT and it's $630. If you wait until it's being sold locally, the local store price would be $630 or more. Whatever you pay on top of that is for the privilege of getting the phone before it's officially for sale.
Have you seen the official UK prices?

I was thinking overseas.
eBay
Here's an example of a final value fee calculation for an auction-style listing:
You sell an item for $100.00.
Your final value fee is 9% of the final sale price, which is $9.00.
The maximum final value fee for auction-style listings is $50. For example, if you sell an item for $1,000, you’ll pay only $50, even though 9% of $1,000 is $90.
PayPal
There is a fee to send money as a personal payment using a debit card or credit card. The fee in the U.S. is 2.9% plus $0.30 USD of the amount you send. For example, if you send $100.00 USD by credit card, the fee would be $3.20 USD ($2.90 + $0.30). For personal payments, the sender can pay the fee or pass it on to the recipient. If the recipient doesn't want to pay the fee, they can choose not to accept the payment.
When you sell through ebay the seller takes on this cost which is about $19.20.
So my $579 phone would actually cost $50 just in eBay fees?

Yep, plus shipping. So that's $629.00 plus. The seller only makes around $30.00 bucks off this deal because of the $19.20 PayPal fee unless they pass the cost on to you. If that because BestBuy charges tax (Or maybe not) 6.5% here on top of the $529.
That's the cheapest I've seen one go for on eBay actually: http://cgi.ebay.com/Google-Nexus-S-...0711263301?pt=Cell_Phones&hash=item33636a9c45

$529(phone price)+$50(eBay fee)+$19.20(PayPal fee)+$38 to $79(International shipping varies)= $628.20 to $668.20 now add taxes to that.
Lets say $650 shipped is a great deal and that's with no money being made.*

A whopping $850+ for International version in Canada!!

Is it me or are people paying over $850 for the international version of the S3?!?!
That's crazy, the 32GB is $930+ ...
I was hoping the ISPs would carry so I would only have to pay around $200 with contract, and now I'm never going to get one :'(

Mine will run me approximately $760 after taxes and fees imported from clove.co.uk

You must realize that for some (myself included) it is just easier to buy off someone/business that will have it locally than to worry about shipment issues, delays, taxes etc.
As far as I can see, the average price for the international version 16GB is between CAN$720 and $750, add shipping and ON/BC HST on top and you're looking at way over $800. Plus most of these folks on kijiji and craigslist that are selling this, they do it for small profit.
I am patiently waiting for the blue colored one and I go through a great phone importer from BC, i.e. MobileDNA. Those guys are great with the numerous transactions that I have done with them over the years.

That's where I got my Galaxy Note (they served me well). What kind of price did you get from them? I emailed them just a moment ago.
ya, ive ordered my last couple phones from handtec (HD2, S2, S3) and they've all come up to around the same price of $700 after shipping.
But since i live in Ontario, the tax gets me hard and is usually around $100 once the package comes from FedEX - making it a total of $800
ya its steep, but im such a sucker for new phones so ya.
You're looking at ~$800 if you live in Ontario - other places in Canada will have cheaper tax so you'll pay a bit less
Hola
I have bought from Handtec myself. My greatest concerns were always about getting warranty on these high-end devices. As you would know IF something was wrong with the phone, shipping it back to the UK was required, this in itself was stress. I saw a few posts here when the S2 was originally launched that some folks had to ship it back, and then wait like a few weeks before getting back a replacement. I wanted to avoid this potential issue and hence looked for a Canadian distributor to handle this stuff.
Interestingly the only reputable company I found was way out west in BC... hence I now buy all my latest phones through them.
Killing me to know that I have to wait on the blue colored version until next week or so.

Best place to buy Nexus 7 from Europe

Hey guys, I'm from Romania and would like to buy the Nexus 7 from somewhere in the US, an online store or something. Google Play hardware isn't available in my country yet but even if it was, I want the US version.
I've found it on Amazon, but the shipping fee is like $100 Just wondering if there are other alternatives.
Thanks!
I bought this one, http://www.ebay.com/itm/Google-Nexu...60475906994?pt=US_Tablets&hash=item53ee09d3b2 . But you can always try and find a cheaper one, but this one has pretty fast shipping

Normally I'd do that, but the GBP is more expensive than the USD and I would end up paying more of my local currency if I bought it from UK. For instance, with 17 Pounds shipping from Handtec + the price of the tablet and everything is already above the Amazon US price + $100 shipping.

Buying from T-Mobile?

I think the full price is $499. Is this for 16GB version? And is this tax included?
Thanks.
Why would you buy it from T-mobile for $499.99 when you can get a 16GB unlocked for $349.99 straight from Google. Also http://lmgtfy.com/?q=how+much+is+the+nexus+4+for+t-mobile .

Well, I would love to buy it for $350 but I'm currently a tourist in the United States and have no permanent US address. If you have any other recommendations, they would be appreciated.
And I know that it's $500 from T-Mobile but I was wondering if the sales tax is included or not.
My guess is the $500 is without tax included.

Explain this to me........

Allright now the canadian dollar is worth more than the american dollar so why is the nexus 4 more expensive. Shouldnt it be cheaper? Now its 359 for the 16gb version right and fricking taxes and shipping make it 416$! so pissed.

Don't care? Check.
Ask your government, it probably costs extra since it comes from the US.
Either that or Google doesn't like you guys.
Because Cell-phone market is more stable than Stock Market.
Also it doesn't matter how much the cell-phone cost is in one country and compared to other. There may be extra charges like custom duty, tax, and VAT. Thus the price may increase
Currency isn't the only factor involved in pricing.
with google its not so bad but many other companies price hike in different regions; best example i can give is here in australia photoshop is twice the price that it is in the US but our dollar is worth more than the american dollar ......how that makes sense i dont know.
with Google play however its probably added import costs and taxes added to the price $416 is about the same as what we pay in Australia after shipping + tax and i believe US price is like $385-$395 inc tax + shipping so the price difference is pretty close so i don't think its a case of Google screwing regions over.
Probably because it ships from the US into Canada, then there's also tariffs and whatnot. RIM is based in Canada so methinks they really do have an Apple and Android tax.
And in Europe it costs 349 Euro, they just exchanged the currency symbol and added 10 CAD Dollar more.
So basically the unit costs 362 USD in Canada which is still cheaper then Europe with 459 USD (349 Euro)

Im sorry that im complaining about that much money, i dont have much. If you do please give me some.....douchebag.
The price it is set, is determined by not only currency costs, but also factors such as transportation costs, tariffs (although there is no apple or android tax), in some cases the necessity to have French on it as well. There are many reasons, and simply put we are talk about less than 10$. As it relates to this case, I doubt there is an international tax/tariff, Google has a Toronto office where these phones are from, they are shipped from Kentucky, and no duties are applied, which suggests they are covered under NAFTA.

If i calculated correctly for my province(~15% federal tax+Qc provincial tax) i pay 412 before shipping... besides aren't you used to it yet? We keep getting screwed over on pricing for so many things in Canada its life (although I'm sure other places have it worse) I'm not rly complaining since I'm still gonna get it and brag to all my friends lol its still a pretty good price for a phone like this can't wait (for it to come back on Play store and I can order lol)

Yeah there are some sort of extra fees charged as well, whether it be tarrifs or import taxes, etc. The Nexus4 costing $9 more here is actually quite good compared with the iPads that cost $20 more, and the iPhone5's that cost a whopping $50 more. $50 more, seriously... I'm just happy the Nexus4 is a minute $9 more.
