I have a very recently purchased XDA II.
I was under the impression that the battery time was considerably improved.
Although I have turned down the backlight brightness when on battery power, it still starts to loose power when I receive or send a SMS for example.
Is this normal or do I have a duff battery ?

I've had mine a week, have the same power drain problem. After charging it all last night I managed to use it as a PDA for a total of 40 mins over a 6 hour period today before the battery drained. No phone calls were made, Bluetooth disconnected (I do have a 256 MB card installed, but I don't know if this has anything to do with it), furthermore the backlight is set to the default setting and the auto power off set to 1 min. In any case I would expect to get more than 40 mins use of the PDA, the specification states upto 15 hours.
I took the unit back to the store, they say that this is a rare problem (yeah right :roll: ), they gave me a new battery which I am now recharging, hopefully this will work.

I am doing a test now. I have a imate with the official imate upgrade. I have a gps sysonchip bt. One and half hours ago i connected the imate with the gps and i started a demo of 500 km. Now the battery is at 75%.....Maybe de last upgrade solved this problem.... :shock:
You should get far better performance than this.
Three things that can drain the power:
Communications/Peripherals - IR, bluetooth, SDIO wireless LAN etc. Disable all of them unless you're actually using them.
Processor hungry programs - check if you have anything running in the background that could prevent the device switching to full sleep mode.
Lack of radio signal - if you're out of contact with a base station, the device tries to connect at full power every 30s - a big battery drain, so if you know you're out of contact, turn off the radio.
However, even with everything running, I'd expect a running time way above 40mins, so it sounds like you have a hardware problem with your device. I easily get 3h full brightness, full processing (ie watching a movie or playing a game) with radio on.

tried the new battery today, same procedure as yesterday (no bluetooth etc), had a slightly better performance today from the new battery, managed to get roughly an hours actual use out of the PDA (games etc) over a period of... 10 hours, ooh atleast it lasted the working day so must be better... however still no way near the 15 hours PDA work time as stated on the box!
However something I have noticed is that every now and then (after switching off the unit and just leaving it on the desk) the screen comes to life displaying a running program, (just how do you turn off the media player? I now realise it isnt with the "X"). Anyway why does it "power" back up? I wonder if this has anything to do with my power problem, that perhaps it has switched back on whilst in my pocket (BTW I have set the buttons so that they do not switch the PDA on accidently)
So, I'm recharging again, (I think I might take the MMC card out see if tht makes a difference). I expect something better for my EUR 500, what is the point of being able to go online anywhere if you have to be plugged into the mains! If I can't get the damn thing to work satisfactoraily by next week then it is going back to the shop, despite it being a Gucci shiny piece of kit!
@MoistVelvet: Actually, it;s not so much the device itself but the operating systems that is the cause of a few quirks. Luckily, a lot has been written on this forum and other forums on websites such as www.ppcw.net. A lot can been improved by limiting the number of programs that can be found in the \windows\startup folder of the XDA II. I'd suggest you have a look around in the various topics. I ended up honing my XDA II to a point where I am actually very very satisfied with it's performance ...
Can someone repost the items in the windows start up folder than can be deleted and what they do on the XDA II.
I was surprised at the amount of apps in there, but dont know what I can safely delete.

Well the batery did last longer yesterday, managed to get through a whole workig day before it ran out, so the jury is still out!
Realised perhaps one of the reasons why the unit would switch itself on, whilst at work I have a very low signal, so every minute or two the signal strength would go up and switch the screen on. I have set to auto switch off after 1 min, but I wonder if there is there a way to stop it from switching on?
Hm, my experience is quite different. I use it throughout the day with around 15 phone calls, at least 2 GPRS synchronisations, some other usage of contacts, calendar and email and when I get home it's still around 60 percent - the most drain appears to happen on the way back home when I use the BT headset...
When your uses so much more power you may like to check what kind of programs you use. First idea is to have a critical look at fancy today plugins... my worst experience was with Battery Pack, the best way to empty your battery :lol:
Maybe you like to use UpTime plugin (http://ae.inc.ru/uptime_t.html) which really tells you how much you actually use the PocketPC and which doesn't do anythings while it's switched off...

Actually, the reason it periodically switches on is the O2 Homezone application. Whenever your phone changes to a new base station (which can happen even if you don't move), the stupid Homezone app turns the phone on. This is a known issue, and the only known remedy is to disable the app completely (remove from Autostart folder, soft reset phone).

I have an xdaII, which i load loads and loads of things onto. I did find that the battery was draining quite quickly. eg. charge it all night, just leaving it running in the day with hardly any use would drain the battery by about 90 percent! Bluetooth was off etc.
One time, the thing drained completely, and it needed a hardboot. Im going to send it back shortly for investigation/repairs.
However, since it hardbooted, i have not installed a thing. And i am finding that the battery is lasting a lot longer. I managed to go 3 days, of average usage, (few incoming/outgoing calls), without charging the battery!
This makes me think some apps must cause the battery to drain. I had battery app installed (that runs in today screen). I had fonix voicedial installed. I had quite a few games installed.
I think some software was causing the battery consumption,.. possibly battery pack.

I have previously had problems with battery drain, due to apps running in the background.
I also found specific apps like the battery pack, LAN sdio, bluetooth and the camera app, would drain the battery quickly.
Although you can manage closing apps down through settings/system/memory/running programmes I found the app Gigatask http://gigatask.com/ a simpler way to manage tasks.
There are others, but I found this suitable for my needs.
Now when I close an app I know it's closed and not running in the background draining the battery.
I still charge daily, habit now when I get home from work, but I have no worries about battery drain, and it rarely goes lower than 65% for a normal days use.

I was just wondering what is the average time of battery life on your wing..mines is currently about 10 hours idle but while im using it that goes down to about 5 or 4 i just wanted to know what is the average before i call t-mobile and ask for a new battery.
A few of us here have been having problems with the battery actually. When I first got the phone, I left it clean and stock. I would do a lot of texting, make a couple phone calls, and play a few games here and there. From 7am to 1am, I would go from 100% to about 54% (18 hours of usage). Now, if I leave my phone idle for 2 hours, my battery drops down from 100% to 80%... I can't even go a full day without needing to charge the darn thing. 200 hour idle time my arse!
But personally, I don't think it's a problem with the battery... The phone is doing something in the background which is causing a massive battery drain. Right now, I'm testing my phone to see if I still suffer the same drain while in flight mode. I'll post the results HERE in about an hour from now.

the more features you use, the more power it'll consume.. if you do a lot of internet browsing, I believe I saw GPRS Data connections use more power then WiFi.. so use wifi when available ...
also, be sure to regularly check your phone's task manager before setting it aside for long periods of time... sometimes it can be hard to notice the camera, text/mms, calender, Internet Explorer, Windows Media Player, are all running in the background while you're at the home screen...
My wing usually lasts me from unplug at 8am until plugin at midnight... power usage always varies a lot as... as you can tell.. the data connections use a lot of power... and if wifi isn't available, it uses at least 30% more power doing a GPRS Transfer -- based on the initial information i've read about the issue.

I noticed Bluetooth and WiFi taking more battery than GPRS
As long as I plug it in while I am at work to a USB cable, I don't seem to have any battery problems. I use GPRS and SMS constantly.
I spend the whole day on the phone ... between texting and I receive all my work email directly to my phone... so I'm on it various times during the hour... and it seems the battery drain is huge.
all I have done is turn the screen brightness down whenever I'm not using it, and have the dynamic overclocking on, so the processor goes down whenever its not in use ... but I still think the battery drain on the wing is ridiculous.

Im clocked at 247mhz, i can make it last about 24 hours using it here and there. calls about once a hour for 5 min or less, texting through the day, and occasional wifi use. at stock clock speeds, it lasted about a day and a half, but it all depends how much you use it
At 1st i thought the battery darin was rediculous as well but when u think about it when u use it the battery goes down about 8 times as fast( depensing on what ur actually doing w/ it.
Now i charge it at night and go to school with fully loaded battery 6AM, i text all the time and when i get home its around 85% 2:30PM, use it occasionally and at the end of the day after at least 3 hours of talk time its on around 30-20% i could last w/o charging it but i charge it overnight to full, with NORMAL use and not talking for about 4 hours per day so far its lasted 4 days for me. could have made it to 6 but i wanted to showoof my new phone to my friend
so battery life is not that bad just depends how much u use it, Also if ur listening to music just turn off the screen and thats a REAL battery saver. also press the power button when on the phone and etc.
Wing Battery Drain
I have improved my Wing battery drain by doing the following...
- Turn off the automatic weather update on the Today Plug-in
- Check my emails manually (do send receive when I am ready to read)
- Suspend device when not in use - need to use device lock app.
- Update ROM to PDA Viet v 14 (thanks to easy instructions from David)
With the new ROM and the device locked - even the accidental press of any of the face buttons (when phone is in pocket) turns the device back on - even though the screen remains locked (due the Device lock app). Is there any way to suspend the device completely so can only be turned on by hitting the power button only? I would still want to receive / answer calls etc. without having to hit the power button....
Go to settings, Lock ... and there is an option to lock all buttons except the power button when device is powered down.
I am trying to fix my sisters Wing (I have a Wizard). I have tried disabling background programs, as well as setting things to be more gentle on power usage, and still she loses battery like crazy. I know the Wizard had some battery drain issues with certain WM6 cooked roms, and a cab fix helped. Does anyone have a cab fix for the Wing? Also, reading in this forum section, it seems that the Wing doesn't always disable background programs. Would you suggest a third party task manager to "pick up the slack" or does it not matter, due to the nature of the winged beast?
I appreciate any suggestions. While I am new to the Herald, I am "old hat" on the Wizard, so I do have a general understanding of how the HTC devices work.

I have read a lot of bad stuff about battery life with every rom except the OME t-mo. I had the PDA viet and battery life was terrible, With the stock rom it is at least 4x longer.
hello ive the same problem with the last 4 wings ive and ever since ive switch from the stock Tmo OS and upgraded to the TouchFlo OS, Ive noticed a huge differnce with the battery life even overclocked
If your will to taking the risk ide say go for it, i jus started messing around with rom and i got say its a big improvment from the original wing which i was ready to throw against a wall!!
I have Touch Flo on my Wing, and if I charge it to capacity I usually only need to do so it every other day so long as I don't play any NES games on it. I keep the wifi off if I'm not using it of course. I have it dynamically stepping the CPU in a range from 100mhz to 234mhz. It really seems to help extend the battery for me, while still giving it the tiny extra kick it needs to run nes and sms games.
My wife has the official wm6 rom on hers, but is also dynamically overclocked as mine is. She needs to charge hers nightly, BUT she also plays solitaire and bubble breaker daily.
Overall it's on par for battery life with my prior motorola phone, which I never used for anything but regular phone calls. With that in mind I'm not necessarily impressed, but am definitely content with it.
I've had HORRIBLE battery life and AWESOME battery life, all within the same week. lol
There was a problem I had at one time, where filesys.exe would take over all the CPU and kill my battery.
Here's what I do, though.
Dynamic overclocking/underclocking
Turn off GPRS when not in use
Disable Push Mail
Turn off WIFI and Bluetooth
Turn the screen brightness down
Turn off the screen altogether, even when on a call, unless you need to see what's on it
There's a few tweaks out there that deal with enabling the power saving features on L2TP and stuff...

I've had my wing about a week now and have a question concerning battery usage.
It has always been my understanding that batteries will develop a "memory" if you charge and recharge them under their full charge capacity.
i.e. if you use it down to 60% and then charge it to 100% it will remember that and not use the full original 100% charge. obviously over time not just from a single "half charge" like that.
So since every time you connect it to USB to sync it begins the charging process, won't that wear down the battery and make it develop such a memory?
Is their anyway to connect to to the PC without having it charge?
I have always preferred to have any mobile device drain it's battery to nearly empty before recharging to try and minimize the memory effect.

Today's lithium ion batteries do not develop this like older rechargable batteries. You can plug your phone in at any time without worrying about losing battery capacity!

I listen to Streaming Radio with my Wing at work all day. I get approximately 4 hours of listening time before I have to swap out with another fully charged battery.
I use PBar to shut off the screen while listening.
I'm running the touch rom without the actual touch. I can't remember which one it is. I spend at least an hour a day gaming (text twist, random solitaires) on it. I usually hit up the web a few times a day for 10 minutes a shot. I use it as an ebook reader. I send txts constantly. I talk about half an hour a day. All this leaves me with about 30% - 50% of my battery by day's end. Now, if I turn on bluetooth all day it will end up around 18%. Wifi is such an evil power hog I never turn it on, EDGE is fast enough for me. I charge my every night under my pillow (it's my alarm too). Battery life has been the same since I got it about 6 months ago.
Edited to add: I also do some dynamic underclocking for things that don't need a huge amount of power, like my budget program, etc.

This seems to be one of the most prevalent hardware-related problems I've encountered after perusal of numerous boards.
Charging, it heats up. Duh. Fine. Disconnect, put it in my breast pocket after it cools down, twiddle my thumbs. During this whole time, for purposes of this test, EVERYTHING is switched off: phone radio, wifi, bt, push, and as many of the background processes as I can kill without having the phone hang on me.
You'd think the symptoms would be the same every time. But nooooo...this thing has a mind of its own. Sometimes it'll be 5 mins before I start feeling the heat, sometimes 40. It's totally unpredictable. I've tried every way I can find to extend the battery life with no luck; this is getting retarded.
So: Battery life drops drastically once the thing starts heating up. But not before. From 3PM to 4PM today, battery life was at 100% and did not move. Sweeeet! I thought...too soon. Got that warm and fuzzy feeling - then it's in free fall. 10% down in 45mins, another 20% by 5:30, dead as a doornail by 8PM. That's exactly FIVE hours of "standby" with ZERO activity. Screen was turned on maybe 4 times just to check battery status. 200 hours of standby?? Sure, in a deep freezer packed with dry ice...
Installed Batti: if anyone with close to normal (advertised?) battery life has also installed it, could you tell me what your temperatures are like? When I'm charging, I'm at 35.6C. My voltage is at 4.213V - this might be the problem since the battery is listed as a 3.7V 1500mAH. Also, I removed the charger for about 30 seconds after Batti said it was charged, then reinserted it. It took about 30 minutes to tell me again that it was full - all the while listing the "Percent" as 100%. Gah!
Anyway - back to the reason I've posted:
1) Is this a phone issue, tweak/registry/software issue, or a good old fashioned battery issue? I've got another battery coming in shortly but it's nothing special, not sure of the brand, just want to compare it to this one - which is a Seidio.
2) If anyone else has had this problem and solved it, please let me know what you did.
3) This phone is for sale if anyone wants it and knows how to fix it. Other than the 5 hours of battery life, the phone is perfect.

The only time I've ever had this problem was when I installed the very first Palringo mobile beta, and it continuously polled the Palringo servers whenever it was connected... I had a battery life of about an hour and a half!
I can only suggest you have some poorly-written app on your device which is polling some piece of hardware or using (or trying to use!) the data connection, subsequently failing and looping round to try again and again.
I'm not using Batti (using the BatteryStatus Today Screen plugin), but it shows temps - I'm charging my device at the moment and it shows ~41 degrees celcius. When I unplug the charger, I have about 70mW usage and when I tap to turn the backlight back on it roughly doubles (backlight on its lowest setting). Using roughly 40-45mA just idling, I have push mail turned on and ActiveSync is syncing probably every 5/10 minutes or so (can't remember the interval).
I get about a day's worth of usage including regular phone usage, data usage, then locking the device (including turning the backlight off) when it's just on the desk or in my pocket (less if I have BT turned on all the time, obviously). All I can think of is that you have some app on there which is either interacting with something else or causing the problem itself.

There are threads around about certain manufacturer brands (there are a couple of different brands) and their performance..
i had a dynatec and it was crappy.. took it back and got a sanyo battery and all was good...

Hi. I seemed to have the same problem recently. I think my radio was the new 1.54.00.10. I have two batteries and each one was killed in 6 to 8 hours.
I first downgraded the radio to 1.51.00.10 and it seemed a little bit better, but upon upgrading to 1.54.70.00, it seemed to have gone away. My OS is Pandora's 7.1 w/ 3.62.
With 1.51.00.10, I was able to get over a day's worth of life on one charge in 3G/H mode. It seems this 1.54.70.00 is giving me more life, but I'm still testing.
Maybe give this a try, upgrading to 1.54.70.00 and a 3.62 os. No problems for me so far and it seems like it's a keeper!

Soft reset when it starts getting warm, soft reset after charging if it is warm when on the charger.
My 8525 used to have this problem, but it went away on its own. However, soft resets when the device felt warm did solve the problem when it was occurring. Note that my phone is no longer warm while charging, either.
A lot of people try various radio upgrades/downgrades and ROM changes to fix this, but I think that's on the wrong track as I've never seen anyone report that doing these things made any difference. However, if you're not using WM6, I recommend at least making that change.
Other than that, hit the reset button if it starts to feel warm for no reason and after charging, and you should be fine.
My guess on this is that there is some kind of problem where the device thinks it is plugged in when it isn't, and then it over stresses the battery causing the heat and fast battery drain.
My experience
I am on Rogers in Canada, the same company that owns Fido, and I wonder if there is a problem with their network/ActiveSync/3G/units compatibility.

Radio: 1.42.00.00
Recently activated Push Email and connecting to exchange server via Activesync. Push requires an "always-on" data connection. It seemed to have been working fine for about 2 days, then suddenly my unit started to heat up significantly, (luckily no screen warp), and my battery would drain from 100% to 0% in 5 hours (if I was lucky). Unsatisifed with Rogers suggestion that replacing the unit with a refurbished unit was the way to go... I continued my research and experimentation and 48 hours later here is whatI came upwith so far:
1) Hard Reset - did not help the situation
2) Soft Reset when heating up - did not help the situation
3) Most frequently associated activity - ActiveSync on with 3G Data Connecton enabled and server directed to exchange server... no difference depending on how often I had the mobile device ping the exchange server. The heat and battery drain occurred while the TyTN was in hibernation (dead unit in the AM when I awoke).
4) Battery drain modifiers - worsens with worsening heat, worsens and acclerates if you remain in an area of low signal (less than 2 bars showing)
Best solution(s)/explanation(s) to date:
1) 3G is a battery killer - it uses a lower intenisty signal, and it generally draws heavier on the battery and hardware when using the network
2) In Phone settings, switching your Band to GSM (2G) fixes the device into one band (does not allow automatic switching and constant detection of best signal). Unless you are a real Power User and rely heavily on every ounce of speed that can be squeezed out of 3G there is no noticeable difference.
3) I have switched off the "receive allincoming beams" for the Ir interface to conserve every mV of power in my battery.
4) Since the switch (a few hours now) I have had no heat issues and the voltage has remained stable with ActiveSync on and mild websurfing to download a couple of CABs... granted it is minimal usage as it is 2:30AM but I think this may be the trick (on Rogers with a TyTN anyways)
I'll keep an eye on this and do some more analysis on the battery... Any input readily welcomed...

I recently tweaked reg with some battery hacks, locked it into 2G and all has been well. Holding a charge with the data connection engaged 24/7 - drops to about 65% charge over 24h, having to charge only every 2nd/3rd day...

I know this is going to be made especially difficult with all the different software/combo's that can be loaded, but I have to post this up and see if any one else has seen this and if it might be hardware or software.
I have a HERMS 100 (8525). I first got the phone in April with WM5 (don't know which build they might have been on then) and which ever Radio was coming on them then. My battery would usually last 2 days with my avg use.
This has been the case threw upgrades until the last 2-3 months. I upgraded From one version of WM6 to VP3G's 2.X build of WM6 and I upgraded the radio to which ever version was the newest at that time (maybe 1.47 or 1.50). I Noticed a sudden drop in battery life, but the phone pretty much always made it a full day even with high use, so I didn't think much of it. I did notice about this time that sometimes the phone would alarm me and say it had 20% battery remaining, but if I rebooted the phone it would say 80 or 90% power remaining when it came back on and work fine the rest of the day.
The following has been over the last month. I upgraded to VP3G's 3.0 and again later to 3.6 and again to 3.62. I noticed the battery continued to degrade throughout this time. So I upgraded the radio to 1.54. The battery continued to go down hill at an even rate, but I noticed something else, the battery would not take very long to charge, but was dying faster and faster.
Well I started tracking and experimenting. Starting last week (no change in software or ROM's for the last 2 or 3 weeks) the battery would rarely make it through the day even when the phone was not in use any during the day (Granted I get no cell service at my desk at work, but I never have even back when the phone would last 2 days searching for signal). Most days last week it wouldn't make it 5 hours from being unplugged even when the phone wasn't in use. I decided to run the battery all the way down to where it wouldn't even turn the phone on anymore as I had heard sometimes you needed to do that after a rom upgrade. It did not help, but I noticed that the phone said the battery was fully charged within 2 hours from being completely dead.

Today was the worst, I unplugged it after being plugged in all night. Unplugged it at 6:45am. I did not use the phone, it just stayed in standby (I hadn't even taken it out of standby any today. I am at work with no service (When I say no service, I don't mean sometimes it finds something, I mean no cell service from any carrier makes it past 10 feet of the front doors entering the building and I am about 150 feet from the closest wall to the outside). I grab the phone at around 10:30am to check on a meeting notice, clicked on the phone to wake up and the battery alarm alerted and the battery said I only had 20% power remaining. In 5 minutes of doing what I was doing the battery had gone down to 10% remaining (so the phone went from lost 90% of it's power, never being used in less then 4 hours). I went back to my desk, plugged the phone back in and within an hour I noticed the amber light on the front that I relate it to telling me it's charging had turned green, I unplugged it and checked it and the battery said it was full 100%. Could the battery really charge that fast?

I know this would be easier if I could remember what radio and what version of WM5 came on this phone and loaded it back on and I am in the middle of downgrading the radio since I had ran WM6 with no battery issues separate from WM5 until I did that one upgrade with the radio. I guess I am curious if this could be a hardware (phone or battery) where it's not charging fully or if this seems to be a software issue.
I know all the factors that can be involved make this hard, but thanks for any responses you guys can give.
ok, how about this one, Is my battery screwed? I notice while I am using the phone the battery gets really hot. Today it did the same thing of all of a sudden saying I had 10% power after only using it for 5 mintues, rebooted the phone and now I am back to 70%.

Some solutions you might try:
- turn wifi off.
- turn off all beams
- put in the fake server trick.
- search to see if you have any software that continuously polls the battery or is seeking an exchange server
- ensure all your apps fully close rather than minimise
- invest in a new battery.

Thanks, I have gone through the wiki Continuasly since I got the phone in April, but with all the stuff out there, I could have easily missed something.
- turn wifi off - Never turn it on
- turn off all beams - Beaming disabled
- put in the fake server trick - Have to research that one
- search to see if you have any software that continuously polls the battery or is seeking an exchange server - have to check, don't have exchange server setup. I do have it checking emails every 15 minutes, but I never had any issues with that setting and the battery lasting a couple of days
- ensure all your apps fully close rather than minimise - X button set to close not minimize and I often check it to see whats running.
- invest in a new battery. - Will be doing that next. Just waiting to see what case I might get for Christmas.

I had a similar problem where the stock battery would only ever last for ~7-8 hours - even on standby. I got an extended life 3000mAh battery and that managed to last for about 14 hours.
I had a talk to HTC and they agreed to warranty claim it. I'm still waiting for it back... It was sent back to them on 14/11, and I'm still waiting.
Stop your device checking for emails for a few days and ses what happens. Definitely install the fake server trick. Activesync continuosly trying to do its dirty work can be a pain in the arsenal, at times.

Well I turned off email checks last night and disabled the radio this morning so it wouldn't search for signal when coming to work and set the phone on my desk. I never used it this morning, just had it sitting on my desk in standby, until about 4 hours after I took it off the charger and the phone buzzed me and when I checked the phone the battery said 0% remaining and the phone cut off a few seconds later (now I am sure if I would have turned it back on the battery would say something like 70%, but I didn't do that this time). I left the phone off and plugged it into the computer to charge, the LED on the front come on amber for about 20 minutes then went to green. I turned the phone on and it says 100%. I don't see how the battery went from 0 to 100 in a matter of 20 minutes.
I did a lot of searching the last couple of days and phone issues from email to bad manufactured batteries (which I happen to have the brand someone suggested as a bad one), I also saw people pointing out do the fake server trick, yet I can't find a single time where anyone said what the trick is or how to do it. Not even in the WIKI where the trick was mentioned as a possible fix (or google for that matter, just the same words first posted in a thread here about it).
So, how do you do this server trick?
I plan to get a new battery after Christmas at any rate.

I was having the same battery drain problem (less than 8 hrs on a full charge), I did the fake server and turned off auto day light saving time checking the clock settings, I now get 12 - 15 hrs on a full charge.
I'm running vp3G's 3.62.3 AT&T ROM with radio 1.54.07.00
Thanks! I was just finishing flashing a new ROM when I saw this. I did the fake server trick, but this rom doesn't have the Dya Light Savings time option where the instructions say it should be. Maybe that's all removed by this rom. TIme will tell.

I am using a JasJam for the last 2 months. i dont know if my reply is useful to you or not. As far as battery life is concerned am impressed with mine. Am using TNT's latest ROM and my radio version is 1.54.07.00. I use my phone all day with couple of calls that last about 2-3 min each. But every night I get calls from my gf, to whom I talk for 3 hours straight(mostly starting from 11pm to 2 am) and every day I put my phone to charge after I finish the call. So after finishing the call I still have 50% of battery. Moreover our call starts right after I leave work at 11pm so by the time I reach home which is around 11.30pm my phone connects to wifi too. So all the time am on the call as well as an active wifi connection.
So as per my experience the battery life is cool. So try TNT ROM!!!
Interestingly enough, now I've got my phone back from the warranty claim, it's only drawing 81mA with backlight on, no wifi or BT. Before sending it back, it was drawing ~180mA with backlight on, no wifi or BT.
This will just about double the battery life that I get in theory...
Install BatteryStatus on your device and see what it tells you.

First off I really hope it isn't the phone, for one it's my third one from Cingular since the first two died within 2 weeks (back in may), second it's got one big gash down the corner where it came out of the holder and hit the road one day. I think that would be just enough reason for them to not do anything with it.
Anyway, I am going to replace the battery because I can't figure out why the phone is doing things like saying it has 20% batt remaing, then I reboot and it goes to 70%. I am hoping this is a battery issue. So far the phone has been unplugged for a tad less then one hour, has not been used and the battery meter is on 90%.
Battery Status is a kick butt program and I plan to do some searching today to see if people have benchmarked there ratings/draw. I notice mine jumps randomly. With wifi, BT, all programs all terminated, backlight on the lowest it will go and radio has one bar 3g sometimes, two bars Edge sometimes, but didn't change during watching this list below, but the MA does this every 5 second refresh:

I am currently running a barebones fresh flash WM6 rom with nothing installed except Cingulars media net/ISP settings, radio is 1.47.10. Going to try 1.50 today I think.
I turned the radio off just now and the MA went down (expected) to 84 and is jumping between that and 104. The battery has dropped to 80% since I listed 90 above. The phone has now been unplugged for right at an hour. Also it might be interesting to note that the little battery percent/bar icon on the "Battery Status" software once in a while will display -1% like it is right now, the phones battery display says 80% and when I tap the battery icon on battery status it jumps to 80%.
Anyway, I am just listing points since this thread is here, I know I need to replace the battery first before any additional insight can be brought forward.

Hmm.. On my Schaps 4.22full, radio 1.54.00 on good reception (on Finnish network) I get around 30 mA with GSM and 3G when idling(no wifi, no bluetooth, no beam, backlight around halfway). With airplane mode on I get around 28 mA. Tried with backlight dimmest and the drain was 15mA on GSM network.
Usually I put the 3G off so the battery would last longer.
The phone takes more power when searching the network so it would be a good idea trying to switch the phone part off at your office.
Well, looks like it was indeed the battery. Over the last week the phone would randomly shut off (about 4 times a day), the battery would be at 10% within 4 hours even if the phone hadn't been used, and while using the phone you could almost watch the battery go from 90% to 30% within a 5 minute talk time, reboot the phone and it would be back at 80%.
Put in the new battery yesterday after charging over night and the phone not only didn't shut off at any point, but I had 60% power remaining by the end of the day (with some data and voice use).
The old battery was a Dynapack from China, that I had read on here is prone to defects.

Was having trouble with both issues, pulled battery with phone on, waited a minute, put battery back in, both problems fixed!

You wouldn't want do it if on a regular basis but you can try turning phone off, pulling battery out, putting it back in after a minute and if that doesn't work, try my method.
I would wait until the battery is super low and then reset network settings under the reset menu. Power down, pull battery and sim wait 30 sec to a minute and replace everything. Then plug in the phone first and then reboot. Let it charge completely and for about 20 minutes more after it reaches 100. If you do a lot of rebooting I have found the phone has issues. I only reboot with the phone plugged in, otherwise it drops 2% every reboot..
Be careful, I did that with a ZTE Zmax 2 once (75% charged battery) and it sent a phone into a bootloop. The only means of fixing it was that I luckily had a 2nd Zmax2 laying around and used its battery on the bootlooped phone which remedied the problem. Both batteries work fine , I just swapped them between the two phones.

I used to worry about this too. This is my first LG product and it MAY be different but at the Sprint store the first thing they would normally do is pull the nattery to look at the ESN. They never bothered to power it doen forst so I asked a couple times and was told it will mot hurt anything. I had Samsung products for uears and have done battery pulls at all levels of charge and for many reasons, but I never had a problem as long as the battery had enough juice left to boot the phone. If not I had to charge it, LoL.
Just thought I would share, I personally wouldn't worry.
I know on my old Nexus 6 pulling the battery with phone on was only an issue with fsync disabled using a custom kernel. I think most phones have built in protection to stop this from damaging the file system.
so a battery pull is your fix? lol some ppl should be hard resetting every so often regardlessi reboot at least once a day

my v20 phone battery draining was about 1% per hour before (about 7% totally ) and recently increased to 2% during sleeping time overnight. (draining 15% overnight in sleeping state)
it seems that during day either performance off battery is decreased.(about 5h with wifi and screen on usage)
Fast charging while second screen is On , is slower than when it is off therefore when second screen is Off , fast charging goes better . exactly , first 30 mins fast charging makes about 40% battery charge(instead of 50%) and after 60 min leads to 85% and full charging taking place after about 100 min instead of 80 mins.
another important thing is that sometimes shades have been seen on the LCD that many users have complained about it.

my actions are as follows :
phone is factory reseted. No third party apps is installed. [especially social media apps.]
battery calibration steps for not rooted phones is taken place.(turning off the phone and charging several times repeatedly).
testing battery drain in safe mode in done and didn't change results
turn off location services and location scanning for WiFi and Bluetooth scanning
turn off WiFi being On during screen is Off.
turn off auto sync, NFC, GPS etc.
not using auto brightness.
not using comfort view .

second screen is off during test overnight. (either with second screen is ON with faced down to lower brightness in other day test )
phone is in Air Plane Mode and all data services is off.
system apps like Google services and Play and Assistance is limited by permissions.

While I don't get extremely bad battery drain. The few times I've noticed it going down a bit faster than normal have had Android system at the top of the list or at least 2nd in place. A reboot usually fixes it for a while. This has happened in every ROM I've tried. Also I swear that stupid Wi-Fi scanning when WiFi is off option in locations settings turns itself on when it feels like it. I rarely turn my location on and I've checked a few times and that feature is on for whatever reason
Power down.
Pull battery.
Hold power button for one minute to discharge any juice that may be on the motherboard.
Let phone sit for 30 minutes.
Put battery back in.
Power up.
The motherboard and battery should now be re-calibrated. If you still have problems, try a new battery.
