Can not add new city - Touch Diamond2, Pure General

Yesterday I tried to add a new city from the weather-tab, but there where no city to choos from. I could just choose to search, or i thought I could, but when I enterd the city in the search-form, nothing mor than a warning signal sounden when I pressed the return-key on the keayboard, there where no searchbutton (I dont know I it suppoused to be). I have the same issue with the world clock.
I have winmo6.5 stock rom. I have also been using TD2 Tools, Topaz Tweeks and s2us.
Can it be any regestry key that is wrong or somthing else?

Many things can cause this.
some simple things to check are;
1. Does your SIP add a space after a word? This will cause it not to find a city. Simply hit backspace after city typed will bring up the list.
2. Sometimes your initial connection has to be through WiFi to get the city DB to update.
3. Depending on your location, there are some fixes out there for example Search Conflippers North America Weather v5, this updates the DB with most US Cities and zips.
Sorry I can't be more specific but your information is lacking, i.e., your location and carrier.

It have worked when I installed the 6.5, but no there seems to bee no cities. Is there a way to update the city database? It looks like the DB is empty.

1. the SIP issue will cause the DB to appear empty.
3. You can search for fixes specific to your area. I only know of the North America fix.

Interesting. Now I got answers when I search on the add city-page.

Install these 2 cabs to your device.
Warning; the DB is very slow so give it time to load after you type your city.
Kingsville is in there.

THanks Bruce
I can now add small cities In USA
Each state(US) is treated as a country and the country of united states is removed. Good Idea

Changing the location for the weather

Has anyone figured out how to change the weather location reported in the HTC plugin. I live in an area not listed in the initial setup (Sacramento, CA) and I found a few registry entries to change, but it did not seem to change the display. In fact, I think I might have broke it!!
I somehow got it to work the second time i tried it. I first reset it back using the interface, then edited the registry and added my city. Works great.
Could you explain exactly the modification ?
Thanks.
You can find the registry entry here...
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Software
HTC
HTCHome
Weather
Settings
You need to change the Location name and Location Code keys to match the format found on Accuweather.com for your City.
Press OK and save changes.
Backup your Registry first just incase.
DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISK
is it possible to "REPROGRAM" the "weather icon" on the htc today screen ??? i would like to launch another program instead...thank you
format
<city name="Tampa, US" locationcode="NAM|US|FL|TAMPA|33601"/>
best i can tell the above is the correct syntax for getting cities in the list but aside from the above city and a couple of MAJOR cities i cannot get this to work on any smaller cities or towns. anyone come up with anything else?
It wont work for me either :0( - after the change it wont download?
If it's possible, anyone could do a tutorial for the weather change screen ?
Sorry for my bad english....
Many thanks.
Works a treat, thanks
Well, it works like a charm for me. Happy to see that you can actually change the city name too (mine is now Amersfoort, without the NL).

If this is true, HTC deserve one serious slap around their wrists...
I'm unable to change my weather city to Holiday, FL 34691 myself...tried a couple different variations, but it's just not holding.
So, I'm wondering...there are a FEW bigger US cities not included in this AccuWeather plugin app that HTC is using - when the phones are officialy released in N. America in the (hopefully) near future, will these cities be added as supported options? I mean, no Denver? Tampa?...but St. Petersburg...!?!?

oh, I didn't try adding Denver, I was just looking at the included list of cities.
Could someone point me in the right direction for changing the weather - i cannot find the file on my touch to change the details. I followed the lead posted earlier but can't for the life of me find the appropraite file to change.
Changing Weather city
Hi all
Quite simple to change the defined weather cities. Just download a registry editor like Mobile Registry Editor (http://www.breaksoft.com/Download/MRE/MobileRegistryEditor.zip) which allows you to edit the registry from your PC using ActiveSync. Then go to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\HTCHome\Weather\Settings
And change the Keys Location and LoctionCode to the new city. To know the city code find it on http://www.accuweather.com/.
Cheers
you could always move to a city that is listed, this would resolve the problem....
Hi Everybody;
Does Anyone can tell me what is the code for the city Namur in Belgium ?
I searched on accuweather.com, the city is listed but I dont know where to go to retrieve this code...

Rhodium Manila Weather Edit?

I've tried a couple of weather database editors but they all just crash the new version of Manila, is anyone working on an editor that works for this version, or does someone know of one that does work that I missed ?
Much appreciation for any help or suggestions.
PS: I realize it's not "out" yet, but I'm trying out a ROM with it cooked in (EnergyROM 2.0 031109).

This is from Slawcop, all credit goes to him.
I tried this method, and it added the city to the DB but it would not update the weather for it. I verified my Accuweather code was correct as well.
For weather with this ROM....I have not found a weather database that works. The ones out there are causing the touchflo to continually restart and a HR is needed...I have installed my custom town on everyone of the Energy Rom's by following these instructions. I know it works....I have personally done it for some of my friends and there cities...
Go into settings and disable touflo3d.
Browse to the 2330fc3c_manila file in windows. Once you find it place a copy of it on your desk top. Then right click on the manila, click properties and turn off read only.
You then need to download sql-Editor http://sqliteadmin.orbmu2k.de/
Open the file and run the exe.
Click on databases, open, then go to your desktop where you saved the manila, find it and load it (you might have to click all files on file type to find it).
Once it loads you will see it loaded and a tree menu in the left column. You should notice Cities is expandable, so click the + sign and you see ID and under it you see city name click on it.
Once you click on it then over to the right you should see three tabs SQL Query/Result/ and Edit Data. You want Edit Data click it. If you dont see the chart of cities, states and countries then double click again on city name.
Now the easiest way I did it was find a city in my state or close to the same as mine and edit the information. For instance in number 1823 I inserted my city by editing it. You have to edit the cityname, state, Country, and then under accuweather code you have to make sure they all match EXACTY...capital letters...spaces etc...Also make sure the timezone matches your area. That is why it is important to find a large town close to the town you are trying to add and use the correct information.
You double click on city and a edit memo will appear with the city name edit it exactly. then move onto the next one and so on.
Once you have edited all categories that need it, which if you did like I said would only be the city name in lower case, and city name in upper case.
Once done close SQlite.
Go back to the manila on the desk top right click on check it back to read only.
Now using total commander or other registry editor install the manila file back to the windows folder. Then return back to setting and reactivate touchflo3 and your done. Go into the city and add your city...should be it...

Hi,
use 2330fc3c_manila from Rhodium-Thread Post #4 .. .this will work
It does not work for me too. It says "No weather data available". Whereas with the same accuweather code I was having no problem with Diamond weather. Where can I be wrong?
EDIT:
It worked after I added the registry
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\Manila]
"Weather.ServerURLOverride"="http://weather.not2advanced.com/htcweather/forecastdata.php?ac=XDADevs&locCode=%25ls&version= 1&device=innovation"
Search for Weather Master. That is now fixed som it also works with rhodium!!
Thanks a lot, works for me on ROMeOS with Rhodium

Editing the Weather XML

So I found the weather database in \Windows\ and was trying to edit it to add my city but it seems that it's stored on the ROM part and I can't seem to rename it so I can put my new edited copy in. Could anyone advise me on how to do this? Or is there a new version of the Weather Database Editor that was used for other HTC's? Thanks :]
Use Totalcommander and uncheck the attributes, then replace en recheck the attributes
What are the files that can be edited?
Total Commander couldn't seem to do either but I found an entry in the registry that I could change instead. Unfortunately it's still the "loccode" so it still doesn't have a city near me. I would love a weather panel alternative that is exactly like the htc one but would support zip codes. I tried chome weather but it was so buggy for getting it to show up on the home screen.
As for the files I was trying to edit, they were xml files in \Windows\ and began with HH. I don't have my phone with me at the moment so I can't get the full name.

Just change the city information there with what you want. After you save the edits go back to your Weather Panel and it will say its updating.. Mine error on the first attempt (said it could not download data) but I tried it again and it worked. The city MUST be in the online database or it wont work at all, my first city attempt would not update, my second choice did. I wanted Millersville, PA but its not listed.. but Lancaster, Pa was listed online (the 'more online link' in the Weather application.

The list of available cities is very small. http://www.accuweather.com/world-city-list.asp In the registry, there is also a city name that you can enter the new name for it as well. Just make sure you only make regeddits because thats all these are. the moment you go back into the program and pick a city, your changes get reverted. As for the cityindex, i think thats just the local index in the database of cities.

I found it on Accuweather, its NAM|US|AZ|KINGMAN "Kingman, AZ, US" the only problem is it reports as the last local city thats on the phones DB.
ie if it was on Las Vegas it says "Kingman" but reports the weather for Las Vegas... I have a feeling your correct with the CityIndex being a local lookup, but i feel that that Index is where it holds the records to download the info from Accuweather.com
Where can we find this Index?
Edit:
Wait, i went to the Accuweather site from the Weather App on the phone and it reports the same temps/etc, but on my desktop its completely different... Dont know which to trust (10 degree difference)
I am trying to find a better way to get this done. I wrote a mortscript that lets you input the info (city, location codes) and writes it to the registry and it seems to work so far... the only issue I am having it upon reboot it reverts back to the old information that was selected via the weather program?? not sure why as the reg edits shouldnt change. I will post a working script once I figure this out.
And just an update, when editing the Registry you need to also change the CityIndex line, the cityindex can be found on accuweather.com, it is the string of numbers right after the city codes:
/us/pa/harrisburg/17101 <----
it is not always the zip code. My location lanc is zip code 17603 but the cityindex code is 17454 or 17573 (17573 worked for me)
You will know thats it is working if you then select More Online and the accuweather page loads in PIE with your city
@ Bupahs
I had that too, reverting back and then it can't download for my location
I live in the Netherlands and i can't see the cityindex numbers, this is my link in accuweather:

the Weather Station in Heerhugowaard says the code is 2207 (its the same for Heerhugowaard, Oterleek, Veenhuizen)
Got it!!
That elusive CityIndex is none other than the +4 on your zip code. Lancaster, Pa is 17603-1599 the 1599 is the CityIndex. For example Harrisburg, Pa is listed in the HTC Weather applications list and when I go into the registry the CityIndex is 3265: the State Capitol is
State Capitol
Room 129, Main Capitol Building
Harrisburg, PA 17120-3265
So far successive reboots have not reverted back to old settings, and updates come through perfectly fine. So now all I need to do is edit my Mortscript to use the plus four zip and it should hold as well. But for now, find your +4 in your Zip and try the edits:
HKLM\\Software\HTC\HTCHome\Weather\Settings\Location
HKLM\\Software\HTC\HTCHome\Weather\Settings\LocationCode
HKLM\\Software\HTC\HTCHome\Weather\Settings\CityIndex
I used your method and i does still work after reboots, but where it says "last tupdated" always remains the same, and if i manually update all it does is update the time it says "last updated" ( so by example it is static at 22 minutes ago, then i update and it turns into 45mins ago..)
It also doesnt seem to auto update.
I ended up downloading NRG Weather 3.0, NRG Mini Weather, and Mini Weather 1.4.
Im using NRG Mini Weather atm. HTC Default Sliding panel is kinda dodgy with non-default locations.
Actually, the CityIndex is index # or (row #, start from 0) of your city name in the "HH_0409_WeatherCities.txt" file. You can test this by moving the index of your city to the top of the list which will give your city a 0 for CityIndex value.

North America Weather Database V2 Manila (8-25-09)

Here is a weather database that contains every USA city, some Canada, and some Mexico. Plus it has every Stock HTC City. Every city has correct Timezone info has well. overall this has over 33,000 cities in there.
I have also routed everything through my site, and updated N2A script a little, converted everything to Fahrenheit to make it more accurate, and a few other smaller changes.
This will also have your correct timezone info for your state and everything else, it works great, and does not have the timezone bug, that has been on some users.
It will work on all V2.x manila files, on all resolution,
Right now picking world clock is a pain, I plan to expand that and make it easier, I just want to get this out there and get a feel for how its working.
Second issue is it can be slow to load at times, that is because its so many cities, this will be fixed in future has well.
Download here
Instructions
Install cab, restart device, enjoy your weather

SSSWWWWEEEETTTTT!!!! Thanks for this.
any chance there is a patched exe for manila2D MEGA?
I can try and convert everything to XML if that would help, and post that file in here,
file right now is done in SQLlite, so wont work, i have databases though, that I can convert to xml for you.
that would be great..
however, I stil dont know how to weather path the manila exe. I tried reading it in hex last night and it made my eyes loose focus.
I will try again tonight and see if I can make it work.
here is the XML of that data. should help you some.
where does this file go?
cointelbro
put the file in windows folder and soft reset, yuo need also a patched exe!!! but I've not find it yet...
@ conflipper
I've italian database from my diamond, can yuo help me to port it for new manila?
thanks!
if you want to post the diamond file, in here i can get it posted, I will have to look up time zone info and add all that in there. but post the files you have and I will get them going, saves me time of looking everything up.
if anyone has other countries has well, let me know and i can get those going has well.
Thanks a lot! You are very kind!
This is the file of diamond, there is a big mistake of grammar, Abbruzzo is wrong, abruzzo is right
Timezone Italy -60
can this be done on the old m2d as well or just v2
It is actually missing some of the stock cities from the standard ROM. My city, Lakewood, Colorado (80226, suburb of Denver) was in the stock VZW ROM, but is not in here. Not surprising, as Lakewood is missing from METAR and other weather sources too. Bummer for me, but I'll live.
Need help please!!
The times for the cities are inconsistant.
I am in Milwaukee Wisconsin GMT-6 Central.
If I add Milwaukee, the time is ahead 1 hour. However, if I add Manitowoc for example, (same state, timezone, etc) the correct time is displayed.
If I go to change the local time for Milwaukee to the correct time, it changes me to GMT-5 Eastern, and when I reset, the time is now behind 1 hour.
Anyone else seeing anything like this?
Missing City?
I tried to add my own city, but it was missing. I live around 100 miles from Washington, DC (stock HTC city), but it was missing as well.
In reading the assorted entries related to editing the weather database, I get the impression that while accuweather US might have my city, this database is limited to cities in accuweather international. Is there some method by which I could input my zip code and find the nearest city that does appear in this database? Right now I'd be happy with a method to display a text listing of all the cities in Maryland.
Would someone please post a location/instructions where I can download the original (HTC stock) database?
Thanks.

You can use a zipcode for the accuweather code if it is a U.S. city.
You should update your signature to include information such as hardware and rom and update your profile so that it is easier to say your carrier and region. In another thread, I say you are using the Energy Rom, but for which device?
In any case, if you want to add the city, you will need the program that I wrote. All Energy ROMs that use that build number are Manila 2.1 or higher. My program now also supports latest versions of Sense 2.1 and Sense 2.5.

[Q] Weather - my town not in list, how to add it there?

Hey, I would like to add my town to the list - town called Pardubice, Czech republic. I don´t want to use it only from function "my location via wifi hot spot or gsm". I would like to know how weather is there even if I am not there and without permanent internet connection..
Could somebody help me to fix this problem? Thanks for answers
Forgive me if this is an obvious reply, but have you tried going to the weather tab? And adding it by choosing the option "add location??" when you do this it becomes a fixed location on your phone. If your city is not available in the list, you could try to find something in the near vicinity of your town. On older roms, the great program of Andreas Falke weather database editor could add some new city's but with the new programmes, I don't know of any new editors that could do this.
goodluck there

You need Weather City Editor App. from JVH3. This allows you to add custom towns/locations to the HTC list. I found the App. on this site, and followed the instructions in the thread so it can't be difficult...
The App. is made for larger devices than the Mini so some of the dialogs are a bit tricky to hit, but this App. worked. Other ones I tried didn't. Plus, once you've done it, you don't need to do it again. Unless you upgrade the ROM of course.

Thank u a lot, working great!!!
