activesync with google exchange service - Touch HD General

I always uses google services. Including google calendar / email, etc.
I have set up my wm6.5 with activesync and it sync my email and calendar fine.
However, I found that the activesync will sometimes hog up my mobile's CPU for more than half and hours. I felt the phone unresponsive and heat up fast. I can hardly switch on the task manager but I managed to find the responsible program for this - activesync. It uses up all available CPU for a long long long time. Some times it drains all the battery and my phone just shut down itself. During the time, I will not able to start the activesync client and soft reset is the only solution.
I used to have activesync's schedule set to "As it arrives" but I turn it to like by "2 hours" now. Thing is now better but it still happens.
I can live with high cpu loading while it was checking mail or sync with calendar but I certainly not convinced that it required more than 10 minutes for that.
Please share your experience.

I have tried Google Sync two times. After a couple of syncs that worked OK an error appeared, something like a configuration change in the server, sync error. Then when I synced, all my calendar items were duplicated and all my contacts reversed First Name with Last Name. And the phone was set to overwrite the server if something is wrong/error. Thank to the backup.

Okay.. gotta to change the information. It is NOT related to google service. it is solely the problem of activesync. I have reset my phone and not setting up any sync services. But the activesync kicks in again and once again used up all CPU time. Even with no internet connection. (Radio Off)
This is a ****......... I hate it.

Hmmm... I've never had a problem using Activesync+Google with Laurentius's Rom.
I sync Google Calender with Activesync, contacts with Microsoft MyPhone, and email with my own Pop3 provider (Fastmail).
Good luck

Calendar does not sync with Exchange server 2003

I do not understand this anymore. I have set up my exchange server (2003 small business server R2) and use my PDA's to sync. Pushmail works perfectly, contacts and tasks synchronize perfectly. Only calendar does not sync at all (even though I have ticked the right box to do so).
I have no idea why. Help would be hugely appreciated
I have just started having the same problem. Only syncing calendar items from my device to the exchange server is where I am having problems. I first noticed it when my fully charged battery would die within about an hour and a half when I normally get about two days use out of a charge. Come to find out, ActiveSync on my phone had been constantly attempting and re-attempting to synchronize the new events I had created on my device, with no success at uploading them to the server. All other items (mail, contacts, tasks) work seamlessly, and all items sync from desktop to device without any problems. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Not sure if anyone is still having this issue, but the fix for Calendar items created on device not syncing up to Exchange (but sync no problem from Exchange to device), do the following:
1. Go to Start/Settings/Clock & Alarm
2. Change your Time Zone to another zone, and OK.
3. Go into ActiveSync on device, and sync with exchange
4. Go back to Clock & Alarm and change your time zone back to appropriate time zone
5. sync with ActiveSync again.
Problem should be resolved. Has worked for me many of times.
Thanks!

Trinity all of a sudden not receiving push

Anyone ever seen this issue?
My Trinity isn't actively receiving push e-mail. It has up until now. I know it's now my server because when I use the Treo push works fine. However, with the Trinity Active Sync isn't syncing in the background.
As soon as I open Active Sync it begins to sync automatically and I receive my mail. Other wise I get nothing.
I haven't changed any settings recently. Active Sync is still allowed to run in the background etc.
(assuming you have't done so) have you soft resetted the device and then tried to sync? also, i had to remove the sync relationship and re-establish the relationship. that resolved my problem in the past.
I have tried soft resetting several times.
If I delete the exchange settings from my device and then re-add them will I end up with doubles of contacts/calendar when the first sync occurs?
You need to go into active directory and restart and stop the mobile services in the exchange general tab. I have noticed that the push mail settings do sometimes hang.

gmail is pulling down stuff in my spam folders

I configured the WM6 email application to pull my gmail, however it's not pulling just the stuff from my gmail inbox, but also stuff that's been moved to my deleted/spam folder via filters i've created.
what i'd like to do is
- just pull stuff from my inbox
- only keep 1 or 2 days worth of gmail messages on my phone
Is this possible? I tried the java gmail client but it was awful.
Try emoze for gmail.

Well, I installed emoze but have no idea how to use it. I went to download the user manual from emoze.com but it says it's not available because it's being updated.
I'm using the gmail gateway, no PC involved at all, I ran emoze and entered my username, password and configured the various options, after that it said something about synching, reached 100% and now nothing.
It just shows my username, a greyed out send box, a sign out box, log, settings and accounts button as well as an OK in the upper right. I have no idea how to get or send email via gmail with this app.
Sheesh, the MS application actually pulls down email from my outbox when i send it from my PC. Nice.
I also registered for the emoze forums but need to wait for someone to approve my application.
ok, i think i see, looks like it created a mail account in messages by itself. however i didnt really get a chance to look because my battery is almost dead. apparently i'm going to have to tweak how often messages are pulled. my battery is fine all day with every 10 minutes for exchange, but adding emoze drained it in a few hours.

If you click on the Accounts button and then Open Account (there should already be one account installed there already by now), you can select "push every 30 minutes" for instance. When it's not pushing, emoze goes into "sleep" mode. So battery drain should not be much of an issue. Incidentally, you may STILL select "Always On". Your mileage may vary i suppose...
And you can select your own range of Active Hours. Mine is only on manual i.e. only turned on when I'm on the move. Otherwise, I have my gmail account (the one that's tagged to emoze) to automatically forward email to any of of my OTHER gmail or POP accounts (the ones I use on my desktop at the office daily)
Not as ideal as "always on" blackberry email, but I stopped paying for my blackberry account coz, long term, it just ain't worth it for me. (I was using my Blackberry account on my Dopod 838Pro)
One man's meat... (and all that).
Does Gmail calendar sync work? I keep selecting that checkbox, but when I go back to that screen it's unchecked and no calendar events are being pulled down.

I assume the calendar sync on Emoze is supposed to work with Google Calendar (?).
In any case, I don't use it since I only sync the onboard organizer items (Calendar, Tasks, Notes, Contacts) with my Outlook PST file at home or office via Activesync/PocketInformant .

Problem Syncing Contacts

Hello,
Recieved my HD yesterday and am still setting it up, sync center works fine so long as I dont have "Contacts, Calender, Email or Tasks" ticked.
If they are ticked the sync process never finishes but the progress bar will cycle endlessly.
I have Outlook 2007 installed but have never really used it before so I could be missing something, afaik my email accounts have been configured correctly and Outlook appears to be working correctly.
Anyone have any insight into this problem?
TIA
Dave

Can you sync with your Exchange server over the air (using data connection)? I know I have never been able to sync with our OWA (Outlook Web Access) address when plugged in to USB but I can over the air just fine. Same thing where it cycles endlessly. I can with other Exchange servers just not where I am currently syncing with. It has something to do with their network settings here where I work.
I'm trying to sync with my home PC, I have no exchange server.
To be honest I'm a bit lost with outlook, never really used it before - I have always used Outlook Express for email.
how long do you wait before giving up? first time synch usually takes a while, could go up to an hour or so.
I've waited up to 30 mins with no advance on the "windows mobile device center" progress bar "sync center" is cycling the progress bar as if it is initiallising.
Have tried wiping out my phones contact list and syncing one contact with same result - just uninstalled Office and reinstalled outlook from supplied HTC CD with same result.
had that problem also.
had to uninstall the wm device center (had it twice, so i uninstalled both) then reinstalled the latest version (drvupdate-amd64.exe in my case).
now everything works just fine.
Just tried that twice and unfortunatly is seems to have not worked - Thanks for the help here guys, anyone else got anu nuggets of info that could help me?
Seems to be sorted now - Pretty sure it is an AVG firewall issue, "allow all" lets me sync.
Thanks for the suggestions guys.
Well I'm still completly lost - AVG firewall is definatly the problem here but I cant figure out how to fix it perminantly.
I'm used to setting rules in firewalls to allow certain programs but cant for the life of me find out what specific .exe or service is required to be enabled for outlook contacts, emails or notes to sync.
My temp fix involves setting AVG firewall to "allow All" - the phone will sync instantly but set to my default profile only files, favorites etc .... will sync
Anyone had this problem or know how to fix it?
Managed to track it down
AVG 8.5 Tools>Firewall Settings>'Profile'>System Services>Windows RPC Service - Set to 'Allow For Safe' for those with the same problem.
Thanks once again for peoples input.

Help with sync setup

Hello all, I would really appreciate some guidance on how to properly setup my syncing.
Today I sync my Hero (3G stock) with Outlook 2007 on my Win XP home computer with HTC sync, and also with my Exchange account at work (HTC sync -> Outlook on Mac via VMware). And of course the phone in its turn synchronizes with the Google cloud. And as an extra bonus I'm running Google Calendar Sync at the home computer. This goes for calendar and contacts, the mails I don't sync at all.
This results in having:
1. Multiple entries of every item, i.e on the phone I have one contact entry called "phone" and one duplicate called "Google" for every contact I have. Same for the calendar.
2. By syncing with 2 different computers I always gets some conflicts when doing the synchronization and I usually have to run every sync 2-3 times before it's complete.
Sorry for being unclear, would like to sort this out. How have you set it up? I thought about skipping the HTC sync at work and running only Google Calendar Sync, but it turns out my company's firewall is blocking this.
Well, no response here, but for further reference I can write down that I have solved it so far by deleting all "Phone" items on the Hero and to sync the calendar with Google Calendar Sync, and for the contacts I use a service called Soocial (www.soocial.com) which seems pretty nice.
