Voice Dialing Application for HD2 - Available? - HD2 General

Correct me if I am wrong, but there is no built in voice dialing capability tools included with the HD2?
I would like to be able to (like I have with the last 2 HTC Smartphones) be able to voice dial a contact over a bluetooth headset or car unit....
Any recommendations, or is this feature hidden somewhere that I simply have to activate? If there is an app I can get, preferrably free, please advise. Thanks!

Microsoft Voice Command is probably the best out there... its almost uncanny how you can just talk to your phone and ask it stuff with no training.... Call blah blah blah.... what are my apointments? .... open file explorer.... etc etc etc....
I use it with a bluetooth headset all the time to make and receive calls all the time.... calls received will have the caller's name read to me via BT headset

Thanks, so nothing is included with the HD2 then correct? Is there a free version we can get for our HD2 here or elsewhere of Voice Command?

And that's on an HD2?

MSVC is pretty much the best out there...the other alternative is the Cyberon Speed Dial, but you do have to record for each contact.

Which MSVC version are you using?
I've been having strange problems with my Blueant Supertooth light and MSVC 1.6.
The problems are:
- My Blueant doesn't terminate the connection after calls, the lights and speaker just stays on eventhough the call has been terminated.
- No incoming call announcement from the blueant device.
- Sometimes when I press the call button on my BT device, voice commander responds on the phone's speaker??
Weird... I didn't have the above problems with my TD, although I never could get the incoming call announcement to work as well.

on the same lines, is there any application to type what you speak? This way we could use speech to text instead of using the keyboard!

It is a huge letdown that the HD2 does not already INCLUDE a voice dialing application like the past several HTC phones have had, for years.
HTC needs to step up the plate and both provide this and make sure that bluetooth voice dialing protocols are in place.
Has anyone used the Cyberon app yet? I believe the one is called "Voice Dialer" and the other is called "Voice Commander", not sure what the actual difference is or if either work fully on the HD2.

Hi. I'm using Cyberon Voice Sped Dialer on my HD2 and have set up my voice dals.
However, when I go to use the voice dial I only every get the 'tone' through the phone speaker and no longer through my BT headset. I have a Jawbone 2 BT headset.
My Touch HD worked fine with it and you could dial using voice through the headset but I no longer can on the HD2.
Is there a way to fix this? Do I need different software or is it just one of those things?
Thanks.
Owen.

Hi,
Im having the same problems with my HD2 device. I have a parrot bluetooth carkit and with this new device it doens't work like it should because there is no voice dialing.
I've tried several programs like Microsoft Voice command and other voice command programs like VITO voice command and Cyberon.
Is there any program that just looks like the voice dialing on the HTC Diamond? I just want to record my own voice and use it with my bluetooth carkit.
Thanks,

The problems with bluetooth is down to the HD2 using a widcomm bluetooth stack as apposed to a microsoft one. I personally havent found a voice dialing app that will work with the widcomm stack.

So what do we do now? I really love this phone but this is a huge problem for me...

Good question.... experiment!? E-mail voice recognition manufactures?

I have cyberon voice speed dial 1.2
I cant get it to work through my BT but I have sort cut on home that I press and it opens all my progs and dial contacts, one of the best things about my phone now I love that it opens all my programs...
I used to have a n95 and this put an auto voice tag on each contact and worked through any BT, shame the HD2 hasnt got an app that can do that ... and open my progs..

I'm also still waiting for a solution.
I have 2 bt handsfree devices on my 2 cars (Parrot and Blueant)...and MSVC only works for the first try after a soft reset.
After the first go, MSVC just goes thru the phone's mic and speaker. Very annoying when you still need to hold the phone up while driving AND you have a bluetooth handsfree device.

Is it possible for someone to cook a ROM with the MSFT bluetooth stack? Or is that too hardware/driver dependent?

You guys should check out the threat with the name: Voice Dial Removed! WTF?
Since I cannot post links yet I can't post the exact link but I'm sure you guys are able to use the search function on this website
Someone claims to have found a working solution for the problem, it's on the second page of the thread.. I'm going to test it right now
Edit: IT WORKS!! At first holding the call button didn't work for me, so I followed the instructions on the first page and now it works!!

About to try it, hope it works with BT voice dial, if not then Duttys WM6.5 works as well as it can and includes the long press fix as standard.
Owen.

To install .CAB according to order of their numbering.
Do not forget to put a tick in Audio-adjustments sets (' To reproduce system sounds on removed set ').
I did not check it by myself yet.
I tried to make ONE .CAB but did not find apropriate software.
Let's try this way.

I have succeeded to activate the CVSD with BT Headset button press with the "4_CVSD_1.2_build_61226_1_BTHeadsetFixed.cab" given in the mail above.
But I can not hear the Voice Tag of the contact from the BT Headset but from the speaker of the HD2 as a confirmation to my speed dial speech.
And I have to check the screen when dialing started if I am motocycling
Any proposal to fix that little problem?

Voice recognition with Qtek 2020: possible or not ???

Can anyone tell me the truth ??? Is it possible or not ?
My previous GSM was a Motorola Timeport. When I had to telephone someone, I just spoke the name of that person, and my Motorola dialled the correct number.
For example I said "Parents", and the phone number of my parents was automatically dialled.
Can I do such thing with my BT headset Sony/ericsson HBH-35 and my Qtek 2020 ???
Some people say it is totaly impossibble ???
I cann´t tell you, if that would work, but i know, that you can use voice dial via some extra software. It works well.
What i don´t know, if you can use your BT for Voice recognition....
Stefan
Aha, thanks Stefan. ( we have almost the same flag - lol ! )
So voice-recognition would work, but only with the microphone of the Qtek itself, pobably not with bluetooth....
So I guess I have to use speed dial in the car...
yes, it´s possible with microsoft voice comand, try it¡¡ it´s very easy to install and very funny.

I assume you mean that voice-dialing is possible, NOT voice-dialing through a BT headset. Right?
From all of the information I have gathered, voice-dialing through a BT headset is just not possible at this time. If you have gotten it to work, I'll bet there are thousands who would like to know how you did it!
yeah i believe that there is some bluetooth profile required
there are some threads about it somewhere in hacking it forum

I have searched and can find nothing that indicates that voice-dialing through BT works yet. There is a great deal of discussion, but no solution (that I can find). I believe that a BT HandsFree profile is required, but not included with the Himalaya BT implementation.
We can certainly hope that one is included in WM2003 SE, should that actually make it to this platform.
some people were talking about if it was possible to use the ipaq bluetooth stack on a xda2 if that works
I'm using Voice Dial sinse 3 month and it works grate. Even in the car I can ask any contact of my data base ( +/-1000) name of contact + mobile or at home etc... The program ask you for confirmation by reading once more the contact name and asks if this is correct.
If you say "yes" it compose the request phone number.
I'm using HBH 65 BT headset for phone and the intergreted micro from Qtek for voice recognition.
Try it for free at : http://www.fonix.com/page.cfm?name=product_fonix_voicedial&ID=14
I have the french version
So Kiyeko -
Are you saying that you can press the button on your BT headset, say a name from your contacts list into the microphone on the headset and the i-mate/XDA II/MDA II/QTEK 2020 will dial the number? If so, I would be interested to know what software recognizes the headset button-press as the initiator of the voice-dialing software.
I have tried Pocket BT Tools with Fonix Voice Dial and was never able to get it to recognize the headset button press as the initiator of the program. Oh, by the way - I tried it with the MS program as well.
Returning to the initial question posted by mvb95.
Yes, with your hardware (Qtek 2020 and HBH35) is possible to use voice recognition to put the calls.
You must install Vito Voice Dialer PE v3.0. Eventually assign a hardware button to the voice dialer. Record all the tag voices you want.
With both devices paired and turned on (HBH35 blinking green), press the hardware button assigned to Vito and say the tag (e.g.: “John”) to the headset. You don’t need to use the Qtek speaker, don’t need to press the HBH35 button, nor confirm the recognition with “yes”, like in the Fonix.
Is simple and ease.

Are you SURE it is using the headset microphone to input the name? I have downloaded and installed the program, then set a hardware button and recorded some voice tags.
When I press the hardware button, it does not activate my HBH-30 to input the tag, it records it with the device's microphone.
Are you using Pocket BlueTooth tools?
Hi Brian:
I use it always in my car.
My hardware: Qtek 2020 (Rom: 1.72.00WWE, Radio version: 1.14.00) and headset SE HBH-35.
I have tried several times covering the microphone hole with my finger and, by other side, speak to the headset 2 or 3 meters away from the Qtek.
With Vito you don’t need to say “Call John” but only “John”.
I don’t use the Pocket Bluetooth Tools because the latest Rom has the Bluetooth headset profile improved and this software doesn’t work with my car kit handsfree Nokia.
I can’t put my hands on fire, but the only thing I’m sure is that I can talk normally with the Vito Voice Dialer and the headset in my car.

HELP PLEASE...Your supplied handfree working? Mine is NOT.

Hello all
Can you tell me is your supplied handfree working?
I just installed some mp3's onto a new SD card, while I had the headphones on I thought I would try handsfree, it does not work.
The silver button you press to activate voice dial or answer calls does nothing, and I cannot speak into the microphone, I can only hear calls.
I have voice tabbed my contacts, voice dialing works great on the phone but not the headset. Inside the phone, the phone menu has 'Turn Hands-free On', this is greyed out. Has this feature been removed from the phone?
The phone is Orange SPV M600
Thanks
i find the button on the headset useless. 9 times out of ten it does nothing, then suddently it will end a call or open the voice prompt. I gave up and put it down to a windowsism.
Well, mine can only answer calls, it will not start voice dial and will not open the phone app. No problems with sound or mic.
I use Motorola H350 anyway so it doesn't really bother me.
Thanks
From a lot of Googling I have found nothing official even mentioning the use of the handsfree they advertise and supply. However, it would appear that this phone is only capable of answering and closing calls with handsfree, so not truly handsfree.
You still have to take out your nice new, expensive toy in order to make a call, clearly advertising it to potential muggers. Where I live that is just about everyone you see.
Does seem strange though that cheap old Nokias can do this, but a nice new computerised phone can not. Then again it is Microsoft. I have only had it a week, but already I have found that WM5 is not very backward compatible with software. There are issues with bluetooth headsets (which is why I cancelled an order), and in a week just like old ME, I have lost count of the number Soft Resets that I have had to perform.
I find the most useless feature is the voice dial, you have to open, start, programs, voicedial to make a call or use it. Why not just run the app manually rather than trust voicedial to guess what your after.
Sorry guys but I am not sure what the fuss is about.
I had my phone for a month before getting the BT headset (no problems there by the way) so I assigned the voice speed dial to the comm manager button. Easy and useful and you have the comm manager icon in the today tray so the button is not a major loss.
Now that I have the H350 which is more comfortable than the wired hands-free any way, everything works smoothly but this is with the i-mate ROM. Perhaps your BT troubles are from the Orange ROM?
voice speed used to work.....
I have an H500 headset which used to work splendidly on my Orange M600. The silver button would launch voice dialling and pick up and end calls.
however I upgraded to the Dopod ROm and now it does bugger all! I can hear the calls, but the headset will not launch voice dialling, and all options are greyed out.
Question is, is this feature in the main ROm or the extended part....I have acopy of the Orane extended ROm but can't see anything that looks like the right cab file.
I did not let Dopod customisations run after upgrading, and I really don't want to do a hard reset again!
If anyone knows which file you need to install voice speed dialling I'd be grateful!

The wired headset does not work fully, it can only be used to answer or close calls, it will not initiate voice dialing. I bought a cheap bluetooth headset off of ebay, it paired straight away and initiates voice dialing. I have never been able to get my headet to work, I now just plug it in if I want to play music.
I am not sure about Dopod and Orange ROMs, but in i-mate ROM the speed dial app it self (cyberon voice speed dial) is in the extended ROM while it's settings applet is in ROM.
As for the part that is responsible for answering / ending calls that should be in ROM with any version.
the H500 IS a bluetooth headset- it's a Motorola and wasn't cheap!
It used to work as I say, then I went to the Dopod ROM and now there is no voice speed dialing at all.
I can't seem to find the cyberon cab files anywhere....

Sorry I read too quickly, I originally started this post before I got bluetooth as I could not get the wired set to work.
Hi
From what I had read in the past when I was having problems with my headset, Cyberon's Voice Speed Dial software is embedded in the OS it does not come as a cutomisation. I have just brought mine up and it simply says Cyberon Voice Speed Dial Setting Version 1.1 Build 51212. Copyright (c) 2005 Cyberon Corporation. There is nothing there related to Orange, and I can not find it in any of the Orange Extended ROM CABS.
I guess Microsoft did a deal with them to install it in the Phone Edition of WM5.

Parrot carkit mute problem

Dear all,
I have a Parrot CK3100 carkit and I am running Bepe's 0.61 WWE and Radio 1.58.25.14.
BT pairing and sync is (more os less) seamless but I found that when I initiate the call with the phone's green button the call goes through the phone's loudspeaker. When I initiate the call with either by clicking on the contact's picture or action button on the name or voice dialing by Parrot everything works fine.
I know that I can turn the Parrot carkit's loudspeaker on by clicking menu->"turn headset on" but it is so dangerous to chek it and activate it while driving.
Is this the expected behaviour? Is this a Radio stack related problem? Anything I could do about making the external speakers work all the time the headset profile is activated? Anyway, it used to work as I expected with the original ROM.
Thanks, Z

Yes, instead of pushing green button on phone use the call button on Parrot and everything works fine.
Sascha
You mean I've got to search for the contact on the phone or on the Parrot? Because I prefer the phone's T9 dialer. Would it work if I chose the contact on the phone and pressed the green button on Parrot? Will play with that tomorrow.
And once we're talking about Parrots...
I have 1015 contacts to sync. BT sync is okay (I use "Windows CE" when pairing), but quite a few of my numbers do not go to the carkit. (I don't have to tell there are my mom, sister, kids etc. All my customers are on the carkit.) Can I do anything about that? I can send them one by one, but OBEX is not working according to my experiences. It says it was okay, but I cannot find the contact afterwards.
Any idea is highly appreciated. Thanks
Get MS Voice Command, and never browse your phone book again. Trust me its a well worthwhile investment, I can't think of a single person that bought it and regretted it.
Look at this, perhaps it can help.

Doesn't work for me since my car apparently is too noisy (at least while running).
Sascha
As far as the noise is concerned, the trick is that you have to record the names while driving so that noise would be on the records as well. Fortunately, I have a Civic and that makes perfect background noise for this operation
Anyway, I have VC enabled but I am using only to narrate my upcoming appointments while headset profile is on and the calendar is free. Do not use that for dialing or navigating the shell.

Since when do you have to record names in order to use MS voice command?
It's a speech recognition software which is user independant.
Sascha
Hi, as I said, I do not use VC for dialing. I use Parrot for that and I am basically very satisfied with that. The only problem is that, for some peculiar reason, not all my contacts gets sync-ed there.

Is using MS voice command through BT hands free possible?

I've done some searches and not found anybody who manages to use MS voice command through a hands free headset.
I've just bought a parrot bluetooth hands free for my car. I'd hoped to be able to use MS voice command for voice dialing. I get the actual phone call through the hands free, but the voice prompts for VC come through the phone and the mic on the phone is used for voice recognition.
I've read people hacking about to get all audio through the hands free, but the hack I've seen disables VC.
Does anyone know if it's possible? Or is there any other software that can be used for voice dialing through the hands free. I'm guessing not if it's htc bad implementation of the bluetooth stack.
Cheers
it is definitely possible - if with BT handsfree you mean bluetooth headsets. With my Jabra BT620s i could use MS voice commander 1.6 and give instructions....it ALMOST works, in the sense that it technically does the job but, at the end, i didn't like it: too sensitive to noise and to....my english....

I have the same problem - has anyone found a fix?
Incoming calls are fine, also connections that are made after the initial user-to-phone command.
I also have a diamond and this operates just fine ie the MSVC prompt comes through the bluetooth OK.
Thanks
PS yes, I have tried changing HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Bluetooth\AudioGateway

Please describe in more detail what you did. In the Windows folder there is no such file as sddialer.exe.
Ups my mistake, this entry is for Microsoft Voice Command software.
For Cyberon i don't know, but about this soft: it will be perfect if this soft could also announce incoming calls.
I want to "revive" this old Thread, because i have the same problem. Maybe there is an resolution out there...?
Of course there is a little Workarround: When you start the Cyberon Voice Command-Software on your Touch and then directly press the Button on your BT-Headset the Voice-Command over the Headset works.....
HandsFree is not VoiceDial
Same problem and very unlucky for this, want to use Mega with bluetooth headset and voice dial.
Tried VoiceCommander, VoiceCommand and SpeedDial, all work but do not dial with pushing Bluetooth headset button.
Changed a lot of registry paths comparing Mega registry with my old HTC Herald (which support this feature) but nothing helps.
Asked HTC Customer Helpdesk and got the following answer: Mega support HandsFreeProfile which means car and headset connection for incomming calls - but not for outgoing calls. They further stated that MS stopped this feature generel in WM6.5 and provide extra programms only for special phones which are extra noted as "support voice dialing".
So it seams to be a problem of the current bluetooth stack in WM6.5.
