WOW: just got my XPERIA X2 !! Unboxing video, first impressions, Q&As, User guide... - XPERIA X1 General

WOW: just got my XPERIA X2 !! Unboxing video, first impressions, Q&As, User guide...
WOW I am amazed Sony did it again, got my retail (final) version SE X2 today, some quick first impressions (my thumbs are busy touching the phone right now )
.
UNBOXING
EDIT: Unboxing Video link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y8eVv-BnzSY
- The box is smaller than X1, well packaged, simple but clever and proper
- A 4GB micro SD is included, along with a 1500 mAh Battery (same battery as X1), standard USB charging wall (mains) plug and USB-microUSB cable, a little user manual, and cool Sony earphones / handsfree
- It comes with what seems to be a TV OUT CABLE INCLUDED ?? (lemme check this one and confirm -> EDIT: CONFIRMED !! TV out cable included, see pic down)
FIRST IMPRESSIONS
- BUILD QUALITY is WAY better than X1 or any HTC plastic phone (comparing to the (HD2 and Diamond2/Pure right now): this phone has METAL all around and just feels SOLID but LIGHTER than X1
- The phone has a SOLID, METALLIC FEEL not found on my other HTC plastic cheapo phones (HD2 / Diamond2)
- Slightly less weigth than X1
- Slightly bigger than X1, BUT THINNER, even with the slick "grab me from here" bulks in the battery cover. NOT AS BULKY AS RHODIUM.
- NEW battery COVER: METALLIC, sleek (easy to take with both hands to thumb type), and it has a RELEASE BUTTON that makes it very easy to remove without struggling with come cramped holes or using a knife to open it: just push the release button and plop it goes from right to left (sort of oppening a chest)
- The SIM compartment has been redesigned too: another improvement over X1
- The micro SD slot is besides the SIM holder, accessible from the outside once you twist-open the battery door.
- New stylus design, easyer to grab (just to test... I never use it )
TURN ON
Used to Captain slow's X1 boot time, I pressed powwe and put it over the table to take a look at the USB cable... UPS... IT WAS ON AND READY in no time, so I can not drescribe the boot process, all I can say is it was FAST
- THE SCREEN IS GORGEOUS, WOW !! Bright and crips. Not capacitive, but brighter and crispier than the HTC Diamond2 sitting by its side. THIS IS DEFINITIVELY NOT THE SAME SCREEN FROM THE X1, THIS ONE IS WAY BETTER
- The new keyboard layout is OMG... GREAT: good feedback, solid buttons, control key, shortcut for video out, etc etc etc... just as looking as a tiny standard PC keyboard - SCORE on this one !!
- 8.1 Megapixel with flash and geotagging I gotta feeeling I ain't sleeping tonite !! Hmmm... WVGA video recording with LED light anyone ?? Yesss.
- THE DEFAULT TILES PANEL IS AMAZING, the animations come from another world, and it is VERY useful
- SONY HAS REVAMPED MOST ICONS FROM THE STOCK WinMo 6.5 START MENU, and has face-lifted many interfaces as the "create a new mail account" dialogue. COOL and finger friendly !!
.
EDIT: I just found it has a menu to CUSTOMIZE INPUT FEEDBACK with TWO BIG LEDs located at the top and bottom of the phone, and HAPTIC FEEDBACK (vibration at touch) too. Sweeeet.

More to come as it emerges ...

I am glad to continue finding MORE FACE-LIFTED WM6.5 menus and dialogs
No no no no, I CAN'T BELIEVE IT
Guys my HTC Pure (Diamond2) and HD2 are up FOR SALE, I don't want them anymore
CON:
The USB port is similar but DIFFERENT, which means my previous cables CAN'T BE USED with the X2 !!! (looks like a flatten out mini USB port = micro USB port, thanks for pointing out !!)
MORE INFO UPDATE
1- There's a lot of new software to describe and comment
2- Curiously enough: NO OPERA, but the newer Pocket Internet explorer is behaving fine
3- The new panels interface is more complex: the panels button won't take you to the 9 panels selector but to a scrollabel menu (sort of the "Media Xperience Panel" looked like), wher you can finger-scroll access MAIL, SE SYNC, PANELS, PLAY NOW, MEDIA [slide view] (notice this is not a panel itself, but integrated into the "panels" interface, which I like a LOT), CALENDAR, and CALL HISTORY (this one includes the new dialer/contacts/calls user interface)
I will have to post TONS of pics to fully describe it
4- Sony has made custom themed icons (electric green over black) for many Bronze (WM6.5 Start Menu) apps: help, SlideView, Camera, Media, Panels (yes: a link to access the panels interface) and "SE Sync", which is an online backup service (like "MS MyPhone")
5- GAMES: Preloaded are Bubble Breaker, Solitaire, "EXPERIMENT 13" (looking good... let´s test a bit more !!) and XTRAKT
6- Other on-board software: Google Maps, Boingo Mobile, a NATIVE YOU TUBE APP !!! Marketplace and MyPhone are there too, along with the traditional WM6.5 apps and shortcuts. Adobe Reader LE is there too.
7- Pressing "settings" shows the typical System, Personal and Commections folders plus a themed "Backlight and Power" shortcut. I NOTICED POWER IS READ IN 1% INCREMENTS HERE, SO A TASKBAR DRIVER WOULDN'T BE SO HARD TO ACCOMPLISH
8- Here in settings the NEW SONY COMM MANAGER, WOW, way a lot better that HTC's one, more complete, and of course theme matched to the tiles panel. YOU CAN EVEN SELECT DLNA, Direct Push or VIDEO OUT SOURCE FROM THIS NEW COMM MANAGER
9- There's a NEW TASK MANAGER TOO: theme matched and more ample (finger friendly). I love this one too. BEWARE is preset to minimize, not CLOSE apps when pressing the "x"
10- The reset button is hidden under the stylus (battery cover has to be removed)
NOT PRESENT:
- Miscrosoft .NET Compact frameworks 3.5 IS NOT PRE-INSTALLED
- Opera Browser is not present
- No "quick GPS" (it's HTC's)
SOME TESTED APPS:
- hTorch (requires NET CF 3.5) --> not working ??
- CapSure --> OK
- WMWiFiRouter --> OK
- HTC Pure's Music ID tweaked / ported app for SEX2 (uploading soon ) --> OK
- HTC Blackstone's MP3 trimmer tweaked / ported app for SEX2 (uploading soon ) --> OK
.

Oh my godness congratulations !!!
Tell us the differences and everything now !, god damnit im so excited to se how it looks inside !
And if you say its smoth etc, it will prob run at almost the same paste on out poor x1
once agin CONGRATULATIONS !
EDIT: How much did it cost you ?

Very very compliments!
The thing that interest me is the multimedia capabilities: please try to make a video in full quality with camera, than see if it can play without lags. (if you can post the video...)
How is fast in panels? and how fast is tilewave panel?
Hope somethings good can be installed on X1.

Nice one, are you going to give a rom dump a chance soon?

Another thing: there is a media xperience panel?
Tell me yes! I cant live without.

AWESOME! I am jelous!!!

Interesting - what processor and ram does it have ?

Same as our x1 models :/ but thats a good sign since the rom has a bigger probability running on our x1's as i have been waiting since a week after i got my x1

Just watch the multitude of videos on youtube, and you'll see that they replaced the media panel, and built it into "Slideview", the launcher for the new panel manager.

Gratz Gtrab,
finally somebody with good experience got an X2 ,Dream come true.
i am sure that the Dump is been done already and Gtrab is cooking and adding some spices and salt.
by the way jbenchmark Results proof that X2 has ultimate java emulator (hope to see it soon around) can you canfirm it ??
Happy for You G

What is the speed compared to other devices?

Hi GTrab,
Please let us know, when it will be OK to post some questions without being too pushy (as I believe you will answer many of them with your impressions/review).
Thanks.

I was kinda poo-pooing the X2 to myself, but after hearing gtrab gush about, maybe I do want one . Regardless, I'll get a chance to try out some of the stuff when the panels, etc. get ripped out of it.
Hope you love your X2 gtrab, and I hope you will be willing to share some of the new goodies with us.

I will try to answer all Qs
And yes I am trying to find a way to dump
Tilewaves panel is AWESOME and FAST

This is what the X1 should've been.

I'm very happy to read this!!!
I was one of those who thought it's a great device...
It's my next phone.
I will also ask some questions soon...
Great!!!

Hmm... now you're tempting me to get the X2 as well... Had only just decided to give up on it and stick to my X1 while I got the X10 as my 2nd phone...

But it's strange it has no Opera....
Seems like Opera guys got close to HTC (present on HTC HD)
Opera used to be preloaded on all UIQ3 devices...
Why??

updating post 2 with some more info right now

Thanks in advance,

I've tested this cab on a HTC blue angel. It installed ok and it performed an auto reset at the end.
I've attached some snapshots with it, please see my comments.
I too installed this program . It was a great try and a needed application. at 80kb its a decent plugin , however i had the same issues in both portrait and landscape as above. Icons are too big (they are cutoff halfway) In the options tab you may wish to add the option to resize. The auto soft reset without warning was a little unerving. You have to fix that ! Thanks again for the opportunity.

Thanks radhoo, thanks kinmont,
i will quickly fix the resolution problem and add a message that notifies of the soft reset.
All the info i need regarding the device is:
Model Name
RUU
Platform
and confirmation that toggles are working totally or partially.
Thanks,
Raul
I've uploaded more compact versions. Same links. Hope that it looks well on 2003 devices.
Cheers,
Raul
Apache/ppc-6700--WM5 (aku 2.1)
Display: Looks fine now, all images display properly
Icons: All work. They enable/disable function and show correct status.
Recommendations: Space out the icons so they are equall spread across the screen e.g. the wifi icon would "touch" the right hand side much like the logo on the left.
Big one: Need 5-way navigation support! I really hate whipping out my stylus to do such a task, but being able to navigate over each function (w/ a bright, thick red selection border) would be ideal. PhoneAlarm has this function with 1.5 and it would be a good idea to have.

Hi Raul,
All toggles work fine for me Device is Orange SPV M5000, WM5, Radio 1.09... Nice plug-in - props to ya!
Aesthetic improvements I'd like to see -
1)The first button (I take it that this is your 'logo' as it seems to have no effect when tapped) should have a different colour background to the rest, ideally no background at all or just a thin border of a contrasting colour around it.
2)That's it!
*edit* - I had no soft reset post installation, just went back to today screen and there it was!
Thanks again . I tried the new plugins and they are the correct size now but when i installed this a few of my prorams stopped displaying on the today screen. once i removed the program the plugins came back. Anyone else wit that issue?
A suggestion make the icons transparent so they blend in with the background. and if you wish to make it aesthecally pleasing i world suggest making the icons round similar to the freeware program found at the link below:

Ok kinmont thanks for the reply. I will change the layout of the plugin and the notify the comunity about it here. And i'll add the 5-button navigation as malatesta suggested it
Cheers,

Great! Look forward to the new version!
This plugin came in handy in the car when I needed to switch to BT quickly so it's definitely a great idea.
One more thought: Since you already have Wifi, BT and Phone, why not use that 4th icon (the logo?) to the left as a GPRS toggle?
That'd give all 4 radio functions all in one place, plus I could see a use for it (if I kill my Phone radio w/active data, my active data won't return till after a soft reset, so I need to manually "close it down" before hand).
Ok guys here's a new version for you
Enjoy!
http://teksoftco.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=120
Working just great! Thanks for adding all of those recommendations! And the favourite SSID addition is real nice as well.
Can somebody with a Hermes test it and get back with some feedback?
Please guys
Cheers,
Raul
no config options? is it possible to make a text versions in one line?
i don't really like those big icons, they eat too much space
thanks and regards.
What would you like to configure?
Did you test it on a Hermes device?
What do you mean that the icons are too big? In version 2 i made the plugin as big as a normal standard today plugin...
Can you please detail more on "make a text versions in one line".
Thanks,
Raul
i mean something like:
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Bluetooth: OFF || Wi-fi: ON || IRDA: OFF || AS: OFF
---------------------------------------------------------------------
i mean a text version of the plugin, those icons are too big (and, in my personal opinion, pretty ugly).
don't take it as an offence, just trying to be constructive
Aha,
i see. No problem as i didn't planed it for a longer use just for testing purposes... I will add some nice alphablended icons.
Stay tuned.
Cheers,
Raul Tinca
cool, thanks

Caisses : Sokoban Freeware

Hi Everyone !
I don't post to much around here, but I read the news daily I wanted to do a little PPC dev for my HTC P3600 with a friend of mine, and as he's using linux, we couldn't go with all the microsoft compiler solutions :s
So we just went with CeGCC and coded are own and easy library ^^
Anyways, here's one of the games we made, I'll post the others later on
Caisses is a Sokoban clone that includes 500 levels and 14 different backgrounds and themes.
The original version of Caisses is Caisses DS, a Nintendo DS homebrew coded by Kukulcan.
In this game, you are a warehouse keeper, and your mission consists in arranging boxes by pushing them onto their designated locations...
Boxes can be pushed, but not pulled, and the controls are simple : either point to the spot to move to with the stylus, or use the directional pad !
Download Caisses
Oh, beware, this is PocketPC ONLY, you need the touchscreen to exit the app :s
edit : tested on Pocket 2003SE and up, not sure how it'll go for 2002 and lower :s
I'll just up this topic a little, did ANYONE test it ? :s

Touchscreen is unresponsive on my QVGA device (Kaiser) for the game options (eg Play/Help etc) and I really have to press really, really hard to activate the choice I want. The graphics are awesome but I got frustrated after the first 5 min struggling to press my screen and play the game further...eventually uninstalled the game...
Here's an update which should work much better :
1.05
- CPU optimizations
- Ram optimizations
- Support for WinCE GPS
- Added Check and Cross to show which games are finished and which ones aren't in the level selection screen...
- Optimized theme changing routine (you can just move around on the theme page, you don't need to click everywhere anymore)
1.06 update : level 80 fixed !
Versioin 1.10 is out :
- Restart button when ingame to avoid having to quit and come back (triggered by the softkeys on smartphone)
- Fixed minor glitch on the selection screen
- Added full DPAD support in the menu
- 240x320 smartphones can now play 100% !
- VGA-screen friendly !
- Updated source code
great game. works great on my kaiser.
i am almost sure that levels 280 and 320 are impossible though. (there might be others but i haven't completed every level yet)
got it from freewarepocketpc.net gota say grate simple game to take up time..
thanks for tha work..

Throttle Vs. SPB Shell Vs. WAD Vs. PointUI

OK So I have tried all of these and I have a few issues with each of them because they are all see to be missing something. I have rated them and I was wondering what you guys take is on them. Here we go.
Throttle:
- Finger Friendly: Yes
- Overall Rating - 7.5
- Visual Rating - 8.5
- Speed - 7.0
Throttle is cool but as far as space on you device is concerned it can fill it with a lot of short cuts and make it look very cluttered. it can also run slow on different devices and can be hassle for others who like a clean and quick running machine.
WAD:
- Finger Friendly: No
- Overall Rating - 8.0
- Visual Rating - 8.0
- Speed - 6.0
WAD was actually pretty cool. I downloaded it and played around with the Vista skin that was featured in this forum. I did find that WAD was very complicated to get the themes to work and there was not much help on the Lakeridge forums when I had questions and issues with it showing the wrong thing. Also when switching from landscape to portrait was a hassle and took a good long amount of time. Visually it was nice but many areas were hard to click on due to size of fingers and links.
Point UI:
- Finger Friendly: Yes
- Overall Rating - 9.0
- Visual Rating - 10
- Speed - 9.0
Point UI was a great program to use. Very fast. Plenty of options and allowed for control of sounds, comm manager, and finger scrolling. I greatly enjoyed this program. One Problem was it was not Alt Tab friendly nor were you able to make your own short cuts to help get to programs faster. I was very pleased with the speed and animation and highly recommend this.
SPB Mobile Shell:
- Finger Friendly: Yes
- Overall Rating - 9.5
- Visual Rating - 9.5
- Speed - 10
After all the programs I always seem to be going back to SPB Mobile Shell. the fact that is is finger friendly and highly customizable make it so much fun to use. Also the visually the effects are amazing as well as being easy to navigate. it is very fast and with its integration with SPB Phone suite it can allow to change sound volume and hopefully soon enable the comm manager from SPB Phone.
Now that I have that out of the way for now I am wondering what you think? Which is the best, easiest to customize, visually beautiful, and fun to use. Let me know? I am looking for something that will incorporate well.
WAD2 is the best..with WAD2 you can create the other design of the programs which you have mention for sure

Point UI was a great program to use. Very fast. Plenty of options and allowed for control of sounds, comm manager, and finger scrolling. I greatly enjoyed this program. One Problem was it was not Alt Tab friendly nor were you able to make your own short cuts to help get to programs faster. I was very pleased with the speed and animation and highly recommend this.
SPB Mobile Shell:
- Finger Friendly: Yes
- Overall Rating - 9.5
- Visual Rating - 9.5

After all the programs I always seem to be going back to SPB Mobile Shell. the fact that is is finger friendly and highly customizable make it so much fun to use. Also the visually the effects are amazing as well as being easy to navigate. it is very fast and with its integration with SPB Phone suite it can allow to change sound volume and hopefully soon enable the comm manager from SPB Phone.
Now that I have that out of the way for now I am wondering what you think? Which is the best, easiest to customize, visually beautiful, and fun to use. Let me know? I am looking for something that will incorporate well.

What is your number scale based on? Meaning, you have to have to extremes that you consider amazing (10) and really bad (1 or 0 depending whether it is 0-10 or 1-10). Please consider two things when making a post like this one:
a) While it might be usefull for noobs, you want to be as clear as possible as to what your selection criteria was. Otherwise, you will end up causing more questions than answers.
b)Even though "Development and hacking" might be the best place to put this kind of thread (due mainly to exposure), I think that you should have posted this in the "General" section.
I know that you had good intentions trying to share your personal experiences with the rest of the community, which is why I am advising you to first check if another thread of this kind already exists (I have seen quite a few comparing virtually everything in this site). Maybe the person who started the other thread asking this exact same question is still waiting for an answer on his own post (and will not bother to check for new threads).
Besides, keeping new threads to a minimum makes the devs happy (and keeps CG away )
SPB Mobile Shell: (loved this, BUT battery draining issue). Also, the flexibility to mods the layout to suit my taste.
- Finger Friendly: Yes
- Overall Rating - 9.5
- Visual Rating - 9.5
- Speed - 10
Point UI: (tested (early version) it, but removed because of so many bugs)
- Finger Friendly: Yes
- Overall Rating - 9.0
- Visual Rating - 10
- Speed - 9.0
WAD: (great for non-touch WM based smartphone)
- Finger Friendly: No
- Overall Rating - 8.0
- Visual Rating - 8.0
- Speed - 6.0
Throttle: (have not test it, so couldn't give feedback)
- Finger Friendly: Yes
- Overall Rating - 7.5
- Visual Rating - 8.5
- Speed - 7.0
I'd add Ultimate Launcher to this comparison....
I hate SPB Mobile Shell for the simple fact that its program list only lists 9 at a time and I have to press next repeatedly to get the U and Z. Haven't found a way around that. I know it has some frequently used shortcuts but when I suddently want to use something, I don't want to press Next like 10 times to use it. I like everthing else about SPB Mobile Shell but that one problem makes me uninstall it.
PointUI is better because the prog list is scrollable and beautiful. So if I want the Z, I'll just have to swipe my thumb once or twice and it will vroom-vroom to the bottom part of the prog list. In fact, I'm currently using PointUI on my phone with Wisbar Advance (my own TuiFone theme with a "secret" close button ). For those who used 1.02b and earlier, there is a new 1.5a which is much better and less buggy!!!
WAD is confusing to set up and customize. Wisbar Advance (WA) is better in term of user-friendliness.
Throttle is slow on my device.

First of all thanks for including my app on a list with such awesome apps . Also I think you've forgoten (may be you haven't tried them jet) other really cool apps like UltimateLaunch or rltoday. For the apps you've included I'm almost with you in all your apreciations, but here's why I started developing ThrottleLauncher 6 months ago:
- PointUI: awesome but too fixed imo (at least the version I tested then). I don't know if it's possible now but it's not configurable at all.
- WAD: you have to pay for it so I haven't tested it.
- SPB MS: you have to pay for it. It looks really nice though.
- UltimateLauncher: I didn't knew this app six months ago... probably I will have had many doubts to start Throttle's development if I have seen it before . The drawback for me is that it's not completly free and that it's l&k configuration is limited to icons and animations.
- Rltoday: fully configurable (but complex) and it's functionality is too mixed with mortscripts (wich by the way is other really nice peace of soft)
As the first user of throttle is me I've designed it to match my needs so I will not do any comments other than there's still lot's of things to do.
Hope this other point of view is helpfull for people to choose it's XDA engine .

I will like to add few things:
MS: to much finger friendly.. i dont want to swipe or click next for like 10 times.. also its not that much customizable.. because of xda we have so many themes and skins.. but it is still PITA to customize it.. and its very costly .. atleast for me.. i think in general also.. ($30 is a lot of amount.. especially when you have already purchased pocket plus.. )
pointui and wad: never used them.. cant comment
RLtoday: first program which i used.. loved it and still love it.. have it incorporated in UL.. you have to make your own skins via xml... that can be learned in like 4 days.. only problem is you have to place icons by co-ordinates.. it does not automatically place them.. so you have to be sure where you want to put your icon and that means lot of trial and error.. but once you get hang of it.. you can do some amazing work..
UL: my current launcher.. provides you with everthing.. cube, sliding animation on today.. complete customization.. ...negative points will be only icons type used is .ico and you have to take care of size.. also you cant use UL all by itself.. UL is more dependent on other plugins to make it work better.. best used with RLtoday, Pocket plus and Vijay555 tools IMO (my setup uses these three)
Throttle: used its 0.5 and 0.6 version. Lot of potential in the app.. 0.9 version is very good.. installed it but still using default theme as dont have time to work on a new one.. picture thumbnail view is awesome and something new.. it is also a complete package.. inbuilt photo contact, system shortcuts, running programs, task manager... much more than any other single app but i think because of that memory and speed issues are there.. waiting for apbilbo to reach his target of ver 1.0 and then hope to see some major code changes which can make it run faster my gene .. .. or may be it will be much more faster when 1.0 is released... (no pressure alfonso.. )
personally i dont mind memory cause after this you dont need anything.. but speed is a issue..
I'm a WAD user. And I personally think that WAD has potential. It is a great software. Its flexibility is the best. The skinning thing is fabulous! But sometimes it cost a lot of time.
I can give WAD a full mark, but I won't. Its HUGE memory consume is its largest drawback, d'oh! I'm still using this software though
Waiting for WAD2! I think it's animated, and gesture enable...
Where is iFonz in your test??????
WAD2 has animation gestures, in fact I have tryed every beta (WAD2 beta 1 to 6) and they are really cool, try them!!
UL is another very good choice, but not as customizable as WAD2.
Agreed,
as I have mentioned before, WAD flexibility is the best! And if I may say, WAD is finger-friendly if you want it to be finger friendly, hahaha
here's for example, I made this as my programs launcher on WAD
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
And yess, I believe WAD2 is going to be kickass
I have used mobile shell, ultimate launch and pointUI. Now I settle with pointUI after the new version is out.
I never liked the way mobile shell works, always uninstalled before the trial is over, even when I used the pointUI theme.
The old pointUI is too buggy that I have to soft reset way too often that's when I started using ultimate launch. However like someone else pointedout ultimate launch depends heavily on other plug in to look nice.
Then recently after new pointui was launched I started using again. There is only few complaint, which is because I don't use my phone for email or message at all and I can't replace those for anything, and occasionally the scroll won't work which I can always use the D-pad. Other than that this is perfect, works beautifully with open touch 4.0 lite black rom. To me poiintui is the way to go.
To each his own on which UI is better. I've tried them all and they all have there good / bad points so this debate could go on forever. I'm sure this question will be asked a million times more and then when WM7, Android come out, we will start over.
* MS2.0 is what I currently use *
Cool article, will definitely link to it in my next, related article!

Thanks. I try. I am a stickler for making my stuff banging. At the moment aI am using hte prerelease version of the MS Carbon skin and I love it with the 3 tabs. ALong with S2U2, S2p, S2V, and some other great stuff.
WAD is my favorite out of everything I've tried. I'm loving the flexibility of the skins
for me the best applications are:
about today plugin :
1 Ultimate Launch
2) Battery Status and rlToday
iphone like:
1) iFonz ( very easy to customize)
2) Itask (very beautiful but it seems developpment is stopped now), not easy to customize but reall we can do many things
3) PointUi (not easy/nearly nothing to customize)
4)Throttle Launcher (not used , seems to be complex and not working for all on my P3600, even if I like the concept)
Video appli :
1)TCPMP (work perfectly on my P3600)
Others:
A_c's suite (S2U2,S2P, S2V)
Background applis:
- elias killer appli
- shantz today theme changer
I had another application tobe able to have 9 different desk but it doesn't work anymore (probably after instally BatteryStatus) it is V2R Multidesk : if I had not this problem it will be the best plugin but not now anymore (it is the only commercial program I have)
Cheers

iFonz is what I currently use right now, I have tried Mobile Shell, and some other ones, but I like iFonz because it has animations for when you are opening a program, and is very iphone like (almost exact copy). I only wish that it would use less RAM, as with the Mogul, if i try to open Opera 9.5 while iFonz is running (to use my iphone web browser) it will close iFonz, since it runs out of RAM, this will probably not be a problem on a future device with more RAM (like Touch/Tilt)but for my use with my sprint mogul, it is the only downside i see to ifonz.
PointUI 1.51a is honestly one of the coolest UI's out there. I love it because of its simplicity and the fact that it just works. It could use customizations (like wallpaper) but it still looks sharp and runs awesome with my HTC Touch. I use s2p and s2u2 with it and they work very well hand in hand. One minor issue with pointui is the Red Button on the htc touch takes you to the windows home screen, but a simple mort script eliminated this issue. The best part of pointui is the speed. The new contact list is far superior. Now if only they would give you the option to reverse the scroll direction...

Just Got My HD...Charging Now...

I've been following this forum in anticipation of receiving my HD. Now that it is in hand, I don't know where to begin...So, I'm asking all you experienced HD owners out there for help. If you had to do it all over again, what would you do with your HD once unboxed and charged. Please provide a list of important settings and tweaks that is a must for new HD owners.

thanks for all the info, definitely love this device.
flash the rom lol. after installing all my apps, I found flashing the rom to one with all the performance tweaks and what not gave a better response. then install what you want after. also, get a screen protector put on asap if you plan on doing it. that way not 1 spec of dirt gets under it. If i could do it again, thats the major thing that bothers me.

"TOUCH BREAK" is a clone of Arkanoid / Breakout.
It has different level types, highscore and player profile and lots of other stuff...
- This game is auto scaling to all resolutions, but graphics have been optimized to run on WVGA. But don't hesitate - try it on your device, and see how it works - and report back here!
=> Issue 1: Zip downloaded?
>>> Just your browser playing tricks on you. Rename to .cab extension, and it should be able to install and work, just fine.
=> Issue 2: Error about Flash Lite player during install/run:
>>> Download and install:
http://www.mediafire.com/?u9zr4lnt1ht
=> Issue 3: Game is not fullscreen:
>>> Just choose "MENU", then choose "Fullscreen".
How to play:
- Put your finger on the slide below the breaker.
- Slide sideways to move the slide.
- TIP! Keep an eye on the time! If timer reaches 0, this result in "instant death", no matter the lives you have left!
- TIP! Keep as many balls in play as you can, as you gain points for each ball in play, when you hit a brick. Fx. if you have 1 ball in play and hit a brick, it counts for 1 point. But if you have 3 balls in play, the same brick counts for 3 points!
- TIP! You get TIME BONUS after each round!
- TIP! Certain rounds gives you an extra ball!
To-do:
- Lots, lots, lots of other stuff... this is only a 0.5 version!

Features:
=> 5 different level types!
Optimizations:

v0.3 released.
Features:
=> Highscore list now working!
=> In-between screen between levels!
=> More levels and backdrops! (Also stuff I've been drawing)
=> If timer reaches 0, this will result in "sudden death" (you die no matter how many lives you have left)
=> Revised endGame-screen, that tells you your rank
Error corrections:
=> Back buttons in menus not working
2009 - August, 13

A lot of thanks to the above people! Doing stuff for folks in here is very fun, but it's always very nice to know, that this work is appreciated!
Hi,
I tested it on Touch HD.
Game works fine but sometimes slows when lots of balls.
In main menu Settings, HighScores and Credits do not work (can't entry).
But game ivery very nice
Just need long thumb to play on 3,8"
Great! Been looking for a game like this, will try it out
I get a network unavailable error, any ideas?
Vonski >
Thanks for the feedback - I'm aware of the issues - The menu is mostly conceptual with no linkings for the subjects you've mentioned. I'll propably end up locking the number of balls, to a maximum of 3 at a time.
daDeadMan >
Hey!
When do you get the error?
And have you installed Flash Player Lite, as stated in the installation instructions...?
Works fine on Samsung i900 Omnia.
It is too easy for me, the ball should bounce only on the board, rather than "circle" under it.
Within a few seconds there are flying dozens of balls, which slows down the game.
it's pretty neat. Easy to play and looks nice. I agree hat it's a little too easy. I had about 100 balls flying around just breaking bricks for me It does slow down when the numbers start to exceed a dozen balls or so. Also, the entire platform (top and base) deflect balls which makes it easier as well cause if you miss the ball you can just sweep the screen. It's neat but it may make it too easy. It resizes to VGA just fine. I've attached a screenshot. With a little tweaking I think you have something real real good here though. When it was going full speed at the beginning it was a lot of fun. You may want to add falling bricks that add options, like brick breaker/arkanoid... I like where it's heading though! Good luck with the project.
wow thanks for this game !!!!!!!!!!

I get the error when i run it. A popup, TouchBr001, says network unavailable, Try again later. Have flash lite installed and running energy rom on an xperia. Does the game require wifi or an internet connection of some sort?
Same for me. "Network unavailable". (On a Topaz)
hey guys you should learn how to read ! it is written in the first post download the DP flash lite and install it

I agree And the worst thing is that when the screnn s as you shown you don't need to play anymore because the balls are playing themself
I started the game and didn't do anything because I got a call and when I looked at the screen after a few minutes I already had ca. 30 balls and couldn't loose anymore. First game I ever tried that you can beat without doing anything
After that I tried it again but it didn't work because the slider always starts where you press play. After another 2 tries it worked. Just hit the play button on the right side, do nothing after that and you wont loose

thanks a lot for the update
So now, lets play
Works great on my HTC Fuze running WM 6.5 Energy ROM.
Couple suggestions/requests:
1. Put a break in between levels. As soon as a level completes, it dumps you into the next level. Putting a pause in there (Like a Ready? screen they can tap to start the next level) will allow people to recover from a furious level.
2. Additional types of "Bonus" blocks would be nice other than extra balls. Like an Extra Life, Larger Pad, Sticky Pad or whatever you can imagine.
Those are it for now, I am sure I can think of more sometime later.
Between this game and Fruity, so far, you are becoming one of my favorite game devs!
So far, both games run nicely and they look fantastic on my Fuze!
Keep up the great work!
Hi there, great app. Just like Fruity! All thanks to Flash Lite, it does increase the smoothness of the experience. For the Touch Break however, we are experiencing issues when holding onto the slider for a certain amount of time - the menu for Flash pops up (as seen below).
Otherwise, it's great! And we've written a brief review for it: Check it out!
Talderon >
- Break between levels: Yeah, I know But everything has a priority, and for this release, finishing up some graphics stuff and improve gameplay itself, was main priorities... as for breaks between levels - it will come - and it'll be a bit funnier than just the typical "ready"-message... (to make the player think it's worth the while to have finished the level).
- Extra powerups: Yup, those will come too. Maybe not all of them, but certainly, some! Also, some "death"-bringers will come. But I try to think a bit out of the box with this game, so some of them might not be that familiar...
MrWangKai >>
Yeah - that popup menu is BLOODY HELL ANNOYING! I've tried everything to disable the blasted thing, but nothing can do the trick.
It only comes if you double-tap and then hold... so far, I've myself gotten pretty much used to it by now, so it actually never happens when I play...
As this is wrapper-related (flash player lite), I can't do much about it (other than create a new flash wrapper myself, which is pretty drastic measures).
Not working on Omnia II
Something is wrong with flash lite I think
Yeah, I figured you thought of some of these as it is, just wanted to post it so it was "official from someone else" other than the voice in your head... Although, it seems those voices have some good ideas.
Keep it up and let us know if you have other games in the works. These look great and are fun!
WOW. Version 0.2 is much better. Good work
