Touch 2 on T-Mobile - Touch2 General

Does anyone know if the Touch 2/Mega can be used with T-Mobile's 3G? Anyone have any first hand experience in the US with this?
Thanks.

Why should be an issue using a phone on a particular carrier?
I bought here in Italy and used with my TIM sim card seamlessy, including 3G.

CNET review mentioned that the 3G protocol in Mega is for europe and not compatible for the US.

did you select a country other than the US? if not, you won't see the HD because it's not sold here. go to http://www.htc.com/www/ select Products and then select the HD for more info.

Hello,
I have Touch HD (T8282). I am visiting USA (Florida, Georgia, NC and NY states to be specific). I am planning to buy a sim card for my HD there. Will my HD work in USA (since HTC doesn't sells HD in USA)?? if yes, will it work on all GSM networks? if not, then is there any specific GSM network it will work??
Can I use GPRS / EDGE / HSDPA / 3G ??
Thanks ahead.

It will work GSM/EDGE with most US carriers like At&t & Tmobile. If your getting a prepaid SIM form another carrier, then just make sure that carrier has GSM...
as galaxys posted it will work on gsm & edge but you will not be able to get 3g or hsdpa, but you likely wouldn't have been able to attach data to a prepaid sim either.
thanks. I guess I'll take my other cell phone as well...just in case

Question about Unlocked Vodafone in U.S.

Hey everyone quick question. If a T-mobile customer in the U.S. were to order an unlocked magic branded with the Vodafone logo, could they still update the phone and such when the U.S. version hits in July. Say that U.S. T-mobile has sent out an update for their phone, could the person who has the Vodafone version update as well? I am debating about ordering an unlocked magic from Timtechs.com to use here in the U.S. and was wondering what were the possible drawbacks, besides 3G, that I may face.
For the same price (or less actually) as the vodaphone imports you can get one of the Google ION phones off of ebay if you're looking for something a little more interesting.
It supports the american 3G bands as well. I paid 589 for mine.
I have debated on ordering one, but am afraid of possibly receiving just a box lol. Actually the area of texas i live at doesn't have 3G yet, I am always running the E - EDGE network so it really doesn't bother me.

Got one for $400 practically new. Camera is decent but no AF and flash suck ball.
or get the one of the ones Rogers is releasing tomorrow in Canada..
Well, would it be the same version that the U.S. should be getting? if i could find a good canadian website that would ship to the U.S. I may be looking into this lol.
I just received a Vodaphone HTC Magic version and I got the phone to work nicely on AT&T with the APN info. But, 3G does not work. It only shows EDGE. Does anyone know how to get the 3G to work? Or, is there a ROM that I can flash to?
Let me know -

No since it has different 3G radio.
Rogers version will work since it has the same 3G bands as AT&T (850 and 1900).
Hey, wait....so since it has the same bands as AT&T...would that be the same as T-Mobile? Any one know a good canadian retailer who ships to the U.S.?

Anyone Used a TMOUS HD2 in Asia or Europe with 3g?

I'd really like to know if anyone has used an unlocked TMOUS HD2 in Asia or Europe and has been able to get 3g data. I've seen threads here saying that it will and will not work, but no one that has actually tried it.

I'ved used Kaiser and Touch Pro in Japan with the same 2100MHz UMTS-Band I. If you don't understand the bands, then good luck.

I understand the bands. The confusion is that TMOUS uses 2100 up and 1700 down (or vice versa) for 3g, so some think that it can't handle the Euro and Asian 2100 up and down. There's no clear specs that I can see where 2100 is a standalone for up and down for 3g data.
I've read threads here from supposedly knowledgeable people saying that it can and can't work. That is why I'd like someone who has actually tried it rather than guesses and speculation.
I hope you're right and thanks for the info.

I'm with you and I agree the labeling is somewhat inconsistent.
However, the consistency I've seen in any official docs, including the manual and FCC is if they list 1700 in the official specs, it's FDD-IV AWS (1700+2100), and if they list 2100, it's FDD-I (1900+2100).
In fact, there has never been any official docs that explicitly list what the up/down frequencies are so you can definitely take it as Band-I and Band IV.
Band-I can be used with most Asia/Euro carriers
I hope you guy's are right. I'll feel much better when someone actually uses a TMOUS HD2 in Europe or Asia with 3G an reports back.

remember that the G1 works in europe fine with the 3g. us g1 has been used in europe so i don't see the HD2 being any different. if not call htc and tell them you will be traveling abroad with your HD2 and will it work in europe with 3g.

True, but I think the HD2 uses a different radio that is part of the Snapdragon chipset, I may be totaly wrong, but that's why I'm so dubious.
Good idea, I never thought of calling HTC. Although, I think I recall a post by someone doing that before the phone came out and the HTC rep just recited the supported bands instead of giving a definitive yes or no to 3g working in Asia/Europe. Nothing like real world use from someone actually doing it I suppose. Some of the reps at these companies know less than we do about their own products, lol. Either way a call to HTC can't hurt, thanks for the suggestion.

Thank you. I'll be looking forward to hearing your response.
I called HTC customer support and the rep told me that Asia, Europe, and the US are on different "networks", so we will not receive 3g outside the US. I'm pretty sure the rep has no clue. To be honest, if the rep told me it would work I would still not feel relieved, they seem to not know the most basic of things about their products.
We'll just have to wait till someone here reports back.
Since US HD2 has band 1 and 4 UMTS, it'll surely work in Europe and Asia (except in band 8 area).
Hi,

Do you get 3G service?
I sent an email to HTC regarding 3G and this is what I got:
"Thank you for contacting HTC.
With reference to your query, normally HTC HD2 does support 3G network. However, since this is an US local customize phone, we would suggest you to contact with HTC US for double check. You can select the country for US to drop them an email to check that.
Thank you for your continuous support of our products and services. Should you require further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us again. "

T-Mobile HD2 running on AT&T

Hi I have picked up a HD2, unlocked it and running on AT&T network in US. My phone always says "E" as the network which is for Edge network. How do I adjust the setting/etc to ensure I am using the fastest network which AT&T offers? thanks for your help. do I need to install a AT&T cab for it? is there a cab? do I need to tweak any settings?
thanks in advance
The HD2 will only work on AT&T's edge network. No AT&T 3G with the T-mobile HD2 version.
Thanks! is that the fastest network AT&T has? IF NOT, how can I enable the option to use the fastest network line?

You're stuck. Unless you import the Telstra HD2 from Australia, you will never have 3g data on at&t. It's a hardware issue. Buyer beware.
Do a thread search there are some that have gotten faster speeds (up to 500kbs) with a workaround.
But unfortunately the T-Mo phone is physically incapable hardware-wise to do 3g speeds.
IF you NEED the 3g speeds than search the threads for the HD2 model # t9193. The phone is from Australia and has the hardware to work with ATT 3g
if you dont mind me asking were to get the rom to flash my us t mobile hd 2 to usa att please help my email [email protected] are cell is 228-313-9380 name leon

Yea, do a search for my thread where I talked about this. All it does is opening up a proxy to give you a somewhat faster browsing. As a note: it might or might not work in your area.

Help - if I buy the LG V20 to use in the UK (unlocked) how do I update and 4G?

I posted this in the general section, but then I found this specific V20 area and hopefully you guys will be far more knowledgeable than I am.
I'm on an EE contract in England. the LG V20 is the phone I want to buy but it's not released here in the UK (ebay seems the only option and the closest).
It's got Nougat but it will eventually have updates. the LG V20 does not seem to be scheduled for release in the UK. How, if possible, can I update the phone's Android since my network does not stock that phone?
And it will work on 4G in the UK too?
Thank you for the help, I'm a novice Android user.
Cause you can update as and when available by the manufacturer if it's unlocked.

I just took the plunge and bought on eBay should be delivered next few days. I went for H990DS version which is apparently compatible with all 4g networks in the uk.
I would venture you can update manually with whatever lg uses to flash stock firmware or it will find an update over wifi.

I have an F800 Korean version using it on Vodafone. All 4G bands are supported. The only one missing is the 900MHz HSDPA band. Video calling works just fine. The downside is that you get the operator bloatware and is not easy to get rid of it.
P.S. Check the 4G(LTE) bands of your operator before buying. For example the Korean version you won't get 4G on O2.

I ordered mine too, so hopefully get it around the 7th/8th. I got the Taiwan version because of more 4G support in U.K. It will be used on EE and 3. In the past I have achieved speeds of 100mb with the Note, so would like to see how this would do as well. Such a shame we have to import... lg should be taking advantage of Samsung's catastrophic failure with the note 7. Oh by the way does anyone know if they share sim and sd card or the sd has its own dedicated slot?

I have the F800S. Is the SK Telecom model with some bloatware but the phone itself is great. Quality build and the audio and camera are superb. I wish I could somehow remove the Korean dialer. Even if you select English it still shows the Korean characters.
AUSSIES interested in the H990DS dual sim with 4g/3g capability, its available for $984 local stock, local shipping, genuine AU 12 month warranty from me. Only sold in 1 retailer outright/unlocked, JB HIFI from 8/11 with a price of $1099.

Hi all. Bit late to this chat but I've just bought an LG V20 online and am a little worried as LG themselves are telling me that I won't be able to connect to the 4G network at all as the frequencies are different. However the frequencies available on the specifications of the phone DO match the frequencies used by EE for 4G in the UK; are the LG operatives confused? Do your V20s work okay on the UK's 4G ? Thanks in advance
I'm also in the UK and I've had my H990ds Taiwan variant for 4 days.
I'm on Tesco Mobile (which uses o2) and 4G LTE is working just fine.
