I have a HTC ELF 0100 i want to change the language to english but i cant make anything. I try to hard reset the phone but this also is impossible. there is Windows mobile 6.1 installed in it.
Things you might need to know:
I HOLD the green and red Button and click on reset - for hard reset but nothing happens
To update an english rom i need to CID unlock. but this also fails saying ERROR 260.
And when try to upload a COOK rom it says ERROR 260 and the HTC screen become black i.e standy mode. it does not goes to the BOOTLOADER mode!
Where is the PROBLEM please help urgent !!
im sorry to tell u, but probably u dont have and elf. its a clone.
search the forum for clone info.
But i can assure you it an original one. Not clone or china made. But one things is that the battery is not an original one.
But i can assure you that the mobile is original. Not a China made.

Hi man thx for the REPLY but this also i tried !! it does not shows anything !! Only giving Data UNKONw or something like that!
I was able to install ENABLERAPI.cab to make the above PROGRAM work.
i want to know why the ElF is not able to HARD RESET.... I HOLD the TWO BUTTONS [red&green] and PRESS RESET but it never enter the HARD reset..
Very Strange and time comsuming for me i need a REAL solution !!

Big chance your phone is a fake.. I'm sorry man..
Perhaps if you posted some pictures of your device (also the backside without the cover, and one without the battery) some might be able to help you figure out what's going on.

All what you mentioned : No hard reset, No bootloader, No Data with mtty mean one thing this is a chinese clone of ELF and you will find no solution here

My phone it stuck on the Windows Mobile Screen. I can't even hard reset.. I get to the press '0' screen, I press '0' and then I get the Audiovox screen, then onto the Windows Mobile Screen. I got the phone off eBay, no waranty and I don't even know who the provider is. I was told I need a ROM but everywhere I've checked the links are broken.
Can anyone PLLLEEEEZZZEEEE let me know where I can get a ROM and which method is the best way to install it. I can only hook up by USB in the Typhoon three-color screen (can't do Activesync).

I have just got another M600 (Prophet) for my brother as I am so please with my first one. I have got this phone second hand and the owner has put in a secruity code/pin after the boot screen when in windows. I would obviously want to get rid of that, how could I do that? I have tried hard reset (Photo + Communication button and rest button), it didn't work. I would really want your help.

thats kind of strage, because normaly the passwort should be deleted after a hard-reset...
Maybe you should try to flash it

thats not for VGA devices, it's for QVGA which is why it's not working.
Can you acess the X1 from through activesync on your PC?
If so then you can uninstall it from there (add/remove programs)
if not then I'm afraid you'll have to hard reset, and learn a valuable lesson, make sure you know what it is you're installing..
Hard reset, is take the back cover off and stick the sytlus in the small hole in the side next to the battery, while holding down the two silver buttons on the front.

If you've done it right it must have made a difference as this wipes the devices memory. If you can't do this then don't even start messing about with mtty
if you see the SE logo, then you haven't done it right.
hold the two silver hardware keys on the front of the x1 down after you've reset. Keep pressing them down till you see some text that tells you to press R
If you don't see this screen keep trying (reset+press the keys) till you do.

Sorry to hear that, but as far as I know, you cannot flash a rom on a chinese elf clone, but it's also possible it's a chinese elf not a clone. Have you read this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=398965&highlight=chinese+elf+clone ? anyway do a search with these keywords in elf upgrading and elf forum.

the Chinese versions of these phones are called DOPOD's and if its an S1 you are looking at a Dopod S1 same as the elf or elfin with alot of the stuff removed.
its ebay if you new it was coming from HK then you should have thought about it. and how cheap did you buy it

Don't worry. I do have the same clone machine, I think.
You do need to do that with the device off or standby (I tried standby and worked). Also, the buttons pressing must be for some seconds (say 10 o more).
First press both red & green buttons and keep them pressed, and then press the power button (on top) and keep the three buttons pressed for +10 seconds or up to the moment you see ALL BLUE SCREEN. Then release the buttons.
In my case, I was searching for a solution after installing the WM6 SDHC drivers as directed (replacing dll files and the like) but then my device didn't recongnized a Kingston 8GB SDHC miniSD nor my previous 2GB miniSD.
After this Hard Reset procedure all returned to normal so I could restore my last backup file from card.

I changed my jasjar's tomal 6.1 rom to Original WM5 for sell my phone
but after changing rom, i have a terrible problem.
when i closed the battery for change the simcard and turn it on. when the windows logo appears a blue screen showed and the gsm led begin to work (blinker).
after several soft resets the windows starts and ready to work but when i press the power button to standby the device (sometimes) for turn on the device (after standby) the screen didn't appear.!!
i'm very upset
after that i flashing the radio to newer version (1.18) and flash back to WM6.1 TOmal , WM6 , ... but i still have this problem.
in the tomal's wm6.1 rom (TML_v82_WM61_19960) before the problem shown an error appears under the windows logo > The Skin Is Not Loaded < and after that a black or blue screen appears and nothing...
please help me to fix it.

Only thing I can think of is to doc-format (mtty). And then flash ROM again. Then make sure you Hard Reset.

It's not harmful - basically it totally wipes the device removing everything (including garbage). So you will, of course, need to flash a ROM afterwards.
