no photo for htc maple - Dash 3G, Snap General

why does this phone have no photo in the forum ? all the other phones have it except this one... please add one...
great phone

yes please add a pic

everybody already knows what it is why add a pic? why is this even a topic?

not really... i knew my phone by its branded name ozone... i would never have looked for maple and couldnt find it in any of the pictures.

...and while we're at it.... I think it should be just one forum instead of 3.
The issue with the photo is that there are a few different designs; HTC Snap is a bit different than Dash 3G, let alone Ozone.

i need

i need soft for add effect on pic (like Photo Shop)
Then start programming, woohoo!
You need what?! a Photoshop-Like Software?!?! Then you're on the wrong board *lol*
Yes, please explain... You need PS? or just some of it's features?
A more descriptive subject line helps too.
You subject "i need" is too short and does not tell viewers anything....and does not show very well in the forum list. If someone did have an answer for your question, they might not look at your post because of that.
My 2 cents. If you are looking for free photo editing software, I use Paint.net. Do a Google.
Good luck!
you need..... a doctor
I think he's looking for some software that can add effects on photo's on his phone, like many phones you can change it to black and white, sepia, crop, or what have you

Simulate G-Sensor using camera

Hi all, have somebody thought about simulating the accelerometer using the phone camera? It's possible?
I couldn't find anything about this, sorry, but i'd be really happy to know that there's someone coding something like this...
PS: sorry for my poor english
i dont see this happening at all... i mean a image is produced by using light... how would that information tell u which way or which angle the phone is on :S

Ok, but as the image moves the phone could know how am i moving it
Theoretically, it is possible. It would just be a huge battery sucker and not too accurate. I came across this game a long time ago, back when I still had my Titan (no accelerometer). It is called 3D Lawn Darts. It uses the camera to control your throws. Check it out:

It could work but only in a room covered with reference points all over the walls and floors like they use in 3D capture! LOL
I think the phone proccessor would choke on the proccessing! lol
there's a free app (i think) called CCSnake. Search for it. If you can't find it. Then search for Camera Controlled Snake. I tried it but the controls are not that good.

well not really.
Camera take as picture, then asks the user to set a referance point. somthing that stands out. It takes detaisl of that area (color shape, etc)
all further images are taken and referanced to that point. and the program then knows which way the PPC was turned. if you want rotaion then you just need two points.
For all movements just 3 referance points are needed.
This is very basic movemnets and your limited to the area you are in as the camera must see the original points. but it would work.
i saerched for this a long time and tought: maybe you can do it with an other part of the phone.
or maybe you can make a program to use this as a normal g-sensor with new accelerometer software.
erik
There was a game that I had on my old Motorola E815 that did just this. I think it was like a marble tilt game...it worked fairly well as long as you didn't move too fast and it wasn't too dark (or light for that matter, as the camera on the E815 was really mediocre).

Weird camera colour balance?

After taking a few pictures outside today, it seems the colour balance is completely shot on my HD2.
The effect is especially evident if you view the photos as thumbnails - there's a huge band of red in the centre of the photos.
I've attached a couple of examples, resized to VGA.
Has anyone else noticed a similar effect?

This occasionally happened to X1 photos. And it was because lens cover coating of the lens wore off. It was rather visible if you looked at the lens cover. Could be just dirty, too.
Yes, it is a common known problem of the hd2 camera.
can be moisture/glitch in white-balance (Very noticeable during video recording). I don't expect to get great results with this camera... so it doesn't really bother me.
to solve this issue change the auto white balance to outdoors not setting after auto, u will find this is best all round as i have after doing existence camera testing thought the day, i have some sample pics i took today ill add them once phones charged

same here outdoor delivers the best balance
Thanks for the replies guys. I'm pretty sure I was using 'outdoor' white balance in the photos above. Quite a few of the leo photos I've seen now have the red blotch in the middle to a greater or lesser extent.
I need to do a bit more testing.. just need some sun first!
The red splodge in the centre of pictures is quite shocking really!
Here's a picure of a plain wall which clearly shows the problem, the other picture has had the levels adjusted to highlight the problem even more
have you guys been in contact with HTC? i know i will if my phone turns out like that to.. power of the people!
Have you tried lowering the ISO sensitivity?... this looks like a defective ccd, rather than just wrong white-balance setting.

Nice one
My HD2 doesn't do this. All the pictures I've taken so far were just fine.
Last thing to try (under fluorescent lighting) - if there's a "FLICKER/FLICKERING" setting, try to play with it.
European devices should be set to 50Hz, In America/Asia - 60Hz.

1. Any possibility in passing on what settings you are using so that we all can further discuss this.
2. Have you tried pointing the camera at the ceiling indoors (or a large white space) and taking a shot. Is the shot clean and what colour does it show?

Okay.... I have now received a reply back from HTC.
The content of their reply is as follows:-
Dear valued HTC customer, Thank you for contacting our Customer Support Center. We are dedicated to providing you with the best quality service and answering all of your questions and concerns. This could be a driver conflict and we recommend to try a hard reset on it make sure that you back up all your data before the reset. If the problem still going on after this then contact us and we will send your device to be repaired or returned this device to the re-seller and exchange fo another one. If these steps have not helped, please let me know by responding using the link provided and I will be happy to check again for you. Best regards, HTC customer support team HTC Corp. Global Service Division http://www.htc.com/europe/CA_Hotline.aspx Call Center at: 44-120-271-4530 if you have further questions.
--------------------------------------------------
My reply back to this read as follows:-
Dear Support,
This is not a driver conflict issue and a hard reset is not going to cure this problem.
It is either a generic hardware fault that is effecting countless HD2's or a software error.
This will either have to be addressed as a recall of all machines exhibiting the problem or a ROM patch.
Regardless, this problem is now being reported not just by me but by other sites as well ~ including the site I mentioned in my initial message to you which again can be found at:- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=4969313#post4969313
Thanking you.
--------------------------------------------------
I'll continue to keep you all updates as and when further material is sent to me.
Note:
In the meantime; I shall be in Theatre all day today and will be away from my computer for the next 15hrs.
I will re-log on tonight at midnight GMT and check for any replies from HTC.

[Q] Pixel Quality? Error?

So quick question XDA. I noticed on my HD2 running FroyoStone 3.2 the pixel quality is bad...I wouldn't even say "pixel" cause its just the textures on some things. I took a screenshot of my phone to show you what im talking about but it showed up better quality then it actually is... Confusing right? Well take a look.

This is what I see, Notice how the shading or the black part behind where it says "Speak now" is really bad quality.
Thats not the only thing that has bad quality. When I receive picture messages all the pictures are really bad quality. Also the pictures set for each one my contacts are bad quality. Is this something I can fix? Please and thank you.
If you really see what we can see on the pictures, then a a fix is available.
You only have to wear your glasses
The pictures are really bad. Maybe you should take a look in the manual of the camera and search for "focus" or "autofocus"

Compare the two images. The first one is what i see on my phone when i use it. The second picture is what it should look like.
Also I took the first picture with my moms phone, i sent it to my HD2 without changing the file size. When I received it on my phone it was sent as a 4 KB file and which is a really small size. It does this to EVERY picture I receive. Yet its only when im running android (FroyoStone 3.2)
For example...

I think I worked out what you're saying OP. I just checked mine and it's exactly the same. It's probably due to the 65k colour screen as opposed to 16million colour screens most phones have these days. It's nothing to worry about.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

That's what we think. I don't think anybody has been able to prove/disprove that the HD2's screen is only capable of 65k colors; it could just be a WM limitation, and the devs have yet to 'unlock' the 16mil colors using Android. (Of course, I could be wrong, but like I said there's no proof.)
The problem is the color gradient -- it's easy to detect the low quality of the images due to the gray gradient.
Concerning the MMS sizing, I think I encountered a fix for that, but I haven't tried it. I can't help you look for it now because the sub-forum search is down.

Bug!!!!

look at the picture
Because the human eye can not see, the camera can see; so we did not find
HD2 two sensors, one of which only work only answer the phone, but when it does not stop at the android! I think this will lead to a waste of electricity.

非常感谢你!!!!!!
What he likely is saying is that the led of the proximity sensor is on all the time in android while it is only lit in WM during a phonecall. If that is true, it is a potential battery drainer. With a camera you can see the infrared light, that is why he posted the piccas. Might be a serious issue, but I did not verify.
I don't think this is an issue as such, as infrared viewed with a camera is white... In them photo's, it's a vague red. I could be wrong though. Think this might need some dev input.
To prove the point, get a camera, and TV remote, and point and press a button of the remote to the camera. You will see it glow white !
hd2 orginal have two sensors but in the android onlyone work ! why?

GSM guy is right, use a camera and point it at the sensor you will find the white light blinking while in android, where as in WINMO it doesnt, it blinks during calls only!!!
Could be a battery drainer, could be not as well !!!
lets hope hope the devs are aware of this !!!

Didn't mean to start an argument or anything, all I meant was going by his pictures, I couldn't really see much of the 'white' infrared you normally see in a camera.
But you say that it blinks, that would make more sense now - I have no way of testing it until I get home as i'm at work at the moment

It don't matter!
I know that this pictures is easy to suggest that it is false.
I just want to let developers know this BUG.
I'm home now, and i've tested it... And your right, the infrared is on in Android, and off in WM except when your making a call.
What i've forgot to test, is the infrared still on when the screens off in Android ?
I can't test at the moment as i'm currently putting a new WM ROM on, and then a new Android build on.
gsm127 - Them pictures aren't misleading. What I thought was infrared looks white through a camera, but it's not - It's actually a shade of purple (Like in your photos). Only thing is, is the infrared is on, and pulses every second. That also happens in Android !
Has anybody pointed this out to the dev's ? Do they read these sections ?
