Vodafone and HTC difference?? - myTouch 3G, Magic General

Is there any major difference between this two? Seems on the htc-website that the HTC branded should have 288 MB rom is that thrue? And how is it with the Developers edition??
And can I flash any magic rom on any of these different devicese??

a little search reveals this:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=518426

Touch or Touch viva?

Hi, i'm getting a new phone in the next few days and there's a lot i would like to know before buying.
i know Touch comes in two models (elf and elfin), and that both viva and Elfin have same rom and ram memory, what other differences are there between the Elfin and the viva and which is recommended?
If i flash an Elf model, will it become as fast and as good as a flashed elfin?
comparing all three of them, assuming they have all been flashed with the latest os (6.5 stable i believe?) are there no significant differences between them?
I wanna know as much as possible because i have the possibility to buy any of them and the difference of prices between them is very little, but the HTC Touch looks much nicer than the viva, and i'm still not sure if the touch is Elf or Elfin (64 or 128 rom and 128 or 256 ram right?)
i'm sorry for this post, i'm pretty sure someone else has already asked all this before but i searched a lot on this forum and didn't found all the answers.
Go for HTC Touch Elfin and use one of the cooked roms here in xda.
Touch Viva has the same hardware as the elfin, the difference is it only has updated WM version (6.0 in elfin vs 6.1 in viva) and has touchflo out of the box.
I recommend using miky's roms or onyx but you must hardspl your device first
Miky's Rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=541886
Onyx Rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=426540
or try this rom
Ahen's Rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=569687
Edit:
HardSPL is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=445666
use 3.10
hope it helps
thanks a lot dude... i´ll come back when i have it.
..
So this means that HTC Viva just upgraded the OS to WM 6.1 and change into a different housing?
Do they have same hardware components?
HTC Vivahas changes in hardware Tri-band vs Quad-band but thats the only hardware difference there is and also you wont notice any performance increase since its using the same slow omap850
a regular elf has 64Mb RAM/128Mb ROM
an elfin has 128Mb RAM/256Mb ROM
htc viva = elfin only cheaper
OIC. So It means elfin is ok. which do you prefer?
I purchase HTC touch because of the price and luckily it was the enhanced edition.

HTC Magic SWISSCOM...SENSE UI

Hi! I have a htc magic 1.6 (swisscom) and i would like to know is there a way to update my sense ui! I've visited htc site, entered a s/n and it sad my phone is not supported! Is there another way to update this branded magic? Or...can i install a hero ROM on it?
tnx
I used this site:
http://theunlockr.com/2009/10/15/how-to-root-a-donut-phone-android-1-6/
to root my HTC Magic 32a but it has instructions for 32b
to unlock my HTC Magic.[/QUOTE]
he was asking about unlocking, or about flashing his ROM?
From what I know, the Swisscom Magic is a 32B and will therefore never get a Sense UI upgrade. You'll have to install a custom Dream/32B ROM if you want it. Check the Dream forums.
there is an 2.0 update coming in 2nd quarter of 2010 for ''google'' magic

If you have 1GB of memory then you have a 1024 LEO, if you have 512 of memory then you have a 512 LEO.
T-Mobile USA HTC HD2 is the forum for 1024 Devices located here:

and the
HTC LEO is for 512 devices located here:

[Q] HTC ROM on TMOUS

Hello Everyone!
I have hardspl on my TMOUS, and flashed the newest (3.14) international HD2 rom on my device with customRUU.
It is much smoother and feels better than the tmo rom (and don't have to watch tmo logo). The only problem is: in hardware information it showes 576 ram size and 1024 flash size, but storage size is only ca. 200MB (instead of 600), and usable memory is limited to 448MB (ca 200MB available for user). So these are only software limitations.
Is it possible to remove these limits with overwriting files or tweaking the registry?
Thanks for the answers,
th448
The new European Rom is incompatible with the T-Mobile US HTC HD2. No registry setting can fix that.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
not incompatible
Hell, not incompatible...
Everything works correctly, i'he tried. The only problem is the less available memory because of the soft limitations...
Riiiiight, which is what he said. The international HD2 has less RAM and ROM, so its programed to show that much. Flash a regular ROM, perhaps the new 3.14 Tmo stock ROM and you should be back to normal.
That's the funny fact: in hw information it showes the correct amount of memory, just can't use all of it...
And intern rom looks smoother as is said.
That's why on HTCs download page it says in blue so that it pops out at you
Note: This update is not intended for use on T-Mobile(US) HTC HD2, and doing so may have undesired side effects.

But the point is, even though the ROM may be able to SEE it, it is not programmed to be able to access and USE it. You will have to either flash a T-Mobile US official ROM, or a custom ROM that works the the US HD2 in order to access all of the RAM and ROM available on your device.
I made a custom rom based on the international rom.
No flash limitations (600+MB free), and had to overwrite nk.exe from tmo rom, but 576MB RAM works. So it is 99.9% the new int rom.

That's the latest version of WinMo you can get anyway (in firmware that is), and have you even bothered doing ANY reading whatsoever? There are dozens of 'what is my HD2' threads, it's not at all difficult to understand. When you say 'Vodafone, AT&T' etc. those are just the carriers.
afaik there are two versions of the HD2. One EU version which has 576mb ROM/RAM and a Tmobile US version with 1024mb RAM/ROM.
EDIT: this is incorrect

EU HD2 has 512Mb ROM, and TMOUS has 576Mb RAM, i.e the only difference between the two is the ROM, not RAM.

I think the story's the same with the TMOUS one. From what I understand the radio version which originally came with the EU HD2 limited it to 448Mb RAM but the later WinMo official ROMs used the TMOUS .50 radio enabling full RAM access. The hardware in this respect was the same for both of them, it was just a software limit. However, I may well be wrong as I never had to change my radio so please correct me if this is the case, I don't want to be spreading incorrect information to people
@OP You don't need to worry about any of this by the way, it's largely for the benefit of my own understanding

You have the latest version of Windows mobile installed and Asian and European models are the same, just T-Mobile US models are different.
Your Radio is supporting 576 MB RAM and your carrier may branded the phone.
You can find out about it if it's branded to look at the Start Menu, look at the boot screen logo because its a tipycal type of customisation of the HD2. Vodafone and T-Mobile has a massive amount of customisation on the Software, if you can not find anything in Start Menu neither the boot screen is standard HTC than that means you phone is unbranded and it is not carrier dependent on software.
please help with my hd2 screen
my mobile with P/N 99HJY016-00

i've broken screen and i want to replace with a new one
should i buy for t-mobile
or another type

TMOUS needs dedicated RAM too, but available RAM depends on (for both models): SPL version, Radio version and ROM version. In wrong combinations only about 300 MB are for user, older EU HD2 had 448 MB, but with latest version of SPL. Radio and ROM it has 576 MB available just like TMOUS version.
