For MSVC, it should work out of the box. For others, I got it working under my rom since V2 by replacing some dll from HD.

Well, you pair a bluetooth headset, install MS Voice Command (I have version 1.6.19971). Then you restart, go to voice command and enable it (if not already enabled!), check what and how you want the program to behave.
You can select a hard button on the phone (left or right) to engage the program.
Then, when you press the activate/voice/answer button on your headset the voice dial turns on. There you can either DIAL a number by saying the number, or, CALL a person in your phone book by saying that name.
Have fun!

michaelthemage, you're saying that if you bind MSVC to a random HW button, the headset button on the BT headset will start MSVC?
Also, I've tried MSVC myself, although I liked the basic functionality (it's neat!), it drained my battery like crazy (4x normal discharge) and it lacks customizable functionality (e.g. creating a new voice command and linking it to an application.)

Voice Command Activation via Bluetooth headset (DONE!)

Awe Yeah!! I am now able to activate Microsoft Voice Command 1.5 via a Bluetooth headset on the imate KJAM! I press the talk button on my Bluespoon AX2, audio transfers to the headset, Voice Command starts, I say something... Voice command does it, and I can hear it in the headset. Press the talk button again and the audio is transferred back to the device. If I press it once to initiate Voice Command that makes a call, I have to press the talk button once to end the call and again to end the audio gateway.
Here's how you do it:
In the Windows folder there's a file called sddialer.exe. This is the Voice Tags program currently activated by a Bluetooth button press. All you do is copy voicecmd.exe to a temporary folder, rename it to sddialer.exe and copy it to the Windows folder overwritting the original. You might want to back-up the original sddialer.exe just in case.
After there, all is well and Voice Command functions as above!
WOo Hoo!!!
UPDATE: An easier way is to use a registry editor and go to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/OEM/VoiceCommand/
..Then change the path value to:
\Program Files\Voice Command\voicecmd.exe
If you don't want to waste space, you can also change the registry to point to the voicecmd.exe instead of the sddialer.exe.
Will this be possible on the blue angel running wm5??

Ah, did you find the registry entry for that? I bet some one could make a quick program that changes that to launch anything the user chooses.
Nevermind, here it is: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/OEM/VoiceCommand/
..Just change the path value to:
\Program Files\VoiceCommand\voicecmd.exe

Thanks... Works perfectly. I know it wasnt possible in the wm2003se, but can we get the audio to route throught the headset?? The K-Jam can do it.
Bluetooth voice dialling only works with the MS bt stack at the moment, not the Widcomm stack on the IIi and BA running WM2003SE
Looks like bluetooth voice dialing doesn't wake up a WM5 device either.

I dont knw what I have done, but my bluetooth doesnt disconnect when I press the power button. Using buzz's patch(installed first), pocket zen phone beta (installed second) and the voice dialler cab provided (installed third, using with sddialer).
Can someone confirm this??
Did anyone try this? Dunno if it would help...

From my list of JAM tweaks, don't know if they fixed this but I always ended up changing this setting on my JAM to make sure my bluetooth was alive during a conversation. If you ever have trouble with bt timing out, try:
HKey_Current_User\Control Panel\Phone
Change the Sleep key from a 1 to 0.
As always, have a backup.

What setting did you have for bluetooth in PZP? Did you have the BT set to connectable or activate on call? Try setting it as connectable and see if that keeps BT up.
Not to go OT, but is "bluetooth audio" still NOT possible with the K-Jam/MS stack? (I listen to podcast/talk - so thru a BT headset is all I want/need) I would pay good money to somehow replace the current stack w/Broadcomm stack I had on my HP unit THREE YEARS AGO! Other work arounds out there? Thanks!

Yes, pressing the voice dialing button on a Bluetooth headset opens an audio gateway and launches the application specified in the registry. If the application specified does not automatically close the audio gateway (Voice Speed dial does, MS Voice Command does not), then the audio gateway remains open and you can hear whatever your Pocket PC is playing through the Bluetooth Headset. Pressing the voice dial button on the Bluetooth headset again in this case closes the audio gateway and transfers audio back to the Pocket PC.
Ya, I hear for a second but then the voice command closes again _ I can't keep it open - can you? How?
i am not abble to overwritting the original ssdialer.exe it says it is in use.

I just tried to do what you said with my old JAM & it didn't work is that because it's ppc '03? I'm a nervous-nelly when it comes to replacing ROM in these devices, but I do it for the BT audio...soooo question is : how safe/risky is replacing the VSD with VC?

Yes, it doesn't work on the old JAM. I've never had problems editing the registry, but if you do happen to screw things up, you can usually just change the registry back. If worse comes to worse, you can do a hard reset.

Change Bluetooth button from Cyberon to Microsoft?

OK, I thought I had this working, but obviously I wasn't paying attention, and it's not
I have the Cyberon Voice Dial app installed, and that works when I press the button on my headset, but I would like it to use the Micrsoft Voice Command 1.6 instead.
I have tried changing the following key, but it does nothing.
From: HKLM\Software\OEM\VoiceCommand\Path=\Windows\SDDialler.exe
To: HKLM\Software\OEM\VoiceCommand\Path=\Windows\VoiceCmd.exe
This registry change was all I could find any info on. I'm guessing something else needs to be done though
Any ideas?
TIA

Hello All:
I can't seem to get the phone notifications (Phone Calls Only) to my headset. Email notifications, Activating Voice Command from headset works.
First 2 seconds of the phone call notifications comes to the headset but the rest comes from the Universal's mic.
Is there any workaround on this?
I'm using one of the many Crossbow ROMs.
In my wizard everything works the way it is supposed to be.

Thanks Mrs D! Works awesomely well, although I wish there was a way for it to not repeat the voice tag after you have said it, but to just run the program/dial the contact straight away.

MS Voice Command
Guys,
I just came across this. I tried the Cyberon version, but i don't like its accuracy and i cant assign a key to activate it.
Cyberon Voice Commander v2.5.1 build 709141 - thread Mod Edit - Warez link removed
Previous versions of MSVC did not work on my TP2, but this one does. The install automatically assigns itself to the press(Hold) of my dial button and replaces the CommManager button assignment. Like its predecessors, it works flawlessly for me.

Can you make a voice call over Bth (by pushing the voice call button on the bth headset, of course ! ) with this version ?
How do you get MS Voice Command to work? I downloaded /installed the cabs, i see the Voice Command icon on my phone, but I dont understand how it all works. Can someone explain to me how to get this rolling ? Thanks.
How do you get MS Voice Command to work......?
It is working well on my TP2.
Install and probably best to soft reset.
Once in, go to All Settings, the VC icon is in the Personal tab.
Set the options and Notifications to what you want.
Then go to Buttons (same tab) and make sure it is assigned to the Send Key.
Done...!
To use, press (and hold) the Send (L/H bottom key) till it makes a sound, then speak, a contact, number, app to open etc.
Works really well, especially announcing appointments.
One problem is that it conflicts with SRS WOW HD - no matter really as this audio app doesn't seem to work on the TP2 anyway - it makes your device not wake up from sleep, buggered if i know why (wish it worked!)
Hope this helps - party on!
Jabberoo
works fine - thx for this cool reference!
I love VC!! Thanks for the direction on it!! awesome to have on this phone.
ps, sometimes the lady catches me by surprise and comes outta nowhere to tell me something. kinda scary!
Sorry but the voice dialer (cyberon) dont work with my JAWBONE II
Does anyone have Cyberon or Voice Commander working with the button on their bluetooth headset? Cyberon worked fine with my headset on my TyTn II but won't work with either programme on my TP2. Is there a registry tweak required to make this functional?

It's a problem caused by the change in Bluetooth stack that HTC made with this phone, I've not seen a working fix yet, I suspect we'll see something once the cooked ROMs start appearing.

Voice dialing

Voice dialing on the LEO???
i cant find it...
did thy not put that on the phone?
No voice dialing over bluetooth?
Are we in 2001?
Yes what a pain!
Tried to get 'Tellme' - no luck there.
Also downloaded 2 Voice Command progs - didn't work or install correctly.
Anyone found an alternative?
Don't worry. This seems to be disappearing from all top spec phones. Nokia's soon to be launched top-of-the line N900 doesn't come with voice dialing either. I had that down as one of the items that would make me go for the HD2. No worries, then.

msvc
i have installed voice command version 1.6.19209
i got an error message on the install but everything seems to work fine except when i activate a voice call through headset (plantronics voyager pro bluetooth)
it announces through the phone not the headset also incoming calls announce through phone not headset. once the call is connected it works fine on headset. and voice command accepts voice commands on the phone after long hold on headset button. anyone get this to announce over their bluetooth headset please let us know how you did it or if there is another version out there please post a link
thanks all
So...finally got my HD2...easiest machine to set up....looks great...works great....but for Voice Command. Installed the cab, got an error message just like getwet said but otherwise indicated a correct install...but I can't get it to work. Ideas?
maybe i have a fix partial
so i just installed vc version1.6.21725(googled vc and version no. download and found it) overtop of my other version in previous post didn't work with clean install of newer version so reinstalled 1st version then installed newer version
be sure to soft reset after each install then went to settings/menu/all settings/bluetooth/settings tab with gears on it/advanced/audio/put a checkmark in "play system sounds on remote handsfree device" /soft reset and guess what it now works i receive info on my headset it still dosn't announce incoming calls but i can make a handsfree call and hear the response in my headset
hummmm where in VC do i add voice commands to a contact.
the only thing i can find is under: setttings/other/voice command and in there its just settings, not the program and its features

Voice Dial Removed! WTF?

Why in Gods name do they remove Voice Dialing? Thats like removing sms availability. Anyway to install this back?
I agree voice dialing is a core function for all "Smart" phones, look how long iPhone users had to beg to get it, but at least they have it now. The irony is that HTC has had and included voice dialing in almost all there phones for two years or more now and this wonderful phone is missing it.
I for one really need it, not want, need it and did not realize it did not come included and from reading the forums there are no good compatible software packages that reliably work (for voice dialing over bluetooth devices).
I specifically need a.) voice dialing and b.) voice dialing over bluetooth support.
HTC has let a lot of users down here, there are a half a dozen posts in this forum already concerning the lack of voice and reliable voice dialing over bluetooth. I recommend you put in a support ticket to add this functionality to the phone, they could add it via a new ROM or software update if enough people request it!
Voice dialing
I seriously doubt that enough people will request this as most people would just get it themselves, and the one of their choice.

I disagree, on their flagship phone I believe they will listen to a flood of requests for this functionality. Even Apple does that much, HTC is a far more focused company and this would not be hard to support or add.
One other problem is that there are currently no products that run properly on the HD2 from 3rd parties, at least not that I have found. That includes Microsoft's Voice Commander, which is outdated for starters.
Put in a support request folks, let's get the ball rolling. I have already done so and the local rep did say he will bring it to the table during their next conference call.

Yes mate - this works with most shortcuts too!
With file explorer, go to \Windows\Start Menu\Programs and copy the voice dialer shortcut. Go back a couple of levels to the \Windows folder and paste it there. Locate the shortcut (should be at the very bottom of the file list) and rename it to long_send
That shortcut gets executed when you hold the call send button, and like I said, you can do it with most shortcuts.
Works for me
HTC's response
QUOTE=PhoTonic;5094757]Why in Gods name do they remove Voice Dialing? Thats like removing sms availability. Anyway to install this back?[/QUOTE]
Yeah,
I logged a support call with them, here's their response:
"With regards to voice recognition software, microsoft havn't updated the core program for this as is only compatible with windows mobile 6.0, until this happens there is no voice recognition software."
Feaking ridiculous, How can you have a high end phone with no voicedial features. I know that users at xda will find a way around the lack of voice speed dial, however for HTC to have left it out of the official ROM is unacceptable!
thanks pals, i found another solution - a patch as a cab that enabled the long press. now only the BT activation is left out but found a version that claims to do it...

Voice Speed Dialing - final all over working solution
ok - as promissed - this is a full working solution:
works with a long press call button
works with BT (!!!)
you can even backup and restore voice tags so no need to re-record if you format etc
fully tested and i am glad as this is the most critical app i use - phone and voice dialing as i spend lots of time in the car
It doesnt work for me with my bt-headset.
I cannot even record the voice with it. When I try to, the number is being called.
Thanks a lot for posting this cab. After installing it I added some voice tags but could not get the BT headset to activate the app. I then uninstalled Microsoft Voice Commander (which has never worked for me on the HD2) and did a soft reset. Voice tags had gone so recorded new ones. This app now works with my BT headset.

Work like a charm Thanks a lot!
Cool, not being near my phone at the moment...I have some quick questions:
1. Does the long press to the call button have anything assigned to it by default already?
2. Can you still use voice activated dialing through a bluetooth headset without first running Cyberon or this app?
3. Do you have to install the Cyberon app to main memory or can you install it to your SD card instead to save overhead?
4. I see there are two versions of the Cyberon app, Voice Dialer and Voice Commander...It looks like you don't have to make voice tags for commander and it controls more than just calling contacts out of the box, while voice dialer simply creates a voice tag and dials that contact...Am I right? Have you guys used both of these, which do you prefer?
5. I just want to confirm, you can use a bluetooth headset and push the voice button and speak a voice tag and that will automatically activate and call that contact correct? This is what I need while in the car, not just picking up a call via a bluetooth device!
6. Zeevg...That second cab you uploaded, CVSD...What exactly is that? Is that just a newer version of Cyber that allows you to map a long key to voice dialing functionality or do I still need to install the first cab posted here, then install that one as well? It appears that this file is a better working copy to replace the original one uploaded here. If so does it automatically map the long key to the call button or do you assign it within the Cyber interface?
Thanks!

works with a long press call button
works with BT (!!!)
you can even backup and restore voice tags so no need to re-record if you format etc
fully tested and i am glad as this is the most critical app i use - phone and voice dialing as i spend lots of time in the car

Cool, not being near my phone at the moment...I have some quick questions:
1. Does the long press to the call button have anything assigned to it by default already?
ZeevG> when you get the HD2 new there is nothing there and you can't even assign a button/app to it as it is blocked.
2. Can you still use voice activated dialing through a bluetooth headset without first running Cyberon or this app?
ZeevG> no. you must install this app first to enable voice dialing / long press / BT - no worries as you did not have anything else assigned to this button before. this can also launce apps not just dialing you can assign a voice tag to launce any app installed on your device
3. Do you have to install the Cyberon app to main memory or can you install it to your SD card instead to save overhead?
ZeevG> this version allows you to select - i installed it to Storage Card. all other versions forces installation to main memory
ZeevG> these are two different apps... i use Voice Dialing...
5. I just want to confirm, you can use a bluetooth headset and push the voice button and speak a voice tag and that will automatically activate and call that contact correct? This is what I need while in the car, not just picking up a call via a bluetooth device!
ZeevG> yes mate - this is EXACTLY what i meant. i use it for all my calls. in HD2 you can even select is the voice respond from the device will go to the BT or be sound from speaker
ZeevG> the seconf post CVSD... is the solved app for all so no need for anything else, just throw it all away and install this one. this is NOT the latest version it is one before latest but no real diff... other than it works for all options
Thanks!
