Voice Command Activation via Bluetooth headset (DONE!) - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

Awe Yeah!! I am now able to activate Microsoft Voice Command 1.5 via a Bluetooth headset on the imate KJAM! I press the talk button on my Bluespoon AX2, audio transfers to the headset, Voice Command starts, I say something... Voice command does it, and I can hear it in the headset. Press the talk button again and the audio is transferred back to the device. If I press it once to initiate Voice Command that makes a call, I have to press the talk button once to end the call and again to end the audio gateway.
Here's how you do it:
In the Windows folder there's a file called sddialer.exe. This is the Voice Tags program currently activated by a Bluetooth button press. All you do is copy voicecmd.exe to a temporary folder, rename it to sddialer.exe and copy it to the Windows folder overwritting the original. You might want to back-up the original sddialer.exe just in case.
After there, all is well and Voice Command functions as above!
WOo Hoo!!!
UPDATE: An easier way is to use a registry editor and go to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/OEM/VoiceCommand/
..Then change the path value to:
\Program Files\Voice Command\voicecmd.exe

If you don't want to waste space, you can also change the registry to point to the voicecmd.exe instead of the sddialer.exe.

Will this be possible on the blue angel running wm5??

Ah, did you find the registry entry for that? I bet some one could make a quick program that changes that to launch anything the user chooses.
Nevermind, here it is: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/OEM/VoiceCommand/
..Just change the path value to:
\Program Files\VoiceCommand\voicecmd.exe

Thanks... Works perfectly. I know it wasnt possible in the wm2003se, but can we get the audio to route throught the headset?? The K-Jam can do it.

Bluetooth voice dialling only works with the MS bt stack at the moment, not the Widcomm stack on the IIi and BA running WM2003SE

Looks like bluetooth voice dialing doesn't wake up a WM5 device either.

I dont knw what I have done, but my bluetooth doesnt disconnect when I press the power button. Using buzz's patch(installed first), pocket zen phone beta (installed second) and the voice dialler cab provided (installed third, using with sddialer).
Can someone confirm this??

Did anyone try this? Dunno if it would help...

From my list of JAM tweaks, don't know if they fixed this but I always ended up changing this setting on my JAM to make sure my bluetooth was alive during a conversation. If you ever have trouble with bt timing out, try:
HKey_Current_User\Control Panel\Phone
Change the Sleep key from a 1 to 0.
As always, have a backup.

What setting did you have for bluetooth in PZP? Did you have the BT set to connectable or activate on call? Try setting it as connectable and see if that keeps BT up.

Not to go OT, but is "bluetooth audio" still NOT possible with the K-Jam/MS stack? (I listen to podcast/talk - so thru a BT headset is all I want/need) I would pay good money to somehow replace the current stack w/Broadcomm stack I had on my HP unit THREE YEARS AGO! Other work arounds out there? Thanks!

Yes, pressing the voice dialing button on a Bluetooth headset opens an audio gateway and launches the application specified in the registry. If the application specified does not automatically close the audio gateway (Voice Speed dial does, MS Voice Command does not), then the audio gateway remains open and you can hear whatever your Pocket PC is playing through the Bluetooth Headset. Pressing the voice dial button on the Bluetooth headset again in this case closes the audio gateway and transfers audio back to the Pocket PC.

Ya, I hear for a second but then the voice command closes again _ I can't keep it open - can you? How?

i am not abble to overwritting the original ssdialer.exe it says it is in use.

I just tried to do what you said with my old JAM & it didn't work is that because it's ppc '03? I'm a nervous-nelly when it comes to replacing ROM in these devices, but I do it for the BT audio...soooo question is : how safe/risky is replacing the VSD with VC?

Yes, it doesn't work on the old JAM. I've never had problems editing the registry, but if you do happen to screw things up, you can usually just change the registry back. If worse comes to worse, you can do a hard reset.

what does voice command do
There is one major difference between voice dial and voice command.
Voice dial requires you to record your voice saying a keyname attached to a contact entry. The memory on the phone restricts how many of these sound files you can have recorded.
With voice command teh software 'reads' every entry in your phone and translates it. It also reads your voice saying the name and matches it to the contact. Much more vrsatile. I bought mine for about £25 - best thing to add to the phone.
Also VC allows you to ask several pertinent questions to the phone:
What appointiments sdo I have tomorrow?
What is my next appointment?
What is the date?
What is the battery level?
It also announces calls as they come in - your phone says - 'Incoming call from Steven Williams'
amazing software - you wont look back one you have this - great for the car and great for showing off the phone to the office!

I was getting very frustrated trying to get this 40.00 program to work with my Tekkeon ET3000. Then I noticed one thing. In the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\VoiceCommand\Path, where you change the default value to \Program Files\Voice Command\VoiceCMD.exe, I forgot to put a space between Voice and Command. Put the space in there and it works like a champ. Still not sure its worth 40.00, but I am liking it alot more right now.

Change Bluetooth button from Cyberon to Microsoft?

OK, I thought I had this working, but obviously I wasn't paying attention, and it's not
I have the Cyberon Voice Dial app installed, and that works when I press the button on my headset, but I would like it to use the Micrsoft Voice Command 1.6 instead.
I have tried changing the following key, but it does nothing.
From: HKLM\Software\OEM\VoiceCommand\Path=\Windows\SDDialler.exe
To: HKLM\Software\OEM\VoiceCommand\Path=\Windows\VoiceCmd.exe
This registry change was all I could find any info on. I'm guessing something else needs to be done though
Any ideas?
TIA

Hello All:
I can't seem to get the phone notifications (Phone Calls Only) to my headset. Email notifications, Activating Voice Command from headset works.
First 2 seconds of the phone call notifications comes to the headset but the rest comes from the Universal's mic.
Is there any workaround on this?
I'm using one of the many Crossbow ROMs.
In my wizard everything works the way it is supposed to be.

Search for btaudio.exe, a small program that can toggle all sound to your bluetooth on/off OR btIO, which gives a tray icon with a pop-up menu to set that and other BT options.
for me the best thing to do is change
hklm\software\oem\voicecommand\voiceCmdDuration = 99999
then to toggle this feature on and off change
same place\launchApEnable
1 for on and 0 for off
if its off then it will send audio to your headset

Incorrect...if I understood you right. I just tested this and my Voice Command works perfectly with or without BTAudio enabled/disabled. I just turned on my BTAudio and was able to activate Voice Command from my headset without issues. Maybe different headsets have different issues. Thank goodness my Jawbone works as expected.

Ah, that's where the mix up is. I'm using Microsoft Voice Command 1.6. Different from Voice Dial which comes with the phone. I found it to be a much better solution for me. Some people with heavy accents prefer the built in voice dialer over Microsoft Voice Command because it's easier to use for them as Voice Command won't understand the spoken commands very accurately. Now I see why it's different for you than mine. We were talking about two different components.

For MSVC, it should work out of the box. For others, I got it working under my rom since V2 by replacing some dll from HD.
Well, you pair a bluetooth headset, install MS Voice Command (I have version 1.6.19971). Then you restart, go to voice command and enable it (if not already enabled!), check what and how you want the program to behave.
You can select a hard button on the phone (left or right) to engage the program.
Then, when you press the activate/voice/answer button on your headset the voice dial turns on. There you can either DIAL a number by saying the number, or, CALL a person in your phone book by saying that name.
Have fun!
michaelthemage, you're saying that if you bind MSVC to a random HW button, the headset button on the BT headset will start MSVC?
Also, I've tried MSVC myself, although I liked the basic functionality (it's neat!), it drained my battery like crazy (4x normal discharge) and it lacks customizable functionality (e.g. creating a new voice command and linking it to an application.)

Yes what a pain!

Don't worry. This seems to be disappearing from all top spec phones. Nokia's soon to be launched top-of-the line N900 doesn't come with voice dialing either. I had that down as one of the items that would make me go for the HD2. No worries, then.

i got an error message on the install but everything seems to work fine except when i activate a voice call through headset (plantronics voyager pro bluetooth)
it announces through the phone not the headset also incoming calls announce through phone not headset. once the call is connected it works fine on headset. and voice command accepts voice commands on the phone after long hold on headset button. anyone get this to announce over their bluetooth headset please let us know how you did it or if there is another version out there please post a link
thanks all
So...finally got my HD2...easiest machine to set up....looks great...works great....but for Voice Command. Installed the cab, got an error message just like getwet said but otherwise indicated a correct install...but I can't get it to work. Ideas?
maybe i have a fix partial
so i just installed vc version1.6.21725(googled vc and version no. download and found it) overtop of my other version in previous post didn't work with clean install of newer version so reinstalled 1st version then installed newer version
be sure to soft reset after each install then went to settings/menu/all settings/bluetooth/settings tab with gears on it/advanced/audio/put a checkmark in "play system sounds on remote handsfree device" /soft reset and guess what it now works i receive info on my headset it still dosn't announce incoming calls but i can make a handsfree call and hear the response in my headset
hummmm where in VC do i add voice commands to a contact.
the only thing i can find is under: setttings/other/voice command and in there its just settings, not the program and its features
