Dead X1 - XPERIA X1 General

Hi all,
My X1 has died. It will no longer charge. I was on holiday when I tried to charge it. Left it for 1 hour and the red flash on the side still happened. Also, The power light glowed red, never seen that before.
My issue is that the phone was useless to me while on holiday so I put it in the glove box of the car. When I took it out the screen is scratched.
I bought it from the CPW. Should I send it to CPW or Sony Ericsson? I am worried they will think I broke the phone with the scratch.
Any advise please?
Thanks.

use search this issue has been resolved many times in many threads

Hello,
It should charge eventually, if not send it for repair!
Mine did the same and it turned out I had to send it for repair.
Do the repair via Sony Ericsson - Sneakily I had even opened mine beforehand to see if it was anything I could repair and they didn't even notice that (even though I had cracked some plastic), so I doubt they will care about a scratch.

That is the response I was looking for. I did not want to send to the CPW as they are wank. Never had any experience with Sony Ericcson. Do they repair or replace?

hey
hey.. i may not be any help but just leave it to charg for a long time and its should regain life... i had the same problem with the red lights and panicd like f**k but after serching here on xda, and with people having simlar problems i found that the main option was to leve it to charge for a long time.....so i just left my phone on charge for almost full day and found that it had regained life... never will i run it dry ever again lol.
again sorry if it was no help!

ya.. try charging for sometime first

are you using the original SE wall charger? if not that´s you problem, just leave it charging with the original one. The red light under de power buttons means there´s a battery (power) error, usually because you are using a cheap charger. If not...just send it to repair. Use the search button there is a whole thread about it, i had the same problema, but it was solved usinf the SE charger.

My is Wizard Dead. Please help

I got a used wizard today,it is a few weeks old I also got a cradle with it.
I pluged in the cradle to the USB port and the charger to power, after playing with it for 1-2 hours I placed the wizard on the cradle to charge and after a few mins i noticed that it was over heating. I removed it from the cradle right away and noticed that the battery was droping 1% every minute or so. After it was down to 27% i removed the charger and left only the usb connection and placed the wizard on the cradle again. it was charging fine, when it was up to 90% removed it from the cradle and again was droping fast.
When it was down to around 25-30% of the battery I did a soft reset and since then I can never get it to start again also the red charging light does not show.
What the heck is wrong with it? I also get a light burning smell from the bottom of the wizard where the connector is located.
Any help?
I need your lights guys.
Don't like the sound of the light burning smell, that sounds like an electrical fault. It looks like your battery has died and the wizard battery setup is well known to do this. You need to plug it into the official mains charger (not the usb one) as this has an output of 1A, enough to kick start the wizard battery into life and start the charging. You need to wait a short while though before the light comes on. If this fails try to get a new battery and try that. Any more light burning smells and it needs to go back to the supplier.
I would suggest that you send it back to replace/repair. The rapid dropping of the battery power suggest that it is using power somewhere (illegally). I've heard cases of battery caught on fire, etc. and I won't suggest you to use it anymore until you sort out the 'burning' smell.
First of all thanks for your replys.
I pluged the charger on it and the red charging light came on after a while.
charged for over 6 hours and its still red? I think after been charged should change to green? right?
anyways after all that still doesnt want to turn on. I got it to start a couple of times but only to the point that shows the splash screen with the rom numbers and then it turns back off.
Should I give it a smash across the room on the wall? done that with some other things and worked just kiding.
Forgot to add that up to the point when i did the soft reset the device was working fine except the charge drop. Soft reset was done while it was working ( turned on)..... if thats any help.

That ain't gonna do jack sh1t to it. If it can't start to get into bootloader, it can't flash....and it's not a flash issue.
Usually the red light means power but not charging - happens to my qtek 9100 when I let it get too flat and I have to remove and insert the battery while the mains adaptor is attached - others have to 'jump start' the battery by directly connecting to a PSU - I wouldn't do this with yours.
From what you have said it sounds like a short somewhere. Any signs of water damage? Warranty? What Wizard do you have and what country are you in?
Richard
I got the wiza 200 O2 xda mini S from a guy in UK from ebay. The idiot sold me a cradle for it with an adaptor that says 12V on it (Like an idiot that I am i just noticed that) but then again how am I supposed to think that he gave me an adaptor that its not made for it when it says on the back of it "for Imate - Kjam". Do you guys think thats what burned the **** out of the unit ?
dont forget that some times turns on shows the ROMS numbers and turns off.
No water damage... I think its on warranty... I live in Greece.
Might not be the cradle - it could be it steps down internally to 5v. Use a meter and check what it outputs to the phone. Warranty with XDA's are 2 years to the *original* purchaser. As they are only supplied with an airtime agreement then that isn't you.
Richard
have you tried changing batteries to a new one? Seriously, thats the easiest thing you could do right now and you could actually get results.
Ok this is what I did.
Removed the baterry from the device,
got a 12V 1 Amp power supply that I had lying around and give it a few shots connecting it to the battery giving it an electro shock.
(If you're going to try this be very carefull.<<<< DONT LEAVE the power supply connected to the battery>>>> just give it a few shots 1 second on and off.
That was it.
It started working, device turned on and now its charging (I think) yellow light is on.
I'm going to leave it on for a few hours and see what happens.
Wish me good luck. I'll let you know soon.
ok... this is what happend.
Battery is drained and its not charging due to a blown fust on the main board.
I open the phone and placed and solder a little wire over the fuse.
Still does not charge. ^%$#%$#$^%$*
Before I replaced the fuse or should i say short it the yellow light would come on for a few min and then red again. Now when I charge the battery with another external power supply the pda comes on for a few mins and then dies again. ( no charging light whatsoever).
Does anyone know where to get a mainboard for it and about how much it costs?
Asking for help again.

Hey man, sorry to hear about that.
The best you can do is to claim your money from ebay.
You probably killed it when you pluged in the 12V PSU. That's 230% of the normal Volts! Otherwise sell it for parts.
I'm in the process of claiming the money back from the IDIOT that sold it to me.
Lets see if that part of Ebay works as good.

Doubt it. Did you ask the seller for help before opening the phone and voiding the original warranty on the device?

Not a good idea IMO as now the blame is on you as previously he may have been able to get warranty service from the original vendor.
Richard
I did ask.
He is not the original buyer.
what was I suposed to do.... track back 2-3 buyers to find the original... send it to him so he can have it repaired? Anyway it was out of warranty because of the burned fuse that says that some other charger was used with it.
I had a similar thing happen but fortunately not as bad as yours. Twice now my battery has mysteriously drained completely. The last time when I tried to turn the unit on, it flashed the boot screen for a couple of seconds then poof, no more juice. When I plugged it into the USB port, nothing, no lights, no charge, no recognition from Activesync, I thought the unit was fried. I use Tmobile and got to admit they did send me a replacement fairly quickly. Before I packed up my unit I thought maybe I should plug it in using the wall charger and presto, it came on and is working fine. I have no idea what causes this but do know that if the battery is completely discharged the USB port can not over come this to put a charge on.
Same thing happened to me, kind of strange though. The charge was perhaps 70% to the best of my knowledge. I flashed it with Mr. Clean ROM and booted it up.. it came in fine into WM5, then it started the installation of the 3 progs or whatever comes with Mr. Clean.. after the second finished the unit just died *poff*. Screen blank, no responce to power buttons or any other buttons for that matter.
I've tried taking out the battery for different intervals of time, no luck. I've tried using the AC charger, no luck. No lights, sounds, telepathy or matrix ****.. it just lies there like a dummy phone.. hmm what to do. Bought it from a guy in UK (im in sweden) on eBay, don't think I will have much luck there.. even though it's brand new...
Any thouhgts?
I have had this problem - I bought a replacement battery and all is now fine. Another thread in this group states that the battery cannot charge without the OS up - so if the battery is completely discharged then it is impossible to charge through the phone. The only solution seems to be somehow to charge the battery directly - as appears to have been done earlier in this thread.
Chris
p.s. if anyone knows of another way to do it I'd be interested to hear as I'd like to revive my old battery and keep it as a spare

MDA(usa) unable to charge battery-I am using original charger

MDA got dropped (by a friend trying to be funny) about 18inches onto tile floor and into a small puddle. Caused small water spash into phone. Phone didn't work for 18hrs then T-Mobile store plugged in and it worked. Within 5 days the battery was fully dead 20 minutes after a supposedly full charge. I believe that the phone has not been charging the battery at all. --no lite comes on at all. At first a red light would come on but now nothing (same, new, original charger)I am willing to open phone to look for loose connection or do whatever else it takes. --just need to know how to proceed. Any help other than telling me to charge with original charger will be appreciated. I have read many threads here and none seem to mention this exact issue
charging phone
I have read in this forums a way to jump start the battery by using a 9v battery. Just do a search and hopefully it helps you.
Clem
the battery is not the issue
I am looking for someone who has taken apart the MDA to address this issue. I have a new battery, and charger and I think the phone has a loose connection, but I am a bit nervous to take apart the phone--I'm not as experienced as all the peeps on this forum
I have the Service Manual I can send it to you if interested.
I'm very interested in how to do this also since my wife has done almost the exact same thing to here MDA and now it won't charge. She also broke the button on top to power on/off the phone. Is there a replacement part I can purchase for this?

Dropped my hermes, won't power on. Red light went attached to USB

Ok so I was so happy that I finally got XDA live .2 running on my 1.5 month old Hermes. This site has helped me to no end. Being completely new to the Windows mobile platform, I've made it a point to check the forums here every day and read up on issues/tricks & tips. My utmost respect to the folks here at XDA-Developers. In fact I just contributed some money I was so thrilled. I never had to post a question before.
Short lived :-(
Due to my own stupidity. I dropped my Hermes on the carpeted floor in my office. Now it wasn't a huge hit to the unit. It fell 2.5 feet and it was carpet.
I picked it up and hit the power key (It was sleeping before I dropped it) but no joy. I yanked the battery, waited a minute, replaced it. No Joy.. I've tried lots of stuff
1) With battery in place, soft reset
2) Without battery in place and attached to power.
3) removed battery, waited an hour, replaced battery. No power on. Re-attached power.. No power on.
So long story short, I can't power it up. I get a red light when attached to power with or without battery in place.
I am screwed? I'll cry! I have removed the sim-lock and I am Super CID on the phone. It's over a month old from Cingluar. Do I have any hope of getting it fixed/replaced/someone here suggesting a fix?
Any help appreciated. I saw a post on the red light when charging but nothing so far has helped.
I know they are many genius' here. I'll donate more to this awesome site regardless of getting this fixed. I just hope I don't have to fork out another $500 for a new unit.
What we don't know in your case is whether dropping the device has just triggered the infuriating Red LED issue that will come good or whether more serious damage has occurred.
You say you read a post re this and I assume it was this one?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1077622&postcount=6
The one thing I did not see that you tried is having charger plugged in with battery out and whilst remaining connected inserting the battery. Wait several seconds, hopefully LED changes to amber. However, though frustrating it may be worth repeating this kind of thing repeatedly until you are bored to tears! I say this because some folks find that it just seems to start eventually but they've tried so many things they cannot pin down what exactly the solution was.
If it's more serious - which I rather doubt (only 2.5ft to a carpeted floor) then you could try a disassembly and reconstruction. (I'm assuming you do not have warranty) I suggest this as the first time I got this, this is what I did and on re-assembly - hey presto it worked. Did not actually do anything but perhaps it helped with a loose connection or helped discharge the circuits and reset charging function??
Mike
Hi,
had the same issue! No function, only red light - with/without/new power plug, accu - only red light.
My device only layed on my table at home - overnight crash effect...
I had to bring in the device to service...
Now i have a new one with higher s/n and all is good again...
best
bax
Would having a second, fully charged battery help?
Sincerely,
Steve
It's going back to cingular.
Thanks for all the advice/help. Nothing seemed to work at all. Different battery, attching to power and inserting the abttery afterwards. However, I now can boot trhe unit, but I have to squeeze the sides of the unit (Or jam a piece os plastice bettwen the slide out keyboard) and the unit boots. Not very practical.
I contacted Cingular and a replacement is on the way. I put back on the original ROM that it shipped with and wiped everything else. I am Super CID, does this void my warranty? Will they even care? The issues is definietly HW so I hope they just can't power it up when they recieve it back. I'll play dumb anyway if they ask!
Now it's just trying to survive the next few days with either my SE P900 or My S710 (Sniff... sniff.. I want my Hermes back already)
Thanks again to all who posted advice.

Also does any one know why does this happen firstly.
Is it because the processor just goes to DEEP SLEEP below 50MHz or there is a problem with IPL or some other stuipid thing
Mine is a G4.and had last installed the PDAViet Touch Flo v5
Any one els who can advice me on this.
Any one had the same error earlier!!
Well you might as well try with other battery. If the old one is not charging it might be dead... Have you tried measuring it?

Rip-prophet??
I just had a word with a service guy where I had given it for repairs!!
He informed me the problem has got notihng to do with the software aspect.
He confirmed its a hardware [email protected]@
Can any one recommed me where can I get the phone repaired in India>>Mumbai..
I Think I will buy a CHEAP nokia now as I dont have enough money to spend again on a expensive phone like this one!!
I feel that the processor has gone in a deep sleep any ways to retrive it to 195Mhz...
Or is it the problem with the IPL/SPL
pls HELP and pray for My PROPHET for its LONG LIFE
Its been almost 15days now and still my neo is not working..
The repaires guy told me that may be something is gone wrong mainly because I had dropped the phone from my hand some 5~10days back before it went DEAD.
Can u guys tell me how manny of u have LOST their PDA phone s after it failed to repair..with the reason for the failure like short circuit or just like mine!!
Can any one help me with the service manual for prophet
I dont know how true is this ...
What if i m not able to get it repaired at all here in Mumbai>>INDIA..
Any one can help me with the board of neo or some solution in repairs..
I feel that the PDA manufacturers must atleast make the phones RIGID or shock proof just like nokia..so it can take some jerk!!and we dont have to LOOSE our valuable phones..
I m afraid but I dont think I shall ever buy a PDA phone again...mainly because its too much expensive for their limited LIFE SPAN just like in my case..
Hey Mate,
When I first got my prophet, it did the same thing, no lights, nothing. I had the battery replaced with an NON-OFFICIAL prophet battery (i.e, A cheap unbranded one), and it went - it's running perfectly now too with WM6

pozdrav iz "susjednog" zg-a futogu...
anyone figuired this out? my phone is dead too, i lost my charger a few days ago and i've been charging it with my laptop, until a few days where it ran out of juice, when i plugged it back in, it never turned out, im tried leavign it plugged in for 24 hrs, tried other adapters, kept the battery out..etc
nothingg!! Helpppp

XDA Trion no life at all (had red light)

Well, this all started with a red light on the phone, battery was in and it just refused to charge or do anything sensible.
Tried a few bits inc the soft reset just in case, pushing battery in while charger attached etc and no joy. As it sits at the moment since last night there is now ZERO lights on at all. Nothing when I connect the charger.
I did a search here and found one about a blown fuse? Any suggestions what I can do. I'm tempted with a new battery just in case it's that simple but as I now get no lights at all i'm not sure if it's going to help anything.
Anyone able to offer some pointers? It's about 2 months out of warrenty now and they'd flash it anyway if it went back, my last sync was quite a while ago so i'm a little worried about loosing my contacts
No LED means its dead... May be the fuse or could be, if it was dropped, a broken battery connection. Might be more money to repair than its worth. Unless you can revive it yourself I think you can kiss your contacts goodbye.
Sorry...
