its not an am/fm radio
its the update of the receiver for the g1
its an update for the phone's antenna that receives the signal from the wireless carrier

Downgrade Radio/IMEI

I need to change the IMEI on one of my XDA's.
Its running radio 4.21.
Is there any way to downgrade the radio to an older version that works with manipulator, or how long until IMEI will be changeable on 4.21

Downgrading radios is advised against, and we have every reason to believe the hype. We are currently working on a few other things, no clue when we'll get to 'doing' the modem part in-depth.

Not to drag this off topic but what are you guys working on... more like what wonderful things do we have to look forward to?
I not too concerned if it is advised against, I'm more than happy to take my chances. If it's possible please tell.

xv6700 radio=none

my xv6700 radio=none .
I want to use mtty to backup the radio from another xv6700,and then update this xv6700. but I can not backup the xv6700 radio with mtty. please help me!
thanks
why back it up? go to ppcgeeks.com and sign up and you can get all the roms from there. The newest is 1.41. I just did it like 2 days ago, at my house I got maybe one bar, now I get 3 atleast. It was a great update.
because one of other damage the radio, it is radio=none!
so I want to use the miniSD backup a normal radio to replace the bad one!
thanks
Forget this post, look at the one below.
Oh, and the miniSD would have nothing to do with it. MTTY is on the comp so it would save it to the comp, and to the best of my knowledge you can't flash an Apache from the miniSD card.
Go here, only thing I could find on getting your ROM back (hard reset), amazing what searching can do:

thanks
but it cat not find the radio too.
Do you mean you can not find the radio?

He already has the radio. He just can't put it all together apparently.
try esn repair procedure.
No, once the radio is no longer showing on on the booting process it is gone, It is a hardware issue and not software related. I dont care how many times you flash or with what ROM you flash with. The radio is gone and it is not coming back. I worked my azz off on a device with the same issue. I re-flashed my own ROM, I flashed with an OEM ROM. I copied files from a working 67 to the bad 67 and nothing. I used SPB Clone from a good and working 67 to the 67 with no radion and still nothing.
Believe me it is dead. What you guys are failing to read is in his first post his radio on bootup says "none". That means hardware failure, I.E. DEAD.
Go get a replacement from a claim or ebay.
IF, i said if, esn and checksum of $SYS.ESN are wrong its the same situation but radio should flash. im gonna mess around with the one i already have, its on the same situation. ill let u know if anything.

New XV6800, aGps not working anymore

I am having weird problems getting this to work. Last week I messed up my usb port on my phone. GPS has always worked fine on my phone. I've been using the Telus server for months. I got a new XV6800 from Verizon and put the same version rom and radio that I had on the original one with all the same software. I did the aGPS fix and now it doesn't work. On my original phone as soon as something would access the gps hardware it would make a data connection or activate the connection if it was already there. This phone doesn't make a data connection at all. No matter what I do it will not make a data connection. Made the registry and QPST settings exactly the same as the original phone. I even put my battery in the original phone and ran a gps tool and it tried to make a data connection. What could be going on here??? I am out of ideas.
Can you get a data connection with IE. If not you need to do a hard reset and then try again.
My friend had an XV6800 AND got a new one from Verizon a week before me and has the same exact problem. Yeah, I can get a data connection fine with IE. GPS just doesn't initiate a connection anymore on this phone. Its like it doesn't even try to use agps. The only differences I could find are these. Not sure if this matters:
New Phone
PRL Version: 51433
PRI Version: 2.03_002
Old Phone
PRL Version: 51345
PRI Version: 1.35_002
Are you running the stock MR1 or MR2 rom
Nope, using the same rom and radio that I used all along on the old phone.
DCD 3.2.6
Radio 3.42.30
isn't there a verision cab file you have to run to fill in the network and password info to access the data network?

I never said I was having an issue with a data connection at all. I fixed the issue already. The new rom that the phone came with had a PRI version that blocked GPS. I had to flash an older Verizon radio and rom and then flash the new radio and dcd rom to fix it. Phone is fine now.
I just flashed my Sprint Mogul 6800 with wm6.5 build 21501. Google maps worked perfect yesterday. Today google maps can't find a gps and tries to connect with the internet sharing connection I setup last night. Anybody have any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

From what I've read in the Upgrading section even if it came with MR1 or MR2 you must first flash to a stock Verizon ROM that is PRE MR1, then flash your custom ROM, then set up your aGPS settings in QPST and then it should work fine again.
Hope that helps.
EDIT: It may be a pre-GPS (no GPS support) Verizon ROM that you need to flash with. I don't have Verizon so I am no 100% sure.

Np. Thanks anyway.
Don't know if it helps in this case... But I had the same problem today... I used my GPS 2 days ago and then for seemingly no reason I could not get a lock today. I soft and hard reset 3 times with no luck. About 30min later I remembered that I installed one of those stealth programs (in case you lose or get you phone stolen you can sms your phone and it will send you the GPS coords of where it is) so I uninstalled it and Voila! I had a lock in seconds. Is it possible that you are getting a compatibility issue with a program that you thought nothing of at the time of install?
Just a thought, hope it helps
What program were you using??

Not sure if you were asking me, but if so it was Smart Phone Tracker 1.37.0.0
I am having similar issues.
The GPS will lock... but takes forever and is not using data to do it.
I have checked and double checked everything, but its exactly as the wiki says it should be.
Running Custom build off of the 21042 Kitchen... 3.42.50 Radio
For anyone who cares, I solved my problem.

step 12... I changed the Position Calculation from PDE to mobile, as per some notes I found from Shadow-Tech.

HTC tattoo radio

I have a little question, if you flash the tattoo via the goldcard method, does it also flash the radio or it leaves it out because there is no root access?
It flashes Radio.

Here the radio is not FM radio. This radio is the Tattoo's wireless controls like the GSM/3G, WiFi and GPS. The RUU updates these controls according to its version.
I am having trouble switching the 3G radio on for airtel. I believe Tattoo comes with 3G radio can you confirm
indian tattoo don't have 3G hardware confirmed by HTC officials

[Q] is it possible to downgrade the radio?

I am using N_01.97.00R and I wish to downgrade to the older and .87 radio is it even possible?
I have an AT&T Atrix phone, once it was upgraded to N_1.77.36P then downgraded it to N_1.77.30P due to some issues. I believe radio is independent of other stuff; you only need to flash the radio.img only (or a update.zip with radio only in it).
You can flash any radio you want which is for your phone.

Find the "Fruit Cakes" thread in the development section, it's near the end of OP, there're two versions for AT&T phones.
