WPhone WM6 On Iphone - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

Hello, just for information purposes only, im currently working on porting WM6 to the iphone device, its proving tricky and is highly unusable, but i don't think its impossible at this stage of development, ive applied for a sourceforge page to show the project status and will keep you informed.
anyone willing to help please pm me. only serious developers though, thankyou
John
update
Will post sourceforge link as soon as its ironed out but until then...
http://www.wrightsbytes.com/home.php
its unfinished.

Sounds interessting,
Will it need a ROM Replacement or it is a Linux Loader like HaReT?

Without the possibility of using an stylus with the iPhone will prove very useless to have WinMo on it.

rom based
it will be rom based but use a bootloader command to initiate boot. keeping iphone os intact.... as for stylus,, wm6.1 was developed to help eliminate stylus (not only reason) but it helps. i will also develop a panel based system like the xperia x1 to allow ease of use.

wow how far are you? if this gets finished i will buy an iphone and run windows mobile on it.

Seeing this running would make me laugh so loud ! This could mean that the iPhone could get, one day, a real app store with the XDA community behind
How far are you in the Bootloader management ?

This will be interesting WM 6.1 or 6.5 running at iPhone, everyone wait for this. Problem is booting different os, because it's not same with htc devices.

Well, I do wish you the best of luck! And as far as the video, this actually has its own thread and it was deemed by the whole community (and possibly the world) to be fake, so please let's not bring up the subject anymore...

I've been a long-time user of the forum and I remember that back in the days OP had originated a much talked-about hoax with a WM5 for Magician. Keeping this in mind, methinks this thread is a huge load of BS, and OP is full of it. I'll shut up now, before I say something that I will regret later...
raptorz, good luck with that WM6 for iPhone...

fair point, but lets keep in mind the differnce between an excited mistake and a hoax... a very thin line but still a massive differnce so please save the slander as for the project im not stating what im making exists im saying im developing it and request help from others if you follow the links etc.. help is required. hardly possible to hoax a development with a community behind ur back. prehaps trust will be earnt.

how is this project coming? the webpage looks the same as it was a week or 2 ago

Will Wndows mobile 6.5.3 come to the HD2?

I just saw a TG01 running winmo 6.5.3 at CES and it looked impressive. Small changes and nice onscreen push buttons at the bottom of each page for easy pressing.
I wonder if the HD2 will get it??
already has it. head over to the rom section, bro.

There's nothing in the OP about wanting an official version of 6.5.3. It just says 6.5.3. So, he's right. Searching will find it. If you do want an official version, you'll have to wait until it's released. You may still not get it then anyway. It will be down to your provider.

I hope not. If HTC are going to put any effort into a new version of WM then I hope it will be WM7 rather than 6.5.3
Where did the thread starter mention that he has a provider locked phone?
This thread is full of rudeness and irrational answers. A mod might as well lock it.

Disagree, my question about where the thread starter mentioned that he has a provider locked phone is relevant in the light of at least one irrelevant answer.
But thank you for your pointless comment.
Back OT - My bold prediction is that HTC won't bother with 6.5.3 but will issue more and more patches for current issues and then present something more advanced at a later stage, probably in the middle of the year.
I have absolutely no factual (or even fictional) basis for the above assertion but it seems entirely reasonable. I feel it in my gut.
Shoot me down if you wish but at least I'm OT.
Same as above, I don't think HTC is going to bother with 6.5.3 (or rather, I'd like them to pay to make actual proper drivers instead of OS updates); in any case, when/if an official release of Windows 6.5.3 is out you'll prolly be able to find it in the ROM section, xda being, you know, xda.
As for personal experience, 6.5.3 transformed my device into a trainwreck (a shiny trainwreck with huge buttons) with all relevant cooked roms as of 5 days ago, making me swiftly retreat to a cooked 6.5.0. Of course, it depends of what you do with it (if you want a device you can rely on and consider stable or not). Your mileage may vary.

[info] New HTC rom 1.66.* :)

Now I have your attention, well only some of you.
I hate to write this but its getting beyond a joke these days. Every "chef" out to make a $ by releasing their "customised" work of original HTC roms, you get some crazy satisfaction about your ROM's being on others devices. Those base ROM's should be freely available to ALL users, not locked away and not being released straight away to make sure you have the "edge". Sure you have contacts in HTC that give you the ROM's before anyone else, ****, who cares. It will get out one way or another, why not publicly post it for everyone to get access to it? You all know who you are and its pathetic, I'm sure most of you have real jobs out there and if you don't, jesus, get one.
Sure "chefs" might modify some DLL's to get "better" performance but even then, its not your IP, its HTC's/Microsoft etc etc.
At the end of the day, we're all a community who support each other, so why bite the hand that feeds you?
Without commenting on your remarks, I'd be more interested to hear from someone what is new in 1.66 and 2.06, how they relate to each other comment what the differences are.

Barty,
That's the thing, if it was public like it should be, everyone else would know. But it has mainly updated apps (Compass, Album, Camera etc etc), but still requires the SMS Fix.
I really don't think there's a need for such accusations and hostility. The last time this happened (over the whole Rhodium/Topaz leak fiasco) it ended with a lot of bad blood and several good chefs refusing to cook for the xda community anymore!
There are already several cooks working with the new 1.66 base. Have you personaly been denied access to the sources?
Please lets not see a repeat of last years silliness. It was not good for this great community.

I don't care who has it, and all this bad blood is pathetic, children crying over spilt milk.
And being denied to private information, no, but I don't care, I'm voicing my public opinion about it.
And if one goes, I'm sure 20 more will step up to the plate. They're more then welcome to go off and try and create another xda, good luck to them, many have tried and failed.
Sorry but I don't understand why you're so angry? Yes it's a community and I can see several major contributors to that very same community working with 1.66 right now, for our benefit.
Are you annoyed that the stock rom hasn't been posted for all and sundry yet?

Honestly mate, I wouldn't stress. It appears the 1.66 build has just been leaked today and I'm willing to bet that before you know it a stock rom will be available to all. You can't blame those that got hold of it first trying to integrate it quickly into their roms. Well I understand the OP frustration but I usually just try to ignore it. There has been some of this going on in the recent past where someone gets a build and they share it only with about 4 certain other people with instructions not to share to anyone else. All the while these four or five people release ROM's with the new build while everyone else has to wait. I can't blame the guys it is given to as I'm sure they are glad to be getting it. The point is it makes it look really privatizing that the same 4-5 people always have the new stuff before others.
But as always it will surface before too long. But it may take a week as the others have not released their ROM with it yet.

there is NO WAY right now to even port it. like the guys above me said, go buy an android phone.

what you could try is:
copy a HTC desire ROM to your HD2 and see what happens when you boot it..
please let me know the outcome..

Did you catch a hint of sarcasm, you sure did!
Should the OP have used search, yes. Should the OP take a look at the XDA homepage from time to time, sure. But really, whats the point in replying if you have nothing to contribute of value. Reply #4, even though it was blunt and could be read in a not so pleasant tone, still offered a valid answer and link without leading the OP down the path to a possible brick. Everything other reply was useless. Go ahead, flame me all you want, I don't give a ____.
To the OP, no, there is not a direct port of Android in any flavor for the HD2, or any other WinMo based phone for that matter. Yet. This doesn't mean it won't be possible, amazing things have happened here on XDA since I joined in 2007. There are options though, keep watching this thread as there are currently 6 known working HTC WinMo devices that can run Android via a WinMo app called haret.

I think there's more than 6 winmo devices that can run android through haret. But otherwise, you're completely right.
I don't think a lot of the people on these forums asking for android on HD2 understand the fact that there has been no perfect android port for any winmo devices, yet. I've noticed there's a lot of new winmo users on these hd2 forums who think that a port should come soon and they will be able to install/flash it and have a perfectly working android phone. I've even heard people say they bought the hd2 anticipating an android port.
It doesn't work like that. It never has. These ports take time. They are very buggy at first, and even when they iron out the bugs, it is still not fully functional. It will probably be years before we have a port that can use bluetooth, wifi, camera, sensors, etc.
If you want to use android full-time as your main phone os, get an android phone. It's great when we can boot into android when you want and use some android apps, but it's going to be a very long time before its functional enough to want to use full-time. If you want to have a hd2 and make full use of its features, your gonna have to use winmo. A bootable android will be a great feature and fun thing to play with, but thats all its going to be good for for a long time.... something to play with. I dont think theres been a fully functional port to a winmo phone, yet.
So to the people waiting for android on your hd2... be patient, and dont expect a fully working version anytime soon.

Does any body want a vanilla rom

but i need it bassed on something or not if u dont want it
It depends on weather its a proper Rom or if its just filepushing like your 'Cronos LightSpeed Supper Rom'
and weather you've learnt to spell...
On a more serious note, anyone can use WinZIP, we don't need someone to spam the forums doing it for us.
Please don't see this as anything against you, its just advice.

I laughed.
And don't ask us if you want a ROM. Just develop, ask for help, improve it before it's launched (do this sequence 3 or 4 times), then release, and be flooded with bugs.
That's how it works.
Also, if someone wants to be my tutor, I'd be very glad.
I'm thinking of starting ROM developing aswell. I don't know what to read first.

Try asking Feeyo and elemag for help. They are very open to give information.
Feeyo in particularly is learning me a lot about how I can create an rom for myself from AOSP. Those 2 are not greedy nor being secretly about how they do things.
Cant say that from that other Team.

Well, price, I guess. And availability. The N1 wasn't available in my country, unless for an extremely unreasonable price.
Also, I think the N1 is not as sexy as the hero, or the desire...
Wow - there's some 'bad-mood' users around here, ey? We all start somewhere, so give the guy a little slack.
Anyway, if you want my honest opinion, you will struggle in the Vanilla ROM world on these forums. VanillaEclair, aHero, EzHero, CyanogenMod....there are more then enough really good Vanilla ROM's. On the other hand, Cronos, Villain, ChocolateEclair, Kimera....there are also more then enough great Sense ROM's too. It's a tough area to enter into as there is a lot of competition, and I'm sure many users can agree that we have seen some really detrimental side effects of the competition.
So, back to my honest opinion - I don't think anybody wants another vanilla ROM, nor another Sense ROM, unless you have something great to bring to the party, in which case I suggest rather make a public thread with your 'great thing' so that it can be implemented into existing ROM's. At the same time, this is a developement forum, and new developements are obviously always welcome. So, if you have the patience (for bug reports and updates) and decency (to work with the other developers), by all means, bring out a new ROM. I for one will be happy to test and report.
Just my 2c.
Mr P.
what I would suggest is you make the rom that YOU want to use. not pure vanilla, not pure stock sense, but the features you want most, including the (freely distributable) apps you want to include in the rom.
then you can always post it here in case others like it too.
I'd like to see a rom that doesn't include the standard apps but instead includes preinstalled the best free alternative calendar, widgets, launcher(pro...), alternative gallery, alternative camera, music player, app organizer, and so on.
something that is out of the box really really cool and setup for instant use (the way sense phones are setup from the factory, but using non-sense apps maybe).
that would be worth seeing here. it's been done but recently most popular roms are variations of the same thing and the competition is more about stability, performance, and working hardware. if you can base yours upon an already stable, fast and fully working hero rom (with permission from the authors), then customizing it and repackaging it could be really cool.

I read these boards daily and I just have to comment on this one. Why do people who are using this forum so opinionated? Meaning, why don't you provide some positive comments rather than some smart ass remarks like the two people who just posted. If you don't like what someone has posted, ignore it. Especially when you are on your second posting and already you are a smart ass. This is a forum that people use to gather info, post info and try to help each other. Now, if your posting helps, then great. Otherwise, please try to be civil.
JMHO!

Agreed. =)
Love the post - but even better love the post before this one as shown on the screenshot... while asking this question and wondering, 20-25 minutes before the question was asked there is posted extracted img file of GingerDude ... I know it's not complete build but you can imagine since this fast extraction worked - Leo is gonna have gingerdude very very soon :L)
doubts this heavily
can't we wait till it is actually on a device like the n1 first and not just dumped from an emulator instead? also do we need 10 million threads of the same thing?
Gingerbread has not been released for any current device. why don't we just wait till there is a n1 release and then we can have at it?

If people do not like multiple threads, complainers, then why contribute to them by taking up space and jabbering comments? Kinda contradicktory; if the DEVS don't like it then they'll delete it, simple.

+1 ...i totally agree. some get ignorant for no reason. it's like they try to belittle others.try to sound one step smarter than the next person..and for what? what do you gain? i also hate when someone takes advantage of the post system and talks down to someone with less posts.
just because one has less posts then another doesn't mean they know any less. it just means they recently joined this forum. doesn't mean they are noobs.
2.3
Correct me if I am wrong here but since 2.3 is a revision of 2.2 wouldn't it be a case of just updating the kernel and booting away??
Eg relatively minor work compared to the whole getting android on to HD2 in the first place.

Oh hell yeah. Saw this earlier, but didnt even realise that it was my post that you were talking about. Biff has already tried to start booting, but no luck yet. Motoman and M-deejay are on it as well.
geez you guys i post a topic and ofcourse some "smart" people who don't get the question ansewr as harsh as they can just to prove their "i'm a big important guy".
the question i posted was majorly mistaken as i tried to be retoric. to those who still don't get it better question could be "how long do you think our developers will need to get gingerbread working, share your thoughts!"
as i'm long time member of this site i can now perfectly see why some newbie users are afraid of asking and rather pay for complete tut how to get android workin on ebay and similar.
such big site should be open to new users because they can become potential developers (they get into it and get addicted...).
i know that flaming will still exist nomather what i write here, but, atleast if you can, answer to the new users, make good tutorials, suggest stickies to mods! this will keep our train rollin.
noone is born smart, you learn(ed) every and each thing you "smartasses" know and probably didn't just fall off the sky. you asked. so respect that!
EDIT: mods can now close this thread as gingerbread is working according to our hero darkstone!!
