Debrand Vodafone Sony X1 pleaseee Help - XPERIA X1 General

Hi i have a sony x1 that is on vodfone but sim unlocked i would like to get rid of the logos etc how can i do this? what rom should i upgrade to? what is the best?
thanks

If you don't want the Vodafone panel you can just copy the google panel files over it, or change the registry to unlock the panel then change it to a different one. Both of these options are on the forum.
The whole which ROM is best question is a matter of preference... Some have lots and lots of features, some use beta software, others are very lite. Just think about what you want and look at the different ROMs and pick one.
crabby

thanks for your answer mate i want to upgrade to a official debranded rom what would you recomend? any links?
thanks

You can just flash to the generic official rom(no hard spl needed). Link to the generic romes are in the rom section.
Good Luck

thanks mate do i download any rom? which one do you recomend?
thanks

What language you want/got?

well i want english mate just like the one i have on the current vodafone rom
thanks

Here you can see all available official roms: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=475482
You need:
X1i_GENERIC_UK_CDF1215-1832_R2AA010
Download link is: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=23T0OMYP or check the above topic for rapidshare link and links to all other official roms

thanks alot mate is that the one you recomend me to download then? is it quite stable? do i need hardspl to uprade to this?
thanks

It's just the official UK R2A rom. You don't need hardspl because it is a official rom and the spl is in the rom.
The rom is stable, like all official roms(atleast at my phone they are stable).

so your actuualy using the firmware that your recomending to me mate?
thanks

I'm using the dutch generic R2A rom, but it's the same the only differents is the language so from what I can say it's a good stable rom.

Can someone give me a clearly answer? I am really confused about rom update!

hi, Just received my X1 yesterday. The os rom/radio rom on my phone are older version. I am going to update both of them. I have read a lots about rom upgrade on this site, but I am now confused that nearlly every post saying need to re-flash the SPL rom first before doing any update. My question is do i need to flash the SPL first if I just want to upgrade to the generic rom? For example, the rom on my phone currentlly is UK(probably customised for O2) version, now I just want to flash to a newer verison of UK os rom and radio rom( I don't want to mass up the SPL rom yet, just in case there is any problem with my phone). Can someone give me a answer?
Thx.
the uk generic rom is an official rom. so no need to flash spl. im not sure abt the radio rom.

Thanks mate. I am still waitting for some to help me out!
You need to flash spl with hardspl when you will try one of the custom roms on that site here and when you download a radio from this site...
You don't need to flash hardspl, when you update from s/e update service from you computer
just use the sony ericsson update service (seus)
however im not certain if theres an o2 update out yet, if yours is o2 branded
however, youve only had your device for 1 day! dont you think itd be a good idea to try using it before you start messing? good idea t
Also
Don't forget, my VOda was able to install the GENERIC UK without HardSPL so it's possible 02 should work also, because they don't lock their top end phones. (My Voda UK is also SIM-Free).

Which ROM

I found my O2 XDA mini s in a draw yesterday, and as I have never played with ROMS or anything like that I though it was about time. SO...
Its an O2 Mini s - i have found the FTP site and can see there are 2 or 3 O2 UK ROMS, but which one is the best, most stable etc?
Also what if I dont like, it - can I downgrade the ROM back to the original from somewhere?
Any input would be fantastic - thanks
I suggest you to try an WM6.1 or WM6.5 rom. To do that you must first CID & SIM unlock your phone. Read this guide very carefully.
Now there are 2 cooks that make Roms for our Wizard, xda2_haseeb & CRACING. They both make great roms. Visit their threads & see for your self. Those Roms are not UK but WWE. They are fully English roms if your problem is the language.
If someday you decide to revert to the original / stock Rom (I don't see why) it's easy. You just have to download the Rom from the provider of your phone for your country & just flash it to your phone. When you do this your phone will be locked again so if you want to reflash it with an other not stock Rom you must unlock it again .-

Hi, is your phone from CSL/1010 or from Broadway or other retail stores? I was wondering what ROM those come in.
The CSL 1.48 ROM is VERY FAST even compared to cooked ROM. Super stable as well.
Good luck!

Can you tell me why you want to flash it back as I believe yours is newer. I want more SPACE=RAM
Although I don't ever install that CSL bloatware.
Thanks a lot!
I don't think it's newer, just because the 831.0 is an English UI with Chinese support and input, the 832.1 is a Traditional Chinese UI with Chinese support & input. The digital compass somehow dosen't work so well in my current rom(832.1).
The ram is almost the same.

The CSL bloatware just comes up if you pop in a CSL sim card during initial set-up, no? I'm assuming this is the stock ROM, so it'd have the CSL stuff in it?
I bought my HD2 from Broadway, and when I was in HK I had a CSL simcard, so the set-up options came up on first boot.
Assuming the result you want is a stable system in English with chinese input support, possibly the best solution would be to install the 1.66 Asian WWE to your Leo. Mine is done this way and the result is really pleasing.
Mind you that for the best result in displaying chinese in programs like media player, you better install the cabs as explained in this thread:

Cheers and enjoy!

I don't ever use Chinese at all, I just bought my phone in HK whilst I was on holiday, so I'd like to have that stock ROM in case I want to go back to it after mucking around with other ROMS.
TBH, I've got everything set the way I like it at the moment, and I cannot be bothered redoing everything again right now. Maybe when I Have a bit more time
How's the 1.66 Asian WWE ROM compared to the stock HK rom? One thing thats still pissing me off is the pink patch in photos despite installing the fix from HTC Hk's website.

So if I flash my HD2 with the "RUU_Leo_HKCSL_WWE_1.48.831.0_Radio_Signed_15.28.50 .07U_2.05.51.05_2_Ship.exe" ROM, can anyone confirm whether it would automatically install the CSL bloatware even if I'm using another carrier (e.g. smartone-vodafone or PCCW)? Or is there an option to bypass the CSL applications?
Thanks
hi muffin. i've got a hkCSL HD2. i can confirm that the "bloatware" only comes up if you have a CSL or 1010 sin inserted also i think there is an option to not install it if you do! i am using the HD2 in the uk now with a Vodafone sin and no "bloatware". i hope this answers your question.....

Which official ROM should I upgrade to (Vodafone UK)

Hi -
I've had my HTD HD2 a few days now and want to upgrade to an official ROM which will hopefully sort out a few minor instability problems that it has at the moment, and more importantly battery life issues.
The current ROM version is 1.43.405.1 (70124) WWE.
Firstly could someone please advise me which ROM version I should upgrade to? On the European HTC site the latest is 1.48.405.2 but apparently there is a 2.02 out too?
Also, could someone advise me where I should download the ROM from? I can't use the HTC official site as my serial number is blocked due to Vodafone only allowing ROM upgrades through them. I've found this link from this site http://www.4shared.com/dir/22189940/b8552fa0/Shipped_Leo_ROMs.html but am not sure if i'm looking at the correct thing?
Finally, could you please tell me which guide I should follow? I was thinking this one... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=591314
Thanks in advance for your help
1.48 is the official HTC one so I'd say give that a go first...
Best guide is the one for n00bs as it tells you how to install HSPL as well which makes life SO much easier (apparently, still on 1.48 myself)...have a good read and go from there...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=609477
1.48/1.61 are the latest official roms.
2.01 and 2.02 are unofficial leaked ones.
Stick with 1.61 or 1.48 for stock. You can then always flash a new radio too.
Install HSPL, then put the ROM image you pick on an sdcard as LEOIMG.nbh. Or install via activesync.
Thanks for both the replies. Sorry could you clarify which is the latest official? 1.61 or 1.48?
I thought I need to use a gold to upgrade? Would the guide you linked to, EddyOS still be okay? Because it does not mention the gold car in it anywhere, wheras the one here does...
And finally, could you explain what HSPL is and how it would be beneficial?
Thank you!
bump.. any help is appreciated. thanks
These are questions best asked and answered in the ROM Development section, not here in General., but briefly, HSPL will let you flash any rom from any region, including cooked roms. Goldcard will let you flash OFFICIAL roms from any region, but unless you already have a goldcard, you will have trouble making one, as the free goldcard generator went offline a few days ago.
Having HSPL on your device will probably be enough of an excuse for your supplier to not support your warranty, though you can uninstal HSPL if needed.
Go read the Rom development section over and over and over again is the best advice.
1.61 is the latest official ROM, but it is localised only for WWE and Turkish.
Yes, and HSPL will let you recover from a bad flash too.

ROM Upgrade for HTC HD2 Vodafone Branding

Hello everybody,
I have bought my new HTC HD2 from Vodafone Germany. I live in Germany and ,as all windows devices, my HTC is localized to Germany and the windows mobile 6.5 comes with the German language and I wanted to change it to English. I tried to download the ROM upgrade to "English-Arabic support" from HTC website but when I put the serial number of my device it says that this version is not suitable for your device and I have found another version "RUU_Leo_HTC_WWE_1.48.405.2_Radio_Signed_15.28.50.07U_2.05.51.05_2_Ship.exe" and when I tried to install it I got an error says "INVALID Vendor ID" or something like this.
Finally I have bought a 3ed party software just to be enabled to read arabic but the language is still German
So please if anybody knows how to solve this problem and help me I will be thankful.
Best Regards,
Amer
install hspl then instal whichever run you like via usb.
i had the same probs here with vodaphone uk...
as above, install hspl, the sticky of this can be found in the leo roms section of this site and it will guide you, but the installation process is really straight forward.. then you are able to install any of the ROMS, be they official OR custom cooked roms..
My personal favourite is the ENERGY series of roms.. but have a good look about, im sure you will find many that offer the practicality and versatility your after!

Hi Ell_H,
Thank you very much for your reply and I have read about HSPL and it sounds amazing tool but another question about restoring the old system. How can I get the original ROM and restore the system to its old state after changing it?
Thanks in advanced.

You need to find the original rom for your phone, both region AND provider(if you were getting invalid serial on teh htc website then your phone is provider locked, so for example you would need to look for the german t mobile rom, if you got your phone from t mobile germany)
Once you have your original rom you can then use sd card method to remove hspl and restore to factory rom. You can only do this with your original shipped rom.
Problem upgradind German Vodafone ROM
Hi,
I have the same problem upgrading the Vodafone ROM. I would like to load the generic ROM or any other ROM that works with Vodafone. It can be English as well. If I try to load the generic through HTC site it checks the SN and doesn't allow the ROM upgrade.
What to do to load another up to date ROM without running into the same issue as Amer? There are so many ROM version out there and I don't want to risk trying the wrong ROM.
Thanks for help!

You need to obtain the rom from vodafone, or use HSPL / Gold Card to flash another ROM.
Thx for answer. I read about HSPL and will figure that out. I read there are requirements concerning the radio. My radio is 2.04.50.22_2 and ssems pretty old. Does someone know where to find the best guide how to do the HSPL install?
There are many ROMS out there and I want to make sure I will not run into trouble using it with Vada. What ROM to take is the question?
Danke!
