Which ROM - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

I found my O2 XDA mini s in a draw yesterday, and as I have never played with ROMS or anything like that I though it was about time. SO...
Its an O2 Mini s - i have found the FTP site and can see there are 2 or 3 O2 UK ROMS, but which one is the best, most stable etc?
Also what if I dont like, it - can I downgrade the ROM back to the original from somewhere?
Any input would be fantastic - thanks

I suggest you to try an WM6.1 or WM6.5 rom. To do that you must first CID & SIM unlock your phone. Read this guide very carefully.
Now there are 2 cooks that make Roms for our Wizard, xda2_haseeb & CRACING. They both make great roms. Visit their threads & see for your self. Those Roms are not UK but WWE. They are fully English roms if your problem is the language.
If someday you decide to revert to the original / stock Rom (I don't see why) it's easy. You just have to download the Rom from the provider of your phone for your country & just flash it to your phone. When you do this your phone will be locked again so if you want to reflash it with an other not stock Rom you must unlock it again .-

o2 xda neo / on the edge of panic

Hello everyone,
I have on order a o2 xda neo, I was told by the salesman that
the manual and os were in english.
I have now found out that the neo is a german version of the
i mate jamin. I feel very stupid.
What does this mean in real life terms? Will it have a german
interface that I can't read? will I have to flash the os?
anyone?
thanks,
Chance
O2 XDA Neo
Hi.
I have O2 XDA Neo too, it's one week now. It's from Germany so everything was completely german. I flashed the RUU_Prophet_2151327_21513121_021921_DOP_ASIA_WWE_Ship-NoVendorID.zip from here, it's english version.
But first, try to search for english localization of WM5. I you won't find it then flash the new ROM. The problem is, there is no solution to go back to O2 German ROM nowadays for IPL, SPL version 2.15.0001. You will surely get the new version. But in month or two, there will be tool to unlock the phone to be able to flash lower versions of ROMs. Read the forum, it's priceless source of information.
Thank you Median for your reply, I have heard many horror
stories about flashing ROM,but if I have to I will, So what your saying is
the ROM on the OS is different from the WM5 and that I have to flash both.
I appreciateyou taking the trouble to answer me.
chance
The file is the Dopod's ROM, it's newer version then O2's and includes english WM5. Flashing was abslolutely no problem on my Neo. It takes about 10-15 mins to flash. Some say 30 mins, but for me it was quick. And the best thing you can do when flashing ROM - don't watch it, it doesn't like it. You know, it's intimate time for the device

1) Do you have to CID unlock your Prophet before flashing to the Dopod Rom?
2) What was your SPL / IPL prior to flashing?
3) Does flashing change your SPL / IPL?
4) I have Orange SPV M600 with IPL 2.10.0001 / SPL 2.10.0001 and someone told me that i need to CID unlock first to be able to flash ROMs.
Is this true?
5) Also i do not see the M600 original ROM available for download, how do i go back to orange ROM if need be? Will it be possible if orange made their ROM available for download?
Pls help.
I've just flashed my O2 Neo bought in Germany, ver. 2.09.0001. I used the ROM available in the forum,
RUU_Prophet_2151327_21513121_021921_DOP_ASIA_WWE_Ship-NoVendorID
and it worked FINE. GREAT! I bought the telephone unlocked in Germany from O2, didn't needed to unlock CID. My GSM card from my brazil operator worked fine. Wifi too.
Thanks, I will try the Portuguese ROM now.
I have a question, if I flash the O2 neo to english version, the home-zone function will be lost or not?
It will be Lost but u can install the homezone needed files from the ext.rom afterwards. These Files should be available on the ftp Server.
AND:
I did also upgrade my German O2-XDA NEO to the mentioned Dopod rom - And you can also go back to the (older) Neo Rom later.
I do not know why but it is possible to downgrade from Dopod to the newest O2 rom, maybe because both are 2.15.x.x.?!

Help on Rom for Artemis

Hi, this is my very first post here, in the best site/forum on the internet about PDA.
Here's my doubt: I have an Artemis With WM 6.0 in Portuguese. I want to take my risks in the world of cooked roms and i want to try the artemis touch 4.02, wich it is in english. As I read, we just have to run the USPL and than flash with any rom. Am I right?
Second question is: I have a portuguese rom or at least an extended rom. My question is: I flash my artemis with the english artemis touch 4.02 rom, supose that I don't like it or something else and want to return to my portuguese rom I can use the extended portuguese rom that I have?
Something like this:
1.Original Portuguese Rom
2.Flash with the english artemis touch 4.02
3.Get back to portuguese with extended portuguese rom that I have.
Can I do this 3 steps if I wish so? And if I do all those 3 steps will I loose my warranty?
Congratulations for the amazing comunity...

Don't forget to remove any passwords before you flash the new rom. And it is essential that you flash USPL before you flash a new rom. I made the following order, to success:
1-SIM unlock (definitive)
2-Temporary CID unlock through USPL (CID locks again after next step)
3-Flash a new rom. In my case, I'm using Oops Black v1.
Regarding the other questions, as far as I know, once you flash a new rom, you loose the old one.
And at last but not least, if you mess with it, you can always tell them you did nothing to it. I just don't know if they will believe you.

Thanks for the quick answer and yes, I know I will loose the rom inside the pda, but I have a file with about 51Mb downloaded from the htc website named: "HTC_P3300_PTG_3.13.410.1_4.1.13.44_02.94.90_Ship_R".
I just don't know if it is a rom or an extended rom, in fact I don't even know the real diferences beteween this 2 concepts...
My question is after I flash with "artemis touch 4.02", can I run USPL again and flash back to this rom? (supposely my original one)

Sure. you can allways get back to your original ROM (if you didn't had any problem in the midle of the process). Sometimes when you have problems with the flashing process, that will be you only chance.
The file that you've download is a ROM where you have the OS.
The extended ROM normally is only for add-ons.
Cheers
Hello!
The ROMs which are here posted, are all english?
Is there a way to get ROM which are in german, so i have an german GUI?
Just to say thanks to all on this forum. This, because of my very first rom flashing. And guess what? It went very well. No problems at all!!!!
All because of the amazing people that is here everyday trying to make the pda's world more simple for everyone.
By the way, congratulations to the "cooker" of Artemis Touch 4.02. It is a wonderfull rom, with everything that i use to install as third party software and many more and all this with a lot of ram free. It is very stable, fast and very good looking!

Backing up ROM ?

Hi gents
I havnt played with a WinMo phone since I had a Motorola Windows Mobile 2003 phone.
I have a UK O2 Branded HTC HD2, currently with ROM 1.43.206.4 WWE and Radio 2.04.50.22.2
I have ran HSPL ready for any cooked ROMs i might fancy
However, I am wondering if it is possibly to backup the current O2 rom incase i need to go back to it..restoring it to facotry settings if you will.
Is this possible?
Also, will an official ROM update both rom and radio and anything else ?
Thanks alot !
Hello,
As far as I am aware you can't backup a rom in the way I think you mean, ie if it all goes pear shaped you would like to restore the o2 rom from scratch.
If you search around (look in the wiki, not been there for a while) you might find an o2 rom in the repository. If so then you can copy it somewhere ready for if/when you need to "burn" it back in.
Unless you have a particular reason or lurve for the o2 rom you could just use the standard HTC rom if ever you needed to go back to a stock rom.
I take it you have read the threads on here about using roms, etc?
WB
Answer to your other questions: an official rom will update rom and radio. However if you use Bepe's SPL method then that only updates the rom (his method is good for updating cooked roms).
You can also use the goldcard method to update official roms and radio's only Or go onto HTC's site and do it from there). Best bet is to go and have a really good read of these threads and get to thoroughly understand the subject matter including the risks!.

ROM Upgrade for HTC HD2 Vodafone Branding

Hello everybody,
I have bought my new HTC HD2 from Vodafone Germany. I live in Germany and ,as all windows devices, my HTC is localized to Germany and the windows mobile 6.5 comes with the German language and I wanted to change it to English. I tried to download the ROM upgrade to "English-Arabic support" from HTC website but when I put the serial number of my device it says that this version is not suitable for your device and I have found another version "RUU_Leo_HTC_WWE_1.48.405.2_Radio_Signed_15.28.50.07U_2.05.51.05_2_Ship.exe" and when I tried to install it I got an error says "INVALID Vendor ID" or something like this.
Finally I have bought a 3ed party software just to be enabled to read arabic but the language is still German
So please if anybody knows how to solve this problem and help me I will be thankful.
Best Regards,
Amer
install hspl then instal whichever run you like via usb.
i had the same probs here with vodaphone uk...
as above, install hspl, the sticky of this can be found in the leo roms section of this site and it will guide you, but the installation process is really straight forward.. then you are able to install any of the ROMS, be they official OR custom cooked roms..
My personal favourite is the ENERGY series of roms.. but have a good look about, im sure you will find many that offer the practicality and versatility your after!

Hi Ell_H,
Thank you very much for your reply and I have read about HSPL and it sounds amazing tool but another question about restoring the old system. How can I get the original ROM and restore the system to its old state after changing it?
Thanks in advanced.

You need to find the original rom for your phone, both region AND provider(if you were getting invalid serial on teh htc website then your phone is provider locked, so for example you would need to look for the german t mobile rom, if you got your phone from t mobile germany)
Once you have your original rom you can then use sd card method to remove hspl and restore to factory rom. You can only do this with your original shipped rom.
Problem upgradind German Vodafone ROM
Hi,
I have the same problem upgrading the Vodafone ROM. I would like to load the generic ROM or any other ROM that works with Vodafone. It can be English as well. If I try to load the generic through HTC site it checks the SN and doesn't allow the ROM upgrade.
What to do to load another up to date ROM without running into the same issue as Amer? There are so many ROM version out there and I don't want to risk trying the wrong ROM.
Thanks for help!

You need to obtain the rom from vodafone, or use HSPL / Gold Card to flash another ROM.
Thx for answer. I read about HSPL and will figure that out. I read there are requirements concerning the radio. My radio is 2.04.50.22_2 and ssems pretty old. Does someone know where to find the best guide how to do the HSPL install?
There are many ROMS out there and I want to make sure I will not run into trouble using it with Vada. What ROM to take is the question?
Danke!

[Q] Latest/Recomended ROM to use?

Hi i have an unbranded HTC HD Mini. It's running ROM 1.36.401.1 (94538) WWE
I have a few issues with the phone a thte moment - crashes, tweet not working and the battery going from 90%-70% in 5 minutes with no progs running (i've changed the battery already) and thought i would upgade the ROM.
The HTC site has become useless, no ROM downladas, etc. Their suport people basically where no help.... so....
Which ROM is the latest official ROM for the device (UK/Europe, no carrier, although i currently have an O2 SIM) and where can i get it from (all links on google back to htc.com do not currently work as htc.com redirects everything to a generic help page).
I have not used a custom ROM before and m not toally against the idea as long as it works, Co-pilot will install and it's stable!
i have seen a link to the shipped ROMS list, but havent got a clue what all the code names are ad which one is correct fort he HD Mini.
thanks
If you need English ROM it seems RUU_Photon_HTC_WWE_EastEurope_1.36.479.1_Radio_Signed_32.2803.05.06_0.63.05.36_Ship.exe is the latest one.
thanks, thats great.
Is there any reason not to use the 1.38 version from o2 or the v1.41 from voafone? both UK.
i have no idea what additiona functionality they have, but i thik carriers tend to turn bits from the stock rom off dont they?
There is no much differences between roms.
For you reason (fix the battery issue) any rom could be good.
And you could apply any other rom if one is not suits you.
