Spare battery charger needed - Palm Treo Pro Accessories

Not that excited by the choices on eBay.
Anyone find a decent/cheap spare battery charger? It doesn't have to hold the phone simultaneously. I'm just looking for the charger for the battery.

I bought one of these for $5.99 on ebay, works great.

You can use any Micro USB charger so don't limit yourself to a "Palm Treo Pro" specific charger.

Thanks, that is a good deal for an AC charger that charges the phone.
I need to charge the spare battery though.

I actually went into one of the palm stores and told them I had lost my charger -- (left it at home) -- they didn't have one for sale and ended up giving me one

im looking for the same,,,,,,, some thing that just charges a battery. Any luck?

I gave up and bought one of these for all my electronic devices.

Looking for a spare battery charger

I have had 5 different "cradle" chargers that have failed.
I don't need one that charges the phone or uses as a sync charger.
I just want a standalone separate battery charger. I'd prefer if it plugged directly into the wall instead of via a cable but either works ok I guess
why not have a look on ebay?
J
Can those found on Ebay be considered reliable? I was hoping that maybe someone has already purchased something similar for the Kaiser and wouldn't mind sharing their thoughts and opinions. I would love to have a cradle for my Tilts so I can charge them and their extra battery. However, a simple battery charger would be nice as well.
I bought this cradle and I'm very happy. Working excellent.
HTC also has a cradle/charger, and though it looks much nicer and taking less space, the price is exaggerated.
There is a a battery charger as a stand alone. From the picture the battery is definitely not genuine, but the price worth it even if you'll throw the battery away. I don't know about the reliability of this seller/product though.
I bought this http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230228595112 did not receive it yet but looks like what I want. Even though it is only USB but I think I can hook it with a USB wall charger that will also charge it direct
Here's one from Sedio with flip-out AC prongs;

I bought one from ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=250215286540&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=015
It was very inexpensive, has flip-out ac prongs, and works great. It arrived in about 10 days from HK.

Do you know if this cradle can charge the extended battery (the one that is 3000mah)? I asked the ebay seller that you reference the same question and he said that he thinks it can, but he was not sure.
Thanks,

kcrumbley, sorry, I don't have the 3000mAh battery so I can't help you.
I bought a 2 pack of these chargers on Woot a while back. They have worked great for me charging spare batteries. Haven't seen them for sale anywhere else (not that I have looked too hard). Highly recommend them if you can find them.

I have one of those cradles as well and aside from having to do a little 'pin tweaking' with a pair of needle nose pliers (to get the cradle pins to line up with the battery contacts) it works fine. I bought it as a bundle with a spare 1350 mAh battery as well but since the larger capacity batteries still have the same contacts and basic sizes apart from thickness (after all they do fit in the same phone as a standard thickness battery) the higher capacity battery should fit fine. It'll just take longer to charge.
I purchased the Seido charger and it did not work, nor did the replacement they sent. The problem with the design is that it is a universal charger that has inserts for different batteries. Unfortunately the tolerances are not tight and the insert has trouble making contact with the main charger.

Extra Battery Question For Fuze

Hello all
I value the opinion of the members here so I wanted to ask an updated battery question for my FUZE. There are many threads here about different batteries, but most are old. I am looking for current info if any.
Background:
1) I do not like the way the extended batteries look and how huge they make the phone.
2) So I am looking for a second backup battery (regular size) that I can have charged and with me on business trips to use when first battery runs out of juice.
THE QUESTION -
Can anyone post current links to backup batteries they have purchased that either have cradles with them, or some other external way to charge them outside of the phone. I need to be able to use my phone while the back up battery is charging.
Thank you everyone for the links and feedback.
Also - is there something like this - http://www.daydeal.com/product.php?productid=27821&cat=3792 that comes with the cradle AND the second battery THAT PEOPLE RECOMMEND. Thanks
I am in the same boat. I am reluctant to purchase batteries off ebay for fear they are fakes. There are way too many "too good to be true" deals. I made that mistake with my Tilt and I am reluctant to go down the same path.
Daydeal.com looks like they might be legit.
That site looks ok, and the cradle looks good including the dock for a second battery. Has anyone on the forums picked one of these up?
dwight.
I picked up a extra Seido battery, but am also hoping for some type of 2nd charger or dock. This one looks rather nice, but I wonder if there are any other alternatives (such as an official HTC dock)?
If anyone does pick this up, i'd love to hear an opinion on it.
pick up the seidio 1500mah extended battery. it is really your only option. it easily adds 2-3 more hours of usability.
Pulled this off another thread. Looks better than the one on daydeal.

I purchased this one - http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=350158863101
I received it in a little under a week. It is black, very slick looking and the replacement battery says htc innovation on it so it looks legit. it came with both a usb connection to the computer and a power cord adapter to plug into the wall. Is pretty small and compact. I will report back after using the replacement battery once it has charged for a while.
TVDinner,
Hows that battery doing for? I'm thinking of buying same deal today.
see this for emergency charge I buy them and never has a problem with runing down power finaly I can use my GPS with offroad map on mountain

or there is cheaper Solar Charger like this

I got this one off of eBay and it' great Clicky
The base is nice and sturdy, not like the cheap crap the one for my N95 was. And the spare batter lasts for along time as well, so it's all good
I picked up this dock (w/spare battery charger) for $16.83:
http://www.amazon.com/Premium-Multi-Function-Cradle-Touch/dp/B001I1LJ8M
along with this spare battery for $8.59:
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.16225
From my visual comparison, the battery looks almost identical to my original as far as the printing goes except the new one is white where the old one is more of a really light gray. The meter on the battery from dealextreme doesn't seem as accurate as the OEM battery but it seems to hold a charge well. I guess that's the trade off for not buying an OEM battery.
The cradle itself is really sturdy but I've noticed that if I leave my Fuze in it for too long, Activesync loses the connection and I have to unplug everything and reconnect to get it to recognize (this doesn't happen with direct USB connection). However, it will continue to charge even if Activesync loses the connection. The cradle comes with a miniUSB cable and an AC adapter (barrel plug) that can be plugged into the rear. The spare battery charger will only work when the AC adapter is plugged in but either connection allows the phone to charge (both connections at the same time is not recommended).
My battery and doc
Had the same problem, and found (with my previous Hermes) that having two regular batteries and a doc that could charge the phone and extra battery at the same time was the best solution. I went to the AT&T store and bought the extra battery for $35 or so. At mobileplanet.com (eXpansys) I bought the extra battery charger/dock http://www.expansys-usa.com/p.aspx?i=172873 that has been great since. One word of caution (if you care)- the dock/charger comes with a wall charger cord that DOES NOT end in a mini USB. Therefore the dock uses the standard round 5V connection instead. Since mine stays stationary next to the bed (i grab the batt and phone each day when I leave, and put them back at night) this was a non issue. However, unlike the HTC branded one for the Hermes, the battery is flush in the charger, rather than standing up at an angle behind the phone, so this dock is a bit larger 2.5" by 4" then previous versions, but does all you are asking for.
USB Charger w/Backup Battery Support
I found the same charger on Amazon.com for a few dollars less if some of you are worried about DayDeal. Here's the link:
http://www.amazon.com/Hotsync-Deskt...GGPS/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1241719899&sr=8-3
I bought this today and am heading across the country on a trip. I'll report back on how well it works.
Has anyone tried this spare battery charger?
http://www.seidioonline.com/product-p/bd3-bcsi3htchx1-bk.htm
I don't really need a cradle. If I needed to, I could connect a USB cable to this and charge me phone as well as the spare battery.
Not really sure if its worth the price or not.
Charging Station/Dock and Spare Battery
So I received the spare battery and charging station that I ordered from Amazon. It isn't anything spectacular, but feels solid and works like a champ. It came with a 120v A/C Wall adapter and an extra USB cable so I could either use it to connect my Fuze directly to the computer by USB, or just plug it in to an outlet for charging. Works great. I would recommend it, but I haven't had much experience yet, just charged the spare and swapped the batteries out of the device.
Whos got Extended battery on there Att Fuze ?

Can a non oem car charger kill battery?

i bought this car charger from ebay from my vibrant for 10 bux. when i went to canada this was like 3 weeks ago and since i got back my battery life was never the same it dies pretty quick. what can cause this
I would avoid the cheap generic chargers. Go with the T-Mobile or Samsung OE car chargers. Purchase a new battery if you think it's the source, they're pretty cheap on eBay.
I don't think the charger did that. I have made some Frankenstein chargers that have never affected the battery. I would guess the charge controller in the phone crapped out, but not because of the non OEM charger.
The thing you plug into the wall or cigarette lighter doesn't know or care about what phone or battery you have. it just gives the power. it doesn't tell the phone to give you the "UNPLUG YOUR PHONE" message, the controller in the phone does that.
Go to powerstream.com for info on cells, batteries, and charging.
Think about this...if you have your phone plugged into your car BEFORE you start it, what happens? The charger goes dead, then comes back. That is way more stressful on ANY charger.

Off-topic, but it is bad on the battery to leave the phone plugged in all night, with the phone asleep but not off (i.e., the phone remains plugged in long after it finished recharging)? I do this, as I suspect many others do... I was under the impression that the phone cuts the cycle so there's no "overcharge" issue. Thanks.
chargers shouldn'ty hurt your battery. I've NEVER owned a OEM car charger in my life, and you know now that i think about it I think the crappy $12.00 charger in my car is the same one I bought for my Razor back in 2005, I've used it for my Jasjar, N95, my Gf's chocolate, her Blackberry and now my Vibrant no issues.
as for overcharging, phones like most electronics, should have a built in switch that switches to trickle charge after completion. also batteries no longer use memory Cell technology so again no issues there. I only charge my phones at night and I leave them all night no issues. no dead batteries, no exploding phones, no overheating etc.

Problems with new wall charger. Discharging?

I'm having a problem charging my phone. Long story short, I left my phone charger at work and can't easily go back to get it until next week. I went to Best Buy today and bought another wall charger. It said it was compatible with the HTC EVO, and since the Shift also has microUSB and the same battery, I assumed it would be compatible.
I plugged the phone in and it seemed to be working fine, but a few minutes later I checked on it again and it wasn't charging, although it was still plugged in. I unplugged it and looked at the Battery Status when I plugged it back in. First it says Charging (AC) for about 12 seconds, then changes to Charging (USB) for about 14 seconds. After that the battery icon stops doing the charge animation and the Battery Status says Discharging (instead of the usual Not Charging when it's not plugged in at all). I have tried rebooting but it does this every time.
Anyone have any ideas what's wrong? And if I have to just take it back, how can I be sure this won't happen again? Has someone else bought a charger at Best Buy that actually works for the Shift?
Not sure if it makes a difference but I'm running Evervolv.
Any ideas would be appreciated, thanks guys!
Well I've learned my lesson and only use chargers of the same brand as my phone. With a HTC phone ill only use a HTC charger. I've had a phone just completely die from using a off brand charger and had to get a new phone.
Sent from my CM7 powered Shift
Take it back to best buy and try again, might have just been a faulty unit.
About the only problem I have with chargers are the cheap gas station car chargers, I use boost chargers MOTO cliq,Droid,g2(HTC) them all work fine but the gas station chargers just keep my battery where it was when I plugged it in no matter what I do it won't charge but it won't run dead either I dunno its weird
Sent from my PG06100 using Tapatalk
Thanks for the responses. I think I'll try to exchange it for a different brand and see how that works.
yah i would only use htc chargers... i used to have a longer amazon usb cable i connected and charged with my htc adapter. now i can only use it to transfer data, no charging.
I came to the Shift from the Palm Pre. When I was looking to get extra wall and car chargers for the Pre I was told to be sure and get 1000mA output chargers, that anything less than that was not powerful enough to charge the Pre. I have used those chargers with no problems on the Shift.
On a trip in my girlfriends car I plugged her Shift into her car charger. She also had a Pre and now a Shift, so the same chargers. I noticed on the phone it said "Discharging" I then realized I had replaced her car charger a couple of days earlier because it was falling apart with a new one I found in a drawer. When I looked at the charger it was rated at 750mA. I replaced it with the 1000mA charger and have not had the issue since.

How many chargers do you have/own..

First thread.. not here to start any issues..
Well quick question, how many chargers do you guys use/own? Since it's Dash charge and we are unable to use any other bricks due to the Dash Charging capabilities how many should a OP user have to be fully effecient.
For me.. i will have three when my new shipment comes in from OP. Used the 5$ they gave me for the delay and took off shipping (paid 29$) for an extra charger. I also bought a 3t charger on Offer Up for 5$ lol. and the stock charger.
I just dont want to be left with a dead phone when i can easily find a socket and plug it in for 15 min for a nice boost.. :good::good:
I bought an additional one to make the total of 2. One will permanently be in my bedroom where I plug it in overnight, and the other will be downstairs in my den/office where I spend most my time whenever I'm at home, during the day.
I'll also just be using that second charger as a to-go charger if I ever need to take it with me, so 2 total chargers seem like the perfect amount! I don't want to spend any more money on a third charger anyway lol
I'm in the same boat. Just couldn't believe someone was selling their dash charger for 5$ on offer up.. had to pick it up. Messed up part about it, the night before I spent 30 on a new charger.
I've bought some micro usb to usb C adaptors so I can still utilise all my old cables. I don't always need to dash charge.
I saw the video on how fast it charged with the dash car charger where it was pitted up against the S8 with both running Google Maps. OP5 went from 2% to 43% in 30 min and S8 went from 2% to 12%in the same time. When I saw that I changed my from an extra brick to the car charger (which came with a cable of it's own). This way in the car for 20-30 min will be fine when I'm out and about. If I'm not going to be with my car I'll just grab the brick.
With that said, I'm getting like up to 9.5 hours on a charge (averaging 8.5 hours SOT) so once its charged, is there really a need most days to worry about charging it mid day?

Says who?
You can recharge the OP5 using any 5V charger. The limitation is that it will take longer to recharge the battery. But that shouldn't be an issue if you recharge overnight.
Also because the battery lasts so long on a charge you don't need to do a full recharge in order to get a day's worth of charge. Indeed slower recharging and less than full recharging should also help to extend the useful life of the battery.
So for all of these reasons I intend to use only the single Dash charger that came with my OP5 plus all the other "regular" chargers I've accumulated over the years. I've already bought USB and microUSB to USB-C adapters to use with my charger collection.
P.S. The OP5 indicates what type of charger it detects:
5V 0.5A as found on PC USB ports shows "Charging slowly."
5V 1.8A as found on a typical smartphone charger shows, "Charging."
Dash charger shows, "Dash Charging."
I've bought 4 dash chargers. 1 at my desk in my house, 1 at my bed, 1 in my office at my work and one in my travel bag. An there is also always a fully charged 10.000mah powerbank in there... I did the same with my handicapped Galaxy S6 haha. But Now I figure out my OnePlus 5 goes on and on and on... without breaking a sweat hahahaha.
I've got 3 of them... One at home, one at work, one in my bag.
Stupid question, cuz I haven't tried yet and I'm wondering... if you can use the charger to charge other devices? I know, it won't charge them faster or blah blah but do you think I can use it to charge my MP3 player or some other phone? Or is it purely proprietary and has something more than the other chargers?
Unfortunately the QC 2.0 and 3.0 blocks I have, like 11 of them are super slow, as noted previously. I only have the one that came with the phone for my house and I got a car charger discounted with the phone. I might end up getting a third for work, not sure. Is there ANY knockoff 3rd party charger than can charge similar to dash charge?
I have one dash charger, the one that came with the phone. I have a bunch of non-dash charger/cable because the previous phone supported QC 3.0. I know this phone does not support QC, but it charges up the phone pretty quick. Not as quick as the dash but quick enough for me. Unless if you are on the phone every minute like playing games or watching a movie, you should be able to get a full day's worth on a single charge.
I have one dash charger which came with phone plus car dash charger. If you are not in hurry and charging it overnight why would it matter dash or regular charger to use?
Phone has so good battery life you don't need to put extra chargers anywhere you go...
But it's personal decision.
PS: usually, if you are charging lipo battery slowly, it goes easy on it and may prolong life of the battery.
As far as dash chargers, I only have the one that came with the phone, which I barely use. I mostly charge my phone directly from a usb C port on my computer when I'm working from home. At night I use an iOrange-E cable that I connect directly to my usb-A/usb-C wall outlet to top it off and unplug it right before going to sleep. Since I'm not a heavy user, a single charge pretty much does it for me and I haven't had the need to use Dash charging to top off my phone.
I don't understand having a bunch of these chargers. Unless you work or live tin can, you should not struggle to get a days worth of battery.
The only extra charger someone should need would be the car. Plug your dash charger in your living room / den, plug a standard usb c charger in your bedroom, and a dash charger in your car.
I can't imagine this setup not working for 90% or more of users.
It's weird, I have 3, I keep one in my laptop bag, I have the dash car charger, and another wall plug I keep in my room. I have maybe used the one I keep in my laptop bag twice. I mostly use the one in my car at the start or end of the day as I commute about 45 minutes to work everyday. Battery on this phone has been better than my oneplus 3 by a noticeable margin.
I only have one dash charger. Just a regular USB-C for typical charging - why would you need it for overnight charges?
The dash charger definitely came in handy today though, since I visited a theme park all day (but came prepared of course).
Battery on this phone has been great. I also went to a water park yesterday, phone was on 15% when I got home.. plugged it in to the dash charger and 40 min later I was in the 90s. Don't know what they did for it to charge that fast, but I'm one happy OP customer.
