Looking for a spare battery charger - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Accessories

I have had 5 different "cradle" chargers that have failed.
I don't need one that charges the phone or uses as a sync charger.
I just want a standalone separate battery charger. I'd prefer if it plugged directly into the wall instead of via a cable but either works ok I guess

why not have a look on ebay?
J

Can those found on Ebay be considered reliable? I was hoping that maybe someone has already purchased something similar for the Kaiser and wouldn't mind sharing their thoughts and opinions. I would love to have a cradle for my Tilts so I can charge them and their extra battery. However, a simple battery charger would be nice as well.

I bought this cradle and I'm very happy. Working excellent.
HTC also has a cradle/charger, and though it looks much nicer and taking less space, the price is exaggerated.
There is a a battery charger as a stand alone. From the picture the battery is definitely not genuine, but the price worth it even if you'll throw the battery away. I don't know about the reliability of this seller/product though.

I bought this http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230228595112 did not receive it yet but looks like what I want. Even though it is only USB but I think I can hook it with a USB wall charger that will also charge it direct

Here's one from Sedio with flip-out AC prongs;

I bought one from ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=250215286540&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=015
It was very inexpensive, has flip-out ac prongs, and works great. It arrived in about 10 days from HK.

Do you know if this cradle can charge the extended battery (the one that is 3000mah)? I asked the ebay seller that you reference the same question and he said that he thinks it can, but he was not sure.
Thanks,

kcrumbley, sorry, I don't have the 3000mAh battery so I can't help you.

I bought a 2 pack of these chargers on Woot a while back. They have worked great for me charging spare batteries. Haven't seen them for sale anywhere else (not that I have looked too hard). Highly recommend them if you can find them.

I have one of those cradles as well and aside from having to do a little 'pin tweaking' with a pair of needle nose pliers (to get the cradle pins to line up with the battery contacts) it works fine. I bought it as a bundle with a spare 1350 mAh battery as well but since the larger capacity batteries still have the same contacts and basic sizes apart from thickness (after all they do fit in the same phone as a standard thickness battery) the higher capacity battery should fit fine. It'll just take longer to charge.

I purchased the Seido charger and it did not work, nor did the replacement they sent. The problem with the design is that it is a universal charger that has inserts for different batteries. Unfortunately the tolerances are not tight and the insert has trouble making contact with the main charger.

charging a spare battery

Bit of a dilemma on this one.
With my previous XDA IIs i could use the cradle to charge up a spare battery as I often used it to watch films whilst travelling by train so a spare battery was a must for the return journey.
No that the xda EXEC doesnt' come with a cradle what would be the best soloution to charging a new battery , is there any other option rather than having to swap a fully charged battery already in the phone to a spare and then just do it that way or is there an external soloution i coould use?
Extend Battery life - possible solution?
I agree with you there - I had a M1000 before my Exec & it was real handy to get an instant full battery charge using the spare.
In response to your query:
Don't know if this would be any good to ya -
http://www.thepocketsolution.com/Me...ry_Code=spv_m5000_accessories&Product_Count=9
Extends the battery life using A4 batteries.
Personally - I have a spare mini USB cable I carry with me to hijack my work (and other people's) USB ports for a quick top up whenever I needed it.
(Some trains provide plug sockets to be used for laptops, etc - you could use this - but that would mean carrying about a big awkward plug!)
Yeah thats one soloution, I had already seen that and considered it, If anyone ever produced a spare battery charger for the EXEC would make a bomb, I bought the cradle type charger from expansys but if only that would make a combined charger and spare battery charger in one unit that would be perfect.
extra battery....

8800MaH external battery for Universal. MAD JUICE. Movies music travel... whatever... nice.

You can use 4x2500 Mah or better rechargables in the battery extender of Knight_Mayor so thats even more then 10.000 Mah.
Also you can carry 4 extra charged batteries with you to replace them.
So it's a much cheaper and better solution.
I think the only viable option at the moment for myself is to just buy a spare battery and stick in the exec and charge it up and then replace with the other and charge it and then just carry the spare battery around with me like I used to.
Any other soloution involves carrying around another piece of kit which kind of defeats the object
bit of a PITA but until someone releases/creates a cradle and spare battery charger seems the best way.

I used to do that with my MDA II.
But now I don't have a cradle which can recharge a second battery seperatedly, and I don't have a second battery.
The good part about this battery extender is that it's small, it recharges your universal and you don't have to take out your battery, no need to turn off your universal, and no need to reenter your pin code.
So in fact it's a mobile charger, when you are walking or have it in your briefcase keep it fully charged and when you want to use the universal just unplug it.
That Extender is great and cheap.
Shipping cost worldwide is only 4 dollar.
Total cost = 14,95 + 4 dollar worldwide by airmail letter post = 18,95.
The best deal you can get.
I'm gonna order one myself today .

6000mAh external battery w/ solar charger for £15 !

I came across this on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170212826483
It's a solar charger with 6000mAh internal battery. Output voltage is 5.5V and output current 1A. For me it seems to be perfect for our Kaisers.
I doubt you would get even external battery with such capacity for this price (it's £20 including P+P to Slovakia). And this thing even charges itself "on its own".
I will be probably buying one in a few days, but I would like to know if anybody has any experience with or opinions about this (such) device. Please share.
In my understanding it's only a solar-charger not an extended battery.
It would be nice to get an extended battery included the solar charger for Kaiser.
It does have 6000mAh acumulator inside and it can be charged via (included) AC adapter. So in a sense - it is (and can be used as) external battery extender.
Yes, actually it is so, but then it's too heavy to carry.
My wish is to have an extended battery with solar charger on the back cover. I know its just a wish, but would be a nice accessory.
Oh, I see what you are up to. IMO that would be inpractical, since you would have to have your Kaiser laying top-side-up to charge. Something like this might come to your interest (if they would make it for Kaiser, that is): http://gpsforless.co.uk/product_details.php?id=12048 It's an iPhone case that has Solar panel on the front of it.
Yes, something like that. I don't feel unpractical until I can find a smooth surface to lay down kaiser on LCD panel. Before some Nokia model came with such solar panel, I think great solution.

just have an off topic question. What battery are u using now? If some extended, where did u buy it? I cant seem to find a store here in Slovakia that sells batteries for Kaiser.
I'm using Mugen Power 1500mAh.

I currently use only OEM 1350mAh that came with my Kaiser. I have, however, bought this extended 2800mAh battery from ebay, which I am still waiting to arrive. I think ebay is the way to go for things like these - they are very expensive and hard to get in standard shops in Slovakia.
And I am very much considering the external battery w/ solar charger mentioned in my first post. I would use it especially for long (couple of days) bike trips that I will be doing. And £20 price for such thing is extremely good price

I was thinking about buying a new battery, but the fact that I will have to buy a new case also is stopping me from buying it. Give us a little feedback about the battery and also about the solar charger when u will get them. I am really curious.
Okay I will. I am not yet definitely decided if I will buy that solar charger, though.

Not really (may be 2hrs longer uptime), but I needed a spare battery as well. You also can buy 2000-3000mAh battery, those should be significantly longer uptime, but they come with a wider back-cover.
Okay, thanks for info.
@all:
I have just bought that 6000mAh solar charger. Will inform you in this thread, when I recieve it.
i too have recently ordered this, hope it is as good as it claims to be, or at least nearly as good, hope I don't have to wait too long for it to be shipped from Hong Kong
I have been astonished by its specification (and price), too. If it is going to be as good as it claims then the money spent will be surely worth it.
do you guys know if you can change the internal battery? for that price i skeptical about the quality of the 6000mah battery. can the solar panel charge the phone directly?
i don't know, i am waiting on delivery any time from 3 days til a week away from recieving it, will tell you all about it with pics if i get it before omikr0n
If the battery is totally dead, can it run the phone on solar power alone?

BARGAIN: DeskTop Charger & 2x 1340mAh Batteries

DeskTop Charger & 2x (Yes 2) 1340mAh Batteries for £15 (AU $ 31) including delivery to the UK - Gotta be a bargain?

That´s a REAL bargain, I am buying the "kit" right now. But warantee doesn´t cover exploding non-original batteris Hmmm.... Hope it´s good quality.
charge current ?
But since I do not see any wall mount adapter, max. charge current will be limited to 500mA.
When charging phone and battery together, time to charge would be around 7 hours. Only 3.5 ~ 4 hours for phone

Guys - The order arrived on Tuesday - I've been away on business and just got back but got the package just before I left. It was sent recorded delivery and well packaged....
The desk-top charger and 2 x batteries (they look like OEM batteries but dont expect they are) I unwrapped one and took it and the charger with me.
Ive been using the replacement battery for the last 2 days and to be honest it seems to be better than my original?
The desktop charger is very good - good build quality and pretty light in terms of weight - the only slight drawback is that the charging status LED's are very bright but thats not a huge issue?
I will post some photo's when I get a chance....
Overall: VERY IMPRESSED & DEFINATELY A BARGAIN!!!!
.
Thanks!
Just ordered one as well based on your feedback
Blob8me,
Thank you for your comments.
I ordered the discussed items today. £15 for x2 batteries and a charger is very good value.
As I see it these devices can be thirsty. For that reason I used x3 batteries and an extra charger for my Tytn ii and Tytn i. It is easy to carry an extra charged battery in a leather sleeve the size of a matchbox. A small inconvenience when one considers that often the alternative would be to carry a laptop around - bit of a nuisance when one cycles in London or flying somewhere and want to listen to music or watch media en route.
Rgs,
J
Ordered mine today - the exchange rate must have changed in my favour, cost me £12.62 for the 2 batteries and desktop charger.
Hello.
Hoes HTC Touch Pro support hot-swappable batteries?
(Battery change without soft reset)
Bye
Yes, during the battery switch it runs on either solar or nuclear power, you need to select which one you prefer in Settings/System/Power Options......
Seriously, no when you remove the battery the unit goes off completely. So no hot-swapping
Got mine a couple of days ago. Charger seems to be pretty well built. The usb cable that came with it was also of thicker quality, not those el-cheapo type. The LED sure are bright! A little too bright for me! hehe! The 2 batteries looked pretty good in built quality. I was kind of impressed at first glance.
Here comes my 'bad' news... after charging for 10 hours or so, the LED stayed constant..supposedly indicating that the battery is fully charged. But when i popped the battery into my Touch Pro, it just refused to turn on! Both batteries show the same problem. And I was extra careful to align the terminals to the charging point. What a let-down!
anyone else face this? I know Blob8me is satisfied with his...what abt others? care to comment?
Tried soft reset?
I mean:
Turn off.
Switch battery to a new one.
Press soft reset.
I also got them this week. Both batteries worked fine. The only thing I noticed is that they are a little thicker making it a little more difficult to put the back cover back on.

Hi soundguy1202
Sorry to hear you've had a problem with the batteries - and with both of them which seems odd - if it was just one of the batteries then maybe I wouldnt have been suprised?
Did you try the soft reset as mentioned above (not that it should have needed that? Let us know how you get on......
I'm still using mine and still happy - I did notice, as peebee01 mentions that the replacement batteries we a micron or 2 thicker but actually seem to be getting better performance from them than the original OEM battery?
.
well...i tried to soft reset... even to the extent of replacing the back cover first.. but to no avail...for both batteries. guess i got a bad charger? even when i put the battery in the phone and plug in the wall charger unit, it doesn't turn on. of course, this may be due to the battery no being charged in the first place! anyway, i will try get a meter and measure the battery output.
my batteries where also a tad thick, like u said...one was manageable but one needed a little pressure to put in place!
Also funny to see they print "HTC innovation" on them, but its horizontal vs. vertical on the orignal one. Plus on the back there is a serial number, but both batteries I have have the same serial..... That's real Chinese copying ;-)
Mine arrived today. Damn those led's are bright! I might be noobing it up, but am i the only one that's having trouble getting the batteries to stay in the dock?

Extra Battery Question For Fuze

Hello all
I value the opinion of the members here so I wanted to ask an updated battery question for my FUZE. There are many threads here about different batteries, but most are old. I am looking for current info if any.
Background:
1) I do not like the way the extended batteries look and how huge they make the phone.
2) So I am looking for a second backup battery (regular size) that I can have charged and with me on business trips to use when first battery runs out of juice.
THE QUESTION -
Can anyone post current links to backup batteries they have purchased that either have cradles with them, or some other external way to charge them outside of the phone. I need to be able to use my phone while the back up battery is charging.
Thank you everyone for the links and feedback.
Also - is there something like this - http://www.daydeal.com/product.php?productid=27821&cat=3792 that comes with the cradle AND the second battery THAT PEOPLE RECOMMEND. Thanks
I am in the same boat. I am reluctant to purchase batteries off ebay for fear they are fakes. There are way too many "too good to be true" deals. I made that mistake with my Tilt and I am reluctant to go down the same path.
Daydeal.com looks like they might be legit.
That site looks ok, and the cradle looks good including the dock for a second battery. Has anyone on the forums picked one of these up?
dwight.
I picked up a extra Seido battery, but am also hoping for some type of 2nd charger or dock. This one looks rather nice, but I wonder if there are any other alternatives (such as an official HTC dock)?
If anyone does pick this up, i'd love to hear an opinion on it.
pick up the seidio 1500mah extended battery. it is really your only option. it easily adds 2-3 more hours of usability.
Pulled this off another thread. Looks better than the one on daydeal.
http://mobile.brando.com.hk/prod_detail.php?prod_id=03819&dept_id=039&cat_id=1149
I purchased this one - http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=350158863101
I received it in a little under a week. It is black, very slick looking and the replacement battery says htc innovation on it so it looks legit. it came with both a usb connection to the computer and a power cord adapter to plug into the wall. Is pretty small and compact. I will report back after using the replacement battery once it has charged for a while.
TVDinner,
Hows that battery doing for? I'm thinking of buying same deal today.
see this for emergency charge I buy them and never has a problem with runing down power finaly I can use my GPS with offroad map on mountain

http://cgi.ebay.com/SOLAR-BATTERY-P...5|66:2|65:12|39:1|240:1318|301:0|293:1|294:50
I got this one off of eBay and it' great Clicky
The base is nice and sturdy, not like the cheap crap the one for my N95 was. And the spare batter lasts for along time as well, so it's all good
I picked up this dock (w/spare battery charger) for $16.83:
http://www.amazon.com/Premium-Multi-Function-Cradle-Touch/dp/B001I1LJ8M
along with this spare battery for $8.59:
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.16225
From my visual comparison, the battery looks almost identical to my original as far as the printing goes except the new one is white where the old one is more of a really light gray. The meter on the battery from dealextreme doesn't seem as accurate as the OEM battery but it seems to hold a charge well. I guess that's the trade off for not buying an OEM battery.
The cradle itself is really sturdy but I've noticed that if I leave my Fuze in it for too long, Activesync loses the connection and I have to unplug everything and reconnect to get it to recognize (this doesn't happen with direct USB connection). However, it will continue to charge even if Activesync loses the connection. The cradle comes with a miniUSB cable and an AC adapter (barrel plug) that can be plugged into the rear. The spare battery charger will only work when the AC adapter is plugged in but either connection allows the phone to charge (both connections at the same time is not recommended).
My battery and doc
Had the same problem, and found (with my previous Hermes) that having two regular batteries and a doc that could charge the phone and extra battery at the same time was the best solution. I went to the AT&T store and bought the extra battery for $35 or so. At mobileplanet.com (eXpansys) I bought the extra battery charger/dock http://www.expansys-usa.com/p.aspx?i=172873 that has been great since. One word of caution (if you care)- the dock/charger comes with a wall charger cord that DOES NOT end in a mini USB. Therefore the dock uses the standard round 5V connection instead. Since mine stays stationary next to the bed (i grab the batt and phone each day when I leave, and put them back at night) this was a non issue. However, unlike the HTC branded one for the Hermes, the battery is flush in the charger, rather than standing up at an angle behind the phone, so this dock is a bit larger 2.5" by 4" then previous versions, but does all you are asking for.
USB Charger w/Backup Battery Support
I found the same charger on Amazon.com for a few dollars less if some of you are worried about DayDeal. Here's the link:
http://www.amazon.com/Hotsync-Deskt...GGPS/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1241719899&sr=8-3
I bought this today and am heading across the country on a trip. I'll report back on how well it works.
Has anyone tried this spare battery charger?
http://www.seidioonline.com/product-p/bd3-bcsi3htchx1-bk.htm
I don't really need a cradle. If I needed to, I could connect a USB cable to this and charge me phone as well as the spare battery.
Not really sure if its worth the price or not.
Charging Station/Dock and Spare Battery
So I received the spare battery and charging station that I ordered from Amazon. It isn't anything spectacular, but feels solid and works like a champ. It came with a 120v A/C Wall adapter and an extra USB cable so I could either use it to connect my Fuze directly to the computer by USB, or just plug it in to an outlet for charging. Works great. I would recommend it, but I haven't had much experience yet, just charged the spare and swapped the batteries out of the device.
Whos got Extended battery on there Att Fuze ?
Is it worth the bulk
& which one to get ?

The poster that commented on the slant must have seen the same pictures I posted about on another forum. Fortunately, I was corrected by someone who had bought the Mugen 3600.
Across the forums, those who've tried both pretty much all prefer the power & size of the Seidio & the look of the Seidio cover. Plus it's cheaper.
I got my Seidio 3500 Thursday night. The instructions say to do an 8 hour initial charge before putting the battery in the phone & that performance would increase after 5-6 full charges. I did the initial charge Thursday night, put the battery in the phone about 7:30 Friday morning, was down to 32% about 4pm Saturday. I put the battery on the charger Saturday night, put it back in the phone 6am Sunday morning, am at 38% as I write -- slight improvement. It looks like a fully conditioned Seidio 3500 ought to easily go two full days...maybe longer.
I'm using the unlocked UMTS version on AT&T.
I have this battery, bought it on day one because I use a lot of data with my phone and normally, even in Edge, a 8 hour battery is CRITICAL. I can't say what the original battery can do, but this battery is AWESOME!!!! I'm getting greater than 5 days of battery on this huge guy! Even when I'm in range of the 3G/HSDPA area, I'm getting at least 2 days.
I use GoodLink with my corporate email and it keeps the data connection HOT 24x7. Usually drains a battery VERY quickly.
Another pro is that the Seidio cover is non-skid black rubber coated plastic. While not matching the "pretty" glossy finish, I like it better because the phone doesn't slide around on surfaces.
I have one issue and I'm not sure if anyone else has this battery and have experienced this issue. But I can't charge this phone/battery with any USB cable I've tried through my USB ports. I've tried 3 different cables, including the included Palm cable, powered hubs and monitors with powered hubs.
I can't figure out what's going on here... Any help here???

I can leave mine in the phone & charge it using my Palm cable or the retractable Seidio cable. I also have a Mobi Products cradle -- phone with normal sized battery in the front slot, the Seidio 3500 in the spare battery slot, both fully charged when I get up in the morning. Sounds like you might have an issue either with the phone itself or your USB ports. Are the ports fully powered USB 2.0 compatible?

You must have the windows mobile device center/activesync installed on your pc in order for the device to receive power.
I found it for less $$$

I'm using the unlocked UMTS version on AT&T.
I have this battery, bought it on day one because I use a lot of data with my phone and normally, even in Edge, a 8 hour battery is CRITICAL. I can't say what the original battery can do, but this battery is AWESOME!!!! I'm getting greater than 5 days of battery on this huge guy! Even when I'm in range of the 3G/HSDPA area, I'm getting at least 2 days.
I use GoodLink with my corporate email and it keeps the data connection HOT 24x7. Usually drains a battery VERY quickly.

In the Treo Pro manual you will read that the phone takes much longer to charge on a USB connection. In other words it is suggested to use the AC adapter and the usb cable to get a powerful and fast charge. That being said maybe the battery needs and AC charge and USB wont suffice.
I have read so many reviews and your problem is a one of a kinder.
About getting this battery cheaper.
Go seidioonline.com and enter coupon code: ITB0630 for 10% off an order over $50.
They sell battery $65 ($5 cheaper than most) plus you get 10% off.
My total purchase was $64.35 shipped.
YAY!
Go get em.

I don't have a Treo (yet) but I've had the same on other devices.
The thing about a USB cable is that if no driver exists to tell the device what it's connected to, it doesn't know whether it's USB2 or USB1, so can't assume there's much power to use. (though I would have thought USB1 still presents a useful amount).
Some devices charge slowly on plain USB without software, some don't charge at all. Of those that do trickle charge, the rate can be less than the power consumed by keeping the backlight on and/or running the GPS, so all that happens is the device stays awake and runs flat quicker.
Sometimes there's a pin in the connector to indicate "this is a charger that supplies what's needed", and you can get an adaptor cable to use with generic USB cables or chargers.
Was thinking of ordering one on eBay found HERE.
Would be around €40 + €17 = €57. But this would mean it has to be shipped from the States to the Netherlands. Why isn't their any battery available a bit closer to home
At this time I get just two days if I'm lucky. Doesn't seem that to many use the 3500 mah from Seidio though. No more users tried this baby?
