3G download speed? - P3470 General

This is maybe a dumb question but would it be possible to somehow enable 3G on this HTC?
I notice the 3G icon when I get connected online but the download speed is still based on GPRS and really slow to browse the internet as you might have noticed.
Any thoughts on this matter?

My download is based on GPRS too and it's very slow, but sometimes it connect in Edge! And is more faster! I appreciate is somebody know how to connect with 3G
Ps: sorry for my bad english!

The Pharos does not have the necessary hardware for 3G networks. You are and always will be stuck with Edge on this phone. Unless someone finds and manage to activate a possible WLAN chip.

HTC Wizard as Access Point?

It would be really neat to be able to put my Wizard into 'host' mode on the wifi, and share my EDGE access out to wifi clients nearby. It'd be like having my own wifi hotspot in my pocket.
Is this possible?
this post and most others like them gets ignored by most of this forum.
Or so it seems from my month on and off reading.
Ofcoarse this is possible?
will software or service agreements allow it? most likly not.

I wonder why, I think its a nice thing to have, and there exists AP with 3g cards like LINKSYS WRT54G3G
/L
with software it would be possible i think
just a matter of making the device rount
the wifi to the connection
but edge and even 3g is not really fast enough to share with anybody without comming down to a crawl
which is prob why there have been no demand and so
no developing for the field
gprs/edge > BT > PC >WiFi > WLAN
easy to do, conect to data service throught your computer with BT or USB then in settings share internet connection (via Wifi) with other users.

another painfull way, but may work for u.
I think it has something to do either with no one caring/caring about terms of service possibly.

Which Method do you use to Connect to the Internet?

Nothing to gain here except idle curiosity.
For connecting to the Internet, be that to have my mail forwarded, having programs update their information or just general surfing ~ which method do you use to connect?
Myself, even though at home I could quite easily connect to my home network or at work use the Hospital's server, I still prefer to use my Mobile Account [T-Mobile in my case].
However, I notice in several other topics that members mention they use wireless as opposed to their sim card's network.
Is there a particular reason in changing from one to the other?
I personally do not have a valid reason to opt in and out of different connection methods and simply let the machine connect to the phone network whenever it wants.
So... there's my curiosity released. Would anyone wish to share their method of choice!

I'm connected to the internet via HSDPA 24/7. Only if I need sth really fast I use my W-LAN connection.
I use HSDPA/3G when im outside. When im at home i use wifi/w-lan.
At street or office I'm connected to the internet via HSDPA, at home via Wifi or usb.
Wifi at home. HSDPA outside.
But HSDPA seems to never want to switch off even though I have a good wifi connection. Urgh.

The combination HSDPA + O² + germany = Not stable
Haven´t you noticed these HSDPA lags? They aren´t the result of bad connection, they are the result of line drop or as O² called it - sleeping connection. I have confirmations from many major german cities.

I know that, but I encounter these lags only in a few areas. Where I usually go I don't have any problems at all with HSDPA. In fact I had more problems with HSDPA on my old Hermes than on my new Blackstone.

I don't know. It's a bit annoying as I don't want the HSDPA on when I am using Wifi.

HSDPA is automatically off when u turn on wifi. i think u misunderstand sumthing.
On most networks HSDPA never disconnects, so if you then go and connect to wifi the HSDPA will remain connected, just unused. You can check this with the HD's title bar icons.
Doesn't make any difference though, HSDPA being "connected" means nothing really. It's little different from your phone being on and registered to the mobile network.
Oh! thx for the info. I thought it disconnect automatically.
BTW, if u tap on the title bar as u said, u can disconnect the HSDPA directly from there!
I use Edge all the time since I'm on T-Mobile USA. In fact, I'm posting this message via Edge while I'm waiting to renew my license. I only use WiFi when I have to d/l any files. I'm pretty happy with Edge speeds where I live, commute and work.

Hmm. Thanks for that. I just don't want it to try and be clever and increase my wifi speed by using a bit of HSDPA on the side (and hence using up my data quota).

Internet Connection

Hey, im new here , so hi.
I have a XDA Orbit with o2 in the UK.
I wondered if there was anyway of increasing my internet connection download, as i got a hack for a USB drive to use your sim with unlimited internet connection, and it works, but im only getting 0.03 mgbs, and wondered if anyone had any tips on increasing your download.
cheers
236.8 kbit/s is the max for edge
nothing any software can change
and thats theoretically and with max quality signal
as in what you will never get
i need your usb hack software.....please
i need your usb hack software to try out here in Nigeria. we have cases of flaws in telecoms internet platforms, and i think i can get a working unlimited internet connection down here..who knws, i might be able to tunnel you to my connection using OPENVPN..theoritically giving you a stable but guaranteed speed.
am not sure it will increase speeds though, as UMTS/3G gives about 300Kbits/s
but you never can tell..waht might come up...

[Q] Huawei E392 3 or 4G only

Hi
Does anyone know a way please to allow only 3 or 4G connections on this or any other USB modem? We are using them on a pep link router fitted on a yacht and want the connections to drop when we lose 3 or 4G range.
Problem now is they drop to 2G as we lose range and the router still sees alive connection and wont fail over over to VSAT satellite internet we also have and want to use only when there is no 3G.
is there something we can modify in the firmware?
any help greatly appreciated.
