Microsoft Direct Push E-mail not working when phone suspended - Touch 3G General

Anyone else experiencing this problem? With Microsoft Direct Push e-mail configured to sync with Exchange 2003 and deliver items as they arrive, the phone works perfectly when powered on but when the phone goes into suspend/standby mode, after a few minutes it stops listening for the Exchange server ping that tells it to initiate a sync. The effect is that e-mails are not delivered when the phone is suspended. When the phone is brought out of suspend mode a sync is initiated and the e-mails arrive.
A section of the ActiveSync log file shows what's happening...

In this log, synchronisation and pings are working fine with the phone on, at around 08:10 the phone enters suspend mode - no further activity is logged until the phone is brought out of suspend at 08:47 - when it realises it's missed it's ping from Exchange and initiates an immediate sync. There should be pings and responses logged between these times (several test e-mails were sent to the exchange mailbox).
Looks like it could be a bug in the radio firmware - the radio not handling dormant ping mode correctly.
The same mailbox syncs perfectly with other HTC phones so I doubt it's related to the Exchange config (and the Touch 3G works perfectly if left powered on).
Can anyone else reproduce this - if it's a common fault then it's a big oversight by HTC.

It seems that there is a bug concerning suspend mode and some types of incoming data.
What ROM do you have?

It must be a bug. You should report this to HTC.
Same problem at the receiving sms and e-mails as the phone wake off.
Maybe, it should save battery.

Concerning SMS. I use GSM network and when SMS comes, device does not wake up, but it plays sound and starts to flash LED (I set it to infinite flashing). Actually I like this more.

This is with ROM 1.40.405.3 and Radio 0.27.30.09
Strangly, I have no issues with sms or incoming calls in suspend mode. I've reported the issue to htc but am still interested to know if anyone else can reproduce this problem with push email?

Mogul will not power suspend when ActiveSync is set to as they arrive

Has anyone else had the problem of the phone not wanting to suspend after the time out set in the power properties when ActiveSync is set to as they arrive? I did not seem to have this problem before. I thought maybe it was a program I installed so I did a hard reset, but as soon as I sync it to my exchange and have it deliver emails as they arrive, the phone will not go idle it seems so it wont suspend. If I set it to every 5 minutes, the phone will suspend. I think it may have something to do with Vista, as I never had this problem with XP setting up the sync settings. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated...
Yea, I have the same problem. My i730 has the same problem, so it's not a phone issue, just an activesync issue. I could not find a solution.
Is there a timer program that could allow me to execute a suspend command after a set time? That would fix it.
It's working fine for me
/shrug
I found the problem, but can't figure out a fix. My server is ending it's communications with "KeepAwake=On". Other than that, it works and syncs fine. Does anyone have any ideas about how to change this on the server?

Skype Panel Disconnecting

I just installed the skype panel on my Xperia trying to use it but as soon as the skype logs in, the data connection disconnects. Any ideas?
I have this option set in my registry to make sure it disconnects when I'm not using it.
CacheTime = 30
SuspendResume:
Code:
~GPRS! :- 3G always On
GPRS_bye_if_device_off :- timeout after CacheTime
I'll try setting my CacheTime a little longer but I want it to still autodisconnect after i finish with other stuff.
Also, my GPRS connection seems to only connect and receive email as I wake the device, I don't know if it's just that I always happen to turn it on exactly at that time. :S
Ideas?

tip 33, auto disconnect for email does NOT WORK !!*WORKS NOW!!

the tip below, does not work on my hd2, i have an o2 hd2 1.43 rom, ive disabled sensui, but after send/recieve the data connection still remains active, ?? WHYYY!!??
33. Enable Auto Data Disconnect for Auto Email Downloads and Other Downloads with a Cab File
When you have auto email downloads enabled, data is not disoconnected after mail retrieval and thus your battery is drained much faster. Modify the following reg edit to have data disconnect after 60 seconds. You can test this by tapping on the notfification bar while downloading emails and watch the data connection close after idle for 60 seconds. Please note. Data connection will NOT auto disconnect if you have any HTC Sense auto download enabled such as Weather, Twitter, Stocks, Facebook or Time Sync. Please set these apps to manual download only. Please note that this setting has the possible effect of disabling simultaneous voice and data on some devices, even if you are on a capable network and signal. Finally the following app will truely disable ALL data connections AND change to GSM mode in standby to save even more battery power:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=478519
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\ConnMgr\Planner\Settings
CacheTime = 60
SuspendResume = should be blank. Delete "GPRS_bye_if_device_off" text.
VPNCacheTime = 60
sorry i figured it out, needed a soft reset !!

Wireless inactive ?

Hey guys,
Nexus S stock 2.3.4 Gingerbread here.
I have my Wireless sleep policy set to never. Indeed, the battery graph tells me that the wifi is constantly there. However if I leave my phone idle for some 30 minutes and then when I turn the screen on, I realize the wireless and signal strength icons are grey. However, during these 30 minutes, my K-9 client which is set to PUSH idle on gmail, stops pushing emails. I can receive emails on my laptop with Thunderbird but these don't pop up in K-9.
Using aLogCat I can see that when the phone is idle, K-9 complains of a connection reset by peer. Also I get other connection exceptions, such as the G talk service unable to connect. However they don't permanently fail... eventually in the logs they can connect... but later on fail to connect again.
Turning the phone on and using the internet for a bit seems to bring the wireless back to those services.
At first you could think the problem is with K-9 but the fact that other synchronizing applications fail to connect hints at a problem at OS level.
I've got K-9 set to re-establish the PUSH idle connection every 25 mins if broken.. so maybe it's K-9 that's actually forcing the wireless to come back or something after this 25 mins threshold has been reached.
Anyone experiencing something similar ?

[Q] Connection icon greyed

Hello,
two days ago my mako started to show grey connection icon for mobile data. The background synchronization also does not work.
After connecting to Wifi both icons go blue, synchro works.
Sometimes after disconnecting from wifi the mobile data icon stays blue and synchro works, but in 99% it greys out
Tried: android 4.2.2, android 4.3, cm 10.1.2-stable, 20130824-nightly cm 10.2, all of them have same problem
Has anybody some advice?
Logcat
Code:
D/ConnectivityService( 551): handleInetConditionHoldEnd: net=0, condition=0, published condition=0 // grey icon
D/ConnectivityService( 551): handleInetConditionHoldEnd: net=1, condition=100, published condition=0 //blueicon
if condition is 0 the icon is grey, when condition is 100 the icon goes blue, and everything is fine
edit:// internet is functional, manual sync too

Yeah, this means your device is having trouble communicating with Google's servers. If you're getting blue bars on wifi, I suspect it has something to do with your carrier or APN settings. Who are you with?

Compare with your APN settings:
Contract
Dial Number : *99#
APN : internet
Username : (leave blank)
Password : (leave blank)
Pay As You Go
Dial Number : *99#
APN : gointernet
Username : (leave blank)
Password : (leave blank)
dialing number not found, but everything seems fine
weird is, that sometimes it stays blue after wifi disconnect
and that manual sync works and internet works
problem solved??
i played yesterday with APNs, changed APN type to "default, supl, hipri, internet", many times did "reset to default" in APN, and finally it started working, i don't know why, i don't know how, but it works

Good to hear
It was probably a carrier-side issue then.
