GPS tracking program - Touch HD General

Which GPS tracking program do you suggest to install ?
The only features should be simple to use, storing the tracked data to storage card (not uploading them online) and then possibility to export them to google eart.
Tnx

I used Track Me on my Kaiser and it preforms brilliantly, the KML files can be used in google earth which really does look impressive.
It looks and runs on the HD perfectly also

I'm using GPSed and Trackr
both free
Trackr has an interesting feature, as it can log the speed while tracking, and it displays on maps with the track's color depending on the speed.

NAV-to GPS-coded Pics?

Hi!
Reading about some Navman GPS devices, I've found they have the ability to navigate toward the GPS-embedded coordinates of GPS-pictures. Is there any way to enable TT6 to do the same trick? Or other process to use the GPS data in the pics?

That would be very nice. I've seen it too on the Navman and it worked very nice. But I don't think they can do here a thing with it, because they can't look into TomTom 6 code.
Well.... What about a TT6 upgrade to do the trick? If they found how to navigate-to a contact address from the contact manager app, it could be the same for GPS-pics. Maybe one of the genious in this forum can make a patch..... just a wish!
While we can get the source code for WM5 and WM6 to help us fiddle about with the OS's, doing the same for an application like tomtom, which is patented and protected, is slim to none. Without maybe paying a large amount of money to tomtom to get hold of the code.
I could be wrong..

Well, you may be right about Copyrights, but at the same time, it should be easy to "convert" the EXIF GPS data on the pics to the POI format TT6 uses... and this is widely done with Radar POI's listings and the like.
Hasn't anyone noted the folder where the GPS pics are stored.... It's named "My POI"! It has to mean something!
Waiting........

Oh, and Microsoft code isn't copyrighted, is that it?
So where, exactly, is it that you're able to get to the "source code" for WM5 or WM6? We all have the same executables for TT6 as we do for WM, and therefore are free to disassemble/reverse-engineer...
you can collect GPS data using BeeLineGPS, or TuneGPS
You can than expost you track and conbine it in pictures.

GPS Route Registration?

Hello,
I wonder if there is a program, where I can get my route administration done with my Touch Diamond (or other gps-enabled ppc's).
A program where i can say 'START ROUTE' and it logs the current GPS-position, it counts the driven KM's, and when i say 'STOP ROUTE' it logs it to a file with date, km's and better with destination names (connect to google maps?)
I know some sort of things exist, but not 'simple' ..
I need it for the Taxes, i run my own company and have to write down every single km I drive. Pfff...
any ideas?
I think TRACKME might be what you are looking for(best of all: it's free!:

Found it, sorry for this tread !!

It's all available there.
Since I can log GPS coordinates on my own server, in fact I can get a plot from there very easy. It looks very promising.
there's one which doesn't require .NET 3.5.. called MyMotion 1.1.. i'm using it for my bicycle trips.. you can log your route while you drive and then use a mapmaker to match a google earth map with coordinates to it so you can see where you drove.
it's really really good.

[PRJ]GPS / compass app

I am looking into writing a .NET GPS / Compass view for HTC Diamond showing coordinates, direction of movenment and velocity. Anyone aware of the API for accessing the buildin GPS and the standard used for extracting coordinates.
Thanks,

i tried clicking on the gpx file but had to manually associate it with google maps
it doesnt do anything though
i've got the one with dutties 3.9 which is version 3,0,1,6
is this the one
?
Right, i've tried the apps mentioned on here
my findings are:
NoniGPSplot
This looks good, but i see no map data, i've enabled the gps etc but still no joy
gpsVP
Also looks good (better that the above) but i had issues loading maps, is there a way to download everything for my route for openstreetmap so it doesn't try and download it all over GPRS?
Google maps
Nice and quick, but again, it downloads maps as you need it, ideally i want to just download the maps i need for my route (is this possible?)
Also it doesn't show the cycle routes properly, so i have to use sat view
any help with the above appreciated as i got the bike ride tomorrow and i dont want my battery to run out in the first few hours (its a 120mile ride!)

UK Ordnance survey maps on our wmp8x :D

Hi All
Well as those of us in the UK know the mapping options for hillwalking etc are poor for us on WMP at the moment and those that do exist are frankly over priced pieces of rubbish that either have a poor os map or none at all!!!
So I looked around and didn't find a solution and then remembered a solution that I once used on WM5 before I started using Memory-Maps..
Tried it and works a damn treat and best of all it's FREE...
So here goes...
1)Firstly you will need to install Navicomputer from the market.. Get it set up and syncing with skydrive/onedrive..
2)Then get on Google and find MOBAC but one that still has the map-sources for ordnance survey maps it will be between version numbers 1.7 and 1.8. Not sure which one has it as my MOBAC is one have modded myself to included OS map-source and is app version 1.9.16.
3)Install it and then choose Ordnance Survey map-source and set to area you wish(TIP...use ovimap to choose/highlight large areas then switch to OS before you click add selection).
Make sure when you click new(to create file) you choose navicomputer. And let it do it's stuff.
Just beware as the files can be large depending on the amount of zoom levels you choose! and also move the Navicomputer and data to SDcard too!!!! (I use sense storage app to do this)
4)When finished simply upload the map file to skydrive, Yes I know there is a PC sync app for navicomputer but it simply doesn't work...
5)Now in navicomputer go to files click sync button, go to skydrive option and choose import offline maps. it will give you a list of map files(if you have created more than one) choose and download the required file and that's it..
You now have Ordnance Survey maps on the wmp!!!!
Best part is you can create as many maps as you wish and upload them to skydrive so you will always have access to them(if you have data/wifi access) and you can use any map-sources you wish so not limited to OS maps or OSM maps either...
Hope that helps you all..
If so please let me know and any further suggestions you have so can improve this little guide...
regards
Lohtse

Very useful indeed!
Happy its useful info

Hi folks, is this still working for people? I'm on 1.8 and very very few tiles are showing up as OS. It looks like the application is falling back on open street map or some other "lesser" format. Thanks

Yes, I'm having similar issues, something seems to have changed on the back-end Bing website/service (where the old versions of MOBAC pulls the OS tiles from) in the last few months which has resulted in most of the tiles coming through in the standard Bing format rather than the OS. Strangely, some of the OS tiles seem to get through ok, and you can still get the OS tiles on the Bing website itself, so the imagery must still be available, just not served up the same way it used to be.
