Touch HD not recognizing the SIM - Please Help - Touch HD General

After a long wait, I just received the Touch HD via FedEx this morning. I immediately insterted the SIM card and powered up the device.
It is not recognizing the SIM card. It gives me a SIM missing and emergency calls only message. I am in the USA and had it shipped from Clove in the UK. This is really frustrating.
I tried with couple of other SIM cards from my friends, same issue with those SIM cards as well. I did a Hard Reset multiple times now, but no issue. I contacted the Clove, they have asked me to ship it back.
I do not want to spend $80 odd UDD to ship it back if there is anyother way to trouble shoot the problem. Everything else in the device works just FINE, except for the SIM error.
I am using T-Mobile USA SIM which runs on 1900 MHz frequency.
Any advice for you all will be grealy appriciated.

Yeah....I have to figure this one out as well. The detail specs says that it should be able to run on T Mobile frequency.
Please someone respond to this thread!!!!!

It looks like the sim module on your device is defective, i had the same problem with my HTC P3600i but they replaced the module for me free.
U ordered from clove and got it defective?? Damn i was just gonna place my order with clove..anybody else ordered from clove??Are your devices functioning properly?

This is very important!!! I was hoping to use Tmobile sim myself. Anyone has it running on tmobile in USA?
I'm supposed to be getting mine today, will update with the news.

i bought mine from expansys fr and im using with no problem with tmobile usa. it automatically recognized and set my connection so its all good.

I have ordered many, many items from Clove and on each and every occasion I have been provided a first class service regardless if there was a problem or not.
No matter where you purchase the device from you can not guarantee it to be problem free. As such you can't blame Clove ~ all CLove do is receive stock from the wholesalers.
Occasionally there will be a defective item which has slipped through HTC's quality control check.

They do, but that is for 3G support (don't ask..... the boneheads in Bellevue made a decision that essentially puts all T-Mobile US customers on a 3G island. They might as well have been bought by Sprint!). The Touch HD will operate just fine on the EDGE network and still support the 850/900/1800/1900Mhz frequencies for voice traffic.

Let me clear one thing. I NEVER blamed Clove for a defective device. It's not like they would send me a used one. I just mentioned that I bought it from Clove, UK because I had to ship it back to them and wait for them to test it and send me a new one. So I was wondering if there was anyother way to troubleshoot that issue.
In anycase, I emailed Clove about the issue and they responded immediately and asked me to send the device back, which I did. It is in transit and it SUX that I will not receive my HD for another week or so...

so are they going to cover the two extra shipping fees or just one of them?

Same thing to me. Just a reset away and it's all fine... A happy HD user... this device really ROCKS...

Telus HTC Hero, can it be unlocked

Can the Telus HTC Hero be unlocked, without having any telus sim or being activated on telus in any way at all? I'm on Bell but want an android device. Was thinking of buying it, unlocking it, and throwing in a Bell sim.
unlock?
I am looking for the same answer, it should be able to get unlocked question is has anyone don it yet.
Unlocked and android 2
Better yet lets see it unlocked and android 2 installed!
There is a guy on eBay selling unlock code for the Telus Hero (try searching "telus hero"). If you are willing to shell out 25 bucks, you may want to try that. He said that he would refund you if his code didn't work.
Telus does not lock the phone, that's what the CSR told me. Pretty much u can put in any sim card to make it work.

That's really good news for us AT&T guys!!! I just need to buy one now, from what I hear Telus will not ship to the USA.
So far, actually buying one is the biggest issue. There's been discussion both here at XDA:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=580418
and on some other forums, such as:
http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?threadid=1585687
About buying it. Apparently both Best Buy and Walmart in Canada have them, but only sell them in the store and won't ship them. (Best Buy's is on their website, but Walmart's doesn't seem to be).
I'm an AT&T subscriber that's been keeping an eye out for a way to buy a Telus HTC Hero. If I lived close to Canada, I'd drive up and get one, but I live in Georgia, so it's a bit far. I hope somebody finds a place online or something.
I'd be careful about believing the Telus CSR info that the phone is unlocked. Somebody posted on Boy Genius Report that they bought one and the phone IS locked.
See user "k386" comment here:
http://www.boygeniusreport.com/2009/10/31/telus-to-offer-gsm-htc-hero/
I just bought a Telus Hero from Best Buy today, and I can tell you that the phones are LOCKED. Bought a code off a website and unlocked it, it is now usable on Rogers, but I'm with bell, so I will have to get a Bell Sim tomorrow.

thanks for the heads up
I just got my brand new Hero from Telus at square one.
I then put my Rogers sim card in.
I unlocked it successfully through mobileincanada.com it took 10 minutes to receive the unlock code.
Everything is working great so far. Except for wifi ... having issues connecting to any hot spots? it may be just weak signal or something ... will do some more investigating.
btw. My old phone was the HTC HERMES (I loved it for many years) but it's time to move on
Hey all right! Congratulations!

So, just checking: You live in Canada, right? You didn't drive there from USA, right?
I'm just looking at this from afar. So that mall has a main Telus store and a satellite store. For the smaller store, I see that the store mgr or seller provides a non-telus email address. So, for those who want this phone, i don't guess you'd think he'd sell & ship them, right?
Because what were the requirements to buy the phone? I'm just curious since so many people in US are trying to find a source where to buy these phones from.
How much did mobileincanada charge to unlock? And would they be a possible source for buying telus phones, and re-selling & shipping, at a markup, to USA?

This is how I feel about my T-mobile Wing... My unlocked Europe/GSM version of the Hero arrives tomorrow. I wanted the brown color Then I should just have to call up t-mobile's data group and get the settings to use it, with my swapped out sim card, right? (I know, i know, i won't get 3G. That's okay with me. there are many tradeoffs)
You don't need to meet any requirements to buy the phone outright. Other than having the cash to do so
I've bought 3 this week for USA members to ship to them. Was no biggie.

Yes that's who I'm doing it for
I am waiting mine to arrive (my friend in Canada bought and shipped it to me).
Just now I went to HTC Canada's website and looked at the spec again:
Dual mode UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA (900/2100MHz for
EU/Asia, 850/1900 for US and 850/2100 for Telstra)
It's funny how they list 850/1900 for US on HTC Canada's website, as if the phone was designed to work in the US. They could have put it much better by saying "850/1900 for Telus"... Only AT&T uses 850/1900 here in the US, and NO I don't think AT&T is carrying any Android device in the near future.
It's like "Hey, friends across the borders. I am sorry for making the Hero exclusively on CDMA networks in your country, but you know what, here is something that you may like."

got mine from vodafone this morining

im completely blown away, how fast and smooth everything runs. internet is REALLY fast, faster than iphone by a few seconds to load a page. only annoyance so far is when typing it always auto corrects my words to something i didn't type. auto correct is also turned off in setting
the sceen is amazing, cant tell it has only 65k colours
feel free to merge this thread...
Glad you got yours from voda. I was supposed to be getting mine today as i got a text and consignment number but nothing appears on the dpd website when i enter my tracking number. Better be here tomorrow or i'll be really annoyed
Nice one mate. What is the branding like on it? If at all? Very minimal?
I saw the dummy, and it looks amazing. Should be arriving tomorrow for me!

Mate - when the keyboard is open, make sure that ABC is selected in the button above the left shift key (XT9 or ABC).
This REALLY turns off auto-correction. I've had problems with that myself. I wanted suggestions, so I could select a word without having to type the whole thing, but couldn't stop it "auto-correcting" words. REALLY annoying when it's simply a word that it doesn't recognise and it just guesses! lol
i hope so too man, its been awful waiting for it lol. maybe you should ring voda and enquire about the dpd thing though, just to make sure?
oh and there is no branding at all. everything is left untouched

yep sounds unlocked to me. Thats a bonus!
I think Vodafone wanted to get the HD2 out faster than anyone else, so obviously decided not to brand it or bother locking it.
Smart move on their part I think. Certainly lots of people getting new contracts to get it!
Lucky You
Lucky you man. DPD said they tried to deliver it today and even left a note, yet I got nothing from them, and they didn't leave any note.
Really pissed off with DPD as i've waited so long for this phone and they just screwed me.
Well lets hope i get it tomorrow.
My wife had SE M600 and then diamond befoore upgrading to HD2 on Vodafone. None of them were network locked. Also a friend of mine had Pro2 from vodafone and it was also unlocked. Vodafone does not seem to bother with locking the phones for the last few years. Although HD2 is not being delivered until later this week, it is good to hear that their policy on locking has not changed.
Ah great new about the unlocking was thinking that i might had to try and get it unlocked as gonna be using a pay as you go sim, since 18 and dont realy want to be tied to a contract anyone know which would be the best pay as you go for an unlimited internet package been looking at O2 but had no luck on finding there "fair usage policy" and when calling i just get told its unlimited. they realy are usless on these phone support lines

O2's so called "unlimited" is 200MB per month. (Chuckles and wonders what their "restricted" access would be like).
Guess what. Mine won't be here today either......... :-(
Turns out Vodafone didn't give DPD my full address details, so they couldn't route the package. Talk about hopeless.
It's just as well I phoned DPD, as Vodafone were still convinced that everything was okay for delivery today.
If anyone is still waiting for their phone, I suggest you call DPD on 0845 9 300 100 and make sure that everything is okay.
I've now given DPD my mobile number, and complete directions to my house. Hopefully, there won't be any more cockups.
On the plus side, I did manage to get Vodafone to give me a £30 credit to my account for the inconvenience of spending another day at home waiting for delivery.
Bagpuss.

[Q] Will the US VP's 3G work in Europe?

So according to the other thread the US version would have 850/1700/2100.
Would that work in Europe? (Netherlands/Belgium/Germany) Or just in the US?
Sorry if this has been answered before. Can't find a clear overview anywhere.
EDIT: Found out that European HSDPA is 1900/2100. (1900 being for upstream 2100 for downstream). Does that mean I can still use 3g but only downstream?
The US version has 900/1700/2100 - it can for sure be used in the UK
I don't know what bands the rest of Europe uses
The australia version is advertised as having 1900/2100

Smart man will probably need a US credit card though?
Think I'm going to buy an HTC Trophy anyway, because then I can get it today, won't have to worry about minor hardware mistakes or other warranty related stuff... And I'll have it today
Just played around with it in a store and I fell in love immediately with the OS. Couldn't see the phone anymore, so I figured it's not worth the hassle.
Out of interest, why go for the Trophy over the HD7? I only ask as I've been trying to work out what benefits it would give. I'm assuming here that you're buying the phone outright and so it's not a case of it's the only model you can get from your operator.

Excellent Got a Trophy now, but the VP might make a nice present

SGS2 O2 PAYG in my hands

This morning I called O2 to check on my PAYG order and was told it is out of stock so the order was not processed. Went to the local O2 and bought one! Very happy!
Quick notes below and I will add more info later. If you have questions please ask:
1. Screen is AMAZING - looks like a high-gloss magazine print, but very little reflections.
2. The device is SIM locked to O2. In store I was told it is locked for a year but I can unlock it with after market shops and services (non-O2). I already had an O2 PAYG SIM so no need to buy one. Vodafone SIM requires Network Lock Control Key. Will checkout online unlock options.
UPDATE: Paid online for unlock service at http://www.mobileunlocked.co.uk/. Tracking informations states 'Order in Progress with Bulk Supplier. Delivery Time: 6 to 12 Hours from order time'.
UPDATE 2: Got unlock code back in 11 minutes! Unlock successful!
3. O2 stuff: Wallpaper is a panorama view of the O2 arena area (actually nice!). Boot and shutdown screens are with O2 logo. No other O2 stuff and no O2 apps.
4. About info:
Kernel version: 2.6.35.7-I9100XWKDD-CL161513
Build number: GINGERBREAD.XWKDD
Baseband version: I9100XXKDH
Congratulations...you'll enjoy it very much
swyped from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Obviously we demand an extremely indepth and thorough review of the devices every feature!
(don't bow down to pressure to run it through quadrant benchmarks or anything, no doubt someone will be along shortly to ask you... if on the other hand you feel like doing some benchmarks for your own interest by all means share)

Are you sure it is SIM free? Mine wasn't and it doesn't seem likely they have both SIM-locked and SIM-free devices.
I got mine in North Finchley. They had one unit and I asked to reserve for me and they did.
I really hate the O2 logo on boot and shutdown. Anyway to remove it?
Well it has my vodafone sim card in it now and its working. It was the first sim card ever put into the device.

How does this work?
You put in your imei and phone number. If you're eligible you can claim the headphones.

You will have had to have purchased the phone from Carphone Warehouse or direct from Sony during October in the UK to qualify.

If you buy direct they have their own firmware for the phone so you can follow this guide.
https://ee.co.uk/help/phones-and-de...setting-up-wifi-calling-on-the-sony-xperia-xz
Otherwise it does not even appear in the phone. Its a build in feature from them, They have some sort of partition on the phone.

Yeah I understand now thanks for that. I may need to try and root this 1 day the chrome browser seems to have the ee touch as home page on it is ee and there's no way to change and no way to uninstall it. That's the only thing ee I can see. I'll give this ee calling ago. I would of brought from carohonewarehouse but£40 cheaper at ee and black and silver in stock was a no brainer.
Random question, I've received these headphones and I don't seem to be able to use Google voice dialler. I hold down the play button but nothing happens. Have you been able to get it working?

Not sure.
I'll get mine later today so will test and find out then.
Will see if we can get this working !
I thought i'll never get mine, i've ordered phone through service's provider online shop 9.10.2016(preorder) and had to wait until 13.10.2016(all providers in my country started deliveries that day- start of event 14.10.2016-18.11.2016) since it was end of the week i've recived mine 17.10.2016. The same day i tried to register my phone with a code i was given, to my suprise it did not worked at all, i've send an email to company that organised this promotion, it took two days and my perseverance to finally make it work, i had to try diffrent combination of 2 middle letters. 19.10.2016 i fortunatly registered it and waiting had started. 7.11.2016 after all i got an email that confirmed proper registration and that they will send it in the next 30 days. Just hope i'll get it late next week or week after that. Did any of you guys got the same problem? How long it took before you recived yours headphones?
No I just popped my IMEI number in and got mine like 2/3 days after.
Was pretty simple if I'm honest.
It's probably my luck i guess, company that organizes that is greenmark, a third party not Sony's Polish branch
Finally i got mine yeasterday, sound quality is good, build quality is acceptable, they fit well and comfort of use is high
Filled in my details and it wouldn't accept me for the offer.
Sony XZ Purchased from Carphone Warehouse, member of staff mentioned the headphone offer to me during purchase but the offer website doesn't accept my IMEI so i'm out of luck
same here website says my code is invalid.
