default_0409.htm on WM5 - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

After doing some research, I have managed to locate the default_409.htm file and the needed images.
Everything needs to be placed in your Windows directory.
default_0409.htm is the actual file from WM6 I believe.
default_0408.htm is an edited one to use Google search.
For some unknown reason, Favorites and History do not work for me, and if someone can explain why, please do so.

Anyone on why the history/bookmarks doesn't work in WM5?

bumping...

where are the html people?

Im pretty good with HTML and I use default_0409.htm alot, Tho I have no idea why favorites and history doesen't work for you. Sorry...

Custom Setup After Hard Reset

Guys, Have been searching the site for a couple of weeks now and cant find a solution to my problem.
I work for a company that deals with alot of XDA2 units, so far I have managed to develop a custom extended rom that works fine, but have not been able to find a way to remove links from the start menu and the program menu. seen several threat on the site but no solution. The links have to be removed if a hard reset occurs. At present It has to be done by cloning an image onto the unit (1600 in total)
Any help would be appreciated.

I would love a program which based on a txt file would "delete","rename"... files and/or registry.
Something that could be executed from config.txt
there was a thread about a .bat interpreter but i don't think they got it working.

I'm using Restorator utility (search through the forum) to do the aforementioned things and much more. Works flawlessly with new Second Edition rom
thx, I completely forgot about that utility. I will defenitely give it a try

problems after removing minimo

I removed minimo from my vario2 after finding it very sluggish. when installed it asked if I wanted to set it as default browser and I said yes. now if I click on a hyperlink in an email IE won't open it because of a security error. something about trusted. any ideas how I can get it back as I do not seem to have any sort of registry editor. had a look at all the ie settings I can find, but no joy. if I need to install one can I download one as a cab file as active sync messed my pc up! cheers in advance you ever helpful souls!

Please follow my articles: this is a very common problem under WM5 I've often elaborated on (e.g. at http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/in..._the_flaky_file_associat&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1 ) . It's in no way a security error: the system just doesn't find the target app.
You only need to restore the file extension assignments with for example http://www.winmobiletech.com/sekalaiset/RevertOperaAssignments.reg
Super, that looks like the exact problem. I have been looking for a registry editor that I can download as a direct cab file, I still have not found one; have you any links?
Thanks very much so far

TotalCommander for WM6?

I'm not liking the fact that I can't see filename extensions while browsing in File Explorer, so I searched this forum, and quickly learned of the freeware app called TotalCommander. Everyone on this forum that's using it seems to love this powerful app, which sounds like it will do what I want plus much more.
So I found the 2.5 version (which is the latest version I can find), downloaded it onto my HTC-PPC6800, and executed it. I immediately got a message that the program was not for portable PC devices. What gives? Is it that this version is only for WM5? Is there a later version out there that I just haven't found yet?
If I'm just not able to use TotalCommander, is there another similar app that I could install? I truly would like to accomplish two things...first, as I mentioned earlier, I would like to see filename extensions. Second, I would like for there to be a way for me to see the entire filename (or at the very least, a lot more than the dozen or so characters I can see now). I have many files that the first 15 or 20 characters are the same, and I can't tell the difference between them when I look them up on File Explorer!
Once again, I very much appreciate the help!
Try CE FileCommander 1.0.
there are a few versions of the 2.5 beta 3 they made
try the first one on this list, the others are for other processor types or older versions of win ce and
http://ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?t=16509
Thanks so much for the reply...but unfortunately, that's the exact one I used! I removed it and re-copied it back to the phone (I created a folder called TotalCommander under the Program Files folder, and pasted it in there), and tried to install it again, but I got the same error message.
Any more ideas???
gsfinder works good....It shows the filename and the extentions...
I got Total Commander/CE v2.5 PB3 from here:
http://www.freewareppc.com/download/utilities/totalcommander.shtml
It's been working fine on my Mogul. I used the ActiveSync install.
If you're downloading the .exe, you have to run it on your PC, not your 6800.
yeah the reason you get that error could be because you are trying to run an activesync install pc exe on a pocketpc
No way! Wow...as I said...I'm a newbie to this!
Okay then...I ran the .exe on my PC and it said that it installed it on my portable PC device via ActiveSync, but there were no messages on my PPC6800, nor can I find any sign of TotalCommander.
I'm sure I've missed something...can someone tell me what it is???
You've installed the Activesync software that came with the phone, right?
You run the .exe
You sync your phone.
Then it installs when you sync.
Not sure how it works with Vista, but that's how it works with XP.
Frankenbike:
That was it!
I swear...there's like twenty different ways to install stuff on these WM devices, huh?
But it's in there and working like a champ!
Thanks to you and everyone else for your help with this!
(Whatever did we do before we had forums? Read the manual???)
dont think there are 20 5 maybe

Cant view html files using PIE anymore

Oops. Can anyone help please.
After installing opera 9.5 beta, I realised that it hijacked html files and stopped PIE from loading them. Since I couldnt uninstall the opera, I removed the files and registry entries.
But no matter what I try to do, PIE wont load html files I have stored.
It connects to the web without trouble
Does anyone know how to fix this, or have I messed up.
Thanks
Option 1: Hard Reset
Option 2: Use Total Commander and long click on an HTML file to get Properties, then navigate to the associate tab
Other Options: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=252799
I tried the associate using tc and resco but it makes no difference.
Is there a way to re-install just the pie?

not trying to be smart, but i believe a hard-reset is the only way to reinstall PIE.
What a pain.
If it helps anyone out there, IEP looks like its in an infinite loop when trying to load a local html file.

I had same Problem. It has been resolved
In registry I changed the file association for "html" exactly as follows: iexplorer.exe file:%1

my first winmobile app - number formatter

Dunno if this should go here or not... anywho...
I was bored today and been wanting to learn C# and .NET CF for a while, so here the first version of my first app....
I got sick of how it stores new numbers by default (i guess depending on the rom you'll get +61.... or just 0433......) and I have some international numbers and the whole thing is a mess, so what this does is it tries to match.
its all based off a rules file which you will find in the .cab
.. so how it works is like this... there is a rule "+614xxxxxxxx:04xx xxx xxx"
so that will take any number that starts with +614 and is followed by 8 numbers an change it to store as 04 with the numbers spaced like they normally are.
The rules are tried in order, lines starting with a # are comments (I've included 7 rules which converts all aussie numbers to how they are normally represented)
So, when the program is started it will run through your contacts and try out every number (which might take a few seconds). Any that it finds will get shown in a nice tree where you can check the numbers you want stored permanently.
you can get the .cab here and it needs CF.NET 3.5
Spoiler
I seriously hope there wasn't a inbuilt way to do this....
I'm probably going to release the source once its cleaned up a bit, but untill then, leave a reply if you want it.
Also, is there a nice regex which can do this?
Oh, the rules are mostly for Australian "standards" so you will probably need to fiddle to get them working well for you... paste your local rules and I'll add them
Let me know what you think.
your announcement would do much better in the devers part located here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=260
maybe one of the mods want to move this topic, so the author gets more feedback?
the cab file won't install on my Elfin
more info? have you got CF.NET 3.5 installed?
I may have stuffed up the cab (although it works fine on my kaiser...) http://jdgordon.info:8080/~jonno/numberformatter.zip is the exe and the needed rules.txt file, just make sure they are both in the same folder and it should work
bump to get some feedback (threads move too quickly here )
