Retractable USB cables (Bit of info) - Touch Pro, Fuze Accessories

If you want to buy one of the snazzy retractable USB to Micro USB cables that are around.
Try to make sure it has a 3 core cable on it.
A 2 core cable will perform as a charge and basic USB link but a 3 core cable will give full advanced conectivity and will provide dual ground links for greater noise supression when used as a Laptop modem (tethered as the US poeple say..)
CAPDASE is one I can recommend. but I am sure there are others.

Miro USB Car Charger?

Saw this bundle on Amazon http://www.amazon.ca/Skque-Premium-Protector-Earphone-Charger/dp/B006OIQC04/ref=sr_1_15?ie=UTF8&m=A3VAVEQC03JY97&s=generic&qid=1325865654&sr=1-15 and noticed that it included a micro usb car charger. Would this work with our tablets?
??? The manufacture says it will.
The a500 doesn't support usb charging, supposedly there will be an update to allow it.

Do you have a link to a source stating that there will be an update to allow it?
It doesn't make sense to me, because the hardware physically can't support it (USB can only deliver 5V, whereas the A500 wants 12V IIRC)
It won't work like stated before a micro usb charger won't have the juice to do it. When you plug in the micro usb the charge light does not come on. Not supported and I don't know of any update that will change that.
Update: I just actually clicked on your link and the whole bundle is suspect. The wall charger is even a micro usb. Won't work, perfect example of a company throwing together a cheap bundle to entice the consumer that he is getting a great deal. I bet the chargers aren't even 1000ma which would be the minimum need to charge our tablet if it supported it.

Ok ..
Something just came to my mind.. .
I have a new notebook. that has a usb/sata port.. Now i know it required a special cable that is designed for a usb to sata hard drive to use it with a sata hard drive without a enclusure and it runs at the speed of a internal sata port.. when you connect a hard drive to this port . it shows up as a sata drive not a usb drive..
the drive i use is a 3.5 inch 2 tb hard disk that is 12v-5v..
so with this said. its actually pliable that this could work.. But im thinking our iconia does not have this type of usb port.. I will add the 12v usb /sata cable and hard drive will only work on that one usb port on my notebook. the others will not even register it.. If this is a device used in a usb/sata then connected to the Power port of the iconia.. there is a chance such a device COULD be created...
ok im rambling.. Because i DO NOT THINK THIS IS EVEN THOUGHT ABOUT.. most people do not even know this usb/sata shared technology exist....

Dont be sorry, it is very interesting input. I am quite annoyed though because I was actually pretty stoked about having a USB charger. I agree the battery life is pretty good on the Iconia but there are always those days where you forget to charge the thing before going to work. (Thats what got me looking on Amazon in the first place)
I am doubly annoyed that someone might actually buy this and get a big disappointment when the product actually arrives.
Very curious about this SATA / USB port though. Time for some google fu!
i read the manual from HP with not much said in there other then its called a. USB/e-sata port.
I do also know its usb 3.0 standard this notebook is the HP dm1-us3020 model.I think the z version of this notebook does not have this port.the notebook is based on the and Fusion CPU.and gets 7 plus hours batterylife with moderate use.
Charging it is another story.its I think 9 cell li 19.7 v charging brick spent 125.00 for car inverter for this thing grrrrrrrr.
OK im at hair salon and its my turn.
wish me luck.

Yes that is the port.as I said above it will run a 3.5 hard drive connected with nothing more then a cheap USB to e-sata unmanaged.(no chips or resistores in cable) type of cable.for all I know all newer notebooks might have one.
I was just making a point that you could in theory charge your Iconia from this port to the Iconia power port.
As the hard drive requires12 vfrom my knowledge.but im not cutting my cable to try it.Don't ask Giggles.

Very interesting. According to wiki, laptop eSATAp ports deliver 5v and desktop eSATAp ports deliver 12v. Not sure where in the computer the extra v come from.
I don't have the charger with me so I don't know the specs but I'm wondering if a USB 3.0 to iconia power plug cable would hypothetically work?
Amazon item from op
I got very frustrated after looking around on amazon today for something diffrent.. Frustrated seeing this add for the product you talk about all over the iconia a500 searches on amazon.. So i emailed them about this product . giving them the specs of the a 500 along with a link to the required charger. I also did a review of the product warning anyone from buying this...
I suggest others do the same ITS JUST OUTRIGHT FRAUD...... the seller sent me a response stating the device will do what it says. well not for my iconia it will not..

Well apparently, this dock is only good for charging / desk clock only.
you can not use MHL cable behind the dock and HDMI out.
It doses charges via MHL cable but dose not do HDMI out.
I know tht part sucks the most, but that is what it is.

Can you still use USB 2.0 cable to charge Note 3?

I have a lot of the USB 2.0 cables, does this mean I have to buy all new cables?
Yes you can. One side of the port can used with a standard Micro USB cable. The linked article even contains a note about it:
Although it's much wider than the Micro USB connector you're used to, the new port is actually backwards-compatible: a regular Micro USB cable can plug into one side of the port.

*goes to test on a USB 3 harddrive*
Bloody hell! It actually does! You can use a USB Micro cable on a USB3.0 port.
Can confirm the port works with regular micro USB (and Smart Dock, and regular USB OTG cables). Lucky enough to have played with a Note 3 for half the weekend just gone.
But you can't use a an apple 30 pin connector on a lightning port apple product, you have to spend $29 more per cable or risk damaging your device. Ah, the beauty and elegance of industry standards.

The one that comes in the box with the S8/pus or even the S7/E does not. Even Samsung own manual tells you this. When he asks more than likely he is going to find the one in the box and use that one since it is "available" right out of the box. FYI I bought those Anker ones they do not do data transfers from my experience. I did 2 exchanges with Anker and they offered to refund my money. Yes I even tested different 12 cables, 5 computers, and phones(5X, Note 7, S7E, and HTC 10). Just because it says it doesn't always means they will work.
The half a dozen cheap third party ones I've had in the last year were limited to slow charging and no data

FYI, USB-C is not downwards compatible to MicroUSB (USB-C has 24 pins, MicroUSB has 5). You can come from MicroUSB to USB-C, but not the other way around.

At best, an adapter will give you USB 2.0 speeds for charging and data, and most adapters won't even do data like you experienced.
Best to splurge and get a USB 3.1 Gen1 certified cable and call it a day.
I have plenty of cables after I found these things don't always work. I found 1 that gave me data transfers but it was slower than 2.0 speeds. I gave in went to Monoprice and bought some beefy 3.1 cables. They are suprisingly thicker than a lot of the USB cables I have seen. The Samsung and LG ones seems to tiny in comparison.
It's handy to have a few of the adapters around, they are so cheap to buy I bought at least 4 for my Note 7. Just in case I am somewhere without a usb C cable then I can use the adapter in a pinch. I also have a bunch of good quality USB C cables, 3' and 6' from my Note 7. They are so much easier to use than micro usb. Can't wait to start using usb C on my S8 and S8+ next friday.
Is there any adapter usb c to micro usb AND change at the same time?
Thanks,

Okay, maybe i'm confused. Does it come with a USB-C cable and an adapter? Or is the charging cables MicroUSB and they expect you to use that adapter to charge your phone? The 128gb version has a USB C charging cable, no adapter needed https://youtu.be/3TkrWQQ7Je4?t=86
Edit: Okay, i'm an idiot. The Charging cable is Type C https://youtu.be/razfnztPtG0?t=135. The adapter is just for another cable you have laying around I guess.

Some of the ones you listed I purchased because it said it did only to get refunds because they didn't. Anyway I am done with you. You can continue on with your pissing epeen contest.

NOBODY HAS VERIFIED WHAT YOU SAID. I have refuted everything you said, and now including this "tidbit".

All it will do is charge, but transferring data isn't going to happen.

Even Samsung own manual tells you this.

The Samsung NOTE 7 manual says EXACTLY THE OPPOSITE. Seems you can't read that well. It specifically says to use the MicroUSB adapter for DATA TRANSFER.
Here's the PDF link for anyone to read (go to page 11) -- but I've taken a screenshot of the Samsung Note 7 manual. Samsung specifically saying the microUSB adapter INCLUDED IN THE BOX is for data transfer, and even shows illustrations how to TRANSFER DATA OFF AN OLD DEVICE. Even talks about "transferring content" -- that's DATA if you don't know.
"Transfer contacts, photos, content from your old device" < Just with the "included connector" (microUSB adapter), not even installing "Smart Switch". So, of course if you plug it into a PC it will also transfer data.
Look, I don't know why you are pretending to know anything about this subject -- but you are spouting misinformation left and right. . That's 3 times now I've proven you wrong. You really don't even seemingly know anything about the topic.
Misinformation can hurt people and we have to correct it when possible. This isn't a "pissing contest" -- you are just ignorant on the subject even though you claim you read the manual and own the device. I just posted the Samsung Note 7 manual, which you claimed verified your statement. It refutes your statement, as I knew it would.
Feel free to correct your mis-statements about the microUSB adapter provided by Samsung not being able to transfer data, and that "Even Samsung own manual tells you this" -- when the manual even has illustrations for how to do transfer date using that provided adapter.

Yeah, let's see how that goes for you when the Note 7 manual says the exact opposite of what you claimed. Yeah, go grab the Galaxy S8 manual.
I mean all one has to read and a few people experienced what I said. That is all. Have a great day man flex that epeen

Q: Best USB-C to 3.5mm + charger adaptor

I'm looking for an adaptor that I can use on my Tab S7+ with my existing 3.5mm headphones but still charge at the same time (thinking of long flights).
Having a look online, it looks like some USB-C to 3.5mmm adaptors don't work on all devices and not all charger adaptors are equal. Can anyone advise me on a suitable adaptor?

Apple usb-c to 3.5mm. it is best value for the cost. <$10 on amazon. It works like DAC, digital to audio converter that cost much more by any other company. If the sound matters, get it and then. If you want to charge, purchase a usb-c hub that gives you power and the other stuff you might want like hdmi out and additional usb c ports.

I wanted to be able to charge at the same time (thinking of that wonderful time when we can take long flights again)
This looks like a good choice. It states that it works with the S20 and Note 20 Ultra. Does this mean that it will work with Tab S7+

CableCreation USB-C to 3.5mm adapter
I just ordered a CableCreation branded one that works and sounds great. It also has a passthrough for power. The fit and finish is pretty stellar as well.
Search Amazon for "CableCreation 2-in-1 USB C Type-C to Hi-Res 3.5mm Audio"

old school hyperdrive
if you want it all... check out the hyperdrive:
https://www.hypershop.com/products/hyperdrive-6-in-1-hub-for-ipad?variant=19332717412414
i picked this up on the kickstarter campaign when it first came on the scene. i was using the ipad pro then.
i forgot i had this thing until the thread reminded me of it.
it has all you need. hdmi, SD card, microsd, hdmi, type c with pd charging, 3.5mm jack, usb... the who ball of wax. worth the coin.
It actually not really matters which adapter you buy - as long it includes a DAC.
I got these two (all < 15 €):
JSAUX USB-C Headphone Adapter and Charging
https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B08B3MY35T/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
ESR USB-C to 3.5mm Headphone Adapter
https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B089GVWNF2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
both work well. And the cable is rather good quality - so a bit hard to bend. That's fine, as some years a ago the first I bought failed after 1 month of usage due to the cable.
I bought them as they where the cheapest of all options and the review told they have solid cables.
Also a rather old one I bought 3 years ago works (do not know the brand, sorry).
But: you need one with a DAC - I bought some very cheap from china without, and: no audio.
The first one offers simultaneously charging, but is bigger in size. And I do not hear any white noise, though some user review report so. Might also depend on the head phones you are using? Also: a DAC requires battery. So: unplug them if not needed.
Now: I only need a cheap but worthy hub. The only I found interesting so far offers no headphone jack...
The other (link) below did the job but was not fitting.
Maxonar USB C Hub for iPad Pro 2018 Type C 6 in 1 Hub with USB 3.0 (5 Gbps)
https://www.amazon.de/-/en/gp/product/B07VMK7GTT/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I liked the fact to have an usb-a, charging+data usb-c, audio, and hdmi port. However, all other option either are reported to wobble. So any suggestion is highly appreciated.
BTW: I own the tab s7, but this should not matter. Both should work with the s7+ as well.
