car charger - Touch Pro, Fuze Accessories

I've bought a car charger for a touch pro, it has a blue glowing HTC with a chrome surround on top, but the question is: Are there any fake ones about? and if so: How do you spot them?
Cheers

Cannot hear sound, the touch screen unsensitive

Hey people, I think I have a great problem with my qtek 9000 or mda pro, I have bought from UK and it worked fine, my screen got extremely turned to right so looks like the wires got cut at the point where it turns. The sound didnt work, the touchscreen unsensitive and the screen where at black and white, I soldered the wires (only seven) and now the color is back again, but the sound and touch system remains disabled, Can some little device be damaged because some wire touched other? I think the problem is nearly the screen connectors, I have tried to use the jack stereo to try if earphones worked but they didnt.
I need help people, and now after buying the device I have no money enough to repair it, could you someone advice me how to repair it?
Thank you!

Does HTC HD2 have notification light?

Hi all,
Has anyone seen the top side of the HTC HD2? I tried to see in the official website and also in youtube videos but think there are no notification lights like the HTC Touch HD. I find it very useful in the Touch HD, saving it from taking it out of the pocket and pouch.

Other than that, it's a nice device plus micro usb now read on BBC that they are going universal in mid 2010: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/8323018.stm "The charger has a micro-USB port at the connecting end, using similar technology to digital cameras".
Mayb like the kaiser next to the earphone...
Like xmoo said, it is on the left of the earphone. I have seen two videos on YouTube where you can see a green LED which blinks.
edit:

edit2:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bBlAjD4ZKr8 - here it seems to glow red permanently
i'd guess the permanent red glowing would be due to the phone being on charge
Very nice, didn't notice that in the videos! =) Thanks!
As I don't possess a HTC HD...what are the notifications usually for (red, green, blinking,..)?

The EU forced the manufactures to agree on one universal connector by (I think) 2010 or sth. . I think that was about 1-2 years ago. So if microUSB is the universal one, than probably every device will have that in the near future.
Just saying that, because it seems like everyone is kinda (positively) surprised that all the new devices have microUSB now =)

Blinking green for missed event (SMS, mail, reminder)
Solid green when fully charged and connected to external power source
Blinking red for critical battery
Solid red for charging
Off for anything else (i.e. it doesn't indicate signal reception status in any way)

was true on the HD as the light was on top, but since the HD2 has the light on the front, you still have to take it out of the pouch to see the notification.

Some people are surprised plus it's been a while. But I think this is great, don't need to carry the charger if it's universal when travelling also for those who read the news will know it will be very good for the environment.

You are right, unfortunately we will still need to take it out of the pouch now. There is nothing on the top, I would of thought a lot of people found that useful in the Touch HD although the led was very small but still useful
This thread can be closed.
it wouldnt have helped if it was in the top, since the 3.5 output is at the bottom hence most people will have the top downwards

I do like the idea of having the output at the bottom which is what I wanted in first place (makes it harder for dust to get in when in pouch) but having the lights at the top should of remained because when you are listening to music you would have your headphones in and if there was a sms or call you would hear it in your ear piece.

yes, but how would that help if the light was on the top? ... I mean from the point of view that you're listening to music... but if not, then I understand... had to wake up a bit

It's a voluntary thing, which is why it's surprising - HTC loves ExtUSB.
Who cares about a dedicated notification light ?, the HD2 has illuminated buttons which could be programed to show notifications. Much more efficient.
That's nt red it's orange.
Orange on HTC means charging.
Red is low battery.
Hope just like the kaiser notification, we'll be able to edit the led colours as how we want them.

Docking tricks for the DHD

So, most other HTC phones use a little magnet trick for the car dock and home dock, but ill be buggered if I can find where to place the magnet for the DHD. Thats not to say it couldnt be integrated into the cable somehow...
Does anyone know how to initiate Car dock and Home dock (without tasker heh), with something like a magnet??
Regards
Jamie

What makes a car dock.. dock?

Hi all.
Just a simple question I guess:
How does the SGSII know when it is docked in a compatible car dock? (Auto start Car Home, etc..?)
Does the car dock have a magnet what does the trick?
I have made my own car dock for my SGSII. And it would be really nice if it automatically started Car Home when docked.
Best regards
a certain resistance level on the connectin.. different resistence lets it sense car dock vs. home dock. etc. etc.

Could you please explain?
Resistance level on the connection?
People are talking about magnets here: http://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/j35p0/is_there_a_car_dock_for_the_sgsii/
lol if it was a magnet the magntometre would not work.
The car dock has a resistor in the power connector it only docks when plugged in even if the power is not connected to the dock.
Hope this helps
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
IIRC the resistor is pinned to pin 1 of the USB and to ground. If you look over on the Galaxy I9000 forum there is a post somewhere there on it.
Pin 4 connect to Pin 5 via 620k Ohm Resistor triggers Car dock mode

head unit not power on

Hello friends,
Today I received the multimedia system that I ordered from AliExpress and of course the frame did not arrive compatible with the car (as I was promised),
But I improvised and managed to overcome it,
The problem is that I connect all the cables properly and turn on the car but the unit just doesnt turn on,
Maybe I'm missing something and I don't know? I even tried replacing the fuse, but nothing.
In the video you can see everything, although in the video I only connect the power cable, but before that I tried with everything...
the system should turn on even when nothing is connected except the power cable, right?
I would appreciate your help because I am at a loss and the seller is not really helpful..

You should read the installation guide.
There are 2 power lines necessary to get it booting, and a ground to the car body.
There is a red one (mostly) which has BAT power at all time, and most probably a yellow one marked with ACC. This line switches the radio on when you turn the ignition key to on, so this line needs 12V from the ignition.

Use a voltmeter or test light and measure the lines Battery, ACC and Ground.
Battery should have constant power and ACC should be powered if the ignition is on.
What is about the missing connection here?
yanivos89
To add the may be missing information:
You don´t feed the unit with any power. There is a connector with yellow and red line from both connectors, but you need to connect the one from the Quadlock to the head unit cable tree with the same colors. In the second picture I think there is an open connector for that.
thanks, you mean these orange and red wires? i connected them but still nothing

I think that this connector does not fit your car
Connectors in green area are used for speakers. And metal connectors in plug (from vehicle) are present.
Connectors in red area are used to supply power [battery+, ground, ACC], buttons illumination etc. and metal connectors are NOT present.
Look at blue arrows for reference

Do you have the same unit and cable tree?
I can´t see the counterpart of the Quadlock connector coming from the unit.
To get a proper answer, we should see both connectors from the front and the back.

No, those connectors are taken from yanivos89 photos - left is harness from his SEAT, right is from his android head unit.
There is no way to connect 52pin quadlock to 40 pin quadlock, even if plug physically it can be connected, the pins inside simply dont match.

Best you can do is contact seller and ask for new harness. You need 52 quadlock connector, similiar to rest of modern VW group cars
Volkswagen (2015-2020) WG8 Sensor-Screen Bluetooth Head Unit pinout diagram @ pinoutguide.com
Additionaly you need to know that in your case everything is highly dependable on CANBUS decoder - harness from your car doesn't provide ACC signal to wake radio or signal for buttons illumination. It is solved via CAN signals.
Maybe CANBUS decoder also has to be replaced if wrong harness was sent.
Ahhh... didn´t see that.
You are right. In this case he has a wrong cable tree from Ali.
thanks very much to you both! i will check this,
what about the canbus? also need to replace or it fit?

...but you told us, that you was aware that the unit does not fit your car, right?
Wasn´t that good your decision to buy a not matching unit, right? Makes it complicated to reconfigure that stuff.
In this case: I think you will have to pay for a harness and may be also for a new CAN box. Try to buy one from the seller, or:
You also can buy a harness for VW/Skoda/Seat and crimp it to the current harness.
In this case you need to follow the connection graph on the unit and compare this with a picture of the OEM connector. Should be found on Google. May be the CAN connector works, may be not. There are a lot of CAN boxes available for your car in combination with Chinese aftermarket radios.
Good luck!
I think your car is MQB platform and the radio is for PQ platform. 52pin qadlock to 40pin. Maybe a reduction will help you

the harness of the 52 pins did solve my problem, thanks everyone for the help!
