Irritating Pop Up Keyboard - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

I saw a cab somewhere in the Diamond thread which stopped the keyboard popping up whenever one opens an email , a text message, or something that might remotely require text input. I have spent the last couple of hours searching for it but to no avail. anybody know how to turn this facility off please?

nullkb is the program you are looking for
Here is a link: http://personales.ya.com/beemer/nullkeyboard.htm

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sip]
"TurnOffAutoDeploy"=dword:00000001
This is the regkey you've probably been looking for. Use it myself on my Diamond and works like a charm.

Excellent find - after a soft reset this works on the Kaiser too, much better than faffing around with nullkb and PQz et al.

I didn't manage to make it work on my Kaiser. Could you please explain me how to?
Thank you.

Yes! That works perfectly! Thanks a bunch.
For all you guys who can't find it (it didn't exist on my Tilt):
In HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sip, you need to to create a new Value. Name it, "TurnOffAutoDeploy" (without the quotes), make it a DWord, and set the value to 00000001, like MRE-net said. Save it, soft reset, and it works like a charm.
Great find mate. Thanks again.

Ok guys; I must be stupid!
I've just tried it (again) and it still doesn't work!!!
When I create the new DWORD value, Task Manager asks me if I want it Hexadecimal or Decimal... I tried both but no one fits.
So, please, could you explain it again )
Thanks a lot!

Abundance of options
Gentlemen
many thanks, problem solved.

Make sure it is Decimal and just fill in 1 and not 0000001. 1 = on 0=off
Also make sure the new key you've created is a DWord and not a StingValue.
Alternatively you can copy the attached DisableKeyboardPopUp.txt file to your device import it into your registry. Make sure you rename the file to DisableKeyboardPopUp.reg

Thanks MRE-net! I have been looking for this as well.

HTC Mapping recent calls to a Soft Key??

I have the Softkey program already.... and I am guessing that the recent calls are part of the phone program and that there probably isn't a separate exe for it... but if anyone knows how to pull up the call list I would really appreciate it. Everyone ignores me on here and I know it's the cool thing to do but you could be an awesome trend setter by throwing me a bone!
=)
Try this. It's work for me.
Thanks dude... really appreciate it... trying to figure out how to make it show up as an option in Softkey... tried putting it in program files, didn't work... so now trying the Windows dir.
Nevermind, used a diff. soft key app that allows you to choose program path... works like a charm, I am in your debt!

- Download the CallHistory.zip from Post number two
- Extraxt the CallHistory.exe anywhere to your pda (memory or storagecard)
- Now search for Remap Softkeys on google and install the cab file on your pda
- When installed open it and change the path of the left softkey with the CallHistory.exe
I tried 5 different callhistory.exe and this is the first one that actually brought up the history and not the dialer. Thanks!

iContacts as standard?

Hi guys,
is there any possibility, to make iContacts as standard? For example if I want to add a reciepient to an sms an clicked on the "To", there comes "Outlook". But I want, that there comes iContacts. And so on.
Is there a possibility or it is a "feature" of WM?
Have fun,
MCXSC
I never really thought about it, but that would be a good idea.
I would be interested in this as well. if anyone knows how please post up
would be good, hadn't realised it didnt do it as i go to iContact, burt's edition, and from there create the SMS.
This should work?
Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shell\Rai\:MSCONTACTS
Change "String 1" value from :MSPOUTLOOK contacts to \Storage Card\Program Files\iContact\icontact.exe
Haven't tested it, because manilla uses Icontact as default after installing it.. But might be worth a try..
Hey, it works but you have to put "\Program Files\iContact\icontact.exe" in the reg File ! (Without the "" it does not work)
Big THX !!

Did you soft boot?
yes, soft reset doesn't seem to work. I'm pretty darn sure i have the location string correctly and it is still there in the reg after the soft reset.

Adding icons to program page?

Please I need your help. I added plenty of icons on the front Program page and don't remember any more how and what I did.
Thanks for your reply.
what do you want to do ?
add more or remove them ?
and are you talking about the program menu which has a number of rows of small squares
Thanks for your prompt reply.
You know the bottom line when you scroll your finger you get several pages, such as, Home, Telephone directory ... then at the end Programs. On this last one I did add some extra icons (yes squared) to which I assigned my preferred programs. I know how to delete one or more but not how to add a new ones.
To add more Programsquares:
Registry:
HKLM - Software - HTC - Manila - ProgramLauncher
Currently there are 24 directorys. You can duplicate some an change their names to 24 - ....
In here you can even unlock some fields if your provider did so. Set IsReadOnly from 1 to 0.
I think there will be a perfomancelimit somewehre, so don´t add to much in one time.
That is OK, but I don't remember had done that to add my previous ones. I can recall that I had to pouch a command and that was all.
Anyway, you are right, I might reached the max. of 24 icons.
I think I'll follow your recommendation and avoid to add any more since that might slow down the process.
Many thanks again

I've added 6 additional fields as you explained from 24 to 29, so totally I have 30 fields now and they appear on the programs tab in TF3D.
When you click on one of them (the one I've added), it opens the program list so you can choose one but after you do so the field still blank, so to resume it's not really working despite adding the field.
hmmm... I´ve tested it on diamond an it worked fine. I´ll test it on HD... it will take a moment.

I´m sorry - it really doesn´t work that way. The link is included the right way, icon link to. But it does not show. there are really differences between TF3D for Diamond and for HD.

There should be other registry tweaks to be done.
I'll do a research and will let you know if I find anything
is it possible to increase the number of programs slot?
Would it be possible to have more than one "programs" tab?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=453240
For me, if this was possible it would massively increase the functionality of my HD.
Look forward to your answers.

Mav.

If you look at the previous post, u can see that it is possible but for some reasons we are not able to add programs inside these tabs, don't know why.
It works fine on the Diamond, but not the Touch HD

Hi Mavrick
This thread is for adding more slots in the same program tabs and not adding more programs tabs in TF3D. Anyway I don't know if you proposal can be done, some expert developers might need to look at it

why text messages are recieved with different timestamp?

Whenever I get a next text message, I noticed that the messages have a time stamp way way off from the current time. How can that be if the time of the phone is right?
Have you tried this fix?
1) Goto HKLM/SOFTWARE/OEM/PhoneSetting
2) Add DWORD Value 'TrustTimeZoneField'
3) Set value = 0
4) Soft Reset
I had a similar issue where all the Delivery Reports from OrangeUK (sent from "System Administrator") came up before all the other messages regardless of when they were received.
Maybe something for me to try.
Can't find it
Where is that file at? Or it a registry?
I looked on the explorer on the HD but so many folders I haven't found it. Can you elaborate more?

hi stzd8,
it's the registry
HKLM is short hand for Hkey local machine
How do I get to the registry?
I apologize for asking these type of 'questions' but how do I get to the registry?
I can only see files. Do you access the registry from the connected PC or on the phone itself. So this is the right way to fix the timestamp?
thanks
Edited the registry 'trustedtimezone' didn't work
The registry thing didn't work, any other ideas?
the tweak WORKED for me.
Thanks alot!
I'm having this same problem running duttys 6.5 r8 and the reg edit did not work. Is there any other solution?

Did you change correct registry key? Did you soft reset afterwards?
EDIT
This fix may not work on different rom version, i.e. wm6.1 & wm6.5 as well as different manila versions. Try asking question in relevant rom thread and you may get a quicker response to your query

Send/receive shows email folder - how to stop it???

Hi all,
I've got an app that includes a send/receive using MessagingApplication.Synchronize(). It works fine, but shows the inbox and this has to be closed manually. Ideally I'd rather just not have anything visible.
Does anyone know any way to do this?
Thanks in advance
You could use Mortscript. I have Blackberry Connect on my TD2. Every time I soft reset, I get a new email in the System folder. I don't want to bother to delete this manually, so I use Mortscript to delete it. To do this, I run send/receive (from Mortscript) and then exit the email again using Mortscript. Here is the words you will need to add to your mortscript. If you are not familiar with this program, please google mortscript.
Run("Program Files\SendRecieveAll.exe")
Sleep ( 3000 )
MouseClick 455,27
I have put it in a mortscript file for ease. If you download mortscript and then use file explorer to click on the attached file, it should work. I have tested it.
Edit - this is assuming you have put the SendReceiveAll.exe in your Program folder on your device, if not then do that. By the way, unzip the attachment. By the way, where in England is "Twatt"? I think I'd like that place, but is it wet there??

Oh how ironic! Lol
Thanks a lot for the suggestion mate. I was actually looking for a way of doing a send/receive for all email accounts. I'd got that far, but it insisted on showing the inbox while it was doing it, and I wanted it to be invisible, hence this thread.
From your post though, I noticed that you were pointing at an application that does exactly that!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=501254
Thanks mate - you've pointed me in the right direction and stopped me inventing the wheel.... AGAIN!
Oh yeah.... here's Twatt. It's usually wet, but the weather's really terrible for a week every month

Oh, how funny (where you live)!
The SendReceiveAll program is very good. It's not invisible though and it does not exit the email after running hence the mortscript.... Just close your eyes after running it and you will never know it ran at all, except you will have new emails.....
