Best Bluetooth Phone Headset w/Vibrate - Advantage X7500, MDA Ameo General

I am fairly new to the using the X7500.
Does anyone have any suggestions on which BT headset works best with this unit?
I would really like vibrate and caller ID type of feature since I would like to just leave my X7500 in it's case while I take the phone calls.
I also use Bluetooth headset for listening to music pretty extensively which would be different than a phone BT headset. I would hope that I could use both bluetooth devices with the x7500 at the same time.
Ok...what are your favorite BT phone headsets with vibrate?
Thankyou!

Most people around here have gone with the Jabra BT8010.

It really depends on how much you want to spend on your bluetooth headset. Also how easy are you to be satisfied?
I would recommend the Aliph Jawbone 2 bluetooth headset. It has this "noise assasin" technology where it eliminates outside noise during your calls. So your voice and incoming calls are extra crispy. But this bluetooth ranges from $100+.
Here's a youtube video on it:

Jawbone 2 does not have vibrate. Plus I spent all that money on it and found: (a) not comfortable to wear, (b) poor performance in staying connected, (c) people complained about quality. I'm not sure what it is about me, since others seem to love it. But for me, it was a tremendous waste of money. I moved on to the Sony-Ericsson which has been much better.
Jabra BT8010 did work well for me. But it's just so huge...
Another vibrating option is the BlueAnt V12. Which is a good value for the money. Mine broke and I wish I had just bought a replacement for it.
Final comment -- if you got the dough, look into the Sony-Ericsoon MBW-150 watch which vibrates and displays messages of all kinds. Then you don't need your headset to vibrate.

there is nothing smaller and more confortable than the Jabra BT8010
it's simply the best headset for any device

I appreciate the suggestions...sounds like Jabra BT8010 would be one to check out. I currently have a Motorola HS850 but people are telling me they hear an echo and it is driving them crazy.
Another question.....I am having issue with music playing thru BT headset receiver which is separate from my phone headset when my phone headset is also active with the HTC 7500 (waiting for a call). The music starts dropping some and becomes inconsistent. Thus, 2 bluetooth devices are active at the same time even though really...it is only the music BT player that is being used. Seems like my best bet is to leave BT phone headset off until I get a call and then turn it on. Anyone have any advice for me if 2 BT headsets active is a problem for music or other recommendations on how to handle this situation. Thanks!

Have you tried upgrading your radio ROM? I had awful bluetooth issues (crackling on my end and the other end) until I upgraded from 1.47 to 1.57. I'm now on 1.58 because it has a major data speed boost but I'm getting occasional blips on my end again. People on the other end don't hear anything, so with the speed improvement I'm sticking with it. You might try upgrading - maybe first to 1.57.

How can I tell what version my Radio ROM is? Then what is the best way to get the software to upgrade? I would like to learn how to do this.
Also, do I need to upgrade A2DP on my device?

When you first boot its one of the numbers on the lower right. I think its the middle number.
Or you can go into Start>Settings>System>Device Information
First you need to fully unlock your Athena. There are several threads on this here, one of them has the software. Then you need to find the thread with either the 1.57 or 1.58 radio. If you are often in a 3G area I recommend the 1.58 radio, you will get much faster Internet connections. Otherwise I feel 1.57 is more stable for bluetooth. Note that when you unlock and again when you upgrade the radio it will do a hard reset, so copy down any settings and back up any files before you do it, and wait to restore everything after you upgrade the radio ROM.
It would be a good time to try one of the many OS ROMS around here, if you are interested.

best bluetooth headset?

Hey! just wondering, what do you guys recommend for a good bluetooth headset for XDA exec?
I have the Jabra BT250V and find it the best for me, I have not tried any other brands other than the Bluespoon AX (that was to hard to get on in a hurry and allthough its small I found it looked stupid hanging out of the ear.
I have a Jabra BT500 and love the shape but am having problems pairing it with my Jasjar it was fine for a while then after an upgrade I couldn't pair it with the phone. I also found it to be alot harder to hear than the BT250v and I love the vibration in the 250V as you know weather or not the bluetooth is still active as it is a bit unrealiable on the Jasjar.
I'm really pleased with my Jabra BT800. Excellent battery life (2-3 days, 2 hrs per day), superb sound quality (and positive comments from people even when I'm in a noisy environment), good control with the built-in screen and plenty of buttons, comfortable etc.
Only restriction at the moment is the lack of caller name on the screen. Just have the caller's phone number at the moment. I think this is the Universal's fault though, and I fully expect it to be fixed with a ROM update.
Bluetooth is perfectly reliable for me on my XDA Exec with this headset. My old Sony HBH-65 was much less reliable: almost unusable.
I agree with Silicon the BT800 is a good headset and works for me okay with my Exec. But I have found the cheaper SE HBH-608 has a much better battery life (usually 5 days) and is lighter and more comfortable, but it does not have a LCD. A BT headset with a LCD is a must I think when using the Universal. The Caller id I think need the headset BT profile which I am not sure will be in the next ROM upgrade. Finally, I would also recommend you look at the Tekkeon ET3000 (if you are in the USA) and the latest SE headsets with advanced DSP and LCD displays.
I have the V3 BTH-8 OLED headset.. Sadly, it just shows the number but not the caller name for Dopod. Supposedly, it will be able to offer function to browse phone book thru headset, but I guess that's for other phones not for our wonderful phone
Globalsat BTH-818 . Much more moderate than the brick from Jabra. Otherwise same functionality (minus the vibrator). Much better battery time too.
Which one is the smallest bluetooth headset at this moment? I like small one.
I love my Sony Ericsson HBH-300 Akono headset. To be honest compared to some they make these days it looks quite large, but battery life is fantastic and sound quality amazing. I've never been a fan of the ones where microphone is nowhere near your mouth, but that's just me.
Oh and it's large enough so people can see I'm actually on a headset and not talking to myself, but not so large it's uncomfortable to wear (quite opposite!)
Great! Thanks for all your replies! I've placed an order for Tekkeon ET3000. It should be here by late this week or early next week. I'll see how that BT headset goes! 8)

I don't know about you, but I had this headset and only had issues with this particular one. Mainly static. It just did not sound great, even with the device only a foot away I had severe static. I don't recommend this unit to anyone. Even my wife stated that I sounded as if I were in a tunnel.
Everyone I've had stinks.
I cannot recommend anyone to you since every one I've had really caused severe static. I've had the Jabra BT 250v and it had static, I have the Motorola H700 and again, static. I don't know if it's my Qtek 9000 bluetooth stack or what, but I'm using a wired headset without any difficulties and the sound is incredible. I am fed up with fighting with the bluetooth headsets if I can get two of the most popular (and expensive) ones to work with my $1000.00 "phone."

Plantronics Voyager 640 and Jabra JX10.
I am somewhat "stuck' with a Motorola HS850 since it's the only one that works with MS Voice Command.
Motorola HS850 i been using, the boom is cool flick it in and out to answer/end calls. Its a good head set saves you from wearing it all day. It folds away nicely in you pocket and has decent battery life.
Only bad thing is though it takes alittle time to wake up once you lower the boom but always switched on works fine.
Hi
I'm using an (old) Sony Ericsson HBH200 and the big news is since i upgraded to the latest Orange ROM 1.30 (from Dopod 900), i can now get caller ID and access the phone call list from the headset. (PS:i have also a Jabra 800 and i did not manage to get the caller ID but i did not insist that much as i much prefer the HBH200). No need anymore to open my phone
cheers

You mean caller "NAME" or caller "NUMBER"? Which is showing? :?:
i've done some more test, it appears that the HBH give access to the call history including full names, phone number and date of outgoing or incoming calls.
Actually this is exactly the liste you can see in call history from the Universal.
That's something new from my former dopod ROM
On incoming calls, it seems that it still displays only the phone number not the full name, that is still to be confirmed for local numbers as i used internationnal call to make the test.

Best BT Headset with voice command

Hey there. I've been looking for a good headset that works well with the TyTN.
What are people using?
What is known to work well with this unit? Do i need a radio/rom upgrade? i'm on 1.03 for radio.
I've began with the highend Sony which was crap, then moved to the Jabra 250v which has great loudness..but it kept breaking up & losing connection. (The handsfree would work once then need to re-establishing the connection to get it working again)
I really like the Jabra ear piece how it actually goes into your ear canal and hoping to find something else like that style.
Anyone other Jabra users care to comment? (breakup/disconnection)
Would moving from the Jabra 250v to the Jabra 500v make an improvement in its stability for me?
Nokia HS-12W is the best for me. But like the rest of us, in order to solve skipping and get better sound quality, you have to get fit4kat tweaker and TaskManager. BTW, the range for this headset is around 3 meters, go beyond that and the sound will start to break up

Incomming Caller Hears Loud Buzz When Using Bluetooth Headset

Any ideas what could be causing this or more importantly how to fix it?? Thanks! the headset is a aliph jawbone
Did you try using a different headset? From my experiences, even the same brand of headsets can have different voice quality depending on the model.
it is defiantly not the headset. This brand is the BEST ONE on the market. I just reinstalled my phone and have the same problem but i refuse to believe it is the headset. I am going to try it on a different phone tonight.
it could be the jawbone.. and no its not the BEST ONE on the market as u put it.. try another BT and see if u hear the sound.. if u dont then guess what its your BEST ONE jawbone.. but if u do hear the sound its your bluetooth so try updating the radio
i tried the jawbone with another phone and it works on that. So it IS the wizard. And yes it is the best, unless you happen to have a recommendation for another one because it looks like i might be in the market for a new one. Any idea what i could update my radio to? I just updated to molski.biz's newest rom so i have
ROM: 3.3.0.0
IPL: not included
SPL: not included
Radio: 1.19.11
AKU: AKU3.3
i really want to get this thing going this headset is immaculate.
okay i updated the radio rom to 2.69 and it is STILL happening. I have found one other report of this happening with a wizard on the web somewhere and there was no solution on there. Is it my wizard? Other bluetooth things work fine (my GPS works perfectly) And once connected This one works gine also. it is just this initial loud buzzing noise.
It doesn't even happen if i pick it up form the phone then there is noise.
it only seems to happen when i hit the "call accept" button on the side of my bluetooth headset.
i remember my jabra 250v not working w/ my samsung t809 but other ear peices would.. however, my buddies jawbone works with my 8525.. i recommend taking the ear peice to cingular store and have them try to pair it with one of thier phones.. either a 8125 or 8525 or even 3125 and see if it works without any issues..
i think i am going to do that on friday. i have like another 20days before i have to return it. Thank you for your help. This is so lame i really REALLY love the headset :-/
I use a Motorola Handsfree BT kit in my car and with my 8125 callers hear the same thing. It's not as loud if I hit the answer button on my phone vs. the Motorola remote answer button.
It was a lot worst before I flashed my phone with WM6. Seems better now.
My theory is that it's feedback from the phone's mic with my set but if you are using a headset that wouldn't be the case.
My callers will have to put up with it.
Scott
sounds like the exact same problem
so lame. i wonder if it is hardware defect.
I have an MDA with a jawbone as well and my callers say they hear the same loud buzz!
Okay so it is probably a problem with the phone it self, i bet it is how sensitive the mic is. The Jawbone and it's very sensitive mic and a bluetooth car one that also probably has a very sensitive mic both have the issue. I wonder if theres any solution to this.
Try turning off the vibrate option on the phone- that solved this exact same problem for me...
can anyone verify that? i stupidly returned my jawbone yesterday before i saw it cause i had given up hope but i'd gladly by a new one if that was true =) (headset > vibration imo) Thanks!
I have a Plantronics 640 and disabling vibrate solves the problem for me.
So. Lame. Oh well. looks like i need to rebuy my headset. Doh. Thanks all for your input. Someone should add htis to a wiki/faq as it is a very cruddy problem.

Tilt, AT&T Stock ROM, Microsoft Voice, and Bluetooth which work - PLZ Recommend

Greetings,
I have reviewed the Bluetooth vs. AT&T Tilt vs. Microsoft Voice threads, and cannot find a specific answer, so I am going to try to ask a narrow question here ...
... does anyone who has (i) AT&T Tilt with (ii) the AT&T ROMs, (iii) Microsoft Voice, and (iv) a Bluetooth Headset have all 4 working perfectly together? I need to buy a bluetooth headset, and the forums are littered with problems with Voice announcing, or problems answering the phone thru the headset, etc.
That's why I am just hoping to hear from someone who has all 4 of these things ... that work together. Any recommendations for the bluetooth headset are appreciated.
Thanks
My Tilt worked great with the stock ROM, MSVC 1.6.17913 and my BlueAnt Z9 worked flawlessly including announcing calls over BT.
Thank you!
I will look into the BlueAnt Z9. Thank you so very much for responding.
Of course ... if anyone else has the combination of stock tilt/voice/bluetooth, please let me/us know what other adapters might also work.
I did not have any issues with the Motorola H700 and MSVC 1.6.17913 on my Tilt.
H700
Andre - I recall seeing some mention of the H700 on other threads. Can you (please) confirm that you can answer the phone thru the bluetooth, and that call announce works?

I keep my unit on vibrate and ring and this is the way I tested it. I first placed a call using my office phone to my mobile handset in the "vibrate only" and "vibrate and ring" modes. When my mobile handset was on vibrate the notification came through to my headset with audible tones and my mobile vibrated, but no voice announce from MSVC was heard. When I switched the handset to normal vibrate and ring mode (assume this works on ring w/o vibrate as well) MSVC announced the caller through the headset and nothing audible was heard through the handset. I would say this headset is 100% compatible with the Tilt and MSVC.
Bought the Z9
My Z9 arrived today, and it does answer the phone, engage in voice command, etc.
Pretty nifty (but expensive) bluetooth.
Thanks!
Glad you like it. I hope you give us a nice reveiw after you play with it for a while. I am contemplating moving up because I have had this same type of headset for years now HS810, HS820, HS850, and the H700.
I've got AT&T Tilt, Stock ROM, MS Voice Command 1.6.17913 and Samsung WEP200 all working together.
Also, in MS Voice Command, there are options to select the source the phone calls are made from.
Go to "Start" > "Settings" > "Voice Command"
Click. "Notifications" button and the options that come up are...
-Announce notifications using Bluetooth hands free only
-Announce notifications using Bluetooth hands free if available
-Announce notifications through device speaker or wired headset only.
v 1.6 nad jabra
i still cant get it all to work on my tilt like my 8125...8126 was the bomb with vc. tilt is so nice but not with vc
I tried out a plantronics 665 the seemed to work well, but I didn't care that much for the headset. Returned it and got a nxZen nx9000, and it doesn't seem to work with voice command. Not sure why one works and not the other. Anyone care to speculate, or state with authority, why the 2nd headset doesn't work? Thanks.
Anybody knows how Logitech Mobile Pro Headset works with this combo?
Thanks

Is the Jawbone working with all this? I broke my last Jawbone, but would definatele get another, assuming it would work.
My Jawbone works with my Tilt with the stock ROM. Make sure you install VC before you pair your phone with the headset. If you already paired, delete the pairing and re-pair after the install.
Thank you much.
Now I've got another issue, somebody said "BLUEant" and I saw went looking... I like Blue
Trying to decide between the Z9 or another Jawbone. Comparitively they're about the same with the Z9 being the smaller and more "attractive" of the two, and it also costs alot less. Not to mention it's firmware can be update.
But the big plus for me is that it's BT 2.0 BT 2.0 + Firmware upgradeability make it a serious contender in my book. The Jawbone is in it's prime... whereas the Z9 could get better.
Can't decide at the moment...
I also have the Tilt and Jawbone working together but does anyone know if it is possible to issue the voice commands via the headset. I can only talk into the phone to make it dial a name and then the call is directed to the bluetooth headset.
has anyone got this to work all through the headset.
I couldn't imagine it not being possible... I managed to use the Jawbone with the RAZR V3 in or to use voice dialing and it worked decently.
Jawbone and voice dial
Have had a Jawbone paired with my tilt since I bought it. Works perfectly except calls are not announced through the bluetooth, but important e-mail subjects are read through the headset when they arrive.
The Jawbone is sometimes awkward because it gets loose on your ear/cheek if you move your head alot and then sounds like your talking through a long tube.
Thinking about trying blueant, but haven't heard any glowing reports yet.

There are plenty of fantastic reviews for the BlueAnt Z9. It seems to me to be just the same as when I was researching the Jawbone. You'll either love it, or you'll hate it.
The big plus to me with the BlueAnt is that it's warranty is fantastic (2 years compared to the Jawbone's very specific 1 year warranty), it's BlueTooth 2.0 Stereo (should result in better sound quality as I plan to use my Kaiser as my MP3 player as well), and the big plus for me is that its firmware can be updated. Thanks to the firmware, the Z9's limitations are moreso a limit of it's firmware than it's hardware, whereas the Jawbone is fixed.
With that said, I loved my Jawbone... and I'll still be using my current one while it's still functioning (it's falling apart... Jawbones aren't very well built I'll say that) and comparing it to my Z9 when it gets here.

Hi URPREY - I have the same setup (with the official ATT ROM update 1.62.502.0) working, but instead of announcing the callerid info, I'm hearing "please answer or not at home" through my Blueant Z9 via my Tilt. Any ideas?

Bluetooth audio "piping" APP needed

I have looked and read and Googled the interweb for several days now, I am in search for an app similar to MS Voice Commander, which is for WM devices? I loved the app immensely on my tytan/touch pro etc and was trying to find anything remotely close to it for Android. Any help is appreciated. At bare bones minimum I would like to find some way somehow to pipe all audio through a mono Bluetooth, which this did on my WM devices.
I do not know if it is possible to do so on current Android builds, but I never assume anything to be impossible when it comes to this site.
same thing
I found a few solutions, but non of them worked for me. You should try to call ** (dial ** and than call). Maybe it'll work for you.
There's an app too, called Sound route switcher http://www.appbrain.com/app/com.omercade.headsetProjectII
It couldn't help either.
I hope somebody can help us.
Same problem
At WM6 there is a registry tweak to transfer a ringtone to the bluetooth headset. It's very usefull when you don't want to take a look at the screen everytime you want to know who is calling.
Is there any way to do it at Android?
Help us, please.
Ill give the app a shot, although im sure its a long shot at that. I find it amazing that the demand is not higher for this.

I am really surprised we haven't found a solution for this. I would be willing to pay a good chunk of cash to make this happen.

You and i both! I was finally able to get my Blueant Q1 to update to firmware 2.1 (not the android OS) so now i can do a2dp with it. However i would pay for the ability to hear ALL sounds through the headset of my choice. I know my Jawbone Icon is supposably slated for a2dp firware upgrade in the future, but neither one of these are my headset of choice - and its ever changing.
*update* Icon has been updated to a2dp firmware!! Im getting closer, now if i could getting piping on any headset.
Bounty on Bluetooth voice dialing
$100 to the first one who can enable decent Bluetooth initiated voice dialing and voice prompts on the Incredible. If you need an example just pick up and featurephone like my E815...works great.
ill pony up
Ill offer $50 for an app that will work for android 2.1+ that will pipe bluetooth audio to mono BT headsets. Much like the before mentioned winMO app. My testing BT headset will be the MOTO HX1

I have the Q1 too. I just purchased it a couple of weeks ago. How can I make it send audio to BT?? I have a spring hero.
Just something I have been working with -
Does anyone know the android bluetooth service name? can we pipe audio from "MediaPlaybackService | Bluez" ?? I just don't know what the bluetooth service is I guess.
no idea on the service name.....The q1 can be updated by d/l and installing the firmware on the blueant website.

did anyone find out anything about this? im having the same problem on my hero200 i have a mono bt headset and no music will play, no matter what app i use through the bt headset, i tried everything. if you have found out anything to this old post please pm me or something i would love to find out how to get audio through the bt mono headset on the hero 200
Here is the solution I use.
Super BT mono. It is in the app Market. It is $3. Money well spent in my opinion. It has a widget you can toggle that sends all played audio to BT Mono headset. I am using an LG 235 and it works great. The audio quality leaves a lot to be desired but I am only listening to podcasts while at work. This $3 app and cheap $15 mono bt headset sure beats the crap out of a $50 set of stereo a2dp headset for casual listening. Here is link to where I found my solution.
Crank my tunes through EVO to Plantronics Voyager Pro via Super BT Mono Froyo Pro. Funny name but it is a one of a kind app. Its in the market.
I have a jabra halo stereo headset. I can listen to music just fine. However, ringtones don't get routed properly to the headset - instead its the default jabra ringer. As a result, I have to look at my phone to see who is calling.
Is there any solution to getting ringtones to play on the headset?
bump bump for bluetooth
Works for me
SuperMonoBT Froyo works great on my HTC Inspire / ATT / Plantronics Voyager Pro. A bit of static from time to time, but otherwise fine. It automatically switches back to speakers if you turn off the BT. Menu includes an item to automatically pipe to the heatset if it is connected, which it did when launching Google Maps Navigation.
