Upgrade Success - Shadow General

I tool the big leap! It was met with success. Was able to upgrade my Vogue to Rev A/GPS using the Sprint rom. Everything went fine. No issues. The advice I received was most helpful as well as the read me notes that was included within the file. YOU GUYS ROCK!
Now, the real fun begins. Finding a mapping program to use with the GPS. I ran across a rom that requires the user to install a program that will install the 3.37.15 radio version. With the new upgrade to my unit the current radio version is 3.42.30. Isn't this considered a downgrade? Wont it create hardware issues? Feedback is appreciated.

Might want to put this in the correct fourm. This is for the Juno aka TMobile Shadow. The Vogue is a different unit.
Now from a general Radio standpoint, yes technically it would be a downgrade of sorts to go from 3.42.30 to 3.37.15. While it may be considered a downgrade it may be better to use one version over the other for performance issues. I know that on my Wizard, Radio 2.40.11 worked better than any of the newer versions fr use with TMobile in the states. Some people had better luck with other Radio versions using Cingular\ATT in the states and others with different versions in different countries with different providers and so on. It is all a matter of which Radio works best with your ROM\Carrier\Location.

Danger in changing radio rom?

Anyone know if there is potential brick-danger in changing a radio rom? I currently run the Cingular 2.25.0001 .. and was wondering if the T-mobile 2.19 was better and if it was safe to replace my G4 8125's radio rom with the T-mobile one..
Thanks

I had i scary moment in my first flashing days when i tried a radio only updater that didn't work and i lost the ability to connect to active sync. I then discovered phones could be flashed from boot loader and fixed it with a full official ROM.
But the answer is NO, a radio upgrade does not brick the phone and you can upgrade just the radio (gsm_data zone) by using an updater made for that purpose.
The question is: is the file well made? are the addresses correct?
Two choices:
Make your own radio updater. Easy these days with all the tools and info
Get an updater from a reliable source or from places with positive feedback by other members. I believe there is a thread for that in 'Wizard Upgrading' section
Hope it's clear, good luck.
cheers
Yea I flashed it to T-mobil radio 2.19 .. worked flawlessly.. i havent run into any problems flashing ANYTHING yet.. I think i am getting lucky.

Radio Version Change

Hi Friends,
My actual Hermes radio version is 1.16.00.00(what does it means?)
Questions are:
1- How can I upgrade (for free) my radio version to a newer one?
2- Which radio version do you recommend?
3- Will affect the device in somehow after changing it?
4- Will the change lock the device?
5- I live out of USA, will it work without problem?

That radio version is an early one - but hey it works ok for some folks.
To upgrade I suggest for those who need a step bt step process going to XDA members site Mrvanx:
http://www.mrvanx.org/cms/
Whether you need to upgrade depends on whether you are having any problems with the one you are using. An upgrade may improve network connection/signal etc.
The change will not lock your device and there are advantages going the Mrvanx hardspl route.
Suggest you do some searches in the Hermes Upgrading forum if you want to read up about the radios.
Keep in mind that there are folks here who will Flash ROMs and Radios like there is no tomorrow and must have the very latest one out. This is not necessary if your current set up works for you!

Go to the Mrvanx link in my above post. Trying to do this any other way would require a steep learning curve and a lot of reading. Mrvanx guides tell you step by step what's going to happen and what will be installed.

Did you even read the link? It tells you what to do.
Plus, your not giving us much info to go on. And actually, I'm guessing if you searched with some of the details of how your nosgm started, someone probably already experienced it and has a conclusion of how to fix/couldn't fix.
help me please infor me step by step
No GSM showing means that something went wrong with the radio rom upgrade.
I suggest that you try to downgrade to the official rom for your device. Then you can upgrade to whatever version of OS you want, but make sure that the rom does not contain radio upgrade.
The Issue "No GSM" is because of bad sodering contacts between the QC and Samsung flash or the Samsung CPU and the contiguous flash (samsung) and it resuts all the strange behaviours of this HTC model. Anyway for me it's another proof of samsung quality
Low emission soldering + thin ICs (big foolish sandwich FLASH/CPU) + over located Keyboard = possible cold/bad contact soldering problem.
The proof is the many "NoGSM" issues got without any trying ROM update, or the too many 2XX errors during upgrade.
Do you have a problem with the radio not working?(not able to receive signal, make/receive calls/text?) Cause i had the same problem. Anyways, the way i fixed it is by dissasembling the 8525, and reassembling it back together. Then i flashed the official wm6 rom with 1.48 radio, and it works fully now.
I heard that no gsm can occur with a failed radio flash, which i think is unrepairable, except by replacing the motherboard. If it wasnt a failed radio flash, then i think theres several methods to remedy it. Just try all the methods including mines. Hope you get it to work, theres been too many "no gsm" errors lately. Whoever designed the 8525 should be shot for making such a weak phone.

Please help me, my Dopod 838 Pro has No GSM!

To flash or not to Flash. Please advise.

Sorry if this is a really n00b question but I figured this would be the best place to ask it.
I live in Australia have recently purchased an HTC HD2.
It is the GSM version (non Telstra) and I am using an Optus 3G GSM SIM.
The current ROM version is 1.48.831.0 (71294) WWE The current Radio Version is 2.05.51.05_2
I want to know if it is safe to install a more up to date ROM on the phone as when I browse the australian website, the only ROM update available is for the telstra version of the phone and when I enter my serial number I am told that my phone is not supported.
I am able to use a different serial number to download a more up to date ROM from one of HTC's international sites but I am scared I will brick the phone or make it not work with my Optus SIM anymore if I install it.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Hi
You can absolutely flash the device with any stock or cooked ROM.
If you prefer to go for a stock ROM, the latest one is WWE 1.66.405.2.
You can download ROMs here:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Leo/ROMs
If you go for a cooked ROM then obviously look for the developers page and read up on the ins and outs of his/her ROM.
If this is your first flash, I would recommend having a read of this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=609477
You are also welcome to pop over the Whirlpool forum where you will find several people who have flashed their devices with new ROMs (stock and cooked).
The thread is long and there are several preceding thread; however, read the last few pages and jump on in. There are plenty of folk there happy to offer advice and support from our sunny shores.
By the way, I flashed the non-Telstra device from WWE 1.48 to 1.66 without a problem.
Perfect! Thankyou for the reply!!!
OK so I just finished reading through all the info on flashing and am feeling much more confident now.
Just one more question, what radio version did you install to go with the 1.66 ROM? or didn't you need to upgrade it, if so what version are you running?
EDIT: Depending on what image you use, it would appear that the radio ROM is flashed with the ROM? correct?
Thanks
EDIT2: I just figured out that I can download the official rom from the Hong Kong HTC site. It accepts my SN so I wont need an additional bootloader to install the rom.
The version is 1.72.831.1
The URL is http://www.htc.com/hk-en/SupportDownload.aspx?p_id=297&cat=2&dl_id=906
Successfully flashed 1.72.831.1 last night using the standard bootloader.
Took about 6 minutes and no issues at all. Took about 40 minutes to get everything set back up the way I had it before so not too bad.
Straight out of the box the phone seems far more responsive than it did with 1.48. Faster still with the Glyph cache tweak and VSYNC off.
Radio signal seems better and the WiFi seems to be reliable with automatically connecting to my configured netowrks as I move around.
No negative side effects as of yet!

I'm sorry I didn't get back and respond last night; however, it sounds like everything has run smoothly and been a success.
Excellent news!
I find it so satisfying flashing a new ROM. It's kind of like purging the old and starting afresh with something new that suits your needs.
Have fun!

[Q] "Best" 6.35 radio for Europe/Greece

Hello all!
I've flashed Capychimp's RCRogers2.1 v3.0 ROM along with an 6.35.16.19 radio. In http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=659403 it is mentioned that when comparing radios the "... two last suffixes (631.2; 401.2) are regional numbers. These roms are different by regional content only. Other roms have same situation."
So, and if I understand correctly, the last two digits do not signify software version. However, in http://cleanimport.xda/index.php?threads/605239/ it is mentioned that
Upgrade from 6.35.07.29 to a new version
You can upgrade radio version from 6.35.07.29 to 6.35.08.29 or 6.35.10.18 without wiping, reflashing or losing any data.

Therefore, it seems that the last two digits here indicate version.
Which is true? For my ROM (see signature) which would be the best radio for Greece? The one I have right now? 6.35.10.18? Other? Any help will be appreciated.
You seem to be comparing versions number of radio and rom - which are not the same at all.
Anyways, 6.35.10.18 should work fine - the new radio that came with 2.1 seems to make troubles with my phone now, so I would maybe suggest not moving to that.

Actually not; comparison is on the grounds of different radios only.

Like I said, I already have 6.35.16.19 installed. It works perfectly. No FCs, no problems whatsoever. My original question is on the grounds on whether another radio, 6.35.10.18, would be more optimized for technologies used in Europe with regard to 3G. Or, perhaps, with regard to specific voice tuning for GSM in European countries.
In this context, is 6.35.10.18 (or some other radio) more "suited" for operation in Europe than 6.35.16.19?
