Locked out of Phone - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 ROM Development

Hi all,
I recently applied the WM6 upgrade http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=372485 to my PDA.
However, I removed the battery so I could take out the SIM card, and now it won't accept my PIN anymore. It seems like the registry has become corrupt and does not recognise the PIN anymore.
I can't get into the phone, and a hard reset does not work (I know how it's done, unfortunately). I have also let the battery drain completely (including backup), and it does not hard reset the phone.
What can I do? Are there any tools that can wipe the device through USB?
Thanks!
Problem Solved: Flashed device with provider's original ROM upgrade.. I see this is an issue with WM6

have you perform the hard resett this way ?

Cool, thanks for that. Should help for the next time
Have to disable this Corporate PIN policy now..

How to *really* hard reset Universal to factory condition

With all this talk about WM5 devices not really resetting everything after a hard reset, and my device being dead and not recovering after a hard reset makes me think, there must be an alternate way to really hard reset a device back to factory condition.
I tried a lot of combinations of presses to no end. The only thing I am suspicious about but did not play with is a red/white round sticker (which looks like it is hiding a button) under the battery (upper left corner).
Anyone know what that is, or is there a way to do a harder reset? Taking the battery out for a few days did not help either.
Because flash memory actually needs erasing rather than just resetting I doubt it is possible to clear it with a simple button press. It may be you can do a normal hard reset and hold down a button to bypass loading data from the flash then format it. But I've no idea really.

Re-flash the ROM?
uuummm some where in this forum i read that if you have wm2005 and go to boot loader mode you get an option over there to clear the cache or memory something like that, and that would give you a clean installation.....
haven't tried it though.....and i doubt i would get such an option in wm2003se, also i have a similar problem i did a complete flash reinstallation of rom to my device and after the installation i opened windows media player (wasnt the first thing i opened, but didnt copy any files)and guess what....i had a song available over there..... which i could actually play and it did....i checked the location of the file and it was somewhere in my device or documents dont quite remember i did a hard reset again and same issue....
after that i have'nt tried anything the rom is same i just deleted the folder manually but i would also like to know how to TOTALLLLLLY ERASE ALL DATA from the device and clean install everything
regards
on the XDA II and WM5 you hold down the buttons to resent stage then i gives you three options. One of these I am sure clears the phone
I hard reset my Universal several times (well I think I did at least)
Press the soft reset plus the two "-" buttons and you will have a white screen asking if you want to put back your HTC back factory default
Unfortunately that standard hard reset, doesn't do it. I am still stuck at reboot, and the radio rom version shows the attempted upgrade version (01) that started the problem in the first place.
i tried some of them according to herein, but some of them were not function.

there's a little icon called "clear storage" which brings your settings to the factory's default. what's wrong with it?
i'm stuck too in bootloader with my mda pro

Click to collapse
This may be too late, but there's no way to do any sort of a reset to revert back to a previous ROM... the only thing you can do is reflash the earlier ROM.

ok ... now the final BIG request ... who can give us an update that works. the patched Maupgradeut_noid is not working with the latest upgrade.
thanks.
To revert back to clean copy of OS (i.e newly installed OS)
Hi,
Just to share with you my experience in reverting my phone to its original OS condition. Before that, just to give you guys some background.
1. Upgraded from PPC2003 to WM5
2. Tried install some patch to enable file transfer (OBEX) in BT
3. Suddenly, the phone screen gone missing. Phone shows No Signal. Cannot receive call.
3a. Did a OS reflash again, but still does not solve the problem.
4. **Panic for a moment **
5. Looked thro Program Files, and seems like some appln i installed were not erased despite doing a hard reset. So, i guess the hard reset doesnt erase some portion of the memory
6. Googled for a solution, but most said do hard reset
7. Went back xda-developers.com site to look for solution
8. Finally found a method. see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1164331 to do a format on the memory
Now, my phone is working fine. The phone screen is back and it shows my telco name, and can receive call
Hope this helps.
Rgds,
Choon
you're in the wrong forum mate

Atom can't boot up after a soft reset/hard reset

Hello all,
I have a problem with my Atom. After performing a soft reset or a hard reset device can't boot up, it stack on "O2" image. To open again the device i have to take out the battery. And this doesn't work with the first time.I have to take out the battery many times. I've updated it with the latest firmware, but i have again the same issue.
Please help me!!
If it won't boot up at all and you have the option of returning it, you might consider that. If you fiddle around with it in this state and you do something that would void your warranty on an already non working device it would be a shame. On the other hand if you have already messed upgrading roms and the like check the forums there must be a way to boot into a bootloader on the Atom and a way to restore it from a backup (I have a Wizard so I'm not too familiar with the Atom, but I'm pretty sure there must be a way to restore it). Remember though if you still have the option return it and get another one. Hope your able to fix this, good luck.
Unfortunately i don't have the option to return it because i bought it used from another person. And if i had the option to do this, it's a little tricky because i live in Greece and it must be returned to Hong Kong!
In that case check the forums there should be some info around there. If I see anything, I'll be sure to let you know.
boot up after a soft reset
Hi there
I faced the same problem and i managed to fix it by booting to bootloader mode and reinstalling the rom.
If you asking how to boot to bootloader mode just press SR button+Cmera
Good luck
masr1979 thank you for your interest!
ZaZuRaZ thanks for the reply! I'll give it a try and i'll post any feedback!
ZaZuRaZ i did what you said, but the problem is still there.
i duno if this will help but i had the same problem before. the thing was when i performed a soft reset it was too quick, thats why the atom froze on the o2 screen. i read the manual and it says you have to press and hold it, so everytime i do a soft reset i hold it for 2 seconds (let the o2 screen flash twice before releasing it) and it should be in off state. works fine now with about 90+ soft resets.
I had same problem... In my case it was from third party software - Softic card export. HR help me solve this problem.
I have the same problem at least 2 times and HR won't even save it. (Take out the battery doesn't work for me either)
Like ZaZuRaZ, I fixed it by booting the Atom in the bootloader mode and re-install the rom.
Isn't that HR should bring the macine to manufacture setting and I really don't understand why HR can't save the machine !!!
Mine is on the way to Hong Kong for comatose condition
I sold my Atom because of this problem.
Now i found one Atom-it's amazing device, maybe the best ppc now-but i'm stuck if i'll buy it or not. I don't want pay too much € again, and still got the same problems.
Dammit, i don't know what to do.
hey...whats the SR button for bootload?

Reseting unlock password

Hi to all!
I`m new in this forum and ba world.
Last week purchased spv m2000 with wm2003se and simlock. After reading wiki I unlocked SIM, unhided an unlocked EXTRom , resized DOC and upgraded to latest radio rom and wm6 (thx Helmi for great job).
I did also some set up things in wm6, for example password (something like - "if device is unsed for 30 min. you must insert password") same as my PIN.
My battery after whole day of exploring new features and programs became week (10% - you may loss your data..., etc) and I decided to push power button and replace with another one. But I forget that other one is also week (5%). After soft reset and booting wm6 asked me for a password to unlock system - and I was surprised coz wm6 told that password is incorrect - apparently lost all my settings.
Hard reset and boot options helped with sweeping whole system. So I must now install again all programs and patches.
I don`t know if this is normal wm6 behaviour (I`ve read wm6 is data lost proof - this feater was major cause of upgradind) or I did something wrong with switching batteries.
Best regards
I do confirm this problem.
If unlock password was set, after you changed the battery,in the first boot the phone would be No radio,so you should reset it again. Then the problem came, all the password you typed was incorrect, you could not get into the desktop.
Even after you hv hard reset your phone. You will also need to clean the registry, that is incredible.
Can any one figure out it?
It is a serious problem.
Same problem
I have just the same problem that with my PDA2k. I upgraded to WM6 and put in a Phone Password. When I came to reboot the device and enter the password, it was not recognizing it ( tried to hard reset etc but still got stuck on the Password screen no matter what I do?
Any help on this pls pls?????
thanks

Trinity P3600 have this problem too
Hello, I just got the same trouble on WM6 Trinity P3600 (AXL ROM from 2007-08-30). So possibly this is common DOPOD ROM bug?
Also have the same problem with XDA IIs. Tried to reload the new ROM but the enter password is still there. Any other solution?

100 points !!!!
this is called hard reset it wipes all of your installed software and settings. it is like freshly installed windows
Dear Xplode , what on earth is the reason behind the blocked password and reseted clock if u remove the battery ? ( backup batter working ). Another question , any idea if i can use a 3rd party application replacement for the Lock application ?
Karim.
prophet upgraded with wm6 hv this problem too
One easy tip
Before you replace the battery, turn off security lock on device. Works for me and is not too.... much hassle.

Screwed my elf! Please help!

Hi guys.
I recently installed Onyx Micro on my Elf, and it's been great. I needed a "Home" panel though, so I installed a Home application that I had on my memory card, and after that reset, my phone's been unusable. When i turn it on, it either hangs, or gives me an error that says something to the effect of "phonesyslog has malfunctioned", and then freezes.
I can't get it connected with Actiesync, I can't hard-reset it either. Any idea what I can do?
Can anyone help me?
Hi,
Did you try removing the memory card? In case that doesn't help, try pressing the camera button while starting up, this should enter the bootloader mode, which enables you to flash a new rom. Do this in Windows XP, as Vista can cause problems. If you've never flashed a rom, try searching this forum for an appropriate rom and a how-to-guide.
Regards,
murosama
Hard reset should work and should be all you need to solve your problem. Make sure that you are performing the hard reset correctly.
For a hard-reset without access to the systems menu do the following:
Make sure the device is switched off, then press both the green and the red phone button and while keeping them pressed switch on the device.
A menu should appear, asking you to confirm the hard-reset.
(Upon confirmation, all data will be erased and the out-of-box state will be restored.)
In case that doesn't work, try flashing a rom that is native to your device
(as suggested above).
Good luck,
murosama
I got the same problem i tryed all off this but didn`t work did you find a sollution for yours?

!!! Factory reset warning !!!

I just factory reset my phone by dialling the reset number into my keypad and it bricked my Phone, got stuck in boot. I Was using VillianROM 1.1.
it could have been a fault with the phone though as I have just taken it back with s sync / charge problem which turned out to be a problem with the port.
I would not recommend resetting if you are on a custom ROM just to be safe. Wait for CMR so it can be flashed from SD.
But you can stil access bootloader and therefor instal new ROM i hope?
you may be able to if you phones syncs, mine didn't but I think that was another fault, I just wanted people to be aware this could happen, this may have been a one off.
