NO GSM FIX FOR SOME PHONES:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2276981#post2276981
POST #56
I am making this thread so someone can please help us users of a HP hw6900 Series with the "NO GSM" startup message.
I have a HP hw6925, NO GSM, my product was under warranty and I recently sent it in to HP, , it would cost almost $300.00 for a new board, and I had the warranty at that time.
My next attempt to try and fix this issue will be what is posted at the link below.
If anyone out there has any "Sable" Backups, post in this thread, email me at [email protected]
I will post them on rapidshare, and alternate sites for everyone to download.
This is a huge problem. These HP hw6900 are nice phones, most of us still want to be able to use them as a phone, and a "PDA", some of us right now inlcuding myself can only use them as a PDA, or not at all, I will posting links later today, that should get any SABLE from the "Stuck on Bootloader Screen".
I am willing to donate to anyone who is serious about helping us fix this issue if it is possible, without replacing the mainboard of the hw6900, I will also be calling HP, and post the part number here and actual price for the hw6925 board.

5. Click have disk, Browse to location where USBAS is extracted, choose the wceusbsh.inf file, Double Click.

Do you have at least a 1 - 2 gb minisd card?
If so download mtty here
http://buzzdev.net/downloads.php?file=75
If you have Windows Xp, (CTRL-ALT-DEL) end process for wcescomm.exe (something like that).
put 6915 in bootloader mode, connect to usb port, press ctrl-alt-del, make sure activesync process is not running (WCESCOMM.EXE .......)
Start the mtty1.42.exe program
you should see:
USB>
now type
d2s 60000000 800000
If you have any problems please email me or im, [email protected]
Alot of people need this file, if possible, I am willing to even remote desktop connection, if you are unable to extract the radio rom.
Let me know what happens

Okay, I'm also using a hw6915 with original german ROM, and I'm interested to get an to help getting WM6 on it.
Where is the problem? So many HTC devices have been got to run WM6. I thought the 69xx has also been built from HTC. Is there such a big difference, or is the "Sable" just a rarely used device so that no one knowing how to do is just doing it?

I am using the hw6915 with english uk original rom.I would like also to see the wm6 on my device..But the problem is that the developers will not fix a version for this device, because they are not interesting for this.We would be lucky if somebody of them had a device like ours and he had the grazy to make a version for this, for his own use,but they have Htc all of them and our mobile is old for their fancy now...Too bad..

any progress on this?

no progress at all, no one to help, or even a email reply back

my knowledge is limited in this area, but I am more than willing to help, I did provide a partial backup to you about a month or so ago

I'd still love to see a Windows Mobile 6 or 6.1 upgrade. I'm not sure how I could help. Does anyone else know why no one has cooked one up? I'm guessing no one who can owns one of these things.

I have a 6955 and will be doing a backup soon. I will post it as soon as I have it. Lets get things rolling.

This link should help with raw ROM dumps through the bootloader.

1996-2003 Microsoft Corporation
ROM version : 4.01.12 ENG
ROM date : 12/22/03
Radio versin : 6.24.00
Protocol version : 324e4

i cook at http://www.romkitchen.de/ , i choose : WM2003 ROMs : 4.01.12_ENG.exe
I think you have choosed the "Fix 'multiple resets make device slow' bug " Option for cooking the ROM....
Just remove the wm03hotfix.exe file that is located in the Windows\startup directory....
Then this error shouldn´t appear any more until you make a hard reset of your device, that will restore the ROM including this file....
Stefan
not appear again
thanks for the advice...
only can delete wm03hotfix.exe, at
\Windows - \StartUp
Cannot delete wm03hotfix.exe at
\Windows ... (attch)
also when i wan to delete directly from my device, still cannot??
but thanks anyway,he3..now "error : this program only works with Windows Mobile 2003 (4.20.1081)" not appear again

Do not use larger SD-card then 2Gb.
Format the card for FAT.
Copy the flash.dio file.
Power off the phone. Battery must be full.
Insert the card.
Push the mute+record+power buttons simultaneously.
The firmware upgrade will start automatically.
That's all.

i suggest u take a look on forums on how to installate a custom rom, but since its friday and i am always ready to go home from work i thought, lets be helpfull lol
step one: by the looks on what u write u dont have activesync installed on the laptop: go download Activesync from Microsoft website
step two: read the following topic http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=311403 and in that way u can unlock your phone for custom rom flashing
step three: download and install a custom rom of your choice. U could try to start with one of the roms of Shady313. They are downloadable @ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=546805
be very carefull what u do, try to read several topics first like http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=308242
look around on the artemis forums and read the topics which concern flashing rom subjects.. u might learn a bit before you start flashing [or wrecking ] your phone
Hello, you original wm5? I have problems with the P3300, is cid locked, if you please upload somewhere wm5.and do not make the mistake of another rom on the phone without unlock CID first.
Yes, the original wm5.
How to update your HTC Artemis
Those having questions on flashing (i.e. updating) their HTC Artemis could try following these steps 1) Backup e.g. PIM Backup 2) disable standby and hibernation then remove SIM & SDHC cards 3) if necessary then cid unlock 4) recommend hard reset or update to the latest official build 5) if necessary Update SPL to latest 1.11.cmon 6) flash new rom then hard reset 7) put in SIM & SDHC cards and enjoy the result of the hard work by the developer
Also check out this thread Uspl/rom upgrade/tips&tricks

Is this rom for G3 or G4 flash models?
I can confirm the flash works on 6955 series phones
some instructions....
well there are links to the files in the 4pda forum at the top.

Warning:

if you have any other Flash chip type it is not confirmed to work and may cause your PDA to be inoperable.
Steps:
1. put pda into bootloader mode: hold two buttons next to Send and End + power + push reset button with stylus
(with activesync running) extract the SPL vG.39.7z file and double click on "Command Prompt"
2. then type in :
Code:
pdocwrite spl -n0 -b 0x20000 0 0x80000
wait till it's done
3. double click on the activesync logo in the taskbar, make sure to disable usb connection to the device.
4. extract the 6915_ENG.7z file and run the Sable_RUU.exe file and by now it should start flashing....
5. when it's finished flashing double click activesync again and re-enable usb connections and that's it.
Experience so far...
NOTE: These files only flashes the O.S so it wont' affect those with the NO-GSM problem.
So in order to get more people to try this, I'd like to share what I've tried so far :
What works:
Phone: Sending and receiving calls
SMS : sending and receiving messages
Wifi: Connects to both Open networks, WEP, and WPA WPA-PSK (though there is a known bug with WEP and WPA in WM6.1, right now a workaround is switching wifi on and off really quickly and it connects fine without using odyssey access client) but other than that it works normally. A possible patch could fix this, but I haven't tested it out yet
Camera: Takes both photos and video
Notes: Audio note recording feature works.
What doesn't work:
GPS: I haven't managed to get this working so far but it might just be an issue with settings (the program I tried was Garmin Mobile XT)
MMS: I can't seem to find feature in messaging app.
Bluetooth: Profiles are missing so I can't properly pair with devices EDIT: I tried this again and managed to pair with a headset
Haven't tried:
Tethering: Since I don't have a data plan with my provider, it doesn't allow me to use GPRS/Edge except to check account information on mobile browser or unless I buy a 24/hr package in bulk so I haven't tested this.
....But I did manage to make a GPRS connection to check my account info.
O.k good luck everyone

It's in english, it does support changing the basic regional settings like before... but I am sure the possibility for other languages is more likely once more people start getting involved with dissecting the ROM in kitchens.

Hi Jambongo! Can you please tell me if second half of step 1 and the whole step 2 - is only for bootloader upgrading? or is it some sort of patch for bootloader? Also please advice what's code instruction all about? Is it the same code for all ipaq 6900 series? And finally, did you manage to get the GPS running again? If so, I might just give it a go also.. Thanks a lot
Best regards,

My P3450 is nackered. lol

My farther has asked me to sort his new phone for him, not sure where he got it from but it's a HTC Touch P3450...... I think, and the Windows is in Japanese.
I did some searching and found that I needed a English Windows Mobile Rom and thats where all the problems started.
1. I cant Hard Reset the phone. I hold the 'talk' and 'end' buttons while reseting and the phone just boots into the Windows. (I do hold the buttons down)
2. I cant get the Bootloader Screen, the TriColour screen. I downloaded 'enable-rapi' and followed the instructions but the phone always boots into the Windows.
3. I downloaded 'Touch3G_2.33.CO2.V33_host_by_mu' which I belive to be an original Rom, WM6.0. When I run 'ROMUpdateUtility' it goes through until it displays 'Verifying the information on your PDA phone' but the space on the next screen where the information about my phone should be, is blank. I click 'next' and the software says it going to copy to Rom over and to wait about 10 mins, and then the USB Connection drops. This happens EVERY time.
I also downloaded a 'device_info' program but I got these results

Any help with any of the above questions would be great, or maybe someone who has experienced the same problems.
Hi
There are 2 possibilities:
1 this is a chinese clone, do a search for these 2 words to understand. The clues are you can't hard reset with the normal combination and device info can't recognise it.
2 you bricked your device by not Cid unlocking before flashing the WRONG rom, Touch 3g is another device. If you can still use it normally then it's the first possibility.
BTW you also skipped the most important step before flashing: read carefully the wiki
Good luck
Many thanks Tito12, I have been looking into this a bit more but only managed to comfuss myself more. lol
I dont think its been 'bricked', if I switch the phone on normaly it loads in Windows and works fine - but in Japanese.
I have looked more into the idea of it being a 'cloned Jap WM' but nowhere seems to show any answers on being able to change the installed Rom to another one.
I have also found out that there is a difference between Elf and Elfin, I have been using the Elfin software, so I searched for Elf software and got redirected to the Elfin software.
I tried the CID Unlocking again, the info on the computer screen says its going to restart the phone into BootLoader but the phone resets and loads Windows - Aggghhhh
I also tried to Flash the Rom with a new WM I downloaded but the USB drops just before the Rom starts to install.
Also, you said 'BTW you also skipped the most important step before flashing: read carefully the wiki'. I hate to be a Noob but I have searched the XDA Forums for the answers and even tried the Wiki but still no luck. Is it something Im doing wrong.
Thanks all
Hi
This is the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=File:HTC_Elf.png
There's no japanese clone, chinese clone is a device that looks like the Elf/in but cannot be flashed with winmo tools. There are a couple threads dealing with it but AFAIK you have to find other ways to change the rom (if they exist).
Do you see IPL and SPL when you are in bootloader?
