Kaiser and Nokia CK-7W? - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Accessories

Hi,
Did anyone of you try to connect Kaiser to Nokia CK-7W carkit?
What I found out so far:
- theoreticaly it should work through Bluetooth
- no chance for a wired connection (pop-port) - pity
- someone somwhere tried and experienced a bad echo when using it.
Why this carkit?
It's installed in my car (bought it for Nokia E50 a year ago) and I'd rather fight a bit to make it work than pay for a new kit and its installation.
The alternative option is to ignore the kit, buy an active holder for charging and use Kaiser's loud mode.

I got a car with a CK-7W installed as well. The good news: it's on speaking terms with the Kaiser. Kaiser finds the car kit, pairing OK, car kit connects to the Kaiser and everything seems to work well, at least in the car. The other party hears an annoying echo, and nothing I've tried so far (mostly registry hacks found on this forum) has helped. It really is the combination of the CK-7W with the Kaiser: no echo when using a Nokia 3109 over bluetooth - no echo when using the Kaiser on speaker or with a bluetooth earpiece.
Using the Kaiser without carkit on its internal speakerphone doesn't quite work for me: I find the sound quality of the speaker rather awful. You might also consider a bluetooth earpiece: no echo on the other side of the line and good sound. Beware: the Kaiser only wants to deal with one handsfree bluetooth device at a time, so after I've used the earpiece, the CK-7W will not connect to the Kaiser. You'll need to select the CK-7W from the Kaiser's bluetooth menu, hold the stylus and select "set as handsfree" or make the connection from the Kaiser.

Thank you for your answer, ebaauw.
BT earpiece won't silence the radio during the phonecall - and I like this function very much.
On the other hand - people will hate me for this echo.
I will test it as soon as I receive my Kaiser.
P.S. I've just found this thread, you might want take a look at:
http://www.htcwiki.com/thread/1133213/HTC+TyTN+II+compatible+with+Nokia+CK-7W+carkit/post/8608956/HTC+TyTN+II+compatible+with+Nokia+CK-7W+carkit?t=anon

FWIW, the echo behavior is confirmed here as well. I also had it w/ my 8125. Kit worked really well w/ my old Nokia phone and a hard-wired connection. I guess I'm in the market for a new kit as well.

I've been using my MDA Vario III with CK-7W for about 3 months now, with no complaints from anyone I have spoken to. I have just left a couple of messages on my home phone to test for problems, having just wired in a Brodit Active holder - no echo at all. Maybe I got lucky....

Best setup for using both a carkit and GPS Nvigation?!

I am soon to buy the Magician in one of it's many forms. However noe thing i have been woundering is how am i am going to achieve the in-car setup i desire. Basically I need both a carkit (conversation through car stereo speakers etc) and i also want to run GPS navigation on the Magician. First of all is this possible? What happens if i am using the GPS and i recieve a call? Also what hardware are people using to achieve this as i assume i can't use both a bluetooth carkit and a bluetooth GPS reciever?! any hlp is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Tom
Hi Tom,
I've got an iMate Jam & recently installed a Parrot BTluetooth CK3300 GPS Car Kit into my 1999 RAV4. The installation was pretty straight forward for cars with ISO connection, simply put in the mic, GPS ant & control display, plug into the car harness & HiFi & off you go. The GPS part of the kit is simply & effective, I use Tom Tom Navigator 5 & it's pretty faultless, obtaining a fix in seconds. Here's the bad part, the call quality through the kit using the Jam is AWFUL. Making and receiving calls is accompanied by a loud, high pitched warbling sound which eventually subsides, but is replaced by so much interference that the call is unworkable. I know it's not the kit because my wife's SE T68i works flawlessly. Everything else about the setup works perfectly (pairing muting, upgrading via BT etc etc). This a MAJOR problem which I have sent on to Parrot & am waiting for a reply. I understand they are pretty good at customer enquiries and expect them to come back to me pretty soon. I'll post again when I hear something. Despite all the bad press the Jam gets I think it's the best one I've owned so far (I'm on my 5th) and with the right software is excellent, but the choice of car kit is essential, until these problems are ironed out I wouldn't recommend using the PDA with a BT carkit.
Apart from the poor audio, how does it work when you are being navigated by TomTom and you receive a call? Does TomTom stop talking to you? Does the display show who's calling and then go back to tomtom display etc?
Hi there,
I have a MDA compact with now the QTEK 1.12 ROM, I have a bluetooth GPS Fortuna Clip-on and a Mr Handsfree Genius Bluetooth Carkit and I love it.
As soon as I start my car, there is a bluetooth connection to the carkit and the sound quality is excellent. You can make a call without getting the MDA out of your pocket, just push the button. The only issue is voice dialing, but that is a common problem for the MDA.
Also it makes a bluetooth connection to the GPS and Tomtom works fine. The only minus is that Tomtom doesn't use the carkit speaker, but, since the speaker of the MDA is loud enough, that is no issue. There is no supply with this bluetooth carkit, so I bought a 12 --> 5 Volt converter for the MDA.
I really love this combination. The best thing, that happened to me.

so it is possible then to have two bluetooth connections running at the same time? ie. i can use a bluetooth GPS reciever such as the one that is supplied with tom tom and also use any bluetooth carkit at the same time? and this will not cause any problems even if i am making a call and have the GPS running?! If so then i will probably just buy the Tom Tom 5 bluetooth kit and get something like a parrot CK3000? would this setup work?
thanks for everyones help,
Tom
It should work. Mine does. See above. Bluetooth GPS uses a serial profile, bluetooth headset uses a headset profile. No problem to use them both at the same time.
Andre
I used my Jam as phone, mp3 player and GPS all at the same time.
1. MP3 thru my car's aux input
2. GPS thru aux input:
hardware: Tomtom BT receiver
Software: Routis 2, TomTom USA 2004 (can open both if U use GPSGate)
3. Phone thru BT headset or aux input
To answer yr question:
Since I can use both BT GPS and BT headset together. I don't think it's a problem for both BT carkit and BT GPS to works.
Phone call always get highest prioity, all other apps (GPS software, mp3 player) will be mute until U finished yr call.
Phone call is not a problem (see above) but dialing is a big trouble since no voice calling built-in. Third partner software like intellidialer and voice commander (from MS or Cyberon) helps a bit
Ive also got my jam working fine incar. I use a socket bluetooth gps unit http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=119717 with tomtom 5 then I have a SE HBH-600 Akono Bluetooth Headset for calls both work together! When I have a incoming call it mutes tomtom and displays the normal caller id app on top, answering the call (via the green hardware button) results in my jam going to the phone app totally and leaving tomtom minimized in the background. As soon as the call ends tomtom jumps back to the foreground, it all works very well in my opinion. Ive also assigned the camera button to switch me back to the today screen so I can launch any app (with tomtom still running in the background) via a icon.

alpine car kit

can anyone give me any idea what's the best car kit to use with my alpine while using tomtom 5 plz thx ............
My XDA IIi Car Set-up
I use the Globalsat BT-338 - Bluetooth GPS Receiver with TomTom Navigator 5.1.
I also use Checkpoint 5.02 (Free Speed camera software) and this is configured to give me detailed voice warnings, it takes a bit of setting up but once done it is the best, saved me a few silly points and fines. I have some very good voicefiles if you want them let me know and I will upload. Link below for Checkpoint.

I use a silmline car holder with addon interchangble functions is here, I have it sucker attached to my corner of side window, rotated to landscape view as I find TomTom better in that view. They even do an extra adapter for my Mountain Bike. I also have the Vent Holder, which is very sturdy, but you cannot rotate to landscape view only portrait view, but still usefully. They do the car charger as well.

As far as headsets go I use a Jabra 250v, but it is ugly and I am going to try the new Sony Ericsson Akono Bluetooth Headset HBH-610 with digital noise cancelling, automatic volume control and Echo canceling, looks good too, I hope it does what they promise.
I hope this is helpful
thx daz999
you've been a great help and if its possible i'd like those extra voices ,once again thx
RE: Checkpoint Voices

Jabra 250v?
Hi Dazz
I notice you're using the Jabra 250v with your 2i - how's the sound quality?
I bought one too, but gave up using it as I couldn't get a decent signal between it and my phone (2i as well).
Perhaps you did something I missed?
Cheers
Re: Jabra BT quality
Hi,
No I agree with you the Jabra doesn't work well with 2i, I've had the same problems myself, so much so I've stopped using BT headset at the moment, I use the loadspeaker function in the car for calls and also wired headset that came with the 2i.

Just to throw another bit of kit into the pot, my missus bought me a ThinkNavi cradle for my birthday which I find very usefull!
OK, it isn't as portable as a BT unit, but it certainly makes it easier to hear the directions at high speed!
http://www.thinknavi.com/thinknavi/pda_cradle.asp
I have a THB carkit with my 2020i but it suffers from a lot of echo during calls. I also have a BT dongle for this carkit and calling via the dongle and the THB is a lot better than with the fixed cradle for THB.
any knows a fix for the echo effect ?

XDA Exec & bluetooth headset; does it work well?

Hello all,
I'm considering moving up to the XDA Exec; especially now that I see many contributors here have worked out how to get it running well.
However I suspect that, with its bigger size, using a bluetooth headset will be even more important. My experiences with my XDAII were that it was never quite reliable enough to use day-to-day (even after trying different bluetooth stacks etc.)
So what are your experiences:
- does it work well
- how about the voice dialling via bluetooth
- caller id on compatibale headsets work?
cheers,
Pete
I'd say it depends on your headset, but yes: The Exec handles my Bluetooth headset more reliably than my XDA2 did.
I've got a SonyEricsson HBH-65 that was occasionally great and occasionally infuriating with my XDA2, but it seems much happier with the Exec. It's not perfect since it's tough to interpret the various bleeps and boops that the headset gives out and understand what they mean, but I'm getting used to it. It'd be a lot easier if the headset makers could give us more than one button...
With my HBH-65 and my Exec I can receive calls and use voice dialling to make calls (provided I've configured the voice dial commands already). The voicedial bleeps are a bit quiet in the headset but trial and error might improve things.
Some people seem to have problems using voicedial if their Exec is closed and turned off, but I don't seem to have the same problem. The first press of the headset button switches the Exec on and then a second one gives me the voice prompt.
Hope this helps
I've tried a Bluespoon AX and a Plantronics Discovery 640 with my headset and while they both appear to work fine functionaly, the quality of the audio is bad. I've tested the same bluetooth devices with other phones and the quality is much better.
Does anyone else have this problem? I'm going to go into to O2 later today and see if they've had reports of this before. Maybe I have a dud device.
I have an Exec, a Jasjar *and* an MDA Pro the Exec is mine, the rest is Eval.) and the Exec and MDA pro handle BT Headset fine. The Jasjar however keeps dropping the connection between the device and the headset. Flashing the MDA Pro with the Jasjar ROM made that the Pro also started dropping the connection between device and headset.
Conclusion, something is flaky in the Jasjar Rom.
There are a number of posts relating to this dropping of connection in this forum.
G'day
I have had the Jabra BT800 for a few months and never used it as it was pointless with the XDA IIs, but it works perfectly with the JasJar. It even rings about half a second before the phone does and shows the callers number (pitty it doesnt show the name from the phones contacts).
I am happy i didnt sell the BT800, as now i can keep the JasJar closed in my pocket when i just need to answer the phone.

ive used a jabra bt250v no problems voice dial is much better and works fine but i havent found how to get the audiogaeway working any ideas anyone so i can get tomtom throught the headset
JJ and Jabra BT 800 work well and voice dial works very well. Have made 1.5 hours in the last two weeks and not dropped calls. When used inside a car or in a room the signal is okay but as soon as you use the Jabra BT800 and JJ outside the signal gets weaker.

Bt pairing to a nokia ck-7w

ive searched for ck-7w in the hermes section but finds nothing? surely others must use this handsfree kit?
Well my issues, my hermes wont find it when searching for bluetooth devises? Never had any issues with my wizzard?
ive tryed a few different wm6 roms, now on the black.
Is there a cab somewhere to fix this, as i cant, use this phone until i get it sorted with my car kit
Hi fil,
I can't speak to WM6 but my 7W works well (usually) with my 8525 WM5 ATT Upgrade Rom. I remapped the ptt button to activate the built-in voice dialing. Sometimes the system announces the name throught the 7w speaker, other time via the 8525 speaker. Who knows why?
The quality of the recognition software is fair. I am planning on re-recording some of the voice tags in the car via the 7w mic. I have a feeling this will result in greater accuracy. It has to do the the acoustics where the tags are recorded.
My BT settings in the 8525 are
Mode = Turn on BT and Make device visable
Devices = add new device, if it finds it, click on Nokia CK-7w & check off Hands Free, at the bottom of the screen hit Save
BTW, the 7w data cable 5 volt lead does not have enough balls to charge the 8525.
Let me know if you get WM6 working with the 7w.

You've already tried to reset the CK-7W ?
Especially when your Nokia Carkit has an other mobile paired in his memory (an old one for example) it won't pair the Tytn.
Worked for me (reset CK-7W).
After that my carkit works fine with yhe Tytn but has proplems if I wan't to pair a second (Symbian) phone.
alylea, my tytn wont even find it, when searching, have ticked the make seeable to othe devices, the method you discribe works perfectly as said on my wizard
davw, reset the ck-7w how?
tho the ck-7w can do up to 7 phones in its memory i belive, had no issues with a wizard and 2 different nokia all paired on it allready?

Click to collapse
again how'd you reset it? dont have the manual
still aint working, see unable to see the kit!???
anyone?
right its working now?, done nothing different?
was sitting in my car thismorning doing a bluetooth search for my new stereo headset i picked up from the PO on my way to work, it found it and the carkit , and paired with both!
well problem solved, but **** knows how ???
No idea what did the trick but here is the Nokia Europe site for the manual.
http://www.nokia.co.uk/A4222096
So iGuidance voice instructions do not come out of the CK-7W speaker not do the voice dialing confirmation names, although basic HF function works. I'm testing an inexpensive application that routes all audio from the 8525 to the BT output. I'll let you know if it works.

TOMTOM instructions on hands-free

Can enyone tell me if it is possible and how??
I have a Parrot 3100 and works fine for calls but can't put it saying nothing that comes from TOMTOM.
I have a friend that one time he heard the tomtom on a head-set.
But only one time and never more.
He doesn't know how!
Can enyone help me?
seem to recall people saying it works if
gps is connected first and then headset
You need a bluetooth headset with AD2P proflie. The standard hards free profile will only route calls to the headset. That said, if you press the voice dial button on your headset when an instruction is being read out, you will hear it in the headset (once only) - probably what the friend experienced.
Hi. I use a piece of software with my standard bt handsfree.
Chartcross Bluetooth Audio Router
The sound quality isn't stunning, but it lets all sounds that usually come from the inbuilt speaker to go through the handsfree instead
Tryed Chartcross Bluetooth Audio Router on my Trinity WM6 using hands free car kit (Delta System)... When activated it switches off the car speakers (like when calls arrive) but sounds still are on the speaker of pda...
Do you thing it will be necessary a reg tweak?
THX
No idea sorry. I only got my Trinity 2 days ago. I was using a prophet before which worked fine with it. I'll let you know if i do find anything though
IN MY HAND-FREE car kit my tomtom turned off the radio and instructions in car speakers.
right now that doesn't happen.
Infortunately i've tried so many roms i don't know i used at that time, and how make car speakers work again. Any help?
