Font size in dailer and extensions - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

Hi All,
I've searched hi and low but no one seems to ask this question.
I always use the international format when entering phone numbers in my dialer
+1 (999) 999-9999 x 111
when using the dialer (smart dialing) once I have found the contact, I can't see the last number when I have no extension.
I use the dialer to find numbers when I need to use the land line to dial as the airtime is expensive.
The other problem is when I have an extension entered in the dialer seems to dial and then end the call.
If I replace the x for the extension with a p it seems to work, is this normal?
Thanks in advance.
This site is great!!

I do the same thing except I do not include the leading '1' and I have no issues.

cant dial numbers that start with +1

hi, recently after a rom change i am unable to call numbers starting with +1 but when i try to edit them and remove the +1 and try the call it works.. what could be wrong.. i tired to change the radio version and also played different rom s available but nothing seem to solve this issue... can some one help me with this pleasee
I'm not sure if this is the answer...but who is your carrier? Cingular/ATT has a International Dialing addon to your plan. Is it possible that this got removed somehow? If that isn't added you can't call Internationally..
I dunno though..just a guess.
I'm running Black Satin and +1...etc works fine for me.
my provider is rogers, toronto and i read that many others in the forum are not having any problem with rogers.. so i guess it must be my handset
... and How do You change the + International Dialing Code?
I have no troubles using the + dialing code, however, I travel constantly and find that many countries (Thailand, Australia, etc..) have competing companies for international dialing. Is there a way to change what the "+" means? Example: In Thailand the use of the "+" preceding the country code automatically replaces it with "001" which is the high priced CAT service. If I go in and change the "+" to "009" I save heaps of money on each call. How can I change this temporarily so when I leave here, I don't have to go back and once again replace the 009 with + ??? Any Ideas? Thanks!
well if ur with rogers you have no need to dail +1
if its long distance it will auto dail for you
mazdaspeed.. the problem is not that i want to use the +1 but many of my saved contacts have +1 before their no.
the best eg is when i save a new number from an incoming call it will have +1 before the no. and it saves like that..so the next time i save a no. i will have to edit it..
i found 1 more thig more interesting.... this +1 issue is only with calls that i make to local phones i mean in toronto and not to calls to usa
well i just tested on my phone and it works fine im using Shaps 3.54b

Is there any software which can do this?

Basically I am looking for some software which, on receipt of an SMS will initiate an outbound call to a number in the contact list on the phone.
something along the lines of :-
SMS received from 1-555-5555 containing the word CALLBACK and a password.
Phone then dials 1-555-4444 or any specific contact as defined in its config
it doesn't have to use the contact list but must be triggerable remotely.
Target device is a HTC Hermes. and possibly a StarTrk
The program doesn't need to be stealthy, it's to initiate the call with full permission from the owner but without intervention.
Partly it's for my grandfather, if I give him a Startrk then I want to be able to activate a call remotely if I get notified that he has triggered his medicalert system, so I can try to see if he is ok without him having to answer a call.
I googled, and found nothing, I'm hoping someone here can either write an app that can do what I need, or suggest a product that will enable me to do this.
Auto answer is too generic, I want it to be just for myself and not all callers, and the password is because there may be times I just want to send a generic SMS
Sounds like you are talking about an SMS Callback trigger, though I have never heard of a mobile based one.
I always seem to want the impossible or the unwritten maybe it's time one was written?

just unwritten, it's not impossible
pretty easy actually
i'll try to throw some together this week if/when I have the time
try this
Just place it on the phone and edit the config.ini if needed default settings are:
trigger = CALLBACK
password = pass
I tested this on my TyTn2, and it seems to do what you wanted, the program will activate the speaker when calling (can be changed in the config.ini)
this way if your grandfather cannot reach the phone he still be able to talk..
But test it before use, I'm not sure how sensitive the mic of the phone is.
I do like the idea so I'll probably add some more functionality
- auto pickup on call from fixed number
- status
- call/sms log
Let me know what you think.
PS. this was created for a touch screen device not a smart phone...
also I can not be held responsible for damages, phone bills etc.
but that goes without saying ..right
-=edit=-
tested by sending an SMS to myself, the program then called my number, but when i tried with a friends phone it didn't work
let me know if it works for you (if you have 2 phones)
also make sure if the number you send it from is in your phonebook or not (could be the issue)
-=edit=-
that is the issue, working on it
Issue solved
now I need to figure out how to replace the attachment
I'll add it in a new post
I also believe SKSchema can do this in watch mode. Actually SKSchema can do lots of cool things in watch mode.
new version attached

build a cab, also added apptodate support
is it just me or does it seem to autodial the number that sent the SMS?
one addition would be the facility to set the option that if number X sent the SMS then callback to number Y
example - if I am in the US I will have the number 1-555-1234 but my grandfather is in the UK - +44-555-5555
I run a voip line with a UK DID number such as +44-555-6666 so when the SMS is received from 1-555-1234 the return call goes to the +44-555-6666 instead of the US Cellphone (cost reasons lol, UK landline free, international call of any length = US national debt)
Here is a SMS Trigger I built, do not know if that satisfy you.
Check rk-SMSSwitch under my signature.

Program updated, you should be able to run apptodate to get the new version
don't you love just that program

Sorry, i just noticed this reply
To be honest i wasn't planning on creating one, but i could give it a shot
the biggest problem is i don't have a Smartphone to test it on..
I'm sure you could probably find a few testers in the forums, there's quite a lot of people on here!
I'll obviously be willing to test anything you are able to come up with. I don't know where you are located mr gee but on ebay UK you can buy an old Orange spv c500 (HTC Typhoon)or c600 (HTC Tornado I think) really cheap now. There are also WM6 roms available for these devices on this site somewhere.

I already checked eBay, and there might be some good ones but I don't want to overpay
I'll keep it in mind
Attached is the same program but compiled for a smartphone, I'm not sure if it will work, I remembered I have an emulator for smartphone installed, but I received an error message when running the exe.., I think because the CF.NET wasn't installed..
let me know
I tried it on my QTek 8500. The exe ran but all I got was a window with a blue background and the words "SMS2Call v. 0.03" in black.
No buttons to press or anything, had to use Task Manager to exit it. Which id did without complaint. Thanks for trying, some work may be needed I think

Currently that is the program
Could you try to edit the ini file?
in case you have 2 phones, add the number from the 2nd phone in the file
save and run the program
send an sms from the 2nd phone with the passcode mentioned in the ini file
your 1st phone should call this number after the SMS receipt
I know the program doesn't look like much but i might fix this in the future
when i do i'll also look at the exit button.
the reason i didn't was because the application was for an older person,
this person could be playing around with the phone accidentally closing the program ...
I looked in the .ini file and then tried sending a text to the phone containing the words CALLBACK PASS. I tried this with/without a space, up and lower case, with the program in the background or on screen but it didn't do anything. Do I have to put a shortcut in the Startup folder or something? Or am I not formatting the text message properly? The sending phone number is in the contacts list if that makes a difference.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Could you just not set his phone to auto answer ? - that way you can call him any time.

not really, assuming it works maybe it has to do with the formatting,
Callback should be in capitals and pass in lower letters.
when I tested this with my TYTN2 it worked the way it should.
also did you enter the default number ? e.g. the number that will be called?

[sarcasm]
Gee why didn't I think of that...
[/sarcasm]
Seriously have you read the thread?
the topic starter didn't want it this way for several reasons...
Default number and closed flip
I didn't enter a default number because I want it to respond to any number that sends the text. I deleted the DefaultNumber line from the config and it worked, to a point. The phone I'm running it on is a Qtek 8500/HTC StrTrk, which for those who don't know, is a flip phone. My problem is this, if the phone is closed when the text is received the call is made but cut off immediately because the phone is set to hang up calls on closing. Nowhere can I find a setting to stop this from happening, anybody have any ideas?

Problem with Inesoft

I use Inesoft and, suddenly, I have a problem: when i push softkeys in dialer or in ABC to look for a contact, it does not do anything (before, in top file of dialer appear the names of the contact as it matches with the key pressed).
If i look for phone number, it works well, but not for name.
I have deleted and installed it again, but the problem goes on (I think that it makes not a complete desinstallation because in the "new" Inesoft i have the Favorites as i had in the previous one.
What is happening?
Thank you
Try this
In dialer
Options > Find Contact By Phone
My Inesoft work good.
Carlos
The problem exist
Yes I have the same problem (in othe forum the same HTCmania)
Do you have a register copy o other, mine is not legal, may be that in this case all the soft fail in one day, may be?
If i have some alternative I will write again, please the same for you.
Tanks and sorry for my english
CArlos
With Find by phone number, it works well, but it is not with this option not activated (it must show the contacts as it matches the keys you are pressing).
I have one with "medicine" so, it could be possible that this was the reason, but I reinstalled it and it goes on wrong.
Inesoft issue solved
Happened to me...
Versions 4.4 becomes unstable after some time.
Use 4.2.
Its perfect with no issues as above.
Different Problem
I am also having a problem with Inesoft (although im using 4.2). How can I prevent the standard dialer from fighting with the inesoft when i get a call, as right now both are showing up....thanks
Hello,
Someone tried Inesoft Phone 6 on its HD2?
http://www.inesoft.com/eng/index.php?in=phone.html
It is not clear, there is no LOG, there is always the version 5.07 forward, I can hardly understand the organization's website and Forum Inesoft
I installed on my HD2, but he said that the trial has expired, so I just made the upgrade from 5.07 to 6
If anyone has NEWS ....,
Inesoft 6
I've tried Inesoft Phone 6 too - on Touch HD.
The Caller ID screen shows no accept/reject call buttons!
Not sure what's going on with that outfit...
I've made numerous support requests and have had no responses.
The website is still showing 'Christmas decorations', so obviously hasn't been updated for a while.
The Phone 6 page title still says 'Phone 5'
There's no user manual for Phone 6
Shame, as I've found earlier versions to be the best WM contacts app available - ability to store multiple mobile numbers per contact being my main reason for using it.
Has anyone used the Inesoft Phone 6 version yet ?
I have been using the trial version and so form it is a great contact manage, but it has a weird quirk , some number that you dial , the person on the other end cannot here you, what is strange it will only do it with certain numbers, no rhyme or reason to it..when i turn of the Inesoft dialer the issue goes away..http://www.inesoft.com/eng/index.php?in=phone.html
Oh anyone ever gotten a response from support yet ?
I had problems wit Inesoft, so I switched to Iconsoft pretty the same app but has some better features..

thank you , i will try this
I tried the following programs on my HTC HD2 with comments as follows:
1. Resco Contact manager Ver 2.0.5 - It is a stable and working good on my HTC HD2.
2. PhonEx (iconsoft) Ver. 2.0.2 - Not that stable than RCM 2.0.5 but more functions and features than RCM from my point of view.
3. Inesoft Version 5.0.7. - It is a good program for my application on my phone so far.
I did try Inesoft Version 6.0.0, I found more features and better than 5.0.7.
however, I only tried on trial version only.
Recently, I still keep Inesoft ver 5.0.7 in my HTC HD2 as I satisfy the performance so far, no problem at all.
How can i use inesoft but with the original WM dialer skin? Actually it is the "answering" skin that i liked...

Smart dialling not so smart...

I had the surprise to see that when you start typing on Keypad the name of a contact it only search from the beginning not anyware in the contact name... this is not quite good
Any call managers ?
I had the same experience.
My old pda with windows mobile find characters in contact name no madder there position but only there order.
It this possible with another phone dialer for android?

You might be able to expect this in a future firmware, I use the Korean version where they have better official support. I just tested typing "ley" and it picked up Hayley. Long-term you should be ok.
This was the question I posted right after I bought this phone, search market for dialer one, it will solve your problem until samsung fix this stupid smart dial
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App

HTC's smart dial can it be done for the Droid?

Title says all.
on the dialer for the eris, there is something called smart dial. enabling u to basically use the dialer as if it was a T9 keyboard to find people on your contacts.
The smart dialer recognizes 3 methods to find people. either, type someone's phone number and it'll match the number with the person ie i type 123, it'll finnish it with whoever has 123 in their number..
Or type 262 for the name Bob, and it'll find bob on my phone or..... type 5363 for J Doe
As the phone can also recognize the first letter of a contact's name and can Finnish it with the last name.
Can we port keypad on the droid?
Well, i know only DialerOne...it has 2 of the 3 requested functions...I use it on my milestone and I'm pretty impressed...maybe this helps?
Not sure about HTC's smart dial as I have never used it but on my droid I hated the stock dialer, went to Dialer One which was a vast improvement and replaced the stock dialer on my phone for good.
That was until I found TAKEphONE, it does everything you want and more. Takes a lil to get it setup exactly how you like. But I think that is a plus that it has so many different settings.
It isn't free but I can almost guarantee you will be pleased with it. Light years ahead of the stock dialer.
Tried to link it on AndroLib, but I am not allowed, a search there or on the market will find what u need.
