I just installed the BatteryStatus today plug in and it was working fine until i turned on the option to show the CPU speed. Then it just hung up. Now when I soft-reset it hangs when loading the today screen. Some of the plugins load but it hangs before BatteryStatus loads, probably while loading it. Any way I can get to my system to change that setting? I would prefer to not do a hard reset. But if I do, how do I do a hard reset?
Sounds like a hard reset to me....Hold down the two keys with the dot's on them next to your phone buttons and hit the reset button while pressing the reset switch and hold them down for a second or two longer. If you have a Memory card in on the 6800 I hear you may want to take it out if you don't want it cleared as well...good luck.
hmmm I went to do a hard reset... saw on another site that you press all the buttons and press reset. I pressed all the side buttons OK, Voice, On, Comm, Camera and hit the reset.
It went to a screen with red, green and blue (i think) bars and said USB at the bottom. Then I unplugged it from the USB and it switched to say serial. And it just stayed there. I didn't know what to do so I just soft reset it at that point. It then booted up and was working fine. Looks like the changes I made since the last soft reset had been cleared (I think) and it was now working fine and all my stuff was still on my phone (it doesnt look like it did a hard reset).
Was that not a hard reset that I did? or was it something else?
Sounds like you entered bootloader mode. I'm surrprised that a SOFT RESET took you back.......
You just did a Soft Reset from Bootloader mode, which to my knowledge is exactly the same as a regular Soft Reset.
A Hard Reset wil completely reset your device to original ROM status and wipe out all of your info/contacts/mail... ect.
If the Soft Reset fixed the problem then good deal.
I installed same app, had same problem and did hard reset. My problem was getting phone service working again. About 15 min. with VZW connection tech, entered a 26 digit number authentication key through EPST.exe system program to get my phone service back.
I also had the same problem as well. With a battery status deal like what your describing. All i did was soft reset a **** load of times and plug in my pw real fast and it came back. I have a scrolling task now that display all of it with 0 problems. I have it if you want it. Pm me your email.
Weird, I had tried a soft reset a few times and it kept coming back with the same thing, hanging halfway through loading the today screen. Maybe I just got lucky that time.
try this, i like alot with 0 problems

I've got an M5000...
recently, I did a reset, and upon reboot, I got stuck at teh orange default splash screen.
That was 5 days ago, and after several calls, I'm no closer to finding out why..
So, can someone confirm how to do a hard reset. (I've tried, but heard nothing.
or can anyone offer advise to get my phone back to fectory settings.. I've got a back up of my data, so I'm not bothered about loosing anything.
I've got qa 1Gb SD card, with very little info on it, and I've tried rebooting with and without the card in place.
Any ideas, before I pull my hair out...?

To do a hard reset on the Universal:
Press and hold both SoftKeys (the ones with the lines on that point to Calendar and Contacts on the Today screen) and tap the Reset button at the back of the device.
When you have done this you have a choice of pressing X to exit the menu, or 0 to perform the hard reset.
As a last resort (it worked for me)
Put the Universal into bootloader then connect the usb and run romupdate.
to put into bootloader
Power button + Voice record + Reset.
I tried installing spb pocket plus and, just after it installed, my Wizard didn't seem to be responding so I tried soft resetting it. On booting up it showed the O2 splash screen and then the Windows Mobile screen but nothing else. The screen goes dark as the backlight is turned off but you can still see the Windows Mobile screen showing. Each time I soft reset the same thing happens.
I've tried soft resetting about 4-5 times now and the same thing happens again. I've even taken the battery out and put it back in and the same thing happens. I was going to try reinstalling the O2 XDA firmware but as I can't get the Wizard to connect to ActiveSync I can't do that.
Has anyone got any ideas? At the moment I'm without my phone & all the PDA functions on the phone and I really want it back.
Thanks for any advice.
Matthew
Think you may need to do a hard reset to put it back to it's factory state. Should work then.
Thanks, I'd been trying to do a hard reset but it didn't seem to work - then it occurred to me that I was actually pressing the wrong button to confirm the reset!
Hard reset works and gets it up and running again although, from checking, it seems that there's some problem between sdp pocket plus (3.0.0.3888) as I've now installed that about 3-4 times and each time, after doing a soft reset, the Wizard crashes and won't respond.
Hi,
I have a tmobile MDA (wizard). I attempted to install some software on it, but disconnected and rebooted before it was complete (it appeared to be just spinning).
Now after a soft reset, screen shows only 'Windows Mobile' after booting, and none of the buttons work and I can't advance from this screen.
Is there a way to hard reset that doesn't involve using the OS (ie, I can't click on anything because it's not getting to that point).
Also in this state activesync isn't detecting device.
Thanks in advance! - Chris
Hold down (and keep holding) the camera button while depressing the reset button. Hopefully it boots into a tri-color screen. If so, plug it into the USB port and, at the bottom of the screen, it should display "USB". If that happens, flash it with a *known good rom*, such as a stock T-Mobile rom. Don't try to be clever, the object is to get the phone working. Once the flash has started, *get up and walk away* for 15 or 20 minutes. Don't check in on it, leave it alone, It takes some time. When you hear it's little chime, it's done, rebooted and ready. If any of the above doesn't happen or the flash outright fails, then you may have trashed it permanently. It doesn't sound like it's beyond hope yet, however.
i have the wizard and im having the same problem after installing a ROM from this website...it just goes to the windows mobile screen with the numbers then shuts off...id really like to save my phone is there anything else i can try because that hard reset thing isnt working

Well same thing happened to me a few days back.. I had to Cold Reset [which restored it to factory defaults], but hey I got it working again..
Press Communication Button [Top Left] and Record Button [Top Right] at the same time and use the stylus to soft reset..
You will get a black screen, asking you to press "Send" to reset to "Factory defaults"
Press "Send".
Hopefully you should get your MDA working again ...
I read the "Above" in the HTC Wizard Service Manual [PDF] on the *last page* under the "Cold-reset" Section..
Hi!
I've had my TyTN for about six months now and i haven't encountered anything like this. Yesterday my phone did a hard reset by itself. The phone had got slow and eventually, it didn't do anything so i pressed the reset button with the stylus. The phone rebooted but it took a bit longer than it usually does, and after the HTC-screen I got a that blue start screen which says "Tap the screen with the stylus to start using your phone" or something like that.
After setting it up all the messages, contacts and calendar notes (and of course everything else on the phone) had disappeared. After a few minutes the phone got stuck again; it didn't do anything even I tried to close the programs I had running (messaging and calendar). So I left it alone for a while to "think" but after app. 5 minutes it was still in the same situation so i pressed the reset button again with the stylus, the boot screen came on and nothing happened after that. I tried to reset it again - nothing. I took the battery out and replaced it - nothing. Nothing seemed to help. I did the hard reset and the phone worked normally again.
Has anyone any ideas what happened? I'm perfectly sure that I didin't press the soft keys while resetting the phone so I haven't done the hard reset myself. I'm going for a holiday to Germany and it wouldn't be very nice if something like this happened during the trip. I have guarantee left on the phone so I'll take it to the service shop.
I have this weird phone, I should say BRICK. My phone stopped working this morning after I cleaned the screen with a piece of cloth....the phone was in standby mode, when I did this.
Here is the story so far:
I was having problems with the hardware buttons, (messaging, internet explorer, the call and hang up buttons) the ones that everyone is been having problems with; so i decided to dismantling the unit following the steps shown on a Japanese website, basically by just looking at which screws to remove. By doing this all buttons functionality come back to normal so I had I fully working phone for about 3 days.
Now, all of a sudden the phone stopped working and refuses to go pass the "loading" message on the screen.
I decided to carefully dismantling the unit again, (I am now and expert in dismantlig dopos) but the problem persist.
I have also tried a hard-reset by pressing and holding the power button, the right/left soft keys and the reset buttong located in the lower part of the phone.....and still NOTHING.....
The phone was running Windows 6.1 (the stable version)....and now I am PHONE LESS...This is just incredible.....
Any help would be much appreciated....
If you are getting a message on screen saying "loading", taht does not go away, then your problem is not hardware but software.
The thing to try here is a full Hard Reset. (not a soft reset, have you tried this?)
Mike
Is this a Full Hard reset??
I have also tried a hard-reset by pressing and holding the power button, the right/left soft keys and the reset buttong located in the lower part of the phone.....and still NOTHING.....
Hard reset:
Press and hold the Left SOFT KEY and Right SOFT KEY, and at the same time, use the stylus to press the RESET button at the bottom of your device. You will be presented with a menu saying 'press R to reset, X to exit', if you press R Your device will be set back to factory default settings.

I have done the hard reset, however the Soft keys do not work, hence I dont get a menu saying 'press R to reset, X to exit'...so it basically continues directly to CRC's ROM loading message...just as before...and it gets stuck there......
I tried the other option,....Bootloader mode: Hold side OK and POWER buttons together and reset with stylus, and this options does work, but there is no mesagge only a screen with 4 color bands, red, green, blue and white...and nothing else.
If you don't get the message to reset yor phone then you didn't hard reset.
Oh well....thats what i suspected....now the problem is since the soft keys dont work, then I cant do a hard reset....and the more i try the battery gets and will eventually run flat, (since the phone is not recharging either) in another words my dear dopod is slowly dying.....
Well the reason it's probably not booting up and the fact the keys don't work are likely the same problem. One of the flexcable connectors is most likely not seating in fully. I'd dismantle and take great care with all of them. Make certain of the central one - the one with the tape on it.
Mike
Exactly .....but i dont really know why these phones have this problem....as I said before I did clean up the contacts about a week ago and presto...everything started working fine again, but after 24 hours the buttons started playing up again....so it is impossible that things will change in such a short time......
anyway coming back to my current problem, I tried and tried to hard-reset the unit and this time I pulled the keyboard out and pressed hard on the softkeys and after a while it did work .....so I managed to hard reset the phone.....it only had 14% left in the batterry.....lucky me!!!!.....so I went home and started carefully adding all the extra bits needed, and guess what???? right in the last update the phone, again, did lock up........Luckily now I have a degree in dismantling dopos....anyone would like to hire me???? and I am an expert in hard-resetting dopos with actitude.......
I am happy now with my resurrected doppo but I am still a bit weiry about the soft keys not working......
FINALLY ......A big thanks to you guys for your help and comments.....
