Hotmail only syncs inbox - Mogul, XV6800 General

I have downloaded the appropriate link to push my incoming emails through on Hotmail, but it will only sync the in box (incoming mail comes through and alerts as they should). All my other folders show up but are empty, even the sent folder remains empty just after sending an email...any suggestions?

hotmail only syncs inbox
Hey man:
Are the folders that you are missing selected to be synched? check the options you have on the bottom right-Manage folders;Make sure that the folders you need are selected with a check mark or bolded. Hope this help my man.

That did the trick.....I hate to be boggled by such a stupid thing. I looked all over the place for that option. Thanks

Can anyone tell me why I cannot sync hotmail through wifi ? It always tries to sync through GPRS/EDGE ! This is very anoying appart from being expensive !

No worries Dona2000, happens to all of us I know the feeling. Synching shouldn't be disrupted using w-fi,edge or whatever . Give some other details if you could. Sorry Dona if you are a dudette and not a dude.:

Nope, there's an "s" on there....dude is appropriate

I switch wifi on ... connect to my access point ... and then click send/receive button.
Then the phone tries to connect to GPRS/EDGE/3G (depends on the current connectivity and the nearest cell load) and start syncing.
If I cancel the GPRS/EDGE/3G connection syncing error is being raised.
The wifi AP used is operational and I use it regularly so the problem is not there.
BTW ... just tested it ... it does not work in ActiveSync connection either - I just think that Hotmail cannot be synced using alternative connection.

Sent emails not showing in 'Sent' box?

Hi guys,
I've had my HD2 for almost 2 weeks now and am loving it! It's my first Windows Mobile device and I'm learning new things every day.
Everything is set up and working well *touch wood* but I have 1 slight problem. I've been sending/receiving emails via my btinternet account on the handset without a problem so far, but once I've sent out an email, there's no record of it on the handset. It doesn't show up in the sent box and, having had a look through the settings, I can't seem to find anything related to rectifying this type of problem. Am I doing something wrong and/or can anyone help?
Thanks in advance
Yup i have the same issue, another bug, sure it will be fixed soon though.
Also you notice how it does not sync any of the other folder either, atl east on hotmail it does not.

Yep I'm having the same problem with my Gmail. The inbox syncs but no other folders sync even though I have selected them in 'Manage Folders'.
Yeah, I've noticed that. It's the same with Yahoo. I don't really mind that so much though to be honest. I just want the confirmation that my emails have been sent, it's very strange?!.
how have you managed to get your hotmail accounts setup on the HD2. i cant seem to connect to the server to sync my email? ive disabled the 'proxy' in the connections settings but still cannot set it up?
Could you pls give a step-by-step setup procedure?
its really appreciated, thanks

I'm also having problems getting my emails to come through. My btinternet email ones seem sporadic and I have to click on send/receive to get them to come through. My hotmail worked a couple of days ago but now nothing....and I know I've new emails. I keep getting the page appearing asking for my password and username poping up. Can't get it to sync at all. Whats the proxy setting you mention? Wheres that?
from inbox; menu/tools/manage folders, then tick the boxes to any of the fiolders you want synched and finaly refresh your mailbox.
By default, only the inbox is always synched.

The easiest way to synch your hotmail account is by using the windows live software on your Leo. Just enter your username and password and it will do the rest.

i honestly 'prefer not to' install all the live stuff... as i believe ppl here have been able to sync without installing this? would you know if this is possible (it would be better)?

You don't have to install anything, it's already there on your start menu. It simply automates your mailbox syncing.

Having the same problem, there's no tick box!
It is strange if you cant see the boxes at least for some folders. I have to choice for Inbox, Sent Items and Junk mail.
Anyway you can try to keep the finger on the folder to get context menu where are other Folder options. And there is something I would like to ask some advanced user - why I can switch there from "Download email headers" to "Download complete message" but nothing happens and from Hotmail account the phone keeps downloading just email headers. Btw. when using POP3 for my other email account I am able to set this option to Download complete message and YES, there it is running like a charm. But with Hotmail I am not able to succeed.
Anyone knows the clue?

ok maybe its a little late but i figured it out... ---> click on email--> click on menu--> new acc--> pick hotmail/live--> put login info--> if it goes to opera like it did to me or does appear below gmail or so forth on the email tab don't worry im gonna tell you what to do next--> find the windows live icon click it.. once ur logged in you will see Windows live Home follows by Messenger followed by sync--> click on sync--> a new option appears and it should be hotmail option to view your emails..--> now get out and go to your email tab..--> at this point your hotmail is sync to ur device and should be good to go..

thanks so much clown shoes this is so simple but so easy to overlook i spent hours before i found this now have my saved mails
thanks!
I second the above poster! The fix for this was so easy, but so incredibly counterintuitive that I don't think that I'd have ever gotten this on my own.

E-mail direct push and setup !

Hi there everyone
I have this issue setting up my Leo for the direct push.
The good news is ,I did setup the hotmail account as well the outlook for the "as it arrive " for the direct push and I found it that amazingly the hotmail arrive to my phone like in a fraction of a second "super fast" and that the outlook take a little while " I'm not complaining as long as it arrive" the only thing that it only push e-mails when I'm on the Wi-Fi connection.
However, when I try switching off the Wi-Fi no Push?!...... So what went wrong?, any ides, or anyone have better solution. Though when I do "physically" ActiveSync the outlook do receive the new e-mails. It looks like the phone doesn't sense the new e-mail.
Other thing dose anyone know how to receive push e-mails as well from Gmail and yahoo??
Thanks a lot
any help plz guys
I am interested in this too, my Gmail syncs fine. But Hotmail only works if i manually sync it when on 3G. It's greyed out in the email accounts section so i can't alter the settings.
The email setup is a bit of a black art to me on here. Maybe i should read the 310 page PDF manual.

The thing that I found a round-over solution for it by using a 3rd part application "Seven or emozeMail" to add ur e-mail account and it will do the trick for you!
However, this is not a really push serve from WM, I was looking for something without the use of the 3rd party app. Again, the hotmail as well the outlook do push when it is only on Wi-Fi!!! But not in the SIM net connection
By the way how did you set ur Gmail to act as push e-mail?
Best luck
no answer!!!
up...up...up i really need helop!!!
Stupid question - you do have Direct Push on under comm manager I guess?
have you tried turning it off rebooting then back on again
Have you tried performing the intial setup/sync over 3G and not Wifi?
I just set mine up using 3G and did nothing special and it syncs using 3G fine from Hotmail.
I didn't do anything special, so can't tell you how to magically sort it. Sorry.

If you want 'push' e-mail then it'll have to maintain a connection - either 3G or Wifi. It won't connect when an e-mail is received then disconnect once it's downloaded, it requires a constant connection for the device to receive the e-mail immediately

It's best not to use push e-mail unless you have an unlimited data plan! I'm not sure what you're asking: do you want to know how to set up an sync schedule? In the Windows Live options you can specify a 'sync sechdule' frequency, anywhere from every 15 minutes to four hours. You can do the same for an exchange/activesync account.

thankx alot for ur help. what i was trying to say that when i compare better the two methods ( the Data connection Vs Sechdule one) for me the data connection will be very costly !..what i was thinking of that if there is like a way to disconnecte the Data after it have pushed the e-mail
Actually, push won't increase your data usage. it may well decrease it.
Good point actually, just being connected won't cost anything without data transfer. Cheaper than repeatedly refreshing your inbox.

HTC HD2 and Gmail

ok, I've used the search button, found lots of stuff but not what I wanted or unclear. This is what I want: I want my mails from my gmail adress to be pushed to my HTC HD2. I want them to wake up the device and tell me, I have a mail ( like a text basically )
What do I do, what do I set up, I've tried turning on push, but it seems to be turning itself off or something, it doesn't look on when I go to the manager. If anybody can help me, that would be great. Ow, and we're talking 3G or edge, gprs, not wifi here.

There's no push feature that I know of, you set how ofter to check for new email, and in notifications you set how to let you know that you have new email.
There you are: http://www.google.com/support/mobile/bin/answer.py?answer=138636&topic=14299

Completely wrong.
kilrah is spot on, and it works extremely well. The only thing I would add is that it does add to battery drain, so I would disable it at night and other times it is not required. G-profile can be used for this. By the way, it will not work if you are connected to a computer using Activesync, and that computer does not allow connection to the internet (most work networks are set up this way).
so does this keep the internetconnection open all of the time, even when the phone is asleep? I suppose so?
I'm asking that because, when I put the settings on send and receive every 5 minutes, it appears as if the connection stays on after the first send and receive ( for instance, I check pxInternet and it has been connected for 40min ) and yeah, if that were to be the case, why not use push.
thx for the help so far, really, great and to the point.

Yes of course, otherwise the server would have no way to tell the phone there's something new for it. If you close the data connection in the connection manager it will warn you this also deactivates push.
I've found the idle data usage and battery drain is minimal (at least on 3G). Push on for one night drained 8% battery, which is pretty much the same as without it (~6%). Data usage was under 100kB, and I received 2 mails during the night. Makes great savings, as doing a send/receive on my IMAP account easily uses around 200kB, which would happen every 5 mins or whatever is set for automatic checking, and by extension less traffic = less battery usage...
EDGE might use more battery as there are more keepalive signals.
I agree with Kilrah, I have my calendar, contact and email all synced through google and i don't notice any obvious battery drain compared to when push is turned off.
I use ActiveSync to sync my Gmail account and the push works fine.

Because Google Sync works via ActiveSync, you can adjust the settings for ActiveSync (e.g. only during peak times). So no need to use G-profile.
PUSH mail is avalaible on GMail with HD2. Look here : http://www.google.com/support/mobile/bin/answer.py?answer=138636&topic=14299

As well as the battery/data aspect I would rather not have my sleep disturbed by the "bings" of new emails!
In activesync, menu -> scheduling.

At the bottom click on: "Adjust peak times to fit your schedule"

Sync issues
Anyone having any issues sync'ing with calender.
For some reason the only way I can sync at all is with that one disabled.
Currently I'm only using push with email and contacts only since the other won't work.
Can't believe I didn't know that google offered this service now...yes I just found out today reading this forum...
Been waiting too long for this...
Hello, I have some problems with gmail...
When HD2 turns off (standby), it doesn't sync my emails (haven't tried contacts or calendar yet). When I go to activesync to check what happened there are 2 possibilities:
1) If I am home (wifi always on even in standby mode) I get an error (0x80004004). Btw even with wifi on it still keeps the data connection on (?!?!?)
2) If wifi is off it starts syncing when I open activesync.
Any help would be appreciated
EDIT: Seems like there is no problem when wifi is off after all. I guess having wifi always enabled is a problem because it automatically disables 3g...

E-Mail via 3G/Edge/HSDPA not working

Hi there..
I can not access my IMAP Mails, when WIFI is disabled.
What's really strange is that when I disable my working Data connection and then try to send and recieve, then the phone reconnects and is able to access the emails. But just once! And it doesn't work always, just sometimes!
Also, when I turn on WIFI the phone can fetch the mails.
What the hell is that?
Please, anyone have an advice? Or is anyone able to fetch the IMAP mails with data connection only? Need input!
Thanks
jacore
It looks like You need to set "source " in Windows/email/settings,
Go through the email settings carefully and slowly and You will find the option...Strange there is not an "anywhere" option just "internet"/Mobile Internet etc"
This version of Win Mobile has some strange changes, I can never understand why the idiots change core setup/functionality on something that was working Ok before !
I just know Win7 will be useless with even less user settings/options it seems the trend

[Q] How to stop email receive over USB

I've seen a post on the HD2 forum for this, but no replies.
When you set pop email send/receive to "manual", then whenever you connect the phone via USB (to synchronise calendar/contacts) the phone goes and collects the mail anyway.
This is annoying because I only want to manually receive mail when travelling, and inbetween I have no need for icons reminding me I have "new" emails...
Kind of weird that the phone does this even when the "manual" option is clearly chosen. Anyone know of a way to avoid this?
No-one? Surely anyone who has their phone and PC connected, doesn't want to have their email showing up on both... or am I the only one to have this issue?
I don't use this option, so can't help with that . But isn't this a synchronisation option on the computer side. Isn't it possible to disable the synchronisation of individual options like the calendar and email etc?

You're thinking of Outlook mail and its synchronisation. My problem is with pop mail accounts which are not synchronised (the mail is downloaded but not deleted from the server, so the PC mail program is the master and the phone mail is just a way to catch up when you're not behind the PC).
So synschronisation is not related - this is purely to do with the action of the phone which does a send/receive during a USB connection, despite send/receive being set to manual. At all other times it does indeed not pick up mails automatically, but whenever I connect to USB and I have waiting mail (in one of my four accounts) it ends up on the phone also.
I know that I could disable the phone from accessing the internet over USB (which would stop pop access) but then I lose other functionality such as the automatic GPS satellite position update (which has a specific option to update itself when connected by USB).
HTC support have now told me that this is not a 'feature' you can change, although it took several attempts to get them to actually answer the question rather than feed me standard and unrelated responses, so I'm not sure that this is definitive.
Ok thnx for your feedback! Its a pitty that this is not a feature, but maybe somebody kan make an app for that ?
I just ditch the whole email thing. I use the browser to check email instead. Simple. Fast. Does not clutter the phone. Does not overburden the phone.

Also rather expensive when you are roaming internationally, and dependent on there being a (decent) webmail interface...
Yeah. You can't keep the emails in the phone. But that's the whole point. Having hundreds of email in the phone can only cause problems.
But if you access internet thru pc usb connection, or thru wifi, then the roaming problem won't apply.
Can't win them all.
