How to make you camera way faster... - Touch Cruise ROM Development

Very simple: turn off the camera sound in the camera menu. Picture will be taken much quicker.
this works on all PDAs that play a sound when taking a picture.

About the camera...

Is it not that good, or is it just me?
Everytime I take a picture, the camera freezes when saving the picture,
Problem is.. the "frozen" image, is slighly before the actual image which is saved..
Most of my picture so far, are blurred...
Id sort of expected that this camera was lighting fast, but so far it dosent seem so....
On the other hand.. My hands are constantly shaking, and that dosent help much.
So anyone here with steady hands, who takes great pictures, and its just me whos a bad photographer?
I could post on saturday. since the stores are closed aswell as the postal office now in the easter. and I won't be home again untill friday.
But I could post some so that we could compare when I got the phone in my hands.

I am really interested in how the picture quality will be compared to the X1 and the Magic. If it is anything like either of them, then I hope the Magic.
It is such a shame that I can't get it now, when it is in the mail. but I am just to far away from home at the moment :/
it really sucks tho
Tip for non blurry pictures, use touch focus mode - works very good here.
Seems to focus better and you don't risk rocking the phone because you press the camera key.
Otherwise it's as with all mobile phone cams, the sensors and optics are limited by size, so of course you get better pictures the more light you have.
I find the camera very nice in comparison to my N1.
My pictures turn out just fine. maybe a blurry one once in a while but nothing to complain about. Try turning on the image stabilizer

Image stabilizer!!!! Why didnt I think of that while checking in the settings....
Not the pictures are actually good... Strange thing now, when I click to take the picture, it freezes with a blurry image, but the actual picture is great!
here is some pictures that I've taken today can be found here.
I might upload some other pictures later. but we will see.
I do not think that it is that bad, it is better than the X1 camera, and I do think that the picture quality was slightly better than the Magic camera aswell.
The only thing that I can complain about with this phone would be the battery I guess.. It could have been better. but I tought the same thing about my x1 in the beginning, but now does it last 2 days some times.
2-3 hours when I am teethering the network and downlading with torrent on it tho... but that is things that takes alot of battery.
mine freezes with a blurry image aswell. not sure about the actual quality since ive only seen them on the phone itself.
ive got another question tho, does your camera in macro mode make noise when pressing the button halfway(focusing) its like a loud click, very mechanic sounding?
id say the x2 had a much better camera so far

The loud click is from the autofocus and it is normal!
allright coming from an iphone without autofocus so i didnt know that, cant remember the x2 i had for a week having that sound though.

My X1 has the same clicking noise. It's just not that loud. But hey, it's not the same camera either.

Yeah. You have to turn on the LED in settings before it's usable. I've read that it's a limitation in 1.6 but I don't know really. Seems to work great on HTC Legend with 2.1 though.
Yeah, what is the flash like on the x10? Is there a flash????
theres no flash, only a constant light that will blind you!

Yeah, that's true. But I've never really felt the need for a good LED flash, i just use it as a flashlight.
How would you rate the camera then?

I thought the camera in the X1 was pretty good actually but the one in the X10 is insanely great! The image stabilizer is just GREAT! I don't know how I could live without it with my X1! The image quality is great too!
For anyone interested in photo samples from the X10, check this thread from the Esato.com forums:

Wonderful Pictures and Videos from HD2

Hello All,

Really? How do you rate the HD2 Quality overall from 1-5?
I love it, just the screen quality, size and contrast make my friends lust over the phone especially when I'm in picture mode.
I love the screen but the actual camera doesnt seem to do it justice, the old photos on my sd card, taken on my N95 on the other hand look fantastic on the HD2 screen
I also love the camera on this
After having BB's for so long I am quite happy to have a decent camera to take those on the fly pics...look at the quality you can actually see the bee in the middle of the pic!

Uploaded with ImageShack.us
I was waiting a long time to tee off, so I snapped a few shots on the 6th tee and stitched a little panorama here.

Haha.. join the conversation. Fantasytozi, you should try the change to the camera that I posted earlier in this thread. It will make your second picture look like your first and last. You take really good photography!
Various customed ROMS; tweaked camera registries
Photos taken at highland areas, approx > 1500m above mean sea level.
Already applied modded camera tweaks.

No change, Im a dumbass, I already had this enabled. I stand by my original statement.
Love have a camera that is useable in your pocket.
These are my thoughts about the camera.
As longs as there is a lot of light they are pretty good, but when you are forced to use the led flash or dont use it in low light I say the pictures arnt any good.
My old camera a sony ericsson k810i had a xenon flash. It could take awsome pictures in the dark.
What are your thoughts on low light fotography with the HD2? I would really like to tweak it so it improves.

Are they tips #16 and #56? I just checked and they already there in my current rom, Laurentius26. Maybe I will try to take some photos again

If I would rate I would say 3-3.5 it is a good cam for just shooting some nice pictures outdoor. Video quality is pretty good in my opinion to. Shooting in the dark if you keep it in your hands without moving you get good pictures (for example in a bar). But it quite difficult to keep it steady espescially when you have drinken some alcohol . But at daylight you can take good macro for example documents.
Overall I would say a good outdoor shooter. But that is not very special for the camera's at the moment.

Post your pictures taken with your Android HD2

So after a search, I did not find a thread on this yet...How are your photos looking.
Be sure to post what camera app you are using.
All of mine are taken using Vignette...none of these have any filters applied...camera is set to 5MP
Youre pictures look awesome for a cell phone. Here are some of the pics I have taken with my HD2. I'm running Android and using the default settings in Android, except for the 1st picture. That was taken using the pano option in Windows Mobile.
And a short video clip.

Yes it does sort of...you can select to crop the photo to fit the phones resolution so when you view it in the gallery, it fills 100% of the screen as winmo did.

wow, have you edited the photos?
what settings did you used?
Sorry for not posting pics, but just wondering, if any of you guys are using desire hd, or z roms? Reason being, when you record a video, do you notice as time passes, the video audio sync becomes more and more distorted. As in, the audio isn't aligned right to the video, as time goes on, and gets worse. Any of you guys had this experience?
Pretty sure it's a known problem
Personally, I don't make any videos. But I'm sure the de-synchronisation (Only in DHD and DZ) is a known problem, or was. Have you tried any new build or kernels?
Yup, new builds, and kernels. Well if it's just the builds then ah well, not like i fancy my self with taking videos anyways. One good thing about desire hd/z builds however, are they actually know how to do macro shots, instead of other builds where you gotta adjust it till it's just right.

These are my photos. Eheheheh. General settings is with sharpness +1. The ear phones one is in vignette, other than that one, it's no effects.

And one on the walk home - nice lens flare action.

Rubbish Camera!!

hello guys,
my camera is rubbish, i mean while moving the phone and watching the camera view everything is blurred (dont tell me focus), and when taking a video it records that nonsense
Are you using the Stock HTC ROM? If so what settings are you using? I had no problems with the quality of the Camera or Camcorder.

Revolution HD 1.7, i dont remember the quality on the stock rom, but i think it was better
omg now its very good, i did nothing :S
yesterday i was in a trip to the wild, imagine how many great pictures i missed :S, maybe because i was in the night?? but why do it lag in the night?
Generally pictures taken at night don't look very good. As the the camera sensor cannot pull in enough light.
Next time your out taking snaps at night try adjusting the ISO settings, that could also create more "noise" in your photo. Test and adjust until you find a happy medium.

[Video] Photography Tutorial - long overdue!

Hey folks, I got some good news...
The long overdue photography video tutorial is finally out - enjoy!
Tell me what you think (oh, and I'm well aware of the microphone issue, I'll fix it next time). If you knew everything that I've said in this video already, fear not - I'm planning on making a part 2 and a part 3 about post-processing inside and outside of Android, since that's what people seemed interested in, as well as more general photography tips such as how to better compose an image. If you have anything else that you'd love to see a tutorial of, please do mention it!
EDIT: my Z1 Flickr album
Cheers :highfive:
Keep it coming. [emoji1]
I already learn some stuff. [emoji1]
awesome
Thank you boss
The tutorial amazing I learn soo much
Thank you
Keep it going (I'm waiting part 2 and 3)

I'm using the latest stock firmware from Sony. So nothing fancy!
The thing is, I tested some things before recording so the application was most likely still in memory. I tried again just now and the camera seems to open in about two seconds when it's not in memory.
Awesome! Great video!
I didn't knew that Night Mode will decrease the shutter speed a bit. I will try it out tonight.
The camera in Z1 is awesome! I have many great shots with it. I just printed around 30 photos. You cannot tell much difference between the phone and a digital camera.
awesome
waiting for part 2
thanks
Any tips and trick using flash LED on Z1 when taking a photo ?
This is a little tricky too.
And the more strong light from flash LED will make the photo better or doesn't for taking a picture with low light ? (light condition around 40-50%)
Thank you very much

Hey,
I never use the LED light on my phone for photos. I used to use Xenon flashes on my SE Satio and Nokia N8, but LED lights are generally just too weak. Especially the single LED found on the Z series. In low light, I will use Night Mode and set my phone against some object so that I can take photos at the minimum shutter speed. For my static shots, an LED light would imbalance the white balance anyway, so I'm always better off not using it (as a "fill light" it is also surprisingly ineffective).
The only time I would consider using the flash is when I'm not trying to take good shots but useful ones instead. Photos that otherwise turn out too dark to see anything that I should be seeing. As for club or party photos - I just don't take those. That is pretty much the most difficult environment and no smartphone camera can really take decent photographs in that case.
