video ringtones - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

hi all,
any s/w available for having video ringtones on wm5 ?

why would you want video ringtones?

Something eye catching for deaf people?

it looks cool...so is nethin 4 tht available ?

time to keep this post on the top of the thread. someone please code this up before apple takes credit for one more thing.
http://gizmodo.com/5020939/video-ringtones-for-iphone-revolutionize-answering-your-phone
and i dont want to hear "oh thats stupid" because after apple does it...it will be the best thing since slice bread.
it would be nice to see it in a program like S2U.

If I could work out how to capture calls, I'd give it a shot... But, I haven't worked it out yet!
I hate Apples marketing lies too!

VERY DOPE IDEA.....someone please hop on this

ya for real i will donate or pay. we need something way cool to shut the iphone people up. video ringtones

maybe itll be easier to start with animated flash or gif instead of full vdeio clips? very interesting idea indeed!

If you could capture the incoming call
the all that woyld be needed is like tcpmp to play full screen video
or even wmp instead of audio ringtone
With 2 buttons Ignore and answer
And of course the caller ID info displaying
I havet written code in 10 yrs and I was never that good
i wish i was though
This is a great idea
But sprint phones had Video Ringtones like 5 years ago
On the sanyo mm500
So APPLE didnt revolutionize sh**
But WinMo can make it BETTER!!!

Apple are not revolutionary, and this is done by a seperate company anyway...
I'll package up a very basic call capturer as a test to see if it works in theory... Then I'll try and embed some form of media player...

could we maybe modify photo app by removing limitations (picture format),so it can play gif's as someone mentioned....or maybe a plug-in will be enough....it'll just take to make a plug-in

I was just wondering yesterday why WM phones can't do this. Seeing that a lot of non-smartphones can do it. I don't really mind since it's kind of pointless. I have S2U2 showing who's calling me, which is actually useful.

I think this is a cool idea, not sure that I would use it, but nevertheless..nice idea

Here's a quick test app to see if it's possible to intercept the calls...

So has anyone tried this yet?
Edit: I put it on my device but I'm not sure what to do with it. When I click on the icon it gives me some screen about the caller name, the caller number & the caller contact... with the only options to accept or reject. Any suggestions or just a description l3v5y?

Wait until you get a call and tell me if it pops up above the default screen.

Video Caller ID - Request

After I searched everywhere on the web I can't find that kind of software. On my old Symbian Nokia I had this software, and I can't understand why there is not for PPCs.
I don't know if somebody could make that kind of software, but It would be really cool.
I'm posting to discuss this idea, and maybe to make something...
I hope you will be interested too
I too want a Video Caller ID option!
S2U2 has caller id....you cand find itin settings.
But S2U2's Caller ID is not a video caller id

To put AVI file or something like that to an incoming call instead of photo
Thats just to help Pocket Windows crash on in coming call LMAO! I can't imagine this is somink that will be made in the near future, it would kill most phones resources based on most current specs available.
MM
yup.... CPU will be completely used up. I don't think this'll be possible.
I'm pretty sure that windows mobile already does this out of the box, maybe only certain formats. I kind of remember doing it once but you could only use the audio on the video and no mp3, so it was dumb.

Samsung Device already do that why can't be possible on windows mobile
The idea of a video sounds coool.... what if have a specific gif file (like a ringing phone) appear on S2U when someone calls (in addition to the contact picture)... especially with the new gif feature A_C just addded? how does that sound? if interesting probably someone should suggest it to A_C...

wm6.1 professional screen captures

Found this on the net and thought a few people might be interested
Doesn't look all that different now does it?
Ehm? Flat upper-bar?
Whatta hell? Year 2002 called, it wants his single-color bars back.
Seems like Microsoft gave up on trying to make "professional" looks match the iPhone. Which is not good.
Edited addon: Ah, the greyish scroll bars are still there to add clutter to the today-screen and meet the user with oodles of usability.
Deepfish included... Interesting.
can't believe it still looks like sh**
lol still look identical, MS really dont want to get on the move and do something more like apple

gtfo.......
From the pictures it looks like Internet Calling is now supported on the ROM, so maybe there will be new rtcdll files that will fix the speaker.
Wow, people are complaining about not having gradient bars... Hmm, should you really be using a PDA phone then? Personally I don't like gradient bars. I'd rather have my text more readable on a distinctly opposite colored background. But I'm more for function. Hopefully Deepfish will be on it and it better be good because that's the race that M$ needs to catch up on. Web browsing. Not what color the bars are.
Photon is rumored to be the "real change". We'll see...
Well if the next version goes the same way as Vista did then I feel I will be looking at an Iphone. Just think of all the pop ups you can "ok" when a new call comes in.
Ring Ring ---> pop up
A new call has been dected do you want to answer ?
The New caller can not be found in your adddress book, do you still want to answer it?
The caller is on hold do you still want to answer it anyaway.
The caller has been rejected as his phone has not been signed or does not have a Windows operating system.

He's right. MS needs to stop slacking and put out something they called "revolutionary" sooner than later. This 6.1 looks terrible.
Don't know what people were expecting. Why would a point update include real big changes?
I'm not sure that is an actual release for Windows Mobile PPC, but I know what it looks like for the Standard: http://www.boygeniusreport.com/2007/12/07/windows-mobile-61-video-walkthrough/
Sorry, I don´t trust it, for me its a fake,
but we´ll see.
Cheers and regards

Hehehe,, GREATTTTTT!!!!!!!!
fabulous!! a real candidate for my start menu!!
heh yeh thanks for the comments.
I thought it was pretty good fun . But as I say I don't think the missus was too impressed. I'll get some more samples from youtube and add them in. (Thanks for the link jameslovell)
I really want "Say what you see" and "its good but its not right".
I think half the problem of programming in my own time is thinking of apps to write!
looking forward to the extra sounds!
more Catchphrase sounds (+others)
http://chrismoyles.net/mw/soundmachine.shtml
Yeah i had a look at those, they dont sound right though. Sounds like it isnt roy.
Nice
would it be possible to extend this app to allow users to create and choose soundschemes?
There used to be one on the smartphone which was a great laugh
http://www.modaco.com/content/smartphone-software-applications/117105/spvnoisebox-updated-03-12-v0-9-2b/
I'd be happy to make some themes to share
Sound Effects, Drum Machine, Sirens, Excuses, Ventriloquism
Yeh totally, i will have a proper look into when I get time (hopefully this weekend).
Sounds like a plan, set of audio files and a configuration file with them. I'll get on it!
Interesting app you posted a link to, does it only work on smartphones then?

I have just recently received a shiny new HTC Diamond Touch, after a day or so of having it I thought it was time to create an application. This is what the few minutes during my lunch break at work came up with.
A Catch Phrase sound board! Only 4 samples unfortunately, you wouldn't believe how hard these audio samples are to find.
I can't believe how much fun I have had clicking the Wrong buzzer whenever my girlfriend asks me a question!
Enjoy, the start of many applications to come I hope.

Any screenshots?
No screenshots for the moment as the old application was just a test, hacked together in a lunch break.
I am working on a much improved version, all is going well and I should release something this week or this weekend. Unfortunately my free time is lacking at the moment.
The new app will be completely configurable and provide the ability for user created content in the form of button and image themes... all will be explained when I release it.
Thanks.
looking forward to it!!!

Take your time of course and glad it's on the way. Thanks for your time and hard work as always.
I don't understand how this will work, or is it rom dependant? I can't play any sound when I'm on the phone. Tried the app, but can't hear anything. Same with wmp and tf3d player.

Sorry for the late response, you probably know the answer by now ..
It runs but will only play sounds on the d-pad, other sounds were assigned to the keypad.
Touchscreen is so much better ! and the vga resolution deserves to be used to full effect.

Excellent news
No need to rush it, I presume you mean we can change the sounds, not just the buttons and images for Roy
I'm looking forward to it.
Many thanks
Some thoughts ...
It would be really nice to use animated gifs as buttons, that appear to 'play' when activated.
Perhaps it could use the g-sensor a bit like the lightsaber toy - assigning your own sound to a 'shake'.
during a call, could you shake the phone to play a sound that the caller would hear ?
"... must go, there's somebody at the door." <SHAKE>
! DING DONG !
Hi,
Is it possible for someone to supply the Buzzer sound as a wav or MP3 File. My Girlfriend has been using my phone, found this damn program on it, and after several hours of messing with it, now wants the buzzer sound as her message alert tone.
Ive searched the internet where i can, and cant find it. If anyone has it or it can be extracted from the program, or be supplied by the creator, i would be very grateful!
Sean Saunders
Sure here are the sounds
Sorry for the late reply.

[Idea] eyes-free dialling

This sounds like a very useful dialer ..
http://www.engadget.com/2009/04/03/eyes-free-shell-for-android-actually-delivers-on-its-name/
i.e. touch any part of screen and it will be 'five' then your gestures will decide which number to pick. With every number you 'go over' you get a feedback (vibrate/key click).
Would be awesome if someone can port it over to windows mobile.
It would be sweet to have this for WinMo.
However, if it will be a paid app I'll skip it though.

Thats brilliant if u ever find one for the HTC Wizard do post
I dunno about the vibrations and whatnot to dial. It would be like morse code lol... but a full sized canvas for you to draw numbers wouldnt be all bad. it could even use gestures and still not require you to physically look at the phone when you dial. A
brilliant idea
what for is this solution?
If someone is blaind then I uterstand but in other case i can't find enything briliant in that thing. Sometging new but useless for me ....
msvc or cyberon anyone?
Nah its just useful if you are preoccupied doing something and you'd rather not look at the phone when you're dialing.. for example.. say you're watching a movie and its getting good.. but then your girlfriend asks you to call her friend and ask her what time your gonna meet her somewhere and blah blah.. So to put it simply, it just makes life easier.
Honestly how many people these days remember numbers? Most people just stick a number in their contacts. The only numbers I could tell you off the top of my head are my own and my wife's.
ever tried to use the time when driving for 'useful' purpose like navigating complex phone tree ('press 3 for billing followed by your account number') ?

[REG] Better profile handling program

Hi guys, first post from me so excuse if theres some infos missing what you need, but I'll add as something is asked.
I'm a long user of Nokia phones and just changed my E90 into a Diamond. And the one thing that I really miss is that theres not exactly different profiles to choose from (or made your own). Theres only selections for silent and vibrate, other than the normal selections. And I really miss that from Nokia phones. Just a few simple clicks and phone has a loud theme with a different ringtone and SMS message sound, or then its almost quiet (like when my baby is sleeping).. I think you all get the picture, if you ever had Nokia phones =)
So my reguest is for someone to point out a program or if someone wants to make I would be glad, really glad I think some others would like these too
I could make another post but I'll just add few other programs also to here that maybe someone knows if there exists similar for Diamond
- BestProfiles (enable selected profiles to turn on at some time of day)
- FlipSilent (turn ur phone face-down and its on silent, works for alarming to go snooze)
- Putty (great for symbian phones but I found only programs that arent so good as this is)
Anyways thnx in advantage if someone can help a dude out...
PS. only had HTC for a few days but after starting using it I had to order a data-plan to my mobile and a better battery, but this was off-topic..
Try ageye's G-Profile (http://www.ageye.de/index.php?s=gprofile/about), you get a fully 14-days working demo and full app is just 5€! One of the most happily money spent ever for my Diamond, now I even have it start playing music when I plugin earphones/carkit and stop when disconnecting!

I just installed it and it seems a fair try, tho it has a lot more possibilitys that i would actually need from a app might even help that dude out to translate it to my native language, like i just did to PocketShield, not finished yet but almost =)
Below again some off-topic, maybe some admin explains to me how to get rid of it =)
