iPAQ Foldable Bluetooth keyboard ** Solved??

Hi
I have one of those ipaq foldable keyboards (bluetooth) and I'd like to get this working on Windows Mobile 6.1 to use it on my touch diamond.
The original driver which ships with the keyboard doesnt appear to work on Windows Mobile 6.1 (I think its designed for 2003) but it seems the bluetooth layer is working perfectly....
The keyboard itself presents itself as a bluetooth serial port which can be paired and connected to the touch diamond... problem is how to get the serial port used for keyboard input
Any ideas?
Thanks!
Solved
I've developed a small application which wraps the serial output into the API.
** EXPERIMENTAL ** USE AT OWN RISK **
1. Ensure you have NETCF 3.5 installed on your device.
2. Extract the .exe file from the zip archive and save it somewhere on your device.
3. Pair your keyboard via bluetooth.
4. Create an outgoing serial port (any port from COM1 through COM9)
5. Fire up the saved application.
6. Select the COM port used in #4 above and click on CONNECT - If the connection fails exit application and repeat from step #3
7. Test connectivity by pushing shift/caps lock.
Can't get this to work
Hi there
Tried to install this on an HTC Touch HD and it doesn't work unfortunately... I get an error message but apparently need to install a special cab file from microsoft containing .NET CF 3.5 error messages?
If you feel like having a go at getting this to work would very much appreciate it!

I will amend the application to enable you to specify a COM port.. unfortunately this can only be done when I am home so check back in a few hours....

I've updated the application and the connection process as can be seen in post #2.
Great work!!! It works perfectly.
Only two questions:
It's possible to hide the win keyboard screen?
Could you add -in a future- a key repeat?
Thank you very much!

I'll add keystroke repeat at some stage but its beyond what I originally anticipated so dont hold your breath until then
Some of the special function keys dont function yet either but as they are not really used it didnt make sense to add them initially.
Finally I got the keyb screen hidden, but if I hide it, the space bar key doesn't work. Otherwise this app is very very very usefull .
Andret: Did you try to install Widdcomm Broadcom Stack on your Diamond? I readed somewhere that there's a version compatible with HTC Hermes, I don't know if it can be used with your phone....
I tried to contact with darfon (without response yet) to ask them for the service manual of G950, I disassembled the keyb and there's a jumper connector in the motherboard, I wonder if it's possible to turn it into HID soldering a bridge there...
Greetings and thanks again.

I dont have an issue with spacebar when I hide the popup keyboard.... I do occasionally get an issue when the spacebar doesnt work but I havent figured out what the reason for this is.... it seems to be rather random 1 out of 20 or so times I connect/reconnect the keyboard.
I've never opened the keyboard but I too have wondered about getting it into HID mode since it seems some of the later ones from HP support both HID and SPP.
I've never tried instaling a different type of stack on the phone... the app works fine as it is on my wife's diamond and was originally developed on my touch pro actually until it worked and then off to the diamond... not much use for it on the TP as it has a hardware keyboard.
Thanks!!!

Source code attached including ipaqkbmap which is a small application i used to determine the codes for the various keys... if you follow the source you'll know why this was necessary.
In my case i dont think it was necessary to map those special characters as the WM API managed some of the shift-state issues and did not require anything further....
Either way... free to play with it and see what comes out of it... Have fun

[htc cruise 2009] Wired Remote Control RC E100 not recognized

hi
i've bought some months a wired remote control RC E100
here is the product description http://www.expansys.com/d.aspx?i=154771
The first time i've connected this to my touch cruise 2 iolite, the audio worked well but not the music control button
is it a soft problem or a hard problem ?
after contacting the HTC support team they told me that the touch cruise IOLITE is not compatible with this remote Control, for me this answer is curious
any one have a solution ?
thanks for you help
kamelus: It depends, how it works. If it is using some builtin drivers, which are present in some HTC devices and not in Iolite, it will not work on Iolite by default. Anyway, on that page you linked is possible to download drivers for that remote control. Did you try to install them?

Hi Torrentonly
thanks for your answer
yes i've downloaded the file found on the expansys web page
but i found many cabs in this file i ve tried to install them without success
it's so curious for me that some htc accessories work only with previous version of phone and are not compatible with the recent produc
kamelus: Well, it is because they are using their ExtUSB connector for everything. It has limited amount of pins, so usually classic USB pins and audio/microphone pins are same all the time. Rest of them are used for other stuff like video, remote control, etc.
Btw. Many CABs in that file? I downloaded and extracted it to the bones and only four CABs are in it. Three for Artemis (DOPOD, TMO, OTHER) and one for Trinity device. Personally I might try Trinity driver, soft reset and look, if it will work.

I've made some googling and found, that there are more problems with this remote control than anyone might accept. It might work with TF3D devices only. You also should try to assing remote buttons to some actions in your favourite player.
I can't help you more with that, because I don't have possibility to try that remote control on my device. Sorry.

Windows software on Android

Hello
I am trying to find a way to run some software I have for the pc on an android divice.
I would like to get some car diagnostic software to run which has to be connected to the car through usb to ODB2 port on the car.
Is there and emulator or some such software I can install on the android pad to get this running?
This would be so cool if I can get this running.
I found a stereo with an android 2.1 tab attached which is the screen for the stereo.
Anyway if anyone has any ideas then please let me know.
Thanks
Alex
Short answer: No.
Long answer: If it's DOS application, maybe. But I doubt it'll be able to access any of the device ports. If it's a Windows application, forget it.
Your best bet is to look for similar apps on Android. They DO exist... The market has several apps that read car diagnostics over bluetooth, some might also work over USB. There are bluetooth adaptors available for your ODB2 port.

Wine Is Not an Emulator.
x86 != Arm

Citrix? You're kidding, right? Do you even know how Citrix works? It's essentially a kind of remote desktop. The applications don't run on your machine, they run on a server. A server which you have to pay up mucho cashola for and configure correctly.

And even if he had access to Citrix XenDesktop virtualized Windows I don't know if it would allow him to use car service software by connecting OBD2 interface to the tablet. Even if the port I/O could be forwareded to remote machine as a virtualized USB port the latency would make the OBD software very ustable.
Can't tell you about connecting it to the ODB2 port but as for x86 emulation on a arm device:

I mentioned it before, but didn't bother to post any links, not that the OP has bothered to reply, but anyway..
THIS is what he's looking for, with no silly emulation bullpoop.
https://play.google.com/store/search?q=odb2
That took all of 2 seconds to search for...
BTW it is NOT ODB2. It is OBD2 as in On-Board Diagnostics level 2 .
Bleh. The search still worked!
Torque works really well I use it to get codes and you can monitor real time info from all of the sensors attached to your ecu. You can also do data logging. If your trying to run tuning software( like hp tuner or ROMraider) you are prolly out of luck.

Did you actually read the op? Teamviewer is totally useless for this, as is ANY form of remote running application.

Tru dat. Not sure what I was thinking when I posted that....I think my mind was just stuck in the subject line and not the meat of the post.
How about the upcoming Windows 8? Will it support our A500?
No.
How did we stretch "no" into two pages?

Does a usb gamepad work in win8 tablet?

I have a Lenovo lynx win 8 tablet. I connect a usb gamepad. I see that it is recognized as usb generic gamepad (although in device manager I don't see a gamepad). The same gamepad work ok in nexus 7 tablet. Does anyone have a clue what is wrong? Perhaps I need some kind of drivers? In control panel I don't see "gamepad" or something like this, as I see in pc. Thanks,
It is this: http://www.e-shop.gr/product?id=PER.701667
Did your gamepad came with a driver CD? The gamepad should work with the tablet...after connecting the gamepad, open device manager & see if it shows any unrecognized devices

It didn't have a driver cd.. I go settings-change pc settings-devices , and when I connect it, it is recognized as" Generic usb joystick " without to have an option to change any settings or something..
If I go to control panel from desktop interface, I don't see any gamepad or joystick icon to click.. Is it the same for every tablet with win8 this or only mine?
Of course they work, your running full windows 8, its no different from your desktop or laptop if you have one. Even RT on the arm tablets has a degree of support for them (mainly the Xbox controller as 3rd party manufacturers aren't allowed to release drivers and windows itself has few drivers)
What make and model is the controller? It is most likely a driver issue or possibly user error (sure its not listed in with mice and keyboards on device manager).

I found out that every time I connecting it, in device manager, under human interface devices, it recognize it as usb input device... Probably I should change some drivers there? But haven't got anyone to try.. Perhaps any generic driver there for gamepad?

That means it has been recognised then. That should be the only entry.
Otherwise if its still not working in any games then you need to give us the make and model like I already asked. EDIT: Just noticed link in your post, hit google and can't find a single site not in Greek or any reference to that controller actually existing anywhere but Greek shops, certainly no info on drivers etc. If it doesn't work plug and play I think your best off getting a known brand controller (my personal preference is the wired Xbox 360 controller, play and charge kit for wireless controllers doesn't work btw, it has to be the wired one, Logitech also make a few popular models)
It is a cheap Chinese gamepad. It probably sell with different brand in many countries. The funny thing is that it is working perfectly in android without any driver (which I didn't expected, didn't bought for this), and is not working in the win tablet (for which was bought and expected to work)
Android does come with alot more drivers out of the box than windows does surprisingly, but at the same time its much harder install more.
Are you sure the gamepad doesn't work in any games because if its listed in device manager under HID's like it is then it should work. My 360 controller is only listed in HID's and in Xbox accessories (and of course your isn't an Xbox accessory).
Id go into a game and actually see does it recognise it.

You go into control panel>All items (sorry I dont know where it is on the new view, I always use the old style)>Devices And Printers. Should have a gamepad near the top, you right click it and it has "Game controller settings".
Something you can try for drivers is go back to device manager, find the gamepad, right click it and update driver software, see if windows just happens to find one online which matches.

Many thanks. Didn't expected to find gamepad settings under printers icon.. I found out that gamepad works. I see in gamepad settings buttons etc. It just don't work with tha games I had try.. Perhaps I must find something to remap buttons or something to make it work with some emulators and games.. I had something like this in the past.. Now I know that it does work I search more.
