Absurd that everything in my calender and email syncs up - but after owning this phone now for over a month I still have not managed to figure out how to move other data or install programs.
It must be really easy. I just don't have a manual for the phone. Is there a site with the user manual?

try doing a google search for xda manual pdf i'm sure it's out there in plenty
you install programs if they are pc install programs but running the exe file on the pc then it will install using activesync
you install programs in form of cab files by double clicking on them on your device
you run exe files made for pda's by clicking on the pda they dont need installs
you get data to the pda by
1 putting the files in my pocketpc documents or what ever it's called in your my doc dir
2 clicking on the explore device button in activesync or clicking on the pda icon in my computer
thank you for that explanation. it worked! I did find the user manual as a pdf file. It was helpfull - but this forum seems ahead of the curve.
One last question - have most people on this forum with the XDA II upgraded to the magneto OS?

it being beta i'm waiting to see how stable and compatible it wil be when buzz and people are don with it
sure it's a toy but it's also a tool and my current rom does work for my current needs
I have searched the forum and I have seen were other people have asked this same question but I never saw were it was answered. I unzip lokiwiz and I see EnableRapi.cab. I right click on the file and there is no option for coping like you see on other files that you want to copy. Also how do I get it on to my wizard. The instructions makes it sound so easy but so for I have not reached that point yet!

In ActiveSync you'll see an Explore tab and from Windows Explorer you should see your Mobile Device.
Either way you want (except right clicking)

As a lot of you did, I got my wing and started to follow Nyer78's post "All you need on your wing" to try to optimize the phone, thanks to Nyer78.
But after I copied the first 6mb pool.cab to my phone and tapped it, I got an error message as the following:
"There is no application associated with "6mb pool". Run the application first, then open this file from within the application."
Could you help me to solve this? I'm very new to XDA and WM, and very eager to see my wing fly.

You don't run the .bat file on ur actual phone.
Plug your phone up to activesync .. copy over the .CAB file and install it. I think you need to soft reset ... then once your phone connects to activesync again, you run the .BAT file on ur PC

I am looking out for a software for my Vista Operating system in which i can install cab files directly from my desktop without copying it to my device n then installing it.
There r many softwares actually but none of them r vista compatible..for eg cabviaactivesync.
Any developpers intrested in helping us out

You can drag and drop CABs there, or ever better, associate .CAB files with it in Vista, so, all you need to do to install a CAB is a double click (while having ActiveSync on of course)

How to associate .cab files in vista so that when i double click on it..it should start installing?i have winrar in my system.i removed the .extension but if i double click on it...the openwith dialog box will open

I am using XP, but it should be the same on Vista... when the "open with" dialog opens, select wince cab installer, and select "always use selected program to open this kind of file"
wow program works fine here on vista. much easier than copying over then opening on phone, saves space too
I just tired reinstalling vista but for no use..it gives me the same error..plzzzz some one can write a script for vista..plzz

Hi thanks for ur reply..i have windows device central edition on my pc..My problem is that i want to install .cab file directly from my pc to my pda which is not possible with device central..it can install only exe files..i hope u got my point.
any one can help me install my cab files?plzz
why cant u just put the cab files on ur device and install there? it mite be inconvenient i guess..

yes u r right..its really a pain copying the files to device n installing from there..any program u know for vista..i tried many but of no use
^^this works fine for me on vista, i just right click on the cab then send to, WinCE cab installer
Doesn't work for me. Get access denied. And what's worse: you can't uninstall the damn thing.

Found it, just remove the Send to entry and delete cabinst.exe from Windows folder.

Having recently upgraded to Windows 7, I bumped into this issue as well and googled my way to this thread, but found no solutions like you guys.
It seems that all would be well if I turned off User Account Control, which, however, I don't really want to.
Thus I did more searches and found the following article:
Selectively disable UAC for your trusted Vista applications
Although the steps described in the above article did not prevent a UAC prompt from popping up, my installation of WinCE CAB Installer works now.
Hey I thought I might share this I don't think many people know this little tool but it lets you install CAB's via PC by just dragging them on this little .exe
Your phone has to be connected and then the active sync pops up and transfers + installs the cab on your device. It's very useful for me and I thought I wanna share it since I got so much from this community so far.

That's pretty cool, I've never really heard much about that program, but I do like to keep all my cab files on my storage card, and with disable cab delete enabled, it keeps all the cab files so when you flash to a new rom, you have all your cab files ready to install.
i think you can just drag a .cab using mymobiler and it will install too.
