Emmm..?? Not something I've had. With TCPMP Coreplayer I would get all sorts of jumping and jittering. Is this when you open the app or when playing video. Maybe you could give more detail?
Mike

only in media player and only when i play mp3 and the tytn is in my case in my pocket. when i pull it from my pocket and when i open the case the screen is rotated. the hardware keyboard is in place, i don't know what is the problem!
10x!

Are you using the case with the strong magnetic catches. The screen rotate switch is operated by an internal magnet when you open the keyboard, BUT the case magnets also have a habit of operating the switch. You can test this by placing case magnet near bottom right corner of screen!!
Mike

Amazing! your a genius!!
I kept thinking why the heck is my screen in wide mode any time I get it out of my case.

Ha! well "Genius" yeah..... sounds kinda good but not deserved sadly
Yep, can be quite annoying, though not really harmful. Some folks were convinced the magnets were responsible for all sorts of problems/crashes etc. This has not been shown by real evidence other than the screen rotation issue.
Mike

aaa!!! yes!! you nare genius! that was the problem! 10x!
i'm wondering will the magnets damage the device...
10x very much!

yeah... and when returning from powersave mode, a Hermes always goes to portrait mode. I believe its a workaround for the above magnet issue
However, when I'm using my TyTN on the stand for my BT keyboard I keep it in landscape mode.... This workaround then becomes a maddening bug.
Of course, there my also be some setting I haven't stumbled on yet that controls this...

I've written an app that disables the auto-rotation (VJUzumaki). However, it's not being released immediately, but very soon.
I don't think this feature can be controlled through the registry or an easy external hack.

when receive a call the device turn to landscape - Help pls

Sometime when receive a call the device turn to landscape mode (the Keyboard is close).
I have I-mate K-JAM with
ROM version 1.1.9.3 from 9-16-05,
Radio version 01.01.10,
Protocol Version 4.0.13.16 &
ExROM version 1.1.9.106.
I have on the device:
SPB Pocket Plus,
ME Phone Plus and
Hebrew Support.
I disable all the SPB Pocket Plus option and the situation still appended.
Can any one know about that? or can help me?
i have the very same problem mate. I always thought it was the way i removed the phone from it's holster that casues it to change to landscape. The only reason i think/know thats the reason for me is cus the phone never does this when it's not in the holster. My xda is running no external apps so that would'nt cause it.
cheers
same problem here, it happens only, when taking the device out of holster. For me is the solution in orderinga new holster from Krusell because the original holster is very very bad.

it is due to the strong MAGNET in the holster, turn the device the other way around and you will not have a problem

omg, i was thinking about all posible reasons for this but the magnets, lol
Thx a lot for the tip, but i will order the new holster anyway, the original i just dont like, magnets yes or not
Magnets
There is a magnetic senser in the K-jam... like a electronic reed switch..
This is on purpose... much like the blackberrys going into holster mode when in the holster...
shame i can find more info on this otherwise i would write a program to mess with various settings like ringer volume and vibrate..
so it will act differently when in the case....

I though the magnetic sensor had to do with the phone being able to tell when the keyboard was extended. Best I can tell, the device behaves no differently when in the case or out. Would be nice, though if someone could develop some profiles that used this sensor like the BBs do.

I've found that there doesn't seem to be a 'other way around' - no matter which way, it still *sometimes* causes the switch.
Say the case is on my left hip - which way round would you place the K-Jam, screen facing the body, top backwards or top forwards?

Which Krusell case have you ordered?
It happens to me too. I think that the only way to avoid damage is to place the K-Jam with the screen facing the body. I don't know whatcauses it but it is strange. If you open the keyboard slightly, that wouldn't happen. It only happens on a full KBD opening or when I take the phone out of its case. Did anyone find a nicer holster that is still verticall? I found the horizontals quite too big and inconvinient.
I've been noticing mine being in landscape mode when taking it out of the case too, though it switches back quite quickly.
Try this: take the phone out of the case, rub the back of the phone across the magnet from right to left with the magnet running just below the rubber foot (under the windows logo). start with the magnet to the left of the phone, and move the phone left. It switches into landscape mode every time.
Also you can feel the phone try to stick to the magnet if you find the right place.
the magnet is what causes the switch. It won't damage your phone, but it is an annoyance.
Also happens if the Camera app, or any other app that uses landscape mode, is running.

Screen in landscape mode when keyboard is closed

Guys,
First off - Way to go Mods - its great to have a TyTN only forum at last!
Ok my problem is -
When i 'awake' my TyTN, the screen is sometimes in landscape mode, even though the device has teh keyboard shut and is being used in the portrait mode.
Is this a part of teh infamous alignment bug? And does anyone know of a fix?
ptm
As far as I know, this seems to happen when the device is being used with the case. It seems that the magnet in the belt clip makes the phone go to landscape.

aaah....now that would make sense. it seems to have started when I used the case.
I like using a case. Are there any recommendations for adecent replacement?
Thanks for helping out fella!
Been using the case since got the phone.
Sometimes it does indeed be in landscape mode when I take
it out, but it always reset to portrait mode as soon as I get it out.
Happens to me too.

Is there a way to stop aspec change when keyboard pulled out?

Does any smart person know if there a way to stop the aspect change when the keyboard is pulled out? (Basically so the operating system stays portrait instead of changing to landscape)
Cheers,
Richard

If I understand correctly you mean when taking the device out of the carrying case. The orientation can change when taking it out of the case due to the magnetic catches in the case operating the keyboard magnet operated switch.
If this is the problem then I suggest using a case with no magnets. (a better solution than disconnecting the switch). This however is not the same as not wanting landscape mode when the keyboard is out as the OP wants.
Mike
I remember getting very annoyed with the phone changing orientation when in it's magnetic case when I first got it. I searched and searched for days to find a setting or tweak to fix it. Eventually, I mentioned to my wife that I need to buy a new case.
She said "why don't you put it into the case the other way round?".
I put it in with the screen facing the belt rather than the magnets, and it's worked fine ever since that way round! Felt such an ass!
Sometimes I don't see the wood for the trees me...
I know it's the magnet doing it
I've tried the following:
1. Buy a new case with only one magnet clip (a magnet clip is more comfortable then scotch or any other solution).
2. Reverse the screen to the back.
None works, I think it's the way I pull it out...
Anyway, the only solution doesn't exist, I can't find a normal belt side case.
So my last resort is to find a way to stop the rotation, I always miss calls cuz the rotation during a call slows the device and I can't answer...
I tried to use that registry hack, I followed the instructions and I do not have the rotate icon..even after two resets. Is there any other way to force your screen a certain way?

Anyone have a problem with part of the touch screen not registering?

I have an HTC hero and I am having problems with the bottom third of the screen. I cannot "click and hold" in order to drag a program icon, for instance. Instead it just registers the click, and not the hold! Very annoying.
I have MoDaCo custom rom 1.5 on it, but don't think this could be a software/firmware issue. I don't recall it being a problem before, so it appears it has developed a fault!
Nightmare. Anyone experienced anything similar and an easy way to fix it?
James
Hi,
I can't actually help you but i can tell you the first iphones would develop a similar problem with their touchscreen where sensitivity dropped off, especially near the edges. This turned out to be a coating wearing off.
This seems to be happening from time to time with capacitive screens.
If you are sure it's a hardware issue, i wouldn't hesitate to send it back.
Kr,
-Kevin
Have you tried re-starting the phone?
Yes, and it made no difference. But pulling the battery and restarting (I had to do this to get theserial number fot HTC support!) worked!!
Cheers
James
You could also download a "Draw" app to test all areas of the screen.
When I first had mine I had problems hitting the Backspace on the portrait keyboard, I tried a calibrate but I think its better now because my finger knows where to go.
I find my screen seems more responsive when the phone is in my hand, less so if lying on a table. Is this a quirk of a capacitve screen or more to do with the angle of attack?

This. It doesn't seem even remotely responsive when I have it lying down flat on any surface, but as soon as I pick it up it works again.

The metal bezel actually acts as a grounding point between the capacitive areas that don't have any adjacent space to get a good contact...

magnet triggers action?

happened to set my epic down on my wifes camera case, which has a magnetic closure flap...the phone was asleep when i set it down, but when it got close to the magnet, the screen turned on and skipped the "drag to unlock" screen...ive tried it numerous times since, and get the same result...
anyone else experience this?
Must be like blackberries. When you pulled them out of their case the screen would turn on and when you put them back in the screen would turn off.
Sent from my Epic using XDA app.
I remember reading about the magnetic sensor in a list of specs but this is the first time I've heard of it actually being triggered. It would be nice to see some cases that take advantage of this feature.
I just pulled a hard drive magnet off of my cubicle wall and tried it. Doesn't work for me.

Yup, that works for me..but doesn't go to the lockscreen, immediately goes to the the home screen.
I would assume it is for either the home media dock, or an upcoming car dock, so it automatically goes into the proper program when in place.

Hope they plan on putting out a maintenance release for that..I just installed Car Home, locked the screen and put the magnet next to it and it came on in landscape mode, but just on the home screen.
Would be nice if we could use something like tasker and create a couple of actions depending on the proximity of a mgnet...
Haha all I "use" the magnet sensor for is with the Tricorder app, magnetic flux option. =P Might help to find the best spot... (I guess I'm not cool enough to have hard drive magnets at work.)
It's for the slide-out keyboard. Hold your phone in portrait and keep the magnet to the left of the LED flash. The screen will re-orient itself to landscape. Move the magnet and it will go back.
