Internet after disassociating PPC6700 from carrier - XV6700, PPC-6700 General

After a friend reset my PPC so all the Spring programming is gone, the net features needs to be reprogrammed (I have my pcs user name and pasword from Sprint). so I just need to know where it should go.

Hello, I hope this fixes your problem :
-click "start" --> "settings" --> "connections" tab --> "Connections"
-click on "add new modem connection"
-under "Enter a name..." enter anything like "Sprint EVDO"
-under "Select Modem" choose "Cellular Line"
-click "next"
-under "Enter the number..." enter "#777"
-click "next"
-leave "Username", "Password", and "Domain" blank
-Click finish
Now fire up internet explorer and try to browse to any site. A "Network Log On screen should pop up asking for a username and pass. Make sure everything is blank and then click "Save Password". Hit OK and the phone should start Dialing. The page should then load.

IP Port and Server URL
Can any one help
Thanks
I don't know which version of windows your using as the MMS composer is different in WM2003SE. I can tell you how I got mine working and its a 2 stage process:
Part 1
1. Create a new connection by coing to Start->Settings->Connections and tap on the Connections icon.
2. Tap on the "Advanced" tab and then tap on the "Select Networks" button.
3. Tap on the lower one of the two "New..." buttons, i.e. the one below the "My Work Network" drop down menu.
4.0 On the "General" tab, enter a name of "Virgin MMS".
4.1 On the "Modem" tab, tap on the "New..." button.
4.3 Enter a name for the connection of "Virgin MMS", select a modem type of "Cellular Line (GPRS)" and then tap on the "Next" button.
4.4 Enter an access point name of "goto.virginmobile.uk" and then tap on the "Next" key.
4.5 Enter a user name of "user", ensure that all other fields are empty and then tap on the "Finish" button.
4.6 On the "Proxy Settings" tab, ensure that the "This network connects to the Internet" is NOT ticked" and then tap on the "ok" button in the top right hand corner of the screen.
4.7 In the drop down menu for "Programs that automatically connect to a private network should connect using:", change this back to "My Work Network" (or whatever was in this field before you started this process).
5. You can now exit from the Settings screens as Part 1 is complete.
Part 2
1. You need to go into MMS composer.
2. In WM2003SE you need to go into the "Tools->MMS Settings" option.
3.0 On the "Preferences" tab, in the "Connect via:" option, enter/select "Virgin MMS".
3.1 On the "Servers" tab, tap on the "New" button.
3.2 Enter a "Server name:" of "Picture Message"
3.3 Enter a "Gateway:" of "193.30.166.1".
3.4 Enter a "Port number:" of "9201". Don't worry if you don't have a "Port number:" field as the system will default to this anyway.
3.5 Enter a "Server address" of "http://mms.virginmobile.co.uk:8002" and then tap on the "OK" button.
3.6 Tap on the "ok" button in the top right hand corner of the screen.
That's the end of the two stages and you should now be able to send picture and video messages (I've tried both).
Two things to be aware of:
1. The send/receive does seem to take ages.
2. Don't try to send pictures which aren't JPG or BMP as they won't go and you end up thinking that there's a problem with your config. I speak from experience here.
GPRS settings on Vorgin?
Slightly Off topic but I'm trying to Use my xda 1 with virgin and am trying to get the GPRS set up and am struggling, is it essentially the same settings as these?
Many thanks
Nate :?:
The GPRS setting for internet access only involves 1 stage in order to set it up. It's almost exactly the same as the first part of MMS:
1. Create a new connection by going to Start->Settings->Connections and tap on the Connections icon.
2. Tap on the "Advanced" tab and then tap on the "Select Networks" button.
3. Tap on the upper one of the two "New..." buttons, i.e. the one usually below the "My ISP" drop down menu.
4.0 On the "General" tab, enter a name of "Virgin GPRS".
4.1 On the "Modem" tab, tap on the "New..." button.
4.3 Enter a name for the connection of "Virgin GPRS", select a modem type of "Cellular Line (GPRS)" and then tap on the "Next" button.
4.4 Enter an access point name of "goto.virginmobile.uk" and then tap on the "Next" key.
4.5 Enter a user name of "user", ensure that all other fields are empty and then tap on the "Finish" button.
4.6 On the "Proxy Settings" tab, ensure that the "This network connects to the Internet" is ticked and then tap on the "ok" button in the top right hand corner of the screen.
4.7 In the drop down menu for "Programs that automatically connect to Internet should connect using:", ensure that the "Virgin GPRS" entry is displayed.
5. You can now exit from the Settings screens as your connection set up is now complete. You shouldn't have to do any other config work to use the internet.
Ensure that when you try this connection that you don't have your XDA docked in its cradle or you won't be connecting via GPRS.
Happy surfing.
Thanks mate, thats done it. I have tried almost exactly that and didn't get it quiteright.
Appreciate the help.
Virgin MMS
Have entered this setup info into xda2 But it still wont connect and returns the following message
Dialed:gotovirginmobile.uk
Cannot connect for an unknown reason. To
check your connection settings and change
them if needed, tap Settings. If the
problem continues, reset your mobile device
according to your manufactures documentaion
and try again
Help
Thanks
If the above text is exactly what appears on your screen then your problem is easily fixed. It looks like your missing a full stop, i.e. "gotovirginmobile.uk" should be "goto.virginmobile.uk". This is the value you entered in step 4.4 of Part 1.
I tried removing the full stop on my M1000 and I got exactly the same error reported so this should hopefully sort the problem.
Virgin MMS
Sorry my mistake I had put goto.virginmobile.uk in at step 4.4
but omitted it from my previous post
Should the connection for MMS use the same one that internet explorer uses, that one uses one called MOBILE WEB GPRS that appears to have the same setup. Browsing on the internet works OK

help setting up mobile internet (wap/gprs)

Hey guys.
Can someone help me out with this...
I had a tmobile MDA (wizard), i have since upgraded to the Kaiser. But my mum wants to use the old wizard. The wizard is already unlocked (lokiwiz yay) so i just put my mums O2 sim in the phone and it works. But things like going online won't work, i assume i need to enter some settings somewhere. (which settings and where???)
I tried ringing O2 to get the info, but they started asking what phone i had and then they said they didnt have the MDA/Wizard, and so i said a sony erricson just so that she would send info, but when i recieved the text message it was blank or at least appeared blank.
Can someone from here tell me which settings i need to enter and where.
Also i am still running the wizard on the tmobile rom (second one they made for MDA). is there a better rom for me to use.
Thanks guys.

Unfortunately, the sim card controls the internet, texting, and online accesses. By putting your mom's O2 sim in your old wizard doesn't change anything. These sim cards have numbers on them to identify them with the type of device activated for. What you need to do is contact your carrier and explain to them what you said in your post, and get the sim re-activated.
Thanks for the help hotdog.
I'll ring the O2 people again and explain things. Only reason i didn't go into depth with them before was because i thought they would tell me im not allowed to use an O2 sim in an unlocked Tmobile phone.

HTC HD (TIM branded) with uk O2 sim and web bolt on

First of all excuse my English, sorry if it is not the right section for posting this. I'm in London and I bought a O2 sim with the "web bolt on" option (7,50 £/month and max 200 mb). But, even if i setup my TIM (telecom italia mobile - I'm Italian) htc touch hd as the "o2 man" tell me to do, it doesn't work anymore.
The setting is this=
apn mobile.o2.co.uk
username o2web
password password
dns 193.113.200.200 /201
is it correct?
Is "web bolt on" option right for my touch hd?
What can I do?
Tnx a lot
I always refer to the following page if I'm having problems.....
http://www.filesaveas.com/gprs.html
Try mobileweb as a username.
It should work OK assuming o2 have enabled everything....

Your settings are correct. I did not input the dns I selected Use Server assigned addresses.
I think the web bolt on is the right choice if you want to be connected all the time. Mind you some apps seem to connect online or want to connect all the time. I am using a Touch Hd
Those settings are for people on o2 contracts, since you are talking about web bolt ons, you must be on pay and go. Here are the settings straight form o2 themselves.
.
*PLEASE NOTE* - All steps must be completed to ensure the settings are correctly configured.
Please ensure that when entering 'O2' into the settings that the letter 'O' is selected and not a zero.
1. Tap 'Start'.
2. Tap 'Settings'.
3. Tap the 'Connections' tab.
4. Tap 'Connections'.
5. Under the 'Mobile Web' section tap 'Add a new modem connection'.
6. Enter name for connection of 'O2 Mobile Web'.
7. Select modem type, choose 'Cellular Line (GPRS , 3G).
8. Tap 'Next'.
9. Enter Access Point Name of 'payandgo.o2.co.uk'.
10. Tap 'Next'.
11. Enter the User name of 'payandgo'.
12. Enter the password of 'password'.
13. Tap 'Advanced'.
14. On the TCP/IP tab, tap 'Use server-asssigned IP address.
15. Tap the 'Servers' tab and tap 'Use specific server address'.
16. Tap on 'DNS' and enter '193.113.200.200'.
17. Tap on 'Alt DNS' and enter '193.113.200.201'.
18. Tap 'OK'.
19. Tap 'Finish'.
20. Under the 'Mobile Web' section tap 'Manage existing connections'.
21. Tap your new connection so it has a spot next to it, this will make it your active settings.
