MDA Compact II (Charmer) camera problem - MDA Compact II General

Hi guys
I recently bought an MDA Compact II and was really disappointed with the camera, as it is too dark and practically unusable when there is no sunlight.
But that's not the problem. The problem is that I also got one for my girlfriend cos she needed a GPS for the car and....surprise...the camera (i.e. brightness) is 1000 times better! ALL the settings are the same, however hers will automatically adjust the brightness much more and make it much lighter (very nice actually) when there is not much physical light. Mine also makes automatic adjustments but to a much much smaller level.
The only differences these phones have, are:
1. I have installed the updated ROM on mine
2. I have SIM unlocked mine
Any ideas?
Could it be the ROM? If so, do you think I can find the old rom anywhere?
Thanks very much.

I have just updated my Charmer to the newest ROM last night and found the same degrade in camera quality too, though it isn't too bad like yours but still worse and darker than the original shipped ROM.

I'm using the latest uk t-mobile rom and my camera seems fine.
I'm guessing yo have played with the Adjustment option to change the brightness, contrast etc?

should make a huge difference

camera problem still
I too have just installed the latest T-mobile upgrade, and the camera is very dark...and yes I've fiddled with the settings. The camera patch sounds great, but won't run....it comes up with an unsuccessful message...anyone any thoughts?

I successfully installed the patch on my phone, but it didn't make any difference at all (at least not for the better!)...So the problem remains...which is a shame, considering it is (apparently) coming from the firmware and not the hardware!

i solved the problem on my mda compact II on t-mobile (uk) all i did is changed the home screen settings and removed the t-mobile bit and went back to normal theme and now camarah is perfect this has worked on 2 others as well lol so i guess there is a prob with the t-mobile customisation software

Hi... I had the same problem... I changed the Flicker Filter Option from auto to 50hz and it works!!!!!!
Please try and reply

xda neo camera problem

hi,
i've got a problem with the cam of my prophet. each time i want to use it, its like in the night mode so its not possible to shot a pic or use the video mode till you don't move. if you move the jam you get blurred or wiggly images. is there any way to fix this problem?
Same problem (camera makes strange psycedelic pictures)
I have recently updated the rom of my xda neo to the latest version offered from o2. And now the camera always makes this silly pics.
any ideas???
i upgrade too to the lastest rom, and it improve my camera quality..
what's the rom you have? a new rom was released recently?
Overclocking causes strange camera behaviour (omap850, WM5 update)
The problem only occurs when the omap processor is overclocked (> 195MHz). The higher the clock rate is set the stranger the picture is looking (more green/pink pixelated areas).

The problem is caused by the new ROM 2.15.04.140.
Mine's worse....pressing the camera button on the side and nothing comes up on the screen...only black screen. And will return normal to desktop if I pressed OK button. Anyone know how to solve this problem?
TQ.

[Q] Android 2.3.3 on XPeria X10i: Where is the automatic activation of LED Camera?

(Sorry the english. I used the google translator)
Hello everyone!
A few days ago I upgraded my XPeria X10a (branded) Android 2.1 to version 2.3.3. The new version of ROM is XPeria X10i (debranded). The ROM was obtained right here at XDA, but it is official.
Everything is working fine since then, but yesterday I decided to take a picture in low light conditions, and the LED lighting (which I call a camera flash) did not activate automatically. I'd Look for an option in the settings and saw that there is an option to "turn on the flashlight." By turning on the "flashlight", the LED was turned on and activated continuously.
I'm absolutely sure that when I first bought the phone (Android version 2.1, i guess, before upgrading to 2.3.3) and tested a photo, and remember that the LED was turned on automatically in low light condition, and this does not seem longer be happening.
I wonder if this is a bug or a feature is removed from the new version of Android, or if I did something wrong when I upgraded.
This sounds silly, but so far I'm loving the new Android and was wondering if I did something wrong.
I am willing to give more information if you need it.
Thank you!
Pretty sure we never had flash with any stock firmware. You had to use a third party app.
Yeah, always had to turn on the flash manually with stock camera.

Android 2.3.3 on XPeria X10i: Automatic activation of Camera's LED?

I really sorry my mistake, but my last thread was closed too quick. I need to discuss about this.

New informations...
My old rom was the original XPeria X10a. The brand carrier was TIM and the Android version was the last official version of Android on this phone, Android 2.1 i guess. To activate the camera i press the camera hardware button until the phone vibrate and that time, when the camera was focusing the object (my mother ehehe) the LED was turned on and when the photo was taken the LED blinks and turn off. This behaviour is happening on the XPeria X10 min pro from my girlfriend, exactly like my old XPeria X10a branded ROM.
Please, this is very strange and must be known by everyone. THERE ARE a X10 official ROM with automatic camera LED switch, and this is not a guess, this is an affirmation. So, what is this ROM? How to "patch" my actual ROM to get the correct behaviour of camera LED?

Outdoors brightness issue!

Hello everyone, I've noticed recently that whenever my phone is under direct sunlight, the screen doesn't get as bright as before, in fact it's barely visible with auto and maximum brightnes. I also noticed that the "Optimized for outdoors visibility" (sort of) is no longer mentioned under the brightness slider.
I haven't modified my phone nor flashed any custom kernel, it's running the latest officially available XEF firmware.
I've done tests under the *#0*# menu and the sensor seems to be working just fine reacting to changes, also was using Samsung good lock and though it was the culprit so I removed it but the issue remains. So I really have no idea what might be the problem here, any advice guys :/ ? Thanks!!

Z3 compact user in 2019

Hello,
I am getting my z3 compact tomorrow. I would like some input from existing users about the phone:
1) which official rom will give me the best user experience, meaning best camera, snappiness, the least problems/bugs. I usualy prefer the rom that the phone was shipped with, so is there a reason to go to newer rom, meaning better battery life, bug fixes, better camera ?
2) as i know camera on this phone is horrible, what do i need to know to get at least mediocre performance out of it ? Do u suggest superior auto or manual ?
3) anything else i need to know ? I will mostly use it for calls, camera, occasionaly google maps and music, almost never for webpage browsing or videos, never for games
1) I use the official .291 ROM with MM
2) Use the Cyberian camera mod and Manual mode
3) There is the common touch screen issues and issues with 3.5jack
1) i have it at 6.0.1 right now. I would rather remain at stock since i dont wanna mess up camera keys and add more bugs.
2) do i have to root phone for this cyberian camera ? Could you quickly explain what gains i get with it over default camera ?
3) i didnt get touchscreen issues, didnt test 3.5 jack yet. The only problem i had so far was that when i wanted to take a photo and before taking it, i was moving phone very quickly and suddenly i got artifacts and screen tearing on screen. 1 thing to note is that phone was quite warm at the moment because i was bulk installing apps. After that i wasnt able to replicate the problem again. I hope it was momentary thing and that phone will work ok
Btw phone is updated to last rom and factory reset (actualy factory reset 2 times in a row). And there is a wierd thing. When i connect to my computer, i want to be able to access my pictures right away. But instead i have to click mtp mode on screen of mobile phone. I went to connectivity and basicly i have no option there to change default connectivity mode - the only thing there is option to automaticly install software when connected to pc. Is there a way to change things so that when i connect the phone to pc, i dont have to press anything and be able to access pictures right away
No one using this phone anymore ?

i'm still sticking with z3c, but i'm a noob, probably not the best person to answer your question.
i have never tried official stock 6.0.1, i tried slimm 6.0.1 and existenz 6.0.1 but the battery life is disappointing.
at the moment i'm going back to official stock 5.1.1 with cyberian camera.
i think u need to root, (after root, CLEAR DATA "Camera","Camera Common" & "Video" and then flash cyberian camera via recovery)
i never had ur screen tearing issue.
Miui 7, Androplus Kernel v32' and living normally...
z3c my emergency mobile..existenz rom. is a pseudocustom that preserves all the functionality Z series, ant +, mirrorlink 1: 1, etc. mobile 10, comfortable, beautiful, well built, much better than the later z5c. I have had 2 z3c and 2 z5c and the z3c is much more device. I have had the bad luck to always have devices with the bootloader closed(prototype) and not be able to enjoy them 100%, but existenz is very good rom for daily use

Don't worry about that, it's normal. It was one of the "great" and new features in android MM. Every device which runs stock, or nearly stock android MM will do the same when connected to a PC. So seriously, no worries, it's okay, you'll always need to select MTP.
Btw touch focus doesnt work in camera. I click on a spot but it does nothing. I would really love to have option to focus to my liking before taking a picture. And i dont want to use dedicated camera button

You're in Manual Mode? There's no Touch Focus option in Superior Auto.
There are lots of used Z3 Compact ads for sale with the touch not working.
I'm using omnirom 8.1 and z3c.
The touchscreen-issue is very common on this phone indeed. I exchanged my touchscreen of my 3-year-old Z3C by myself and if you have some suiteable tools, a calm hand and a bit of time, the process is possible for an average-experienced user. There are lots of Youtube-Videos as well. My girlfriend had a Z3C as well and the touchscreen of this phone was broken too. Seems like planned obsolescence?
Carbon Rom Oreo. It's always been my go to rom when I cannot find a smooth and fluid rom, or when the rom doesn't support the device's specific features , such as the z3c's camera button. I've used the rom on the z3c for all of 2 days so far and I'm continually amazed at how the devs have managed to create such a polished experience.

Is your phone D5803 or D5833? Mine is the second one and just can't boot if I install any custom ROM. I tried many but none worked

1. Stock Rom 6.0.1, Lollipop 5.1.1 is more smooth and not heating
2. Use cyberian mod, using manual mode had more good image than superior auto but you must set the manual settings first
