PPC 6700 (brand new - all current) and MVC so close to working - XV6700, PPC-6700 General

I posted to the VCABT project last night. I have managed to get the BT to activate the VC but still have the open BT connect problem that prevents another VC session until the dialer shuts the BT connection. See solution posting and help plea in the Project VCABT thread [posted by amayfield on 10/7/06.

Multiple Bluetooth Devices

Hi there guys, its been a while since posting but I have some great news regarding using multiple bluetooth devices in the car.
A few weeks ago I purchased a Navman 4410 GPS unit for my XDAII. With the new "72" rom the Navman worked perfectly with my XDAII straight out of the box over bluetooth.
Today I installed a Sony Ericsson HBC-30 bluetooth hands free carkit (Which also worked perfectly out of the box). I was interested to know if I could have the GPS unit operating and have the handsfree carkit working at the same time.
I was simply sitting in the carpark, with the GPS connected and onscreen, then I used my other phone to call my XDAII... the call came up on screen (interrupting the GPS screen) I pressed the "answer" button on the Sony Ericsson handsfree kit, and the call came through perfectly!
Once finished with the call I pressed the "hangup" button on the handsfree kit, and then a few quick taps on the screen returned me to the GPS navigation screen.
Certainly not perfect, however it appears that the bluetooth issues are finally getting resolved, and allowing us to begin using the XDAII as it was intended.
Hi Colonel, thanks for your update, it is comforting to know that they are finally sorting out BT problems.
Is there any way to get the phone screen to automatically close after finishing a call? so I don't have to manually close it to get back to my GPS screen?
No I dont think you can. Not without altering the GPS software to continually make sure its "on top" of other windows... but then you'd have a problem with seeing the "incoming call screen" as the GPS software would try to jump on top of it.
I'd be so happy simply if I could make HCB30 and Blutrek G2 headset work side by side on my Qtek...
points are:
1-where coul i get that da***n 1.72 rom for my xda 2
2-where could i get the g2 HS in italy(even worlwide...) or all over the web at reasonable price
help a newbie...
Kolonel,
I can confirm your experience as far as BT GPS is concerned.
I however still have one issue to solve: When the MDAII (=XDA2) can't connect to the GPS (BT off, GPS off, GPS out of reach) and I start TomTom3, TomTom3 keeps searching for the GPS which results in a almost freezing MDA2.
Using rom 1,72 from Qtek I bonded the BT GPS and confirmed the question about assigning a com port.
In TomTom I assigned this (COM5) com port.
All works fine except for the issue mentioned.
Does this sound familiar?
Clues?
BTW in the BT settings screen there is nothing shown about the assigned com port (just free space next to the two lines that should indicate the in- and outbound com ports). I found COM5 to be assigned to BT by trial and error . . .

edsub,
Are you using "Bluetooth Tools"? Because I am not, i'm using the native bluetooth stack only.
I am using "Outbound" Com port 5 ONLY for my GPS. My 1.72 rom is the IMATE rom.
Im afraid that i'm not familiar with tomtom. So I cant help you there, sorry.
I am deliberately only using native MS bT stack.
I am only using COM5 for GPS too
What does the BT Settings show under
"Bluetooth Serial Port Setup"?
With me:
"Outbound COM port" checked, but after the colon is a "<not present>" shown.
"Inbound COM port" UNchecked, after the colon is a grayed-out "<not present>" shown.
Like i said I AM able to use the GPS via COM5.
Maybe this issue is a pure TomTom issue, I think your answer could clarify that.

bluetooth
hi guys
im using imate 172 and tomtom 3 with a sony ericsson hb35 it works first time all the time with the standard stack. it works that good i even went and sold my carkit and just got a hold instead
@Kolonel Klink: I guessed it's strange. What ROM are you using exactly (OS & Extended).
I use the 1.72 Qtek rom with my own Extended Rom (wich is based on the Qtek ExtRom to which I added T-Mobile Nl customisations). I am sure there is nothing regarding Bluetooth in my ExtRom.
I heard from someone who uses the iMate 1.72 OS Rom (with his own cooked ExtRom) that he has the same results as you have.
Just trying to find to cause of this. Maybe I have to reflash to the iMate 1.72?? (shouldnt make a difference as both iMate and Qtek OS ROM's are the same 1.72.00WWE . . . .)
@freelockuk: Most interesting is the origin of your ExtRom. Arent there any Bluetooth enhancements in that ExtRom (like there were in the 1.60.36 T-Mobile NL ExtRom) that maybe make your 1.72 work better than mine concerning Bluetooth?
addition to prev post:
I noticed that there were two BT registry settings missing to get the assigned COMport show in BT Settings.
Also noticed another interesting value:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ExtModems\bluetooth_dun]
With me this one is:
"port"="BSP9:"
In prev versions it was:
"port"="BSP4:"
Can anyone with a 1.72 ROM that has a BT GPS mouse working via SPP AND who can start Tom Tom without the BT GPS mouse 'connected' post their setting of this key??
Okay, i've not cooked my own extended rom. I'm using the stock standard one from iMate.
I did find something odd today. I went into an IT expo and I turned flight-mode on. When I was finished I left and turned flight mode off. Then got in my car. I tried to make a call and it didnt go thru the handsfree kit.
Weird! I had to repair the device. So I did... and it all worked fine again. So I turned flight mode back on then off, and I ended up with the same result. It appears to lose the pairing when you turn the flight mode on.
Very odd!
I still have not found a solution to the behaviour where TomTom locks up the MDA with is isnt able to connect to my BT GPS.
Today I found out that this same behavious accurs on devices (not just MDA, HP too) that use a serial (wired) GPS when they take the current off the GPS . . .
That means:
1. TomTom Navigator can't cope with the situation where it cant connect to the GPS that is installed
2. With me TomTom navigator is not able to use the Bluetooth protocol on its side to cope with the (for Bluetooth GPS quite usual) unavailability of the BT GPS.
Again: Can anyone post me some info on this :?: :?:
Especially the registry items under
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Bluetooth\]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Bluetooth\SerialPort]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ExtModems\bluetooth_dun]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ExtModems\bluetooth_dcn]
are of interest
@ Klink
Thanks for sharing your experiences, I'm watching them with interest.
Just wanted to as you about using your navman and the headset at the same time.
In your first post to this topic, you mentioned your 'carpark' test. I assume you weren't moving at the time, so the navman wasn't trying to give you directions.
What happens when you're driving along, getting instructions (ie. "turn left in 300m") from your navman, and the phone rings? Does the navman stop giving directions while you are talking on the phone using your BT handsfree? When you hang up does it resume giving directions again?
Thanks,
Hooligan
Emtact Trine BT GPS, Bluetrek G3 BT Headset
Like all of you my exprience is that it all works together.
But I've one problem. When navigating with TomTom and there is a incoming phone call and when I accept the call with my headset TomTom continues navigating but the sound of my QTEK2020 is muted during the call. So the instructions of TomTom cannot be heard.
I'm using plain MS BT Stack.
Regards,
Mark
This behaviour seems not the be dependent of the use of a BT headset. I have a carkit and during a call TomTom stays active in background. Sound of TomTom is muted however, which I find nice.
When the phone call is ended, TomTom starts talking again.(also nice)
first of all my nevigation program works great with the jabra 250 bt , it also mutes the program during a call is madeqreceived but :
there is anothe program that is called "ontime" that sends trqaffic status to the imate, using the gprs andthen calculates the fastest root( from junction to juction) and the problem is:
if i want to use buth progtams with royaltek gps bt rbt1000 they both need the com5 port fot bt.
to solve this problem one can use a prog called: "gpsgate" which makes a virtual port for the programs to use so u can use several program with one bt device.
for some it works only with bt tools, for others it doesnt work at all, gos knows why?!
but - if any1 needs a solution - here is one.
have a nice day , spark
QTEK 2020 - 1.72.00 WWE - 1.06.01
Back Pack - jabra 250 BT- royaltek rbt 1000 GPS BT - DESTINATOR3(LIKE TOM TOM 3) - soon will recieve sd 1gb*40
Spark, where did you get 'gpsgate'??

bluetooth manager

I'm used the bluetooth manger on other pocket pc's but on the MDA its missing. Are there any good alternative managers?? To pair and manage devices?
There is no BT Manager like other pda's available.
For Himalaya it is because of the use of a MS BT Stack, instead of Widcomm.
Dont know for Magician though
To save you the hassle of using the search function, try Pocket Bluetooth Tools, note new URL everybody.
http://www.bluetooth.jazztel.es/
rgds,
Alex.
Beware of the minus's of Pocket Bluetooth Tools and the fact is is not needed from (at least rom) 1.72 onwards
Yes, there are some minuses (auto switch off, etc), but I used it b4 1.72 with TomTom and a Polstar BT GPS with no problems. I now don't need it as TT3 seems to be ok with the MS BT stack.
If you could let us know what you want it for, someone should be able to advise more specifically.
BTW, I re-read my post and I wasn't being funny about using the search. I had the same problem when trying to track down Pocket Bluetooth Tools, there are so many topics on Bluetooth it takes a long time to find what you're looking for. So I put it here in this nice short topic (now rapidly growing!) to try and make it easier for others to find in the future as well.
cheers,
Alex.
Is there any option on bt tools for not automatically turning on BT each time I call someone? I ended up uninstalling it because of this. Thanks!
Browse other i mate jam
Hi,
how can i connect to other jam with BT and browse on it or connect to other device like mobile pf nokia and browse it ?
thnx

Project VCABT - Voice Command Activation over Bluetooth

UPDATED 11/12/05
Just to clarify. This patch enables you to launch Voice Command (or any other app) by pressing your bluetooth headset button. It DOES NOT transfer sytem audio to the headset OR allow you to issues Voice commands via the headset. Its still a top peice of work tho ;-)
Some people also have an issue where the BT headset audio receiver will stay on indefinitely using up its battery unless you place a call or turn it off.
I dont get this issue. YMMV!

Dear all.
There is now a working hack to allow voice dial activation from a bluetooth headset.
NOTES
1. This hack DOES NOT transfer system audio to the headset via bluetooth. That is still being worked on.
2. This hack only works on the HTC Magician.
To date it has worked on all Magician types including:
iMate Jam
Qtek S100 S110
MDA Compact
Orange M500
VPA Compact
XDA MINI
Instructions:
Download the zip and install the cab file to enable the hack. Thats it!
Note:
The cab file will place a copy of voicecmd.exe in /windows and rename it to Voice Signal Launcher.exe
If you use another voice activation program you will have to copy the .exe, put it in /windows and rename it to Voice Signal Launcher.exe
If you have any questions not covered here please ask them in the thread and somewill help

Original post below:
Hi,
I am making a new thread for all discussion related to getting voice command working over bluetooth, i.e you push the button on your headset and the Voice Command activates.
This functionality has been achieved on the Eten M500, which uses the M$ bluetooth stack
See
http://translate.google.com/transla...&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&prev=/language_tools
Stack the Bluetooth implemented in the Eten M500 has been realized from the same Eten on the base of stack the Microsoft.
The society has enriched it, and this is now in a position to offering the following profiles: Service Discovery, Headset and Hands-free, Dial-up, Object Exchange, Generic Access, Serial Port and Gateway-audio.
This last one is of great importance, since beyond guaranteeing I listen of the sounds of system or the reproduced MP3 in cap (optional), allows the operation of the application Voice Commander (about which we will speak in the next page), concurring to directly command the device from a Bluetooth earpiece.
E' instead absent profile PAN (Person Network Area), that it would have allowed the device to approach Internet in presneza of points of Bluetooth access.

Click to collapse
We need a dump of the Eten M500 rom, and then we need someone with more braincells than me ;-) to extract the Bluetooth stack....
Is this possible / doable?

Yess please!!! That's what we've been waiting for the whole time!!!
Let's make it work, ppl!
Did you notice if your JAM is in sleep mode pusing button on the headset actually wakes it up? At least, that what happenes with my Bluespoon AX, also it supports last number dialing by pressing volume buttom fro more that 2 sec. It prooves that JAM understands keypresses on the headset! Even on pre-production MPX unit it worked with MS stack!
Did the MPX have the M$ stack?
It may be easier to get a rom dump of that rather than the ETEN,
IIRC it was only the pre production MPX's that enabled VC over BT?
Does anyone here own a Pre ProMPX or an Eten 500?
There are many people on HowardForums that have both phones.
The hard part is to get them to do it.
i can hang up a call with my scala500 bluetooth headset, it just will not answer.....
From what I can see on this translated page, ETEN has a bit more advanced bt stack than JAM. I am not sure, if that is MS newer stack or ETEN's customized stack. Either way, I want it.
as far as I know.. the BT stack used by E-Ten 500 is made by the same company that made the device....
I hope we can get this to work.... it's very nice to have something more advanced the stupid M$ BT stack...
Hello guys.I have an .exe file that is a firmware upgrade for Eten P700 that probably have the same bt stak that M500,because it is using voice command 1.5 from Cyberon.
If any one want to try to play with that .exe i can upload it to somewhere.
Can you upload it please to XDA-DEV ftp site?
Cyberon's Voice Commander is different from Microsoft Voice Command. Can anyone confirm that it's Voice Command from Microsoft that even supports this feature at all?

I have a QTEK9090 but i think this happens in all models, so it could work on all models:
with the bluetooth headset ON, if you press ANSWER on the headset, if wakes the phone and you hear kind of a phoneline noise. I know the QTEK can't send/receive sound to/from bluetooth if its is not in a call (BT3900). What we have to try, is to build a program that accepts signal from the phoneline, like it would try to make a phone call so that bluetooth comunication is ON, and then listen to the micro to get the voice dialer message. Instead of trying to make the QTEK send/receive normal audio thruw BT, why not make a program that access the phone line to send/receive audio? the quality is not the same, but we could shurelly could voice dial at least.
I'm not a PPC programmer, but i've done some programs in other languages, so I have a programmer mind Hope this helps someone who knows how to program for this device.

Please Please Please Please can any developer who is willing to help with this head over to HoFo and this thread:

Where there are several ETEN 500 owners ready to help.
To reiterate, the plan is to find a way to dump the ETEN ROM, and then have a look and try to work out how they enriched the M$ BT stack to allow Voice Command to work over Bluetooth.
Many thanks.

I have n eten M500. Jus tell me what exactly i haveta do and i will do all that i can.
Can you dump out a copy of the bluetooth stack?
I'm not an expert...mm...hope some one can give you the right advice!
I dunno if there is a way to put in a cab the installation..however do exist something like an upgrade? I mean on the Eten cd there is something like a bluetooth upgrade or something helpfull?
Hoping someone can direct this hack.
Come on, we've got a chance! There's a user who want to help us...

Audio via Bluetooth? - Orange spv m500 to H3? - Help!!!!

I have search all the threads I could find.....
I have installed all the possible programs to no avail (BCHS, Bluecast, Bluetunes etc)
.....and I just can't seem to find a definative answer to:
HOW DO I STREAM MUSIC/AUDIO (either from MP or TCMP) FROM MY ORANGE SPV M500 TO MY MOTOROLA H3 BT HEADSET.
Please, please, please, could some genius out there save me and give me a concise answer (please don't just point me to another thread as I have done thread trawling for a month now).
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!!!!!!!
You have to install the A2DP patch. There's a thread dedicated for this patch plus there are so many other threads discussing similar things. Please do a search.
By the way you can rename TCMPC (betaplayer) to wmplayer & put it in windows folder , but remote controll won`t working
Zerimar, I have looked for several days and can't find the patch for a stock orange M500 (+ swiss ROM update) running MW2003.
Can you point me in the right direction? or send me the patch?
And Rustos, what do you mean by "but remote controll won`t working". What functions won't work if I rename it?
Any help greatly appreciated!
I don't think this is possible with a mono headset on the Magician, with the normal bluetooth stack. Check out the thread regarding a new bluetooth stack (it says "stock" in the thread title).
V
Thanks for that vijay555, but that thread has a file called : BCHS_FOR_POCKET_PC_OZONE[1].ARMV4.CAB
When I put this the Windows/programs folder, then execute it installs then gives me an error message saying "this program might not work properly because it was designed for an earlier version of windows"
The BCHS program seems to do nothing.
What am I doing wrong, (are there other things I have to install) or do you know of any other way I can stream audio from my M500 to H3 headset (mono). I don't care which audio player (WMP or TCMP) I have to use.........
Thanks for you help so far.
it may say that, u gotta soft reset then go into bluetooth settings again and a host of new options will be available.
managed to get the program working and all the options did appear (re-install and then soft reset) but my headset is not listed in the drop down box. I tried all the configurations but no combination will actually send the audio to my headset.:x
Can anyone verify if this patch will work with mono headsets? or better still has anyone got this working with the Motorola H3?
How about the Bluesoleil BT stacK? Anyone tried it with a MONO BT headset?
Will that one work?
I think most probably the NEW STACK is only for A2DP ....
I want to get it to work with mono BT headset too....
Nevertheless, even the O2 Atom, Wizard , Prophet, and Universal ,cannot stream audio to mono BT headset.
only my HP hx4700 can do it~ MS BT stack sucks!

O2 XDA Mini S, TOMTOM 5.21 WM5 - Handsfree disconnects

Hello All,
I have today noticed a problem with my XDA Mini S following the installation of TT 5.21 - Before the software was installed the phone would pair and remain connected with my Vauxhall, factory fit, bluetooth carkit. Calls could me made and received, phonebook info would sync with no problems - all 600 entries!
Following the installation of TT5.21 the phone will now disconnect after 15-20 seconds from the carkit unless TT is running with an active route and the TT Traffic updates enabled!!!
Trying to make a call without TT running means that it only presents on the phone and does not go though to the car kit. Even with tomtom running, unless you have a route planned and TT traffic active then it will still disconnect from the carkit...
I have posted a question to tomtom technical support regarding this and will also try O2 tomorrow to see if they have seen this before...
Anybody else seen anything like this?
Andy. :?
Silly question - is the bluetooth on constantly on the Mini S? If not you need to do this.
TomTom switches bluetooth on automatically if it isn't on already, if you have a BT receiver selected, which I assume you have.
Its not a silly question - I thought that this was the problem to start with but even with Tomtom running and talking to the GPS receiver, it still disconnects from the car kit unless tomtom traffic is active and you have an active route... :? :?
No updates from TT Support yet  - i'll post when I receive something.
Tomtom support came back today with the following response - reading it, it is obvious that they have not understood the problem...I have written back to them pointing out the fact that it also disconnects even when Tomtom isn't running - Only way to get it to work is to have tomtom traffic running - maybe something in that... ;-)
Since we do not support the usage of third-party carkits (Bluetooth or wired/serial), we are only able to offer a technical theory as to your problem.
As your carkit is connected with a (virtual) Bluetooth serial connection, there is most likely an internal conflict with regards to the serial connection. PDA's support multiple Bluetooth profiles (methods of connecting), but typically bind the serial port to one device. Seeing this, the most likely culprit is the fact that the PDA keeps on switching focus between the two devices that use the serial port: Your BT GPS-receiver and the BT Carkit. When Navigator 5 is running, it pre-empts the serial port connection for the GPS-receiver, which forces the connection to stabilise.
Though we cannot offer you a solution to your problem, please try changing the settings of your BT Serial connection (removing the Authentication and Encryption options).
Kind regards,
The TomTom Customer Support Team
