I don't use GPRS at all..i only use the internet via my wi fi on my xda 2i..i'm fed up of the "cannot connect..." bubble popping up every 10 seconds and wondered if it could be completely removed, any help greatly appreciated

I've got the same problem until I put my pay as you go sim and hard reset the xda2i (please back up your set up first.) GPRS on xda2I in my opinion, works only on contract sim, but you could experiment by selecting pre pay rather than post pay even if you have a contract sim card on gprs settings at final stages of hard reset.

Hello, I feel the English poor man, is a translation of google. I have one qtek s100 and use the following method, proves uses you for your machine.

REG HACK - Turn off GPRS totally (and back to working state) without going to setting
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
REG HACK - Turn off GPRS totally (and back to working state) without going to settings
1: You need a Registry editor ( eg. Resco Explorer )
2: Find the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ConnMgr\Providers\{7C4B7A38-5FF7-4bc1-80F6-5DA7870BB1AA}\Connections\
3: under that , you should see you GPRS settings , for example , mine 's OPTUS GPRS Internet , OPTUS GPRS MMS etc , pick the right one and export it to the *.REG file, and name it to something like " GPRS ON.reg "
4: Modify the setting inside ( for example OPTUS GPRS Internet ) , and change the Enabled value from 1 to 0, then export it to GPRS OFF.reg
use the GPRS ON /OFF .reg to toggle between GPRS always off and on when required.

Orange GPRS XDA settings for pay monthly

I HAVE TRIED ALL THE GPRS SETTINGS ON THIS SITE BUT STILL CANNOT GET IT TO WORK,
BUT IF YOU ARE LIKE ME.
MY FRIEND AS A ORANGE MOBILE SHOP.HE IS GOING TO GIVE ME THE FULL SETTINGS ON SATURDAY 28/06/03. AND I WLL PUT THEM ON THIS
SITE
i have just got back in, and it WORKS, i have a xda on o2, i have unlocked my 02 xda with the software on this website, it is really good. But the settings on this website for the gprs none of them would work. I had an Orange pay monthly sim card with gprs enabled which, when i unlocked my xda, i couldn't establish a connection with gprs so here goes; here are the settings you need:
on the xda today screen
go on (start)
(settings)
(connections)
(connections)
on the,( when needed, automatically connect to the internet using these settings
drop the menu don and tap (new)
and write (orangegprs)
tap (next)
on the (select a modem)
drop the menu don and tap (oncellular line gprs)
drop the menu don and tap (baud rate) and tap (19200)
and tap next
access point name (orangeinternet) and tap finish
go back to (connections)
and tap (dialing lacations) tap dialing patterms change all the settings to G
tap (ok)
on connections tap modify orangegprs
tap modem tap orangegprs,tap advanced,
tap use name servers, tap use specific server address,
in dns 158.043.192.001
in alt dns 158.043.128.001
in wins leave it as 0
in alt wins leave it as 0
tap ok
tap next
tap finish
tap ok
that's it, you're done, but it's important when you connect to the internet, you must go from the today screen - start - settings - connections - connections (again) - and connect. Once you have connected to the gprs, then launch internet explorer.
If you don't do it this way, the 02 software wants to change all your connection settings back to 02.
Hope this helps you all out.
Please give me feedback
HI dave,
I was just going to post a message asking if someone had grps settings for orange in the UK !!!!!
just like you , i had an o2 xda which i unlocked using the fab tools by xda-developers.
i will get gprs enabled on my sim and then try your settings.
You are saying that, once configured, i cant just click on IE to launch the gprs ?
thanks mate
Hi Ali-Butt
I forgot to say you will b asked for a user name and pass word
leave this all blank and judt tick the save box
cheers mate
i am doing the settings now !!!
can i ask, why you have one set DNS settings and another posts by other chaps have others????
i have seen
dns1:193.35.131.194
dns2:193.35.131.195
are these wrong?
thanks mate
HI Mate
WhenI got the GPRS working with the settings I have posted, when I clicked on ie, without connecting to the GPRS first the settings change back to the o2 settings. How I connect is to go to start, settings, connections and connections again and then connect, then the GPRS will connect then I launch ie. Since then I removed from the xda the o2 smart menu from the add and remove programmes now I can just launch ie and I have no problems, at the beginning when I put the settings in and I was having trouble with the o2 settings taking over, for some reason I can't understand the orange settings were all still correct but would not work so even though the settings were still there and correct I had to start re entering them as a new connections all over again. Hope this helps you out, if you have any trouble please post a message on here and I will be more than willing to hepl you.
cheers Dave
HI Mate
pay as you go. i think
dns1:193.35.131.194
dns2:193.35.131.195
it is pay monthly i think but these work
dns1:158.043.192.001
dns2:193.043.128.001
dave
Hi dave,
thanks for your posts.
i can now tell you my findings.
firstly, i created a new connection with the apn "orangeinternet"
using cellular gprs as the line and 19200 as the speed.
If i click on ie.... it connects first time !!!.. works a treat !
if i click on internet on the O2 smart menu, it tries to connect back to O2....
so quick solution, just remove it from the main screen and your laughing!
so mine is all working without specifying any dns settings. Perhaps its all dhcp , with ip / gateway / dns all coming down from orange?
do you think it will make any difference adding them in?
perhaps faster name resoultion?
cheers dave

Orange GPRS
Hi,
I'm a bit of a newbie with the XDA, Ive setup as per the instructions above and I'm connecting ok (i think) - as i can send retrieve emails and surf - I'm just a little unsure as to whether it's connecting via GPRS or just by a data call as I dont get the "G" on the screen to signify GPRS - can anyone help please
Cheers
G
Hi, i have this sorted now. you create a new internet connection and use the gprs setting from the dropdown, the only setting you need is the accesspoint name which id payginternet, all other settings are default... even the orange phone trainers couldnt get it working.
ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT GUYS, IT WORKS A TREAT!
LAST NIGHT I WAS SO DESPERATE THAT I WAS GOING TO CALL IT A DAY, BUT… I KEPT READING YOUR POSTINGS AND I THINK YOU ARE ALL SUPERB!!!
MANY THANKS TO YOU ALL. NOT EVEN ORANGE KNOWS HOW TO DO THESE SETTINGS.
I need HELP !!!
I have tried to follow various updates here to connect my O2 XDA via GPRS to ORANGE UK. It have the PPC2003 Cooked ROM and hence none of the above instructions are quite what I see.
However all I had to do was:
start -> settings -> connections -> connections --> created a connection called ORANGE with modem type "Cellular Line (GPRS) -> Next -> "ACCESS POINT NAME" typed: "orangeinternet"
Afterthis do NOT fill in anything for userid or password and just select FINISH.
I also had to: Start -> Settings -> Connections -> Connections -> select ADVANCED tab -> "Select Location" button -> select Mobile and press Edit button -> Select DIALING PATTERNS button -> For ALL entries select "G" instead of the default "+EFG".
With all above done I CAN connect to internet and even connected to my ISP WEBMAIL but it is slow. I also do NOT get the "G" icon for GPRS.
I am not sure if this is conecting via GPRS or NOT ???
when I type WWW.ORANGE.NET it does say it is connecting via GPRS but I do not see the "G" icon. Any help ???
Also I just signed up for ORANGE UK EMAIL and then tried to via orange.net instruction to configure my XDA inbox but they only recognise a small number of PDAa with PPC2003 connected to a phone via bluetooth or IRD. They do not support PPC 2003 or XDA.
HOW Do you configure the XDA inbox to connect to orange pop3 and smpt server and download mail ???
PS: I can ping SMTPOUT.ORANGE.NET but no pop3 server...
Thanks for any help. :!:
I just figure out what to do to get connected to Orange email.
Simply: start -> Inbox -> Accounts -> New Account -> Type in your Orange EMail Address -> Type in your USERNAME and PASSWORD and select "Save password" -> NEXT -> FINISHED.
That is it. I can connect to internet and email via my INBOX and WEBMAIL.
WEBMAIL is slow but inbox is just OK on the move.
Hi I have a XDA II I have unlatched it from O2 I am now on orange I need to be able to send and recieve MMS, the instructions dont seem to work on my XDA, orange say that I am enabled to send MMS.... can anyone help please Thank you
asking about internet sharing with P3600 and P6500
Hello,
i have learned a lot reading this forum and i am wondering if you know about this:
When my PC connect to internet through internet sharing of P3600 i get H mode (HSDPA), then how can i see the real rate of sharing ?
Is it reaching 10 Mb of local network, or else ?
What is the real rate of HSDPA for P3600 ? And for P6500 ?
(1.6 Mb/s and 7.2 Mb/s ? )
Do you think QUALCOMM of SIRIUS P6500 can support overclock ?
Do you know DNS settings for french orange internet with PDA ?
Thanks anyway. Mobility with HTC is much fun and efficiency.
; -))
I also share this experience about energy saving on HTC P3600 and TYTN:
Many users are complaining about autonomy of HTC. I have check settings of internal cards and everything is set - no saving - in extended settings.
Then, i experienced the setting - energy saving - during travels.
I does work, and i get days of battery autonomy.
The most impotant is to set SD card to -ernergy saving, and Wlan, and Wifi, and infrared, and also two other network cards.
Let me know your experience and setting about energy saving please.

O2 UK GPRS / WAP / MMS Setting for HTC TyTn

Hi folks,
I just received my HTC TyTn today and thought I would post to say that it is AWESOME! So much smaller and pocketable than the Exec, 802.11G and a very slick keyboard.
Also, and more importantly, I found that the O2 Settings CAB from my old XDA EXEC works 100% perfectly on this device for setting up MMS / 3G GPRS / WAP etc. Its a single cab which simply installs those settings and no other O2 Active junk etc. Bear in mind this is for O2 UK only and will probably screw-up your device if you are using it in another territory.
I fully tested this with email / terminal services / mms messages and all worked perfectly. I have attached the CAB in a Zip archive (don't forget to log in to see it).
I hope someone finds this useful.
All the best,
Codeus
lol wish i had this when i got mine, i had to manually enter the settings which was a right pain....does the cab install the settings for the http AP over GPRS/3G rather than the standard wap one??
Yes, the Exec which I got the .cab from is also a GPRS 3G phone. so it works perfectly.
I tend to copy useful little cabs like this to my flash card and make them read-only so I can reinstall should I ever have to hard-reset on the road.

This is a very handy Cab file. It is likely to be for those who have a data tarriff i.e subscribed to mobile.O2.co.uk and not payandgo.o2.uk. However all is not lost because you can still install the cab file and then through connections menus you can tweak them for payand go. The following reference shows the different entries between payg and contract:
http://www.mphone.co.uk/mms_wap_settings_o2.html
Installing the cab file. Just download it either directly to your device or to PC. Do not extract or expand the file if it's on your PC just open active sync, use the explore button to open your device files and put it where you want (storage card for preference). Go to your device and tap/double tap the Cab and it will run.

O2 Cab file

I've just noticed your in the US. This cab file is for UK so I guess not much use for you. What I said about Cab files still applies in general though. You'll often find a choice as to whether you want to download a Cab file or an EXE file. Generally (not always) you run Exe files on your computer and they install to your device (while your conected with activesync). Cab files you copy onto your device and just tap them to run them. I like these cos I can store all the good ones on my SDcard and if I ever have to hard reset I have them all ready to tap and install again without resorting to the PC to reinstall everything.

plse help am nw at dis
Brillant, thank you
Thanks for that CAB, just used it to get my Kaiser working.
Just had to change the username and password in the settings and works perfectly.
Many thanks for sharing it.
I tried using this cab, and so far it seems to be all good, but I still can't get my MMS working. They haven't worked since I moved to 02 last year and still using my Vario II.
I've just flashed the Faria32 rom and I'm loving everything so far. I was hoping that this would now start working. Does anyone have any suggestions? Or is it just part of the deal with using a non O2 handset? Internet seems to be working fine... just no mms.
Incoming MMS problems on o2 PAYG fixed
I've had a problem with O2 PAYG, after installing the CAB and changing settings from contract to PAYG everything worked except incoming MMS (outgoing was ok). Eventuially I set O2 Active as my work connection, altered the O2 Active access point to payandgo.o2.co.uk, username=payandgo and password=password. The only proxy set was WAP=193.113.200.195:9201 In the MMS settings, the everything was left as default (connect using O2 Active, gateway 193.113.200.195, port 8080, server http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002)
Not sure why I had to use O2 Active instead of my internet connection with WAP proxy set, but it works now. Happy Bunny
Incidentaially, O2 refused to help me because the Hermes (O2 Trion) is only supported on contract. I guess if you are on PAYG, you could move to a simplicity plan for a month, get O2 to help, then go back to PAYG and change the settings back to the payandgo ones.
One of the reasons I went back to O2 is cos I've always had good customer service... I'm beginning to rethink that with their "computer says no!" help...
Thanks for the help i'm going to see if the O2 Active settings help me at all.
Anno 2009 still working, thank you.
tytn 2 gprs probs on o2 pay and go
hey all
if u are a pay and go customer (im on o2) when ur setting up ur connections simply enter the contract APN in the access point area..not the pay and go one as its restricted. I did this and boom the tytn was on the net! I suspect this could be the same for other pay and go sims. Hope this helps those of u who were bangin their head against the gprs wall of pay and go smartfone world.
Here's the cab file for setting up gprs and mms for PAYG.
Sorry for being such a noob, but what do I do with the cab files after downloading them..?
Where do I copy them to..?
Do I extract them..?

Download, copy to device (anywhere, even storage card), run on the device and let it install. That's it.
thanks this worked great on my pay and go O2 HTC Touch Diamond P3700

8525 PIE / Messenger / Hotmail and GPRS

A couple of days ago with the help of several people postings in this forum I was able to unlock my 8525. But I just realized that PIE stalls for ever opening any page and also the sign in for MS Messenger and Hotmail are impossible with GPRS. My Gmail account is set to retreive email every 15min thru GPRS and is working very different compared on how it works in the 8125 as well with a Qtek 8500. The 3 applications work as a clock during WiFi connections but once I use GPRS simply they don´t work at all. I have an 8125 with he same settings as my 8525 and GPRS and the aforementioned applications work great thru GPRS. Does anybody has a clue on what possible is going wrong?
I have the same problem as you...
can not connect to messenger using gprs... and I'm also in Mexico (monterrey)
Maybe it could be because of the carrier... what company are you using to have gprs service??
Please KINDLY HELP with Project
After 5 or 6 months I decided to rescue my Hermes from the junk box, I was hopping that WM6 would help in data connection problem but unfortunely it didn´t! Then I decided to start a project to investigate the cause of this problem, the first step in the project was a registry key comparison on the same device under 2 different networks (Network "A" where data connection is impossible & Network "B" where data connection is excellent). The first finding was on the reg key:
HKLM\Comm\Cellular Line\Parms\Tcpip
Network "A" registry shows values of 10.11.12.13 and 10.11.12.14 for WINS and Network "B" doesn´t even show this key.
Please help me (and to many others with similar problem) and provide:
1.- Your network name
2.- YES / NO (Your server assign DNS and WINS addresses)
3.- YES / NO (If answer to #2 was YES, please indicate if you see address values for WINS in your registry)
Thanks a lot
Network A
1. Movistar Panama
2. Yes 200.39.10.1
3. No

how to disable GPRS

Any way to disable gprs in the handset. Some of my applications are using gprs for updating and my service provider is charging me like anything. I have wifi and want to use that alone for data... is there a setting somewhere which will help me in disabling GPRS
i tried the nodata ( nogprs) application but its not working for me
Gopu
Do you need GPRS at all? If not, go to Settings->Connections->Connections->Manage existing and delete everything.
Setting > Connection and select "my work network" as internet connection instead of your provider's one.
You can change it back anytime you need to really use GPRS

In the registry you’ve got the following key:
HKLM\Comm\ConnMgr\Providers\{7C4B7A38-5FF7-4bc1-80F6-5DA7870BB1AA}\Connections
Export this key to enable GPRS later on.
Go inside your data connections and you’ll find a key, “Enabled." This key has a value 1, change this for every connection to 0.
There, you're done.
You could try to go to the Comm Manager and disabling "Phone" and activating Wi-Fi.
Hope this helps!
Try the Moto Toggle Widget on the market. Requires root, but works
