How Much Memory Should I have? - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

Newb- ~ 1 week with new Cing-8125 - 1st handheld - it rocks
Why does "Device Info" say
RAM = 64MB
Flash = 128MB
But "Memory" shows:
Memory storage = 47.46MB
Program Total = 44.00MB
This is only 91.46MB
Is this correct ? Where's the rest?
Thanks

I am curious about this as well. According to Device Info, I should have 64MB to run programs and 128MB for storage, but I am well under that. :?
Can anyone explain what is going on???
Thanks,
Dave

You're only going to get 128 MB of ROM and 64 MB or RAM with nothing installed on the device. The ROM, which consists of the OS, the Cingular stuff, and the other included applications takes up quite a bit of storages space, about 57 MB. As for the RAM, the OS needs memory to run as well. I've installed a ton of things on my Cingular 8125 already, so I have no idea what the standard amounts are, perhaps someone would be so kind as to post them.

Missing ROM & RAM

I understand that, but...
I would expect it to report like so:
Storage
Total: 128 MB
In Use: 38.54 MB
Free: 89.46 MB
Program
Total: 64 MB
In Use: 31.73 MB
Free: 32.27 MB
But instead I get:
Storage
Total: 47.46 MB
In Use: 38.54 MB
Free: 8.92 MB
Program
Total: 44.01 MB
In Use: 31.73 MB
Free: 12.28 MB
So what happened to 80.54 MB of ROM (Storage) & 19.99 MB of RAM (Program)? Are you saying that the base OS uses up this much RAM & ROM, and the system just shows it as not even being there? The actual image (nk.nbf) in the OS installer is 80MB in size so this does seem to add up.

is it normal ?
why it is not 128 mb ?
Could you be more especific? The memomy is after installation or what.
isn't 128 because that space have operative system and all other rom programs
To be a bit more precise, when they write 128MB ROM on the box what they really mean is:
64MB (approx.) BOOTLOADER + OS + RADIO
10MB Extended ROM (could be salvaged with a registry tweak)
Whatever is left - storage, but keep in mined about 10+ MB worth of stuff is installed from ext ROM after hard reset.
42.55 MB free storage pretty clean device, but I think you have a whole lot of stuff running in the background as I usually have about 22MB program memory after soft reset.

Question on memory usage

Hello,
When I go to Settings --> System --> Memory :
I see this:
Storage Program
Total: 59.66 MB Total: 49.10 MB
In use: 24.32 MB In use: 19.14 MB
Free: 35.34 MB Free: 29.88 MB
The spec of the phone says that :
ROM=128M
RAM=64M
Why my storage and program don't reflect that?
Also, I don't see any programs actively running, but it still says 19.14 is used?
Thanks.
obviously the operating sw and the system files take up memory. the available memory always less, than in the specfication.

Initial memory on HTC P3600

The initial memory occupied in my HTC P3600 is 10,98MB of Storage memory and 23,86MB of Program memory.
This means that about 50% of Program memory and 20% of Archive are not usable from beggining...
Is it the correct or I have some settings or ROM version that is memory comsuming?
Oops..May be it is usefull also to give you the other memory informations (in the while seems that other memory has been used ):
Storage
Total: 54.99 MB
In use: 11.21 MB
Free: 43.77 MB
Program
Total: 48.75 MB
In use: 23.98 MB
Free: 24.77 MB

Tmobile HD2 Memory seems low?

I was doing a compare of Tilt vs HD2...
Are there any software tools that analyzes the actual System memory capacities? Is there really 576MB of RAM in this Tmobile HD2?

Yes there is! Actually that RAM amount is available on all the "others" HD2 (eu, au versions), you just need to unlock it with a correct combination of radio and rom..

Under device info, hw info you'll see the total quantity of RAM installed into the device while in memory settings you'll see a little less becase a part of it is used by the OS.
I hope I've been of some help.
1024 MB flash
what is it?
flash is the internal storage space but then you only hav 690.48 MB
where is the rest?
used by OS again?

the rom takes up room, so does the radio, and when the rominstalls itself (first run, or after a hard reset) that uses up more.
think of it likeinstalling your pc. you start with a nice empty disk, but by the time windows 7 has been installed it has used 6gig of space before you even run it for the first time.
