Active sync deltes files on desktop computer - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

Since I have upgraded my Qtek 9000 with the latest O2 ROM (and deleted all the O2 stuff in order to get more free space), I have had a problem (or at least that is when I think the troubles started).
ActiveSync works for all items except for Files.
Files are deleted from the sync folder on the desktop PC(s), but luckily the files remains on the device. I can put a file in the desktop folder and it is synced to the Universal. Next time I reconnect the file is deleted from the desktop folder but remains on the Universal. I am using 2 Desktop PC’s (both with XP), and they both have the same problem.
Until the upgrade (or sometime near that point in time) file sync with the Universal and the 2 desktop PCs was functioning flawlessly.
Any ideas on how to solve the problem?

Transferring All XDAII Data to a New Computer

I have my XDAII synching with my desktop computer. I'm getting rid of my desktop and replacing it with a notebook computer.
I want my XDAII to now be managed & synched by my notebook computer.
Is there an easy way to transfer over all the synch info, installed program info etc to the Notebook computer?
Thanks,
Tim
i would try to install activesync on the laptop

Documents and Settings\[UserName]\Application Data\Microsoft\ActiveSync\*.*
and also
Documents and Settings\[UserName]\My Documents\My pocketpc
or what ever that last dir is named
of cause some programs will install in all kinda of odd paths before installing to the pda i dont really know good way to get all those along

How to sync files from office to home with Jam?

Hi all,
I have a notepad, a desktop pc and the Jam ppc.
I'd like to sync and use the Jam's to move or copy and/or keep up to date some files.
FOr example: I download some files from the office (desktop pc)... I'd like to use inthe best way my Jam to store the files and then put them on my laptop (at home). (and vice versa!)
Other case is: I have some files at home and I'd like to work on that file on both the pcs (office-home) and keep them up to date using Jam to move/copy ecc... the info.
Any idea? Can The XP's briefcase help me?
I use a program called MobSync to do that:
http://www.pocketpcfreewares.com/en/index.php?soft=985
Extract from developer:
MobSync is a software allowing any file folder synchronization from the Pocket PC onto the desktop--synchronization which cannot be done with ActiveSync.
So, with this software you can synchronize any file folder on your Pocket PC (not necessarily \My Documents) with any file folder on your desktop (not necessarily \Pocket_PC My Documents either).
You install the program on your desktop and laptop. You can select which folders you want to sync. The files will be sync'd to the SD card of your PDA. When you then sync with other PC (desktop or laptop), those files can be sync'd anywhere on that PC and vice versa.
I've been using it for quite a while now and works great.

syncing with a new PC?

Only had my Vario about a week and still learning it, I have connected the wifi fine and connected to my old pc, it synced fine but just got a new PC and what to use this to sync with from now on, it came up that there was a problem syncing as there was already a outlook profile, how do I remove the old PC data and attach it to the new one?
Also is it possible to connect to the PC using wifi rather than theusb cable??
Paul
The outlook date is stored in outlook.pst in C:\Documents and Settings\[your username]\Local settings\Application data\Microsoft\Outlook\
Copy outlook.pst from your old to your new PC, it should work! I recommence you a tool called pfbackup (from MS), it makes automaticly a backup copy of this file.
Thanks for the reply, I've managed to delete the old computer in the connection manager and then synced with the new PC, this is my first internet post on the Vario hope it works lol

Last week I tried to upgrade to WM6 using vista. Shortly after erasing the ROM it crashed and would not connect. I started the upgrade, as it would not sync with Outlook 2007. Something to do with Task.
I’m not sure that the following was what cured it. I added a task on the XDA, and it successfully synced.
However following the crash, I could not connect to the upgrading program. I kept getting a 101 connection error.
Unfortunately the only way I got it to work was by using my other PC with XP on it, and then going back to Vista. Now its great, and back on the road.
i have the same problem, but on my home i have win xp and no problem, but on work i have a pc wiht vista and i can´t downgrade to xp. i must work on vista

I installed Vista on a second partition and kept XP on another partition. That way I could keep my documents and the like on the XP partition and access them from either XP or VISTA. Benefits included keeping the one set of e-mail folders and content as I migrated various programs (such as PocoMail) across to Vista. And yes, they all work—and faster than my now bloated XP could handle things. I am using a 2002 ASUS A7V8X Mobo but every other component was new in 2007-08.
All went well, including synchronising my O2 XDAII Pocket PC (PPC) running SIN’s famous version of Windows Mobile 2003 SE—ROM version 2.06.00WE. I used Windows Mobile Device Centre and successfully and synced Calendar, Contacts and the like with Outlook 2007. After a couple of weeks, the PPC would no longer sync ... connect via USB, yes ... but WMDC 6.1 turned into Windows Mass Data Corruption.
Well, I tried the usual tricks that others have put forward like rolling back to WMDC 6.0, as Neville Lang suggested in the following extract wherein he:
 Uninstalled the two Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1 items from the
Control Panel > Programs and Features list
 Manually deleted the contents of the C:\Windows\WindowsMobile folder.
Initially I could not delete some DLLs but once the two "Windows Mobile
device connectivity" services were stopped from the Task Manager, I was able
to delete the rest of the files in the WindowsMobile folder, except for the
en-US folder containing the *.MUI files. I could not delete them and so
decided to leave them.
 Using Regedit, deleted all entries from the following two keys that
related to my two devices:
* HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows CE Services\Partners
* HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows Portable Devices\Devices (He left
in the entry for my memory card)
 Using Windows Explorer, deleted all files in the following folder:
* C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\ActiveSync\Profiles
 With his two Pocket PCs disconnected, tapped on Start > Programs >
ActiveSync > Menu > Options, highlighted the Windows PC and tapped on and
the Delete button. Both of the PPCs had two entries in here so there could
have been some confusion on the desktop at some point, so he deleted both of
them. They do not sync with any other computer.
 Rebooted (Restarted) the Windows Vista computer
 Reinstalled WMDC 6.0 from the Microsoft Download website.
 Recreated the two relationships from the two devices, and they each did
the initial long sync
 He then tested each device that it could perform a sync not long after it
was reconnected, and they both now sync perfectly. He also tested that making
any changes to some contact details in Outlook 2007 would update
But this didn’t work for me. Nor did opening specific ports in the firewall (e.g., WMDC--port 990). So I went back to WMDC 6.1 and thought about the matter. It seemed that I had done two things that might have had an effect
1) On the PC installed a VPN to a mapped drive on a work server; and
2) On the PC installed a cable line speed monitor (TCP/IQ) because I never believe the promises made by my ISP about the speed I get.
I uninstalled the line speed monitor and made sure I never connected to the VPN when trying to sync the PPC. I use SunnySoft’s BackUp Manager and so I restored a complete version of the PPC’s system and files from a few months earlier. Next I restored the current calendar etc. from the XP sync with Outlook 2003.
Next came the connect via USB with success and no more problems. I have concluded that while I think I know what went wrong, the PPC was also suffering from the aborted WMDC sync efforts. There is no way around having full backups and being able to take a few steps back to a time when all was well.
Life is good again ... for a while ....

WMDC file synchronization

One of my WM6.1 phones shows a peculiar synchronization problem: Files from the standard synchronization folder "\My Documents\" are only
synchronized from the PC to the PDA. Files created or updated on the PDA are not copied back to the PC.
All items of Outlook are properly synchronized in both directions.
Even after deleting the partnership on the PDA and the PC, rebooting both, and establishing a new partnership, files are not updated from the
PDA to the PC.
My other WM6.1 phones synchronize well in both directions. All settings appear to be identical. Therefore I assume, that something is wrong
with some (registry) settings on my PDA.
Any suggestion to debug this phenomenon is highly appreciated.
Does anybody have an idea, where the configuration what to sync is stored on the smartphone? If one performs "change content sync settings" on the PC, some information is transferred to the smartphone, but where is this information stored?
